Well, you've read the notes, the notes were calm and crazy, and now it is time for you to post until the calm and crazy cows come home.

A belated good morning, all!    :)

Good morning, all! I've been unable to log on since about 7:30 this morning. I guess the board's been back up for around 15 minutes? I was having a hellish problem with a Staples order this morning because I had mistakenly ordered the wrong pens, and a lovely lady in Customer Service helped me repair everything.

So, I slept very well last night, and I'm guessing that I will not be going to Encores! today, unless i suddenly hear from Joshie, s I'll wrk on my taxes.

I have no more news.

Oh man, that is exactly what I need right now.

We just received a flyer from the hotel manager about today's lunch and dinner buffets and telling us that housekeeping services are limited.  I just made our bed and emptied the trash.  We only need a few towels and some K-cups.

Just a nod to DR Pogue's reply to TOD yesterday about "Hullabaloo" and his watching that, instead of "Shindig", because it featured Lada Edmund Jr.  I was a fan, too, but I also recall another dancer on that show.  Some of you may have heard of her:   Donna McKechnie.

Very cute.  Trouble is, most cats cannot digest milk properly.  The end result is usually diarrhea.

Ah thanks for the correction DR JANE.....interesting.....  There are a lot of girls in the Shindig audience that look like you!

I liked Hullabaloo - BUT most of the acts on SHINDIG sang live!  The dancers on Hullabaloo were better...including MR BK's own instructor Mr David Winters....and Donna and Michael and Lada, of course....and it was in COLOR!

And thanks to everyone....I think last night's show was MY best....and we have ONE MORE TO GO....tonight is closing night 16 days after we had our first blocking rehearsal!

A lot of students are required to attend for one class or another that they are in.....about half of them left at intermission last night...so I played to a much smaller audience in Act Two.

AND OF COURSE my "check engine" light came on this morning....so i will probably borrow a car to drive down tonight and then have it looked at tomorrow or Friday.

Thanks for posting this article, DR singdaw!  I'mfollowing the various recent premieres and wondering if there will be future life for this , "Silent Night" (which I liked very much), and "The Harlot's Progress."  I'm guessing that "Brkeback Mountain" will get a DVD release since a lot of this company's productions make it to video.

I'm also amazed at all the interest in this opera from the musical theatre queens who would rather die than listen to "The Rake's Progress" or a Menotti opera! Oh, that's right; they're musical theatre queens!

I've been experiencing weather vicariously by calling (and texting and FB messaging) friends and family on the east coast.

We haven't "had" any weather beyond mild days and moderate temperatures for weeks, it seems.  Except...it showered a little bit this morning.  Nothing but a trace compared to what we need.

Still, it doesn't "seem" like weather compared to what the rest of the country is experiencing!

And I got approved to read three advanced reader copies of books I am very excited about (three of my favorite authors). These books come out in April and May. So I don't have to rush. But i'd like to read them in February.

Nope...I right-clicked on the image and then (left-)clicked on "Properties."  Then I triple-clicked on the "Address: URL" to highlight the whole thing, copied it and pasted that in between the [ img ] [ /img ] codes (without the spaces within the brackets).

As someone who has been collecting all the original recordings of songs that have been nominated for an Academy Awards, I went WOW when the Academy decided to pull the nomination for the song Alone: Yet Not Alone. This was due to the campaigning by the composer Bruce Broughton who was a former governor.

Story here

http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/01/29/oscars-kill-original-song-nomination-for-alone-yet-not-alone-breaking/ (http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/01/29/oscars-kill-original-song-nomination-for-alone-yet-not-alone-breaking/)

There have been other nominations or awards rescinded but this is first time in the song category.

The Academy is not putting another song in its place. There will be only 4 songs competing..

The thing is the song was pretty good. I'm not sure I would have voted for it (If I could have)

Oy and vey what a long day.  I had a nice work session with Mr. Graae - before he began his final song, Muse Margaret called and I excused myself and spent fifteen minutes on the telephonic device with her.  Sorry, but as much as I'm into the upcoming recording, this was about my new book and that's the conversation I wanted to have and I wasn't about to wait to hear it.  She loved the new pages, and just had some minor little things she asked about - one was just confusion in a time switch, jumping ahead a day within the same chapter - she didn't realize there was a double space there to indicate that, but I've already decided that for this particular book I'm going to use what I did in the Kritzer books when that happened - this: *** between those sections.  Not a lot of it but it becomes very clear when you're using that within a chapter.  Otherwise it was a typo here a word change there, and again one bit of confusion where I had some characters who were outside and about to go home suddenly go inside for no reason - there may have been a reason at some point but whatever it was got removed.  So, I just rewrote it quickly so they remained outside, and because of that I added a half a page of something really fun - I read that to Muse Margaret and she was thrilled with it.  So onward.

After that, I went back but the first Kritzerland people had already arrived, so I'll hear Jason's third song at the sitzprobe.  I did give notes on his first two solos - mostly tempo things and just one tiny interpretive thing he thought was fine.  I love Jason large.

Then we had our second Kritzerland rehearsal, which was much smoother than the first.  A few singers still don't have their lyrics down, but this rehearsal period is unlike any we've ever done and they haven't had their usual amount of days to learn.  Normally, first rehearsal is on a Monday, second on Thursday and stumble-through on Saturday or Sunday (depending on our show day).  This week, it's Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - so I'll be forgiving at the stumble-through, since they've then got an additional three full days to learn stuff.  But mostly it went very well.

Directly after that, I had a brief work session with the musical director of And the World Goes Round - just going over a few things.  He left and I FINALLY sat down, went over what I'd written earlier and wrote two new pages.  By then I was starving, having only eaten ham and eggs at ten-thirty.  I went and had a cup of chicken corn chowder and a small ham and Swiss on rye.  Then it was back home and I wrote another little bit, then took a break.  Now I'll try to do another two or three pages, but again, I was ahead ten pages so I haven't fallen behind or anything.

Well, I'm off to usher for Judy Collins!  I'm sure that it'll be great...I'll have a report when I get back.

Until later!

I love her! Have a great time.

I'm back and have been back for a while.  The concert was, in a word, GREAT!  She and the Passenger String Quartet from Seattle (who just got back from performing at the Grammy Awards) put on a great show.  The quartet performed first for about 25 minutes.  There was a 20 minute intermission, then Judy came on and performed non-stop for about an hour and 45 minutes!  She still has a great voice!

She had a piano accompanist for most of the songs, she played guitar as well, for a lot of the songs, and the quartet performed with her for about half of her set.  She even played the piano herself and sang several songs near the end of her show.

AND she did sing "Send in the Clowns!"  I really didn't know very many of her songs, but they were all very good.  She did talk about seeing Pete Seeger on Monday and being with him for about an hour an a half and everyone with him was singing and they were all around him when he died.  It was a very touching and sweet moment.

The sound was very good, even that far up.  I had to stand the whole time.  I got there at about 6:00 and didn't leave until about 10:30.  My friend Margo sold the merchandise again.  I helped count the money after the show.  That's what took me so long to get out.

Judy did not sign any autographs after the show.  I didn't really expect her to.  The only CD that she had to sell was her Judy Collins Sings Lennon & Mccartney (http://www.amazon.com/Judy-Collins-Sings-Lennon-Mccartney/dp/B000QFAEJG/ref=sr_1_48?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1391068619&sr=1-48&keywords=judy+collins) CD from 2006.  Even though it's an older recording, Margo sold 52 copies at $15 each.

The main thing that people seemed to find unusual about choosing this CD to sell was that Judy sang nothing from this CD.  Oh, well.  I bought one anyway.  I'll listen to it at work tomorrow. :)

She also talked about her new DVD.  It's going to be shown on PBS.  It's called Judy Collins: Live In Ireland (http://www.amazon.com/Judy-Collins-Live-Ireland/dp/B00HZ9IDKS/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1391068424&sr=1-1&keywords=judy+collins).  I think she sang a couple of songs from it.  Here's the cover:
