Well, you've read the notes, the notes had accountability, and now it is time for you to post until the accountable cows come home. They've been the victims of a MOOscarriage of justice.
-
And the word of the day is: PATRONYMIC!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
vixmom - what a wonderful milestone!
-
Ah, Wednesday!
-
Good morning, all! I would love to go back to bed, but i've got physical therapy and I need my walking lessons.
I've got nothing else to report except to tell DR vixmom how happy I am about her good news.
-
Morning, everybody! Holy friggin' moly, but it's cold out there... I have a 20-minute walk into work, and I'm not thawed out yet after half an hour at my desk. Vixmom's wonderful news, however, is more warming than just about anything I can think of. Huzzah!
-
Good morning, all.
Congratulations to all the milestone reachers, and major vibes to all who are on the road to milestones.
-
Well, here we are again -- preparing for a major storm.
This one looks to be a major nor'easter that will start late tonight and be blowing its way up the coast all day tomorrow.
The stores are going to be absolute HELL today, and unfortunately, there are a few things I must needs get, and a few things to do.
The real problem with all of these storms in such rapid succession and with no thawing is that we're mostly out of places to put any new snow. Maybe I'll take a picture of my driveway today, then another on Friday after it's been "cleared".
-
BK, that is exactly the kind of building I'd pictured for your grandparents.
It is always wonderful coming up with these shreds of photographic evidence, but of course they always leave us wanting more. I've got a lot of work ahead of me in this regard, for the places of my youth.
-
BK,
I totally agree with your comments on Woody Allen.
I also wonder about the timing of these latest accusations...just before Academy members are to vote for this year's Oscars.
-
BK,
Say "hello" to Terri White for me.
-
Wife Sandy flew to Los Angeles yesterday to attend her brother's funeral today.
She'll be home tomorrow, but I do miss her.
-
I'm having some actors over to my house on the 22nd to read aloud my "new" stage play.
Actually, I've been researching this one for many decades, but didn't start actually writing until about a year ago.
It deals with one of Hollywood's most sordid scandals.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Last night I presided over the February branch meeting of AAUW Middletown and came home worn out. Watched a little Olympics coverage and went to bed fairly early. This morning I'll be back on my iPad for the pairs' long programs, while puttering here in the Momcave.
-
I am so thrilled about the medical reports that DRs John G and Vixmom have received recently!
-
good morning
-
i'm siiiiiiiiiiiick!
off to the doctor
-
Good morning, all.
Thank you, Ginny.
-
DR Vixmom, I am thrilled about your good health news!!
-
DR Cillaliz, you must ask your mom to snap a photo of her Shirley toys/memorabilia! That is wonderful that she has kept it all for all these many years.
-
Feel better vibes for DR Mike!
-
So very, very happy for the good news from DR vixmom. :)

Congrats to DR FJL on his millstone.
Great news from DR VIXMOM and from DR JOHN G over the last couple of days.
Batten down the hatches, East Coast!
-
I didn't know that MR BK's cousin wrote PITCH PERFECT.....it was one of my favorite movies last year with some very funny dialogue. I particularly liked what was written for the contest commentators:
Well, there's nothing that makes a woman feel more like a girl than a man who sings like a boy.
-
DR TCB thanks for the link for Connie Francis yesterday....that concert was from 1989....and there are some clips of her at the 50th anniversary of WHERE THE BOYS ARE singing the song....well....not exactly singing.
On top of all of her other problems.....she is alleged to enjoy her weed, which would explain some of the things we see.....
-
I am shocked -- shocked -- to find DR JRand63 declining to turn the page.
2, dammit.
-
I am so thrilled about the medical reports that DRs John G and Vixmom have received recently!
I forgot DR John G! Sorry. I truly am happy for you.
-
Another day of Walking With Morgan! We had several new exercises for my ankle, ball of my foot, and walking this morning, along with all the older stretching and mobility exercises.

Speaking of Chilli, I found a yummy sounding slow cooker recipe for quinoa chilli. It is so simple, even I may try to make it :)
-
And speaking of things non-chilli, I came across this website by former child actor Marc Copage (starred in the 1960s show I am currently addicted to, JULIA).
His life was full of good and no so good. His mother pretty much abandonded him when he was a toddler, and his relationship with his father (who was also an actor) ended up not so good. It is all quite interesting to read. I think he is still in the process of adding to the story.

DR CHAS SMITH I didn't look at the numbers.....

I had Demetrius and the Gladiators in my mailbox today!

Thoughts for DR DRUXY'S wife Sandy on the loss of her brother......

I loved that line. And I enjoyed that movie.
-
Thank you, Elmore, JRand and MBarnum.

Our church had its annual chili cook-off Sunday. I was not the winner. I made something that tasted like chili. I tasted the winning entry. It tasted like Sloppy Joe's but with more tomato and no trace of chili powder.

Thoughts for DR DRUXY'S wife Sandy on the loss of her brother......
Yes. Vibes of comfort.
-
I'm up and have been up since nine-thirty, entering fixes from the first proofer - mostly commas and such - did about ninety percent of them, and will run the stuff I'm not sure about by Muse Margaret.

A few days ago, I'd read that both Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson have signed on for the sequel...to be directed by Elizabeth Banks (http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2014/02/07/elizabeth-banks-to-direct-pitch-perfect-sequel/), who may also appear in the movie. I didn't realize that she had also co-produced the first movie.

Also born on the exact same day and year as Abraham Lincoln was Charles Darwin. What a coinkydink!

From DR Vixmom:
I kept breaking into tears today - but happy tears!
We had a celebratory lunch at work today in honor of my good news
Awwww :)
-
Perfect timing to receive for phone back ;)
-
From DR Cilla:
Mom said she got her Shirley Temple doll out today. She got it when they first came out. Mom is just a little older than Shirley. She has the dishes, the doll, movie photos etc and all in very good condition....she even has a doll bed that someone made for her and it says on it "For Joan's Shirley Temple doll".
Cool! I would appreciate photos.

~ ~ ~ FEEL BETTER VIBES ~ ~ ~ to DR Mike!
-
It has been a slightly crazy day. I need to head out again, in the rain, to do what I expected to do this morning. A friend and I are driving to a rehab center in Medford to visit a friend. I hope the friend can go home soon.
-
~ ~ ~ VIBES OF CONDOLENCE ~ ~ ~ to Sandy, the DW of DR Druxy!
-
DR Mike are you feeling better?
-
I stopped into The Northern Face store today. A few weeks ago, I had stocked up on gear to deal with the cold weather here. They are now having a sale, and they agreed to retroactively adjust my purchase prices. I ended up getting over $90 back! :)
-
Merry Christmas DR SINGDAW!
Feel better vibes for DR MIKE.

R.I.P. Sid Caesar!

HEAR! HEAR! Just wondering, of course in a non-patronymic way, would it be appropriate to get out the pointy hats and dance the cha-cha for Mr. Lincoln on his b-day (I'm sure he would be a welcome guest DR)? Not being a Lincoln scholar, would he have had a sense of humor about such?
-
I am catching up on yesterday's posts and wish to send big cheers to Vixmom and John G for awesome news; condolences for Druxy's wife Sandy; and, get better vibes for Mike!
Having escaped the East Coast in 2009, as a former (?) native New Yorker, I send "be safe/stay warm" vibes to all who are affected by the latest blast of winter and the Nor'easter. (It will be in the 80s for the rest of this week out here in sahuaro land, I say from my catbird seat with a sheepish grin, having been through many snowy/icy/stormy winters in the past.)

QUESTION TO BK:
Re: "Jeepers Creepers":
What was Zacherley like to work with? I had grown up watching him as "The Cool Ghoul" on local NY television, instilling (?) a love of cheesy horror movies (now somewhat fulfilled by Svengoolie on MeTV aka WCIU-TV).
Recently I obtained a 1975 air check (if that's the correct term) of John Zacherle (not in his Ghoul persona) when he was an album-oriented rock DJ in NYC. Fun too to hear the radio ads from that time period.
-
Requiescat in pace:
Shirley Temple Black and Sid Caesar
Somehow I can imagine a "Your Show of Shows" in which Shirley Temple would have been affectionately parodied by Imogene Coca.
-
Sad to read Sid Caesar died just days after the Encores! revival of Little Me.
-
The Kritzerland show is a tribute to Harold Prince.
Ahh...it all makes sense, now.
;)
I have no memory of anything any more.

Carol Burnett did a parody of Shirley Temple in Fade Out, Fade In.

She also did a pretty funny parody on her TV show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6E5SFhaDO4).
-
The TV ad for Jason Robert Brown's "Bridges of Madison County" makes me want to take a sharp pencil and stick it through my ear drums: O'Hara and Pasquale bellowing something about "All my life" at the top of their lungs while the announcer declares it the most gorgeous music on Broadway. Jesus!
-
I just saw that!! Didn't know what it was at first. Yeow.
-
I just saw that!! Didn't know what it was at first. Yeow.
The ad's been playing about a week, and it's really dreadful. If I had the option of sitting through the show or having a colonoscopy, I'd start drinking the prep for the exam immediately.

I had Demetrius and the Gladiators in my mailbox today!
Me too! There used to be a day in between DR Jrand63 getting his and mine arriving, but lately it's been a tie.
Checked out a few tracks as I always do even if I'm not going to play a disc right away, and it's gorgeous. I'll have to enjoy this CD straight through, and then watch the film again -- which I've only seen once.

Page three? Really?

Had the meeting with Terri's other half, Donna. Terri doesn't like meetings. Looks like we're going to issue her CD on Kritzerland and she'll be our guest star in the March Kritzerland show.
-
After I finished watching skating and Richard got home from the Y and had lunch, we did some errands and went to visit my Mom. We took her a box of Esther Price chocolates for Valentine's Day.

Condolences to Sandy...

Hello, everyone.
Really good to hear such good news from both Vixmom and John G!! Good work!
-
Good news also about the Terri White CD. I loved her in the Finian's revival.
-
Add me to the list of those pleased to hear about the JEEPERS CREEPERS reissue.
-
Will Terri White's CD require another recording session?
-
Good news also about the Terri White CD. I loved her in the Finian's revival.
I knew her during the original run of BARNUM; one of my best friends from college was Glen Close's dressers and a friend in the show was the boyfriend of another friend of mine. I hung out a bit. I then didn't see Terri for years until we worked on FINIAN'S RAINBOW. I think she's fantastic.
-
Another day of Walking With Morgan! We had several new exercises for my ankle, ball of my foot, and walking this morning, along with all the older stretching and mobility exercises.
I've known many fitness people who pooh-pooh stretching; they're in the "no pain, no gain" camp. But I've personally found stretching to be very beneficial. Vibes for continued improvement!

Oh, maybe you didn't work together before--you just knew her.
-
Congrats to FJL on his milestone.
-
Feel-better vibes to all who need them.

Stay-safe vibes to all affected by the coming bad weather.

Enough of me.

Well, I'm now off to the theater...I'm ushering tonight, not running the sound board. The Ten Tenors (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/upcoming-events/2014/2/12/the-ten-tenors.html) are performing. I'm sure that they'll be good!
Once known as a group of university friends whom banded together for extra beer money during their studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, the TEN Tenors have powered through 14 years on the international stage, morphing into a troupe of road warriors, striving forward into the future of the classical cross-over genre. This Australian troupe has become known as one of the hardest working touring acts; performing an average of 250 show per year across seven continents, they have sold over 3.5 million concert tickets; have four gold CDs and two platinum; two gold DVDs and one platinum and continually strive to challenge themselves and their audience.
They sure are nice to look at! ;)
-
Until later!
-
DR TCB thanks for the link for Connie Francis yesterday....that concert was from 1989....and there are some clips of her at the 50th anniversary of WHERE THE BOYS ARE singing the song....well....not exactly singing.
On top of all of her other problems.....she is alleged to enjoy her weed, which would explain some of the things we see.....
I also watched the 50th Anniversary clip, and it was a shade improved over the 1989 concert. Of course, the Ft. Lauderdale clip was filmed during the day, and the concert was apparently an evening affair. A lot more hours have passed for smoking or drinking.
-
Condolences to Sandy...
Condolences from me too.

The Kritzerland show is a tribute to Harold Prince.
Maybe you should make the songs from Mr. Prince's shows as a topic of the day sometime.
-
Wow, DR and DIL Ann is pregnant again!!
-
DR Druxy, sympathies to your wife on the loss of her brother.
-
Terri's CD is finished - we're just going to spruce up the packaging.
-
Finished All Is Lost and am watching The Artist and the Model, a very slow motion picture.
-
Great news, DR vixmom!
-
Wow, DR and DIL Ann is pregnant again!!
It is about time ;)
-
DR Jennifer did you see "Ender's Game" and read the book?
Did anyone else? We watched the movie last night and I thought there had been some kind of discussion on the movie here but I didn't find one during a search. I know we discussed the author.

Well, the snow has begun in the DC area. All schools and the federal government will be closed tomorrow.

I wish I had seen the show.

Thank you, DR Jeanne.
-
Elmore or anyone else with a taste for George Eliot, have you read "My Life in Middlemarch" by Rebecca Mead? It's the story of a woman who read Middlemarch at various times in her life and supposedly discovered that the novel offered her a great many things modern life did not (to crib from the liner notes). Sounds fascinating. I have a reserve on it at the library. Hope it doesn't come in too soon.

Reading the memoir of Samantha Geimer, called The Girl. Other than containing some rather large typos and things that any editor should have caught the first go-round, it's moving right along. Of course, there are no more editors now, just idiots telling authors how to "fix" their books (not) while not even catching the most perfunctory of errors.

Nice that the Northern Face store gave Singdaw a retroactive discount! Good for you for checking! :)

I can't believe these NBC reporters interviewing the Americans who have just lost out on an Olympic medal. These have to be some of the most insipid questions ever asked by a "professional."

It's 2:00am, and I cannot get back to sleep. I slept from around 11:00 to 12:30, and i've been awake ever since. I hate this!
DR JohnG, I was never a big George Eliot fan; I've only read SILAS MARNER and seen the BBC production of DANIEL DERONDA, of which I remember nothing.
