Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of bumper stickers, and now it is time for you to post until the bumper stickered cows come home.

Good morning, all! Around 6:30 the anxiety attack began, and by 6:45 I was out of bed. My last dream had something to do with illustrator Edward Ardizzone, an artist whose work has never much appealed to me, and those photos of high rise construction workers lunching on steel beams hanging hundreds of feet off the ground.

So, today is an overdub day at the studio; the seven Collegians will record to the orchestra tracks everything they have to sing except for their two numbers with Jason Graae, which we will record on Tuesday evening. Jason is off today with a Lyrics & Lyricists concert at the 92nd Street Y, and he joins us on Tuesday.  We also have Jeanne Lehman, Laura Daniel, Stephen Cole, Tally Sessions, and Patrick Cummings to sing various things with them. We need to finish up the numbers with Patrick and Tally by 2:00; they have to get to a 2:00 matinee.

So, I need to run to the corner bodega to pick up lunch, some bottled water, and milk. I need coffee!  I have to be out of here in 90 minutes.

Yesterday we had a very good day at the World of Wisdom....we $707+....which is pretty good when your highest priced item is $5.....   And I made over $237 in commission which is always nice for the paycheck.

Then I just had to respond to an e-mail Nick Redman forwarded me from some reviewer on one of these Blu-ray sites, that was complaining about The Blue Max and what he "perceived" as a teal push.  This has become the most nonsensical horse manure in the history of home video and tomorrow's notes will be going into this in detail.  I wrote Nick a lengthy response, explaining what how he should respond.

Greetings, all, and happy Sunday!

First, Happy Birthday DR Druxy!

Gonna be a busy day here with lots of prep. I have three auditions in the next 2 days (all of which need special material music choices), our first Kritzerland rehearsal tomorrow, a gig in Phoenix on Wednesday, and more Kritzerland singing on Thursday. Woosh! I do love it when it's busy right after a show closes though.

Have fun and someone laze about for me, will ya?  :D

I was feeling so much better yesterday and thinking that I was finally over the shingles+virus du jour. Then, this morning I could barely get out of bed I was so dizzy. I know that the bug that's going around is widespread and can take a couple weeks to get over, but I hadn't heard of dizziness as one of the symptoms. Maybe that's just me. In any case, I'm feeling a bit better and was able to shower without mishap. I'll take it easy the rest of the day. I got a lot done yesterday--more than I expected--and, like Cilla, I feel better when laundry and cleaning are done. Now it's rest.

I love Conroy's writing. I think the big problem here is I read the book after seeing the movie and too much has been left out. Too much stuff I loved.

I agree but there was no way they could have included all of the book.

Conroy's a character, and I mean that in the best way. When he came to a book convention in Sarasota, he had one prerequisite for the person doing the interview with him: The person had to have read at least one of his books. The journalist didn't have to like them, but he had to have read at least one of them.

There was only one person in the newsroom who had done that, so Charlie got the job, and he did a great interview with him for both the newspaper and for the TV station we ran. When Conroy came into the newsroom for the TV interview, he was gregarious and full of Southern charm, stopping to talk with folks. We even talked for about a minute or so, about what I can't remember.

I just realized later that he didn't want to deal with superficial questions about his work. And by that point, he was so well known that he didn't have to.

Very interesting story John.  While not everyone has the clout to do that, I completely agree with his prerequisite.

And I am home two hours early! We began at 11:00 on the dot with the men's Madrigal, following which we sent Patrick Cummings, our leading man, off to his matinee at the Irish Rep. Then we did the Tally Sessions' three numbers. Thing were going so smoothly that we also got the second half of "Let's Begun" with the quartet and the septet, which was scheduled for the afternoon after Tally had gone off to his matinee.  Jeanne Lehman, Laura Daniel, and Steve Cole sang with the ensemble for "Clementina." We finished at 1:20, recorded a line of Steve's to be inserted into the Act One Finale dialogue, and broke for lunch a half hour early.

After break, we did the men's ensemble on "Lovely To Look At," sent three men home and recorded the Act Two quartet version of "Let's Begin." That set, we had nothing else to do today. On Tuesday night, when Rob's rehearsals with Steve Martin's workshop are over for the day, we'll record the two ensembles with Jason Graae, "Act One Finaletto" with Patrick and Tally, and his big number with the boys in the band, "Don't Ask Me Not To Sing." During the day,we'll plough through the dialogue.

DR George how far from you does Margo live?  It is good she didn't have to spend the evening waiting until you could drive her home.

I personally think Native American is more appropriate than Indian which I find confusing when there is an entire country of Indians in India.  I have read that Native Americans still say Indian.

Audition vibes! I hope it goes well!

Were you there?  Was there damage?  How is your mother?

I was at my mother's over the weekend to do some projects for her and wash clothes. Around 330 yesterday, we heard a pop and loud crack. Looked out the patio door and there was nothing in direction of the train tracks. Nothing on the street. However, when I went into the living room the bay window had three bullet holes from a bb gun. We were both at the table in the kitchen, she was winding a spool and I was looking something up on a laptop on a yarn site for her. She lives in Thompson, an hour north of Fargo.

Did you call the police?  I'm not sure they can do anything, however, they might find out who owns the bb gun and give a warning.

Well, "The House at Pooh Corner" is no more.  It's all done and I'm home...but not for long.  Tonight, Theater Artists Olympia is having a meeting to discuss our taking over The Midnight Sun performance space!!  It's a little converted storefront where TAO has performed in the past.  The space also rents out to other groups for concerts, readings, burlesque strip shows (no kidding!), so it gets used.  It's just that the current manager is just getting tired of doing it and wants out.  She would also like TAO to take over because we're a performing group and she's performed in several of our shows.  There's no way that we could do "The Rocky Horror Show" there, but HOPEFULLY, it can work out for us to finally have our own theater! :D

DR George how far from you does Margo live?  It is good she didn't have to spend the evening waiting until you could drive her home.

I personally think Native American is more appropriate than Indian which I find confusing when there is an entire country of Indians in India.  I have read that Native Americans still say Indian.

Margo only lives about six miles away from me, so it's pretty close.  And these "Indians" were definitely NOT from India, nor were they even remotely "Native Americans."  They had too much pastel and fluorescent and neon colors to be "Native Americans." ;D

Yes, that's correct.  My Native friends here refer to themselves as Indian and the subcontinental Indians as East Indians.  BTW, my Native friends were (and are) fans of the Indians on "F Troop" never taking offense.  However, they did not like the Iron Eyes Cody "Keep America Beautiful" ads.  Ironically, both main Indians were portrayed by Italian-American actors.

And she did.  Lots of ins and outs in tonight's finale.

When I left the session this afternoon, our 3-time Grammy winning producer Judy said to me, "Thank you for dragging me into this project." About an hour ago, I realized that in January or February of 1984, 30 years ago, I met her at RCA Studios on Sixth Avenue between 42nd and 43rd Street on the first session of my very first recording, "Songs of New York," conducted by John McGlinn. I also met at those sessions my friends Kim Criswell, DavidGarrison, Karla Burns, and the late Joel Imbody. I had already worked with others who sang on the recording through Bill Tynes' New Amsterdam Theatre Company: Judy Kaye, Cris Groenendaal, Ron Raines, Debbie Gravitte, and the late great Paula Laurence.

The last time I saw Cathy do PETER PAN, "Ugg A Wugg" was one of the biggest showstoppers in the entire show.

Wow, this day of mostly relaxation turned into anything but.  The reason: While I was eating my luncheon, Grant sent me a PDF of the book layout.  So, I came home, put it on a little flash drive and went and had it printed out for my final proofing.  And that is literally what I did all day up until six-fifteen, when I went over to Grant's and we entered all the corrections.  The book looks incredible.

I didn't realize that about Iron Eyes Cody, Dan.  Thank you.

Stephen Cole, as in, composer Stephen Cole?

Stephen Cole, librettist and lyricist who wrote the musical version of NIGHT OF THE HUNTER that BK recorded.

I didn't go to bed. I stayed up and watched all of DOWNTON ABBEY. Now I'm going to bed.

That was the one I was wondering about,

We're hoping to turn it around quickly, but certainly in the next eight weeks or so.  I hadn't quite finished proofing the final three chapters when I went to Grant's, whereas I'd gone over all the other chapters with a fine tooth comb, finding things that I and my three proofers had all missed.  So, when I got home, I then did the fine tooth comb bit on the last three chapters and indeed found four little things to fix.  I've sent that to Grant and he'll send me a new PDF as soon as he puts them in at some point tomorrow.

Dakota are there any kids nearby that may have been target shooting and didn;t realize the range of their gun or do youthink it was intentional?

Not that I know of. Guns are not allowed within a mile of city limits. Plus there is over three feet of snow on the ground in that area.

Thanks.  I have never heard of East Indians-lol

Jane, I have freinds and relatives who will use Native or American Indian, depending on the context of the friendship or relationship. In ND and MT, it is a tricky as to which one ot use due to the legacy of AIM in this area. I use Native in most circumstances. American Indian is used in some situations. My Canadian cousins who have Metis ancestry, use the phrase First Nations.

It was a nice weekend break to start until my mother's house got shot at over the weekend. Yes, in North Dakota!

She filed a police report for insurance purposes.

I hope she has a good deductible.

VIBES THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN!!!!

I hope so too!  I also hope the little twerp is caught!

That is horrible.  Do they know who is responsible?

NO idea but I got the impressions there has been a spree before in Thompson.

Natives were played, until recently, by whites in bad black wigs, Italians, or Latinos.

I hope it happens for you guys!

DITTO!

Thanks!  Well, I think we got it!  During our meeting tonight, a text was received from the current manager of the space saying that she would like to work with us!  I don't remember the exact wording, but it was pretty clear that no one else is being considered!  That would be so cool!  The only thing that I'm worrying about is how difficult will it be for us to come up with the monthly rent??  Fortunately, we have a little bit in our bank account right now and a couple of fund raisers are already being planned, but ideas were bandied about and discussed.  We have a home!!

We use the term "season" for what the UK calls a "series," so it's all good.
