And the word of the day is: CREPITATE!
My oldest nephew's wedding is today. Luckily the weather is nice, and it should be about 80 degrees (which is good since the wedding is outdoors).
I discovered I never entered a book I read last year onto Goodreads which means I read 155 books, not 154. I am very proud of myself as I have only read thirteen, as in the title of today's notes, books this year. Granted most of them were somewhat long books but then I often read long books.
DUh.....how could I have forgotten MR BK's two books?
I am properly chastised and they move to the top of the list.
Apple pie in the oven. My first ever....
I uninstalled a few programs that I installed on Thursday, and now my new computer is working as it is supposed to......
AND I can use FireFox as my browser without all the problems. AND I did it all myself.

Back from some errands and whatnot.

It's like winning a GOLD MEDAL!
Just found out that a friend of mine from college days, Angelo Henderson, who went on to win a Pulitzer Prize and became a well-known radio personality in Detroit, has died. No details on cause of death. Nothing.
Had seen Angelo since I graduated back in 1983. But I followed his career.
A Splurch in the Kisser
A Splurch in the Kisser
Or, if you've been drinking, A Kurch in the Splisser.
Only water, DR John G. Only water.
Although the mere idea of "conscious footwear" of any kind is likely to drive me to it. :)
Been sleeping off and on all day, and I definitely feel better for it. I think I'm up for a movie, and I think that movie is going to be Dassin's THIEVES' HIGHWAY.

Good morning, all! I slept late and this morning I had a lot of emails concerning the ROBERTA recording sessions to deal with. I took a vocal score to Encores! last week for our rehearsal pianist, who wasn't there, and this morning - the day before our first rehearsal - he asked about his score and what we're rehearsing tomorrow. Oy!
DR TCB, I like your new avatar, and I don't want you retiring from acting. There. I've said it. I cannot force you, cajole you, or bribe you, nor do I wish to. I simply think it would be a loss to you and the community. You're too young to retire.
The best biography i've read lately is Paul Kildea's Benjamin Britten: A Life In The Twentieth Century. I like biography, autobiographies not so much, particularly the me-me-me self-serving ones. Some of the other ones that I liked very much:
Charmed Circle: Gertrude stein & Company (Mellow)
Jane Austen: A Life (Tomalin)
Act One (Hart)
George Gershwin: His Life and Work (Pollack)
Secret Muses: The Life of Frederick Ashton (Kavanaugh)
Marie Antoinette:The Journey (Fraser)

...and, how is she, DR Vixmom?
I read an interesting article in this month's SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN about how things we think of as unlikely, like winning the lottery, aren't really so unlikely after all. It's written by a mathematician, but it's easy enough to skip over the math if you prefer.

Thank you, DR elmore, for the comments about my retiring. It would probably be easier to give up breathing.

Found out yesterday that my elderly parishioner was found by her neighbor lying on her kitchen floor and was rushed to the hospital so I was there last night

...and, how is she, DR Vixmom?
she didn't break anything but she was dehydrated and disoriented we are not sure how long she was there but best guess is 12 -18 hours
Marinating the flank steak for steak fajitas in olive oil, salt and pepper, garlic powder, cilantro and tequila.
I don't really get much feedback from the proofers about what they actually thought of the book, which is, I think, due to the fact that they're simply concentrating on their proofing work, but proofer two told me that she liked the story. I'll take it!

We are watching women's curling on CNBC. One of the sweepers was born here in Middletown, OH, and lived here until she was 9.

I watched a lot of curling today with my niece. Is curling big in the US? I am really enjoying the Canadian women's team.
All I know Jennifer is how many people on facebook that have commented how boring it is, except for the Norwegian team with the wild pants.

DR Jennifer, curling is only "big" in the US every 4 years ;)
Off to Java Johnny's - bye for now!
I watched my Britcoms at 8, and now i'm watching Carry On Screaming. Jim Dale is so young!

DR TCB, Java Jive is a much cuter building than Java Johnny's. It's also the title of one of the Miami University Men's Glee Club's signature songs.

It's also one of the signature tunes for The Manhattan Transfer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okl_UGDKb70)! :D

That's terrible! I'm so sorry, John G. :(

Off to Kristin Chenoweth. But first, a cocktail.
