Well, you've read the notes, the notes mentioned Kritzerland at Sterling's 42, and now it is time for you to post until the 42 cows come home.

Good morning, all.

Up way too early this morning, tossing and turning and dreaming and waking in the doldrums of winter.  Oy.

So, now ... coffee!

Good morning, all!  When the alarm rang at 6:15, I was dreaming about a really unpleasant rehearsal period for several shows in stock, possibly in England, I think.  All I remember is a lot of hassles and battles as well as a  long drive to a cast party.

This morning, I meet with my accountant Scott and turn in my 2013 tax info. Then I will bus up to City Center and watch the afternoon rehearsal for LITTLE ME.  I'm thinking about changing tomorrow's physical therapy appointment, since the word is the weather will again be bad tomorrow.

DR DakotaCelt, welcome back! That was fantastic news about Ms Reid. Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead!

DR vixmom, I loved the Cracker Barrel gift card. What a neat thank you gift for your samaritan. Vixdad thinks fast on his feet!

Good news about last night's show. Wasn't today's TOD on last week's calendar?

There were too many shows to choose a favorite Harold Prince show, but now to choose a favorite song? Times all those show by 15-20 songs per show impossible. Even his less successful shows there's at least one or two songs that are good.

That story about Dancing With the Stars losing their live band is interesting.

It's sort of odd that they've had it all these years.  I enjoyed it a lot. It will be interesting to see if viewers are upset.

DR Vixmom are your tires snow tires? (not sure if they are mandatory in the winter where you live).

They are mandatory here in the winter. And I have to say it makes a huge difference. I used to slide and now i never do. I think it was a great idea to make them mandatory so nobody feels like they shouldn't do it. Much safer.

Tuesday morning greetings!  It is so good to be HOME!!!

We had a smooth drive from the airport last night.  Made a quick stop at the grocery and bought more than I'd intended because there's another winter storm on the way later today.  By the time we got home and settled down to eat some dinner, it was 10pm and time for CASTLE.

DR Singdaw, there was an exhibit about the St. John's Bible at the University of Dayton library last fall.  Richard and I went to a couple of programs and visited the exhibit.  For Christmas, the church in Lima gave Richard the facsimile editions of Psalms and The Gospels.

What a wonderful gift, DR Ginny! You can purchase the entire regular edition for under $400. The "heritage" facsimile edition goes for about $60,000, I believe. That is the edition that is on display around the campus and in various libraries that can afford it. It sure is a beauty!

So, I woke up feeling a little under the weather, then two of the cats had a fight (no injuries- but it was escalating beyond play) then the garage door opener totally broke loose from the door and the bracket that attaches to the door was just hanging there. I decided that was a sign that I should stay home today. SO, I went to the office, boxed up some work, called the garage door repair guy, who was just here two weeks ago, and am now resting in my recliner. and .....I'm still waiting for it to snow.

Thanks FJL. It really isn't that bad of a day, just feel like I"m catching a cold and have a bit of a headache.   The cats have made up.  Ricky and Boo play and it just goes a bit too far sometimes and I need to separate them. It's sounds like someone is being murdered, but that's usually just Boo being dramatic.   The guys will come between 4 and 6 to fix the door.  i had to get a bit indignant to get them to waive the service call fee.  He did install a part and adjust the motor and it broke 2 weeks later.  I can still raise and lower it, I just have to do it by hand

When I was in college I transferred from Kansas to Iowa after my sophomore year.   I drove back to KU to visit one year and on the way back I got stranded in Kearny, Mo. I waited really longer than I should have to pull off the interstate, but there was just no going any farther.   I went from hotel to hotel trying to find a room, but everything was full.....except the Kam Ron Inn.  I had a room, the phone was down the hall, the closet was the pipe coming off the water heater and there were holes in the walls that were covered with duct tape.  But, it was clean, it was warm and dry and it had a TV.  The next morning the show was up to my knees but I was able to get the car out and get on my way.  I did hear on the news that someone was hit by a car on the interstate that night. I was glad I stopped when I did

My nephew had the scariest.  He was studying in London when 9/11 happened.  So he was 18 or 19 years old and had no idea when he was going to be able to go home.  Some of the people in his group left as soon as the planes started flying, but he stuck it out and was glad he did

New topic of the day: Have you ever been stranded somewhere because of the weather - if so, where and for how long?

I was stranded in a restaurant for 9 hours after the area was hit by an Alberta Clipper.

Back in the 80s, I was on a bus trip with some  fellow forensics people in Fergus Falls after they closed the interstate, We here stuck at a truck stop for two day.

The flood of 1997... Grand Forks was evacuated and we had 25 people in my parents house. It was crowded to say the least.

The New, Improved TOD:

I can't remember actually being stranded because of weather, myself.  There have been a couple of delays for other reasons, but the worst of those I can recall (a change of airplanes due to some malfunction) held me up for maybe four hours, causing me to miss a friend's wedding but getting me there for the reception and partying, and that was all fine.

That having been said ... this Sunday's weather forecasts are sounding a little threatening, and I'd like to hope I won't be stranded trying to get back home from City Center!   :)

Today, we have the singing auditions for our 8th grade musical.  We are doing Dear Edwina which is one of my favorite shows ever.  However, some 8th grade parents don't think so - they think their children have been slighted by doing an off-broadway play instead of a Broadway play.  I heard this through the principal - who is also a friend of mine - and I had to laugh.  If the parents ever want to complain to me, I'll just tell them the truth - the difference between a Broadway show and an Off-Broadway show is basically 500+ more seats in a theatre and a 10+ million dollar budget.  Then, if they don't like that answer, we can go into shows that started off-broadway and then moved to Broadway and won a Tony for best musical.  Notice, there is nothing about the quality of the work here?   I hate parents....

I think maybe the parents are not upset that it is actually an off-broadway show. They are probably meaning that they wish it was a more famous/popular show that everyone knew.

No snow yet.

The more I think about the link that DR DAKOTA CELT posted, the more upset I get.  And now this woman is STILL a university employee, gets an office, gets nearly $300,000 in compensation over the next two years AND gets a "glowing" recommendation from people who want her GONE....

She knows how to use the system for sure.  I think if the university really cared, they would hang to the cost and let her take them to court.  She is obviously in the wrong.

Those of us in the Pacific Northwest are starting to get our own Artic Blast this week. This will be the first really cold tmeperatures that we have had since early December.  Tonight our temperatures will drop into the mid-twenties, and beginning tomorrow night into the teens.

Sorry, but that is as cold as it gets around here.  There is a possibility of some snow on Saturday, but the temps would have to warm up again for that to happen.

So is anyone going to watch the debate between Bill Nye, the Science Guy and Ken Ham, Creationist (http://debatelive.org/)?  The official topic of their debate is, "Is creation a viable model of origins in today’s modern, scientific era?"  It'll be available on YouTube for free for a while afterward, or you can pre-order the debate on DVD or digital download.  It starts today at 4:00 PM Pacific time (7:00 PM Eastern).  I'll still be here at work, so I can't, but I'll watch some of it tonight.  I'm sure that it'll be very interesting.

I survived my stress test and nuclear imaging this afternoon, but have to stay away from airports, Federal buildings, and junkyards where I may set off the radiation alarms.  That's in effect for 3 days, so the winter weather may help me cope with the restriction.

My new cardiologist will discuss the results of today's test with me on February 21.

As frustrating as it is, what I am guessing has happened is that the school, particularly whomever is this gals boss, did not take correct action in disciplining her and they know that if it goes to court, they will lose even more money.

It is horrible that this woman is getting such a seemingly good deal, but hopefully her prospects of ever being hired by anyone else are slim to none. Even with the letter of recomendation, this story itself will make any potential employer think twice, and it will be easily found when they google her after her first interview! So, there is some justice, thanks to the paper that published this!!!!

I'm up.  Went to the car place a little earlier than my appointment.  Then I went and had some breakfast.  The car place called and said the car was ready, but that I needed new rear tires - they'd told me they were getting close to having to be replaced back in December, and the time had come, so I gave them the go-ahead.  There were a couple of other really minor things, and they weren't going to finish till the end of the day, so I got a loaner and came home.  I'll either go back there at six-thirty after the traffic or in the morning.

When I got home, I futzed and finessed yesterday's fifteen pages.  That took over ninety minutes - I added things, I smoothed things out, and I thought it read very well when I got done doing all that - I wrote about a page of new stuff, and now I'm going on from there.

I've done five pages and just ended the penultimate chapter.  I'll begin the final chapter in a little while.  Knowing me, this may turn into a real marathon writing day and I may just go until I finish, probably seventeen pages to go - if not, definitely tomorrow.  Happily, the hard part's done - I added a couple of things, one of which made me laugh really hard, and one of which I found very touching.

Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.

I second that, especially when what I'm laughing about is something stupid/dumb that I should "know better" or something I've seen or heard many times, yet I can't stop laughing, such as "There ain't no sanity clause", etc.  It's even more enjoyable when the laughter comes about unannounced and you find yourself in the midst of it.

Sorry, DR George! I don't care.  While I believe in - and sometimes think I possess - faith and respect people's religions, I think that the people supporting creationism over scientific evidence are both morons and white supremist bigots, to believe that "God's word" in the traditional Bible is true, accurate, and definite over the beliefs of other religions and cultures.  To me there's no debate; it's man of education arguing with a fool.

If my statements here have offended anyone, I do apologize, but I greatly resent this theory of creation becoming a part of the  curriculum, and this is another reason why I support any races that will educate the ignorant and misinformed.

And I am home from a good day in many ways and a frustrating one in others. Among the good things: my taxes are finished, I can finish scanning Act Two of the P/C for JUBILEE on Thursday and spend the rest of the day and Friday printing out vocal scores, and I had a lot of fun at the LITTLE ME rehearsal. I sat with Bruce Pomahac, Ted Chapin's daughter Anika, and Rob's assistant on the Steve Martin bluegrass workshop.  The show is going to be wonderful.

Bad: the ridiculous amount of traffic in this City, most of it needless. I spent far too much on taxis today because of too many fools in private cars. If I were dictator, this City would only allow traffic to be public transportation, delivery vehicles, construction vehicles, taxis, and emergency vehicles. It's a pity I'm not.

Aside from all the times we were snowbound?  Even then we weren't truly snowbound as we could go for a walk or sledding.

I have been stranded at airports due to rain or snow storms but always got out after 5-7 hours.  If the entire airport is shut down be smart, which I was, and stock up on food before they sell out.  This is especially important if you are traveling with two young children and are vegetarians.

I hate those really deep shows, too.

Lonny Price does well by Sondheim; otherwise, I believe, he knows the living Sondheim will kick the living crap out of him. I'm sure this production will be similar to the broadcast he directed with Lupone and George Hearn, and it isn't bad.

Garage door is fixed.  They also replaced the springs.  One was starting to go and the other looked ok, but it made more sense to just replace them.  If the spring goes you can't open the door at all. Here is the movie for Callie Ricky Boo.   There is a button in the upper right of the screen when you watch your movie that says "Share" if you click that it goes on your time line.  Then you click, and when it opens, go to options and get the link and post it here!

Garage door is fixed.  They also replaced the springs.  One was starting to go and the other looked ok, but it made more sense to just replace them.  If the spring goes you can't open the door at all. More money than I wanted to spend, but it's pretty much as good as new now and has a 5 year warranty

Sort of.  I've been having some other issues and scheduled a doctor's appointment for tomorrow morning.  I don't think it's anything, but need to get it checked out.

It's a pity I'm not.
then I would have to stop driving into the city

The more I think about the link that DR DAKOTA CELT posted, the more upset I get.  And now this woman is STILL a university employee, gets an office, gets nearly $300,000 in compensation over the next two years AND gets a "glowing" recommendation from people who want her GONE....

She knows how to use the system for sure.  I think if the university really cared, they would hang to the cost and let her take them to court.  She is obviously in the wrong.

I agree...

However, the article will haunt her. It will follow her and she does nto have a good rep.

She hurt alot of people. I am not happy that she is on the payroll.

DR Dakota, I forgot to say I hope that horrid woman never has a job where she can torture employees again.  I have known people to work under bosses like that and how very difficult it is.  Unfortunately you were trapped there.

It took a long time for the acid reflux to get under control. Before I got out I was on meds for that and starting to show signs of high blood pressure. What bugs me also is that NDSU said at the time: WE are a right to work state and we can do what ever we want.

MY question is what happened to the humanity?

We were petrified about the cost of the hotel - the job had reserved the block of rooms so they were only $125  for the one night - but we were there for days... and the sign ont eh back of the door said room were usually $350---

but we were very lucky . the hotel honored the lower price per night  for the whole stay and then Vixdad's office reimbursed him for the whole time

The rest of the people in his office, being local folks, had checked out after the party and headed home when the storm hit so we had no one else to hang out with ..   we ended up wandering over to a sports bar next door that had a trivia  game going on for a good part of  most days

I'm really wondering how they did this.  They must have some sort of formula that picks the photos and posts. Whatever it is, it's really cool

Just wanted to say I enjoyed everyone's vids of the individuals I am friends with.

Nice!

Question for Cilla: There of Callie that Callie posted on FB. Where was that picture taken. It is like she is peaking from behind something. What kind of camera did you use?  Nice picture!

The one of Ricky that's half a face?   He was peeking behind my computer monitor.  I don't know if I used my phone or my little Olympus digital camera.  It wasn't a fancy camera.  I did edit it to increase the saturation of the color, but that's about it

It's late and I have to go to the office and then the doctor in the morning.  I didn't get anything done on the brief I was going to write today, but I did get some rest and I think I needed that.  Night

Just relaxing.  What a concept.  Went into the first chapter and added one little thing for Muse Margaret - just a description of a room

Congratulations and celebrations vibes!
Perchance, any mention of fish?  (This question was posed by dear cat Minny.)

Since we're behind on two titles, I think Monday's release will be the new re-release of Jeepers Creepers.

Congrats, BK!! :D

And on that note (G#), I'm off to the theater!

Be back later.

Break a leg...

Thanks, DakotaCelt!  Tonight's show was pretty good.  I didn't realize that there are two actors switching off playing Piglet.  Tonight, actor number 2 rehearsed.  He gives a very different performance than actor number 1 (who's a woman), but they both give very good performances.  It's going to be a delightful show.

My browser has a "Download the video" link in the upper right hand of the video when I hover my cursor over it while it's playing.  I was able to save my video, and any other video, if I wanted (or were asked).
