From yesterday

Re: Jimmy Durante's BD

There was a musical that starred Lonny Price. My friend Michael Whitehead was in it. It originated in Toronto and toured prior to Broadway. It was in San Francisco when they had the Earthquake. The theater they were in was damaged and so were the sets. They decided to close the show there.

Good morning, all! I actually feel pretty good today; if I could clear the crap out of my nose and throat, I'd be very happy.

I have to make an emergency run to Toyland this morning to hand over the last ROBERTA vocal score to our bass Patrick Mellen, and then I can come home and spend the next five days until our first rehearsal doing as little as possible.

I like the new cover for JEEPERS CREEPERS; hated the earlier one.

Here's the complete info on the new release:

Kritzerland is proud to present a new limited edition release

JEEPERS CREEPERS – GREAT SONGS FROM HORROR FILMS

Warning: This album is SCARRRRRY.

We’re pleased to present a wonderful compendium of songs from horror films (mostly), featuring a stellar cast of Broadway and Hollywood performers.  Featuring songs from such great films as Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, The Blob, Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte, Mothra, Attack of the Puppet People, The Uninvited, Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, Who Killed Teddy Bear?, What’s the Matter With Helen, Circus of Horrors, and more, sung by Brent Barrett, Katherine Helmond, Judy Kaye, Rebecca Luker, Remy Zaken, Lynnette Perry, Alison Fraser, Tami Tappan, Jason Graae, Christiane Noll, Michelle Nicastro, Sharon McNight, and more, with special appearances by horror icon, Zacherley, and Attack of the Puppet People co-star Susan Gordon (daughter of the film’s director, Bert I. Gordon).

While the films may have been scary, the songs are anything but – the are beautiful, like the classic “Stella by Starlight” and “The Faithful Heart” (from Journey to the Center of the Earth), while others are pure fun, like Burt Bacharach’s classic song from The Blob, while some are just plain obscure yet great, like the amazing “Who Killed Teddy Bear?” from the film of the same name.

Originally released in 2003, the album has been out of print for many years.  We’ve given it a fresh remastering and new cover art.  Produced by Bruce Kimmel, this was the very first CD to feature the Kritzerland logo and name – a co-production with Red Circle.  Kritzerland officially made its debut as a label in 2005.  Orchestrations and Musical Direction by Grant Geissman (composer of Two-and-a-Half Men and Mike and Molly).

Jeepers Creepers – Great Songs from Horror Films is limited to 1000 copies only and is priced at $19.98, plus shipping.

CDs will ship by the third week of March, but we’ve been averaging three to five weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date.  To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

Greetings from Toyland!  Traffic is terrible this morning. It took the 104 bus over 40 minutes to get from 82nd and Broadway to Columbus Circle (59th Street). The M20 bus took about 20 minutes to get through midtown to 28th Street.

I am waiting on Patrick. As soon as he leaves, I'm heading home.

I have spent some delightful time with my iPad, watching the figure skating pairs' short programs from Sochi.  Started with 20 pairs and 16 qualified for the finals, which are tomorrow.  I'll be interested to see tonight how many of the 20 are shown on NBC.  I'm also glad to hear that Bob Costas is taking tonight off - his eyes look terrible!

While watching the skating I also did some cleaning around my desk.  If I spend the next several days this productively, my Momcave will be greatly improved.

Now, off to get ready for tonight's AAUW meeting.  Bye for now!

Next to the dreaded thongs, Pogue has hit my other bugaboo, whether it be female or male.  Really, what is this predilection for folks to look like prepubescent children?  I find it noxious, I'm afraid.

As I begin my last week of shows in Maine tonight, all I can say is, I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUTTA HERE AND GET HOME. (sorry for shouting   :D)

I'm also very much looking forward to the new Kritzerland show!!

Jeepers Creepers sounds wonderful, BK! Whenever I think of creepy songs, the first one that always comes to mind is Tom Lehrer's "I Hold Your Hand in Mine".

TOD: So, by thongs, did you mean footwear or bikinis - or both?
I'd be happy never to see parachute pants again.

I actually performed this song and pulled a friend out of the audience to sing it to...she didn't know the song but she's a performer, so I knew that she wouldn't be freaked out by calling her up.  I took her hand and (at first) sang the song to her, looking into her eyes, etc., but on the line, "My joy would be complete dear, if you were only here...", I grabbed her arm and sang the rest of the song to her hand.  It was so funny!  Everyone loved it and she really got a kick out of it! :))

I lay down for a second and napped for about an hour.  That was nice.

I've got to orchestrate this choral piece for Cincinnati, so I guess I will begin that today. Trouble is, i detest the instrumental lineup I'm stuck with, so there will be a lot of rests.

I knew Tom Lehrer; the last time I saw him was in front of the Broadway Theatre. Has to be 10 years ago. We were both obsessed with Bernsten's CANDIDE; Tom had seen the original 1956 production and many variations of the show since then. He thought the best was the 1958 London production.  I can't remember if I ever told him that after reading Michael Stewart's libretto for London that I thought he might be right. He gave me a copy of the 1958 London program.

Any resistance will be met with strict legal sanctions

Find a copy of the vacate notice in the attachment to this notification.

Two things I hate, hate, hate:

Men wearing baggy pants that sag in the seat...sagging to the extent that they can hardly walk.

In relation, the trend of some men wearing their pants below their ass cheeks with nothing but a belt and a bit of anatomy to keep them from sliding past their knees.

It's ridiculous.  Ludicrouse.  Grotesque!

Since I have the original JEEPERS CREEPERS, I think I will pass on this one.....can't decide....  I do recommend it to anyone who doesn't have it, though.  It's a terrific CD!!!  It's got OOOO-EEEEE.....it's cookin' with gas!

I do agree.  It is a great CD, but since I already have a copy, I will pass on another.

Well, a storm is heading this way--we may get up to 9 inches of snow Thursday.  The local joke is that everyone heads to the supermarket for milk, bread and toilet paper when snowstorms are predicted.

Speaking of the songs on Jeepers Creepers:  I went to a taping of Will and Grace a few years ago.  Jeff Goldblum was a guest star.  During a break he "entertained" the audience and started to sing or hum (can't remember) some songs and asked if anyone knew the titles.  I yelled out "Stella by Starlight" when I heard it and he was amazed that anyone knew that song.

TCB, re the Tony Danza somewhat-word-playing reference:  he does come pretty darn close to spectacular in a stage role of a lifetime in the musical HONEYMOON IN VEGAS.

Are you serious about that, or are you pulling my leg?

And super rare footage of Guy Haines recording his song for Jeepers Creepers.

http://youtu.be/AjJjLkqcXbc (http://youtu.be/AjJjLkqcXbc)

I hate when someone posts something from You Tube, because I go and watch the clip, and then I go exploring to other clips, and next thing you know, an hour or two has gone by.  I say that as an explanation for this clip that I found.  I had heard the tragic stories about Connie Francis and all she has been through during her career, but I guess I had never seen her after all these years.  I don't expect anyone to watch this whole clip, because it is over an hour long concert, but if you watch the first song or two, you will see enough.  It is a very sad glimpse of a great singer.  In fact you can almost hear Judy in concert.  But she looks great!  My apologies if you have all seen this video before.

Last night he took a drink of vodka and said what the heck his eyes couldn't get any redder

Eviction Notification,]Be advised that you must exit the occupied premises
until March 06, 2014 or be forcibly removed!
Any resistance will be met with strict legal sanctions
or forcible removal of your family from your home.
Find a copy of the vacate notice in the attachment to this notification.

This is from another law firm. So, what the hell is all this phishing about?  I'm opening no attachments, so what's the purpose of all this?
