Title: THE STATE OF FLUX
Post by: bk on August 24, 2004, 11:59:41 PM
Well, you've read the notes, you've been flummoxed by the notes, you've been fluxed by the notes and now it is time to post until the fluxed and flummoxed cows come home.

I don't really know what to say about flux.

It's bad...most of the time.

There's the acid re-flux...I know that hurts.

And I think flux is some sort of material you use in soldering.

And there's the problem with indecisiveness that makes people flux-uate from one side to the other.

There is the in-flux of things.

And then there's that rather crude, time-worn expression "flux a duck" (I mean, honestly, would you even know how to start).

Should I be dancing and whooping it up because I got the first post?

It's bedtime.  I'm medicated.  And my arm is still sore from therapy.  It's a good sore, I guess, but sore nevertheless.

Yep! It's my bedtime.
I'm writing in rhyme.

Well well well well well well well.....well!!! (A Cass Daley reference).

Yes great reviews posted yesterday.  Whew! We did over $80,000 in business yesterday - which isn't a HUGE amount in the vast scheme of things, but is a LOT of money for our little store.  The students were for the most part well behaved and patient....they don't know the alphabet, but some of them caught on fairly quickly.

I will say NOW - there are some young ladies who should NEVER wear clothing that shows too much of their skin.....they do NOT have the figures for it.  There, I said it and I'm glad (another Cass Daley reference).

Hopefully I can visit HHW today because classes start and we shouldn't have such an inFLUX of students....just the odd one now and then....

I am learning my lines.....must write two DVD reviews for SS...and hopefully at least one will be used....I haven't seen the new issue yet, but one of mine is supposed to be in it....along with the writings of DRTD!!

MY question for ASKBK Day:

Did you see either WILD IN THE STREETS (out on DVD yesterday) or THE APPLE (out on DVD now - or soon, I forget) on the big screen, and can you tell us your impressions of these....uh....movies?

I got all kinds of What If? questions today...

BK, I brought it up in chat the other night, but I locked up and missed the answer--are you thinking of doing a cast recording?  Or at least a "keepsake" recording?

Will you be done with What If? once the run is over?  From the reviews, I'm garnering that a lot of folks feel that the show has legs.  Do you see an extended run somewhere on the horizon (or on the vertical?)  Would the current cast be available or do they already have future commitments?

I hate being in the state of flux, but I dream of being in the lap o'fluxury.

And isn't it interesting to point-out that flummox is really only lummox with an f in front of it?

Or maybe it ain't...

Just a simple question for DRs all over: Is New York the only place where you go into most Chinese restaurants and find you are the only one eatting Chinese food while everyone else orders Fried Chicken or Chicken Wings?  For chicken, there's KFC, Boston Markets, Popeye, etc. so why not eat Chinese food at a Chinese restaurant.

There are a couple of Chinese restaurants in Philly that have such items as burgers and fries, cheesesteaks, and pizza on their menu.  I always thought this was pretty odd, too.

One of the companies I work for is in an upscale Chinese neighborhood (Richmond Hill). I sometimes go into a local Chinese restaurant and find Chinese grandparents having something traditional while their grandchildren are ordering things like macaroni and cheese, pizza, and ham sandwiches. Me, I get the daily special, which, IKYN (I kid you not in Internet lingo), is called "stir fried stuff."

I laughed at DR William E. Lurie's Chinese restaurant comments. My favorite Chinese buffet in town has some fabulous Chinese dishes on it, but would you believe amid all of their Chinese specialties they also have baked ziti and a taco bar? I always laugh when I see the ziti. (Of course, I had to try it - not bad).
Title: Re:THE STATE OF FLUX
Post by: Jrand74 on August 25, 2004, 07:50:08 AM
You can get a taco at our local Chinese Restaurant as well...
I guess the other choices are for those people who were forced to go to enjoy the company of fellow diners, but just can't eat the specialty food.

So what is the most adventurous thing any other DR has ordered or been recommended and it turned out to be wonderful?  (If it didn't, I don't want to hear...I want to hear about great food discoveries you have made)....I am sure we can share this with ASK BK Day, after all it is a FOOD subject!

I want to check to make sure I get the name of the dish I am thinking about correct....I shall return.

DR DTM:  Your comments about "General Hospital" reminded me of the summer I started watching OLTL ("One Life to Live" in....well, soap lingo).  Viki was pregnant with Kevin Lord Riley, for what seemed to be an interminable amount of time.....like 13 months.  When she finally gave birth, I thought "Oh, thank G-d!"  It was also around that time (or perhaps just prior) when OLTL and GH were each 45 minutes.  The time of the great scandal George Reinholt and Jackie Courtney caused when they jumped from Days of Our Lives to OLTL.  And some great cast members at that time, including the always under-appreciated Erika Slezak, Doris Belack, Farley Granger, Nancy Pinkerton (the original Dorian Cramer Lord -- as fabulous as Robin Strasser has been, and less so Clare Malis before her, there has never been as good a Dorian as Nancy Pinkerton.  Older, but better.), Jennifer Harmon, Jackie Zeman (before she went to GH), Judith Light (a case where a successor was better than the original cast member)...it goes on and on....Jameson Parker....For a time, it seemed like most of the entire original cast of NINE was on OLTL....Shelly Burch, Kate Dezina, Taina Elg.....those were  the old boarding house days with Sally Gracie as.....hmmm, funny how the character name escapes me...was it Ida, the landlady?

It wasn't until several years later when I started watching All My Children and GH.  And occasionally Edge of Night.

Funny how your one little comment sent me down memory lane......  how I recall that I was watching GH when they broke in to tell us that Reagan had been shot.

At any rate, that leads me to my question for BK on Ask BK Day:  Have you ever appeared on a soap?  Day player, or contract?  Have you ever been "hooked" on one?  Do you think it is still true that Carol Burnett is still an All My Children Fan, and La Liz a GH fan, with the way they focus all their energy on the younger characters and shunt the older reliable actors aside?

Readers, feel free to pitch in your responses....

Oh, and one more word of advice to DR Sandra:  Please, PLEASE, do not rely on Cliff notes for your reading list.  Use them as supplements if you must, but be sure to read the items on your list in their original forms......you will be doing yourself a favor.  Thanks.

I've never been to a Chinese restaurant where things like burgers, ziti or fired chicken were available.  One thing I do miss about New York, however, is the preponderance of Cuban/Chinese restaurants.  To be clear, this was not some kind of fusion cuisine, but rather one side of the menu would be Cuban food and the other side Chinese food.  There's a reason why these two cuisines arrived together in so many restaurants, but it escapes me at the moment.

The first soaop opera I ever got involved in was THE NURSES. This daytime soap came about after the nighttime series was canceled. I don't think it ran more than a year or two as a daytime soap, but I loved it, and it came on after I had enough time to walk home from school and tune in. (I'm guessing 3:30 p.m.)

Anyway, when ABC canceled it, it was replaced with, what else, DARK SHADOWS. I tried to get into DARK SHADOWS during its first couple of weeks of Gothic intrigue (this was before Barnabus Collins was brought onto the show), but it just didn't hold my interest.

Here is the famaily's latest "Lost Cause":

FLETCHER

He was picked up as stray in Brooklyn (but we won't hold that against him). He has a few problems: he is deaf, epileptic and suffers from PICA (an eating disorder in which animals ingest inappropriate foreign objects, like dirty socks).

The issue of deaf dalmatians now has me royally pissed off in high dudgeon.

The  Dalmation Club of America (http://www.thedca.org/deaf1.html) has the following policy:

Quote
"IF YOU ARE AFFILIATED WITH AN ANIMAL SHELTER, HUMANE SOCIETY OR DOG RESCUE SERVICE, PLEASE do not attempt to place the deaf Dalmatian puppies and adults that come in, and do not advertise for a "special home" for the"poor little deaf Dalmatian." The HUMANE approach is to put down the deaf Dals and concentrate on finding good homes for the healthy, hearing dogs. "
[/size]

Now isn't that a bunch of elitist crap - Nazi attitudes in dogville!

It's even worse - they actively campaign against any organization that rescues deaf dalmations.

Our local  Dalmatian Rescue of Delaware  (http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/DE31.html) complains:

Quote
The DCA even goes so far as to not help any organization which rescues deaf Dalmatians. The DCA is supposed to protect the welfare and integrity of the breed but they will not give organizations who rescue mostly hearing Dalmatians, any financial support because we also rescue deaf Dalmatians. I have correspondence from a DCA official denying a request from a rescue organization for financial assistance with an injured hearing Dalmatian. The DCA’s reason for not helping them? Because this rescue "might" rescue deaf dogs

Nice thinking - if you help rescue  the disabled, we won't help you  resuing the healthy! >:(

When I was living at home with the folks, we had a Siberian Spitz who went deaf pretty early in his life.  Not that he let us notice that there was any difference--he always remained the same lively and lovable dog he was since he came to us as a pup.

We are thinking of doing a recording.  We are also trying to see if we're going to extend one more week at The Hudson.  After that, they have another show booked in.  I've also been talking to people about the possibility of moving the show somewhere, and I'd like to get people in from NY but haven't done anything in that regard.

I've never used a company to do it, so I don't know how or even what they do.  I have a stand-alone (well, two) burners and do it here at home.  I don't use the computer even though I have one in there, too.  I gather there is a way to transfer LPs directly into the computer and then to use some sort of program should you wish to get rid of some ticks and pops.

Hey, Gunther!

If you have a turntable and a home PC that has an audio input jack, I would seriously consider doing this on your own.  With the proper software (I use High Criteria's Total Recorder), this is actually a pretty easy process.

Personally, I don't like the idea of mailing my favorite LPs, no matter how well I could package them.  And then there's the possibility that any company that performs such a niche business could go under while they have your LPs in posession.

But if you do have to use an outside duping business to do this, find out if you can send a cassette copy to use as a source instead of the actual LP.

Good Morning!

-Whew!  Yes, it's still morning.  I ended up sleeping in a bit, even though I got to bed "early" last night - well, early for me...  In any case...

RE: Chinese Food - Most, if not all, of the Chinese restaurants I've been to in the DC area and Richmond have an "American" food section of the menu.  It seems to be geared toward kids, but a lot of adults take advantage of it too.  And, pricewise, sometimes the fried chicken at Chinese restaurants is cheaper than it is at KFC, Popeye's, etc.  Actually, in Richmond, the section of the menu with fried chicken, french fries, etc., is sometimes labeled "Special Foods".  -I guess fried chicken would be a "special food" to a Chinese person.  ;)

RE: Cuban/Chinese restaurants - Thanks, DR Jay for that "reminder".  My favorite is "Chinita Linda" in Chelsea.  I usually get an order of "yucca con chicharron" for an appetizer, followed by Hunan Chicken for my entree!

OH - but before I go...

I have ordered fried chicken at Chinese restaurants before - well, from at least one Chinese take out place in Richmond.  One thing I noticed right away is that the chicken is cooked/fried to order instead of sitting under a heatlamp for an unspecified amount of time.  In fact, if you choose to order a half-chicken, they "warn" you that it will take about 15-20 minutes to get your order - and many people wait for it.  In other words, it's "fresh fried" chicken - and pretty good.

The theater right down from my house is now showing DE-LOVELY. I've been wondering all week if I should give in to my curiosity and see it, or wait for the DVD rental which will only be a month or two from now and save some money (movie ticket more expensive than a DVD rental.)

I have to admit when I was in college with a lot of time on my hands, I got very hooked on soaps. They were all 30 minutes back then, so I could see three a day in only 90 minutes. I watched DAYS OF OUR LIVES at 2, GUIDING LIGHT at 2:30, and GENERAL HOSPITAL at 3. I was an equal opportunity soap lover watching one per network during those last three years of college. Most semesters, I had all my classes in the morning leaving the afternoons free for soaps, but occasionally I had to have a 2 p.m. class a couple of days a week that would cause me to miss them. Of course, you never got behind because nothing much EVER happened in a mere 30 minute time period with time out for lots of commercials.

When I graduated from college, I dropped my soaps all cold turkey. I was too busy with my first year of teaching to think about them. For awhile my mom kept me apprised of DAYS and GH (she watched them, too), but I just gradually lost interest.

Thank you all for the comments on the Chinese restaurants.  I can understand them having chicken and other non-Chinese... what I find strange is that almost every time I am in one of them (which is several times a week since there are several near the office) I am usually the only person ordering anything other than chicken.   It's like without the chicken they would go out of business.

And while we are on this topic, why is what is called lo mein on the East Coast and the Midwest (a soft spaghetti type noodle) is called Chow Mein on the West Coast?  East Coast Chow Mein has small, hard noodles but I don't know what the West Coast version of that is called.

Speaking of Chinese food...

The powers that be have finally decided that Soupe et Nouilles - a downtown Asian noodlery with ridiculously cheap prices - should go city-wide.

They opened one on Monkland Ave. about five minutes walking from my house.

Super yummy wontons... and Singapore noodles that are to die for!

Maybe he's referring to a chocolate pecan turtle...in which case I think that even you might agree that it's delish!!

I do agree. In fact, I once wrote a long scene (beautifully played by the late Lila Kedrova and the still present John Vernon) having to do with thinking that "turtles" were the live variety, when the speaker meant the chocolate variety.

The Opening of Misty Beethoven

A reworking of My Fair Lady/Pygmillion

Misty's life does an about face when she meets Dr. Seymour Love, a jet-setting
sex-researcher who makes a wager with an old friend that he can transform Misty
into a sophisticated, sultry socialite. His goal: to have Misty become the next
"Golden Rod Girl" for skin publisher Lawrence Lehman. Her intensive sexual
education soon brings out the real woman within Misty, and she becomes the
apple of Lehman's eye. Having reached the pinnacle, Misty is unfulfilled only in her
yearning for Seymour. But when she overhears him bragging of his success and
mocking her, she decides to take matters into her own hands

Hmmm...well I just talked to Cal Bolder on the phone...and...he just got out of the hospital!!!

When I had talked to him last week he said he wasn't feeling very good and it turned out he had pneumonia and has spent the last 5 days in the hospital. So he is having to cancel the trip to Burbank. Now I must decide if I am still going to go down. I would still like to visit with Laurie Mitchell so I might still go as she is going to be at the collectors show. I will wait and see. Laurie and her husband are visiting New York City (her old stomping grounds) right now and will be back next week.

Anyway, feel free to send get well vibes for Mr. Bolder, he is needing them and I want him to be well...he is such a nice guy!

I have to make this kinda quick because we have a really bad rain storm over head right now.

We had another bomb threat/fire drill/elevator malfunction (depending on who you spoke with).  All I know is that I’m getting a little tired of putting the fish in the EFT and trudging down 22 floors.  My legs are already starting to hurt.

Talk about saying the wrong thing.  We had a guy in our department today that had a cell phone.  He very politely said,  “Pardon me,  but my thing is ringing and I have to answer it.”  We had peals of laughter and several comments like, “Sounds like a personal problem to me.”, “I’d have that checked out.” and “Wow! I didn’t know they could DO that!” .

OK, I confess.   I said one of those statements but I won’t tell you which one.   ;D

Spoo, gotta run—that last lightning crack was close.  Bear is scared to death!

BTW,  I LOVE Fletcher!

Healing vibes to Mr. Bolder! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Glad to hear Bogie is doing better!

I was just perusing the Schedule of Upcoming Releases (http://www.talkinbroadway.com/sound/upcoming.html) section at Talkin' Broadway and under the "No release date set" section near the bottom of the page, I noticed (including Anyone Can Whistle, which was recorded several years ago) this:

Evening Primrose
(Harbinger - new on CD)
Television cast recording from studio master. Anthony Perkins.

Of course, the Harbinger Records (http://www.harbingerrecords.com/) website has nothing about it.  Has anyone heard about this??  Is this really going to happen?  What about a DVD?

The word on Evening Primrose has always been that the Collier estate sold the rights to the story (on which its based) for one broadcast and one broadcast only.  No amount of coaxing has been able to convince them to let it be seen again.

I've seen it, and my favorite number in it was ruined by the shoddy direction of one Stephen Sondheim.  Before you throw something at your computer screen, I hasten to tell you that Stephen Sondheim believes the song was ruined by his shoddy direction.  It's the first solo, for Anthony Perkins, and it's called If You Can Find Me I'm Here.  Sondheim had long been a film buff, had worked on some TV shows before, and begged to be given a chance to direct something.  So, the director of Evening Primrose, against his better judgment, let Sondheim do just this song.  Sondheim instructed his old friend Anthony Perkins to look around the camera, but not directly at it.  As a result, Perkins looks unfocussed and oddly irresolute, which is at odds with the wonderful song would-be director Sondheim had written.

I think it was on a radio interview with Paul Lazarus, around the time of Sondheim's 50th birthday, that he made this confession.

Last night we saw Forbidden Broadway, and, let me tell you, if What If is anything like I'm picturing it, it's a lot funnier than Forbidden Broadway.  As BK recently said, there's something exhausting about a revue that's all funny all the time, but nothing in Forbidden Broadway is nearly as funny as What If's Something, which I've been performing at parties for years.  How I wish I could be there to see What If!  Here's hoping it wends it way to New York.

I think I can answer the question in part, but DR Elmore could answer it better. When Dr TD and I had dinner with DR Elmore, it came up that he had worked with John Jap on a couple of records. Matt Borgat comes to mind.

The main reason why these take so long is that he doesn't have the money to complete them. In fact Anyone Can Whistle and many of the other announced complete recordings have never been completed recorded.

What happened was that he had a deal with a British Theater mag at the time that he would release a single disk "highlights" version. What he did was record the songs that were going to be on the highlight versions and hoped to go back and complete them when he had the money.

So money is the main issue and that they are not completed is the other.

This afternoon I sneaked out to see The Last Empress, the Korean extravaganza about the life and assassination of Queen Min. The production is entirely in Korean, with rather ungraceful translations appearing on side panels. The music mixes Western pop and more traditional Eastern styles and, to my ear, gets repetitious early on. The singers all have glorious voices. It's quite a production - a cast of more than 50 in brilliant costumes. There is one spectacular dance number, but overall the staging is the weakest part of the show. The climactic execution scene fizzled.

The Last Empress is part of the Mirvish subscription series and seems to be drawing big crowds, including members of the Korean community. The producers are running large ads, promoting the musical as the story of a strong-willed woman of lowly origins who appeals to the masses while maneuvering against courtly and foreign powers. Sound familiar?

The only ones that spring to mind are:

What Would You Do? -- Cabaret

What Did I Have That I Don't Have? -- On A Clear Day...

Do You Love Me? -- Fiddler

Do I Hear A Waltz? -- Got Tu Go Disco

DR MS, how do you catalog your collection?  I once tried a shareware program which cataloged your collection by inserting your CDs into the drive.  It would then attempt to match the CD with titles on a number of different websites.  If a match was made, you could download the info to the software's database.  It worked fine for titles such as West Side Story, Cats, and even The Producers.  But there was no info to be found for CDs like Oh, Brother!, The Robber Bridegroom or any of the Gypsy revivals.  I'm still searching for the idea solution.

Well, DRACULA: DEAD AND LOVING IT did not stand up to a second viewing. There are a few very funny moments, but they come few and far between at least viewing it alone at home. Seeing it with an audience almost ten years ago, the laughter was long and loud.

What's great however is the transfer. Absolutely astounding Technicolor and sharpness so exact you'd swear you were looking at high definition DVD. It's an anamorphic transfer, naturally. I really think this must be the best looking Brooks film on DVD.

DR Laura's turtle pic reminds me of a joke:

A drunk walks into a bar.  He stumbles over to the dart board, grabs a dart, takes a few strides away, and flings the dart wildly at the board.  Amazingly, he hits the bulls-eye.

The bartender rings a bell.  He says, "Congratulations, buddy!  We have a policy here--everytime someone makes a bulls-eye, they win a little prize."  The bartender reaches into a box behind the bar and holds out a pet-sized turtle.  The drunk gratefully takes his prize and leaves.

Three weeks later, the same drunk walks into the same bar.  Again, he stumbles to the dart board, grabs a dart, strides away and flings the dart at the board with abandon.  And once again, he hits a dead center bulls-eye.

The bartender rings the bell again.  "Congratulations, buddy!  We have a policy here--everytime someone makes a bulls-eye, they get a little prize."  He reaches into the box and this time holds out a pocket dictionary.

"Uh-uh!", says the drunk.  "I don't want that.  I want the same prize you gave me last time."

The bartender scratches his head.  "Gee, bud, we give out different prizes all the time.  Do you remember what it was?"

"Sure I do!",  replies the drunk.  "It was a roast-beef sandwich on a hard roll."

Sunday I was stuck for way too many hours in one of the ugliest places in all of New York, the Marriot Marquis Hotel.  It's an incredibly cramped atrium, where one can peer down from the hallway of the 45th floor and see the lobby action on the 8th floor.  (That's right, the lobby's on the 8th floor.)

When the place first opened, a friend of mine played piano bar in the lobby.  (That's right, the lobby's on the 8th floor.)  Just then, a man decided to end his life by jumping off one of those high floor hallways and landed splat, dead, on the 8th floor.  And what song was my friend playing at the time of this gruesome moment?

Another friend of mine was working on a pilot that aired but never sold.  He and his fellow producers were much bemused that, unbidden, a songwriter had created a song especially to be the theme song of this pilot.  The lyric went something like this "Hey, Anna: What are you doing for the rest of your life?" and they thought it was remarkable that someone would write a song with the same title of an already quite famous song.

Not THAT remarkable, thought I, and, within an hour, I sent them several possible theme songs (all dealing with the plot of the pilot) with the following titles:

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
Disco Inferno
God Bless America
Oklahoma!
My Funny Valentine
The Star-Spangled Banner
Walk Like an Egyptian

Fans of Lucille Ball might like the first lyric, which went something like

"Anna...
Is a lot like Lucy
'Cept she's in the sky
With diamonds"

I wish I could stay up later and help with the push to get past the ATL hump but I need to get my tired butt to bed.

'night, y'all!

I'm feeling slightly under the weather (sunny) so may not hang around for too long tonight. But I'll stick around until we get past the ATL.

The cleaners I frequent has a rack of clothes for sale -- things that were never picked up, i think. One of the items is a pink Mary Kay smock (Mary Kay emboidered over the pocket). I'm very tempted to buy it and wear it to my next netwrok meeting

Panni, I'm sure that pink would be a very lovely color to wear at your meeting!  In the musical Angry Housewives, there's a song that goes:

Think positive,
Think perky,
Think Pink!

I often wear a pink shirt to meetings -- in fact, I wore it today to a lunch meeting. The beauty of the Mary Kay smock, though, is the "Mary Kay" embroidered on it.

I accidentally lost my post in which I had listed the names of the Chinese Olympic divers. It's like a Monty Python routine listening to the announcers,

I learned this evening, Dear Readers, that PBS can actually run interesting programming without pledge breaks.

At 8 pm there was an all too brief program about art direction in film, and then at 9 pm a 90 minute tribute to Mr. Gene Kelly.

Earlier today I saw a film called Rosenstrasse.  It is based on a little known actual event that occurred in Berlin in 1943.  Jews in Berlin who were married to Aryans had been spared the roundups that their fellow religionists suffered to that time.  In 1943, their marriages no longer provided any protection and they were rounded up and held prisoner in a building on Rosenstrasse ("Rose Street") in Berlin.

The Aryan wives of the male prisoners held protest in front of the building for seven days, resulting in a rather surprising conclusion.

The story is interspersed with scenes from modern day New York, to where a young child involved in the 1943 episode moved following the war.  Her daughter is seen in contemporary Berlin, sleuthing details of the event from an adult participant in it.

Although it dragged a little bit here and there, the film is generally good and helped me learn about something with which I was unfamiliar.

I'm still here (a Follies reference!)... Too tired to go to bed. There's a pile of clothes on the bed which I put there when I got them (it?) out of the drier. I have to put them away before going to bed -- and I'm too TIRED.

Watched a bit of the Olympics. I think I'd like to visit Greece. Actually the few Greek people I've known, I've really liked. Lived in a Greek neighborhood in Toronto for a few years. Wonderful. Worked with a Greek DP on a number of movies for the CBC. We'd go out for Greek meals and ouzo after shooting each day.

Good Evening!

I ended up having a very pleasant afternoon filled with some very pleasant people.  I hied myself up to North Hollywood - to the Debbie Reynolds Studios to be precise - to meet up with Baayork Lee.  She was in town auditioning for an upcoming production of A Chorus Line for Houston's Theatre Under the Stars.  I made it there right on time, right at the end of their day, and as soon as I made my way into the room, Baayork greeted me with a great big hug. :)  Then she started to introduce me to everyone else in the room, and one of them turned out to be DI (Dear Interviewee) Larry Blank - who was my conductor for Sweeney Todd at the Kennedy Center.  It was very nice seeing him again, and, he, too, greeted me with a nice hug.  *And BK, Larry says, "Hi!"

Since it was the end of their day - and the end of their last day in town - they were heading out for some drinks, and kindly invited me along.  So, we all headed over to the Steak Joynt for some "adult beverages" and some rather good chili too!

Baayork and I got caught up - she'll be directing Cinderella for New York City Opera this fall!  I also got to meet one of Larry's friends, and a fellow pianist, James May.  Nice guy, and he even raised a glass to me in a pre-birthday toast.  *He's a fellow Virgo - his birthday is next week.
