Well, you've read the notes, the notes began and had a journey, and how it is time for you to post until the beginning cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MASLIN!

That's a great picture, Laura!
-
I was hoping it would be smaller.
-
good morning to all
-
growing up i thought all comedians were jewish
-
Thanks, DR Laura - that is super! :)
-
growing up i thought all comedians were jewish
Aren't they? ;D
-
The host of last night's seder inserted jokes and trivia into the proceedings as we worked our way through the siddur.
It made it fun and more kid-friendly, as there were quite a few young children and teenagers present.
-
The hunt for the afikomen was quite elaborate, with teams and clues. The whole hunt alone took about 35 minutes. And of course, no one gets dessert until it is found!
-
A boisterous but charming 6 year old belted out a Passover song - specially written words to the tune of "LET IT GO." You can't get away from that song now.
I've read that FROZEN merchandise cannot be found in any stores, and parents are at their wit's end.

Laura that is beautiful!
-
The past few days were warm ( 60's/70's) and beautiful but today it is grey and cloudy and they are threatening snow flurries and or ice storm and temperatures in the low 30's today, tonight and tomorrow
-
well I have to get me to work Happy Passover to those that observe, a Blessed Holy Week to those that observe and VIBES for all!!
-
Happy Tuesday! What's in store for today?
-
Morning all.
That is all.

TOD:
Jack Benny
Don Rickles
Groucho Marx
Jack Carter (when he's angry)
The first comedian I recall seeing in person was Jack Benny. I was 10-11. He came to Seattle in a show with Sammy Davis, Jr. and Gisele MacKenzie.

Good morning, all! I had a very difficult time getting to sleep last night, between the pains in my legs and my stopped up head. Everything's complicated by the fact that all meds, neti pot, and other things I keep in the bathroom are now boxed away and difficult to locate. That wasn't good thinking on my part.
Hopefully, today the super will tear down the remainder of the ceiling, and Round One of this megillah will be over.
I have plenty of IRMA LA DOUCE work today, thanks to Joshie's visit with his brother Jeremy last night. I'm also on the last pages of the endless medley.
I'm looking forward to the LI'L ABNER reports.
-
For our DR TCB.
-
Good morning, all.
I always forget exactly which day is "Titanic Day". Thank you, DR Elmore.
-
I must needs do some more work on HAIRSPRAY today. This one will be the death of me. I did NOT get my other keyboard player(s), so the MD and I have been identifying the most critical parts from all three books. We've almost completely
sh thrown out K2 which is a lot of strings and synth brass. In this show, it seems that actually adds something interesting to the overall sound, but kiss it goodbye. Books 1 and 3 are critical, and I need to get this baby programmed to the best extent possible.
-
It sank?
-
It would be easier to name the Jewish comedians that I didn't like:
Myron Cohen
Sam Levinson
-
Three scenes blocked for GUYS & DOLLS, three more scenes tonight. I wish everyone could be there. Damned conflicts.

Well it's SNOWING here in West Seneca, NY
However on Holy Thursday it will be about 60 degrees. 8) 8) 8)
-
Goodbye for Now!!! :-* :-* :-*
-
Received my replacement MEN, WOMEN AND PIANOS. How great to have it back on my bookshelf! Should have done that a couple of years ago when mine got damaged.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! I was up early this morning to finish reading Jane Maas' Mad Women: The Other Side of Life on Madison Avenue in the '60s and Beyond for book group tonight. We're meeting 2 days early due to this Thursday being Maundy Thursday. The book is a quick read and I'm looking forward to tonight's discussion.
-
My sister called from Michigan at 9am to whine that "there's white crap all over my yard!" I said, "Mine, too!" and we had a nice chat about the weather, our Mom, and plans for my cousin's upcoming wedding.
Richard says the snow that fell overnight is a 2-week-late April Fool's joke.

~ ~ ~ CONTINUED RECOVERY IN-THE-RIGHT-DIRECTION VIBES ~ ~ ~ for DR Vixmom!

I have been diagnosed as potentially having sleep apnea, so next week I will be having a sleep study, pending insurance approval.
You go in and sleep, hooked up to all kinds of wires and gizmos.
-
Hope all is OK, David.
-
Tax season for early 2014 is done.
-
I have been diagnosed as potentially having sleep apnea, so next week I will be having a sleep study, pending insurance approval.
You go in and sleep, hooked up to all kinds of wires and gizmos.
DR Singdaw, Richard just went through that and now has a breathing machine. I started sleeping better as soon as he got it, and, now that he's used to it, he's sleeping better, too!
-
DR Singdaw, you will enjoy the sleep study. I did. I slept in a room that was the most comfortable I have ever slept in!
Plus, you will be soooooo glad to be getting this sleep apnea under control. Do not hesitate to give me a holler if you have any questions or fears or need advice. I have been going through the treatment for about 2 years now.

Oh, and the other thing is that you will find it amazing that so many people you know are going through it also, or their spouse, partner, parent, or sibling.
Glad it is working well for DR Richard, and for you DR Ginny!
-
BK, it is going to be so much fun hearing about how Lil Abner is going!
Lil Abner was the very first stage production that I was in, in High School. It was such great fun!
-
Skip and I had written a spec song about called "Put Your Pain in the Hands of A Jew"
I did a photo-montage video of it with Jewish comedians. (with thanks to BK for use of "oy and vey")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlzpDsd_q-k
-
We are still waiting for the photographic evidence of DR MBARNUM'S weekend.
DR SINGDAW I know you will benefit from the study. As DR MBARNUM and DR GINNY wrote, many people have benefited from the treatment.
-
Today I am rehearsing with my partner for Dancing With the Putnam County Stars, and then blocking three more scenes of GUYS & DOLLS.
Hmmmm.....I think I wrote that on Page One.....
-
Everything old is new again!

I've said it before, but it was my first, too (in the pit).

Dame Angela Lansbury! (http://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Photo-Flash-Queen-of-England-Makes-Angela-Lansbury-a-Dame-20140415#.U01VzCjOYUU)
-
DR David,
I will pray for you to be successful in your sleep Apnea study.
-
Goodbye for now!!! :) ;) :-*
-
The ceiling is down and work finished until Monday. I need to go in, dust, sweep and mop the floor.
-
I'm up - got up at ten so I got eight hours of blessed sleep.
-
Thanks, all, for the good thoughts and medical wishes. I appreciate them! I am sure it will be fine.
And - it isn't anything on the order of seriousness of what some other DRs are going (or have gone) through.
-

I've read that FROZEN merchandise cannot be found in any stores, and parents are at their wit's end.
There is some Frozen merchandise here. But what is not available here yet is the party supplies. My sis ordered hers online so my niece will have Frozen plates and cups for her birthday.
-
I'm looking forward to the FROZEN pizza.
-
I tell you, trying to schedule this damn And the World Goes Round pick-up date has become officially stupid. It took me two weeks to get a time that worked for everyone - now the musical director can't do it - and I would do it without him but unfortunately that can't happen, even though he's not actually conducting the session. Unbelievable - he's here EVERY weekend but the ONE weekend we can all do it - which means that this now gets pushed into June.
-
This will be the last darned post on this page.
-
This will be the first darned post on Page 3.
-
I'm looking forward to the FROZEN pizza.
;D ;D
-
I feel your pain MR BK......I am rehearsing with half a cast until the end of the month.....and it's a different half every night.
-
Off to half a rehearsal.
-
singdaw - Was it a LET IT GO / LET MY PEOPLE GO mash-up
like:
When Israel was in Egypt’s land,
We were oppressed so hard
So hard in fact we could not stand
And there lies the canard
No more shall we in bondage toil
Let’s all from bondage flee
Let's all come out with Egypt’s spoil
Let’s in the Lord be free
Let us go, let us go
Let us out from Egypt land
Let us go, let us go
Pharoah, can’t you understand
We’re leaving now, don’t care what you say
For the Lord is grand
The plagues will not bother us anyway
-
One of the four questions in our house is: Why must the music director be there? is that contractual or is he really needed?
-

Tax season for early 2014 is done.
I finally did my taxes this morning (before I went to bed). It was received, but they said it'll take 24-48 hours before I find out if it's actually "accepted."

Because his parents are paying.

Darn! My income tax return was rejected! It has something to do with my union dues deduction. I think I didn't use the correct code to indicate what it was, so they rejected it. I should be able easily fix it when I get home tonight...I hope.
-
Okay, here's what I found:
I got this message: Business Rule X0000-005 - The XML data has failed schema validation
This currently is the second most common error we see, and its not as scary as it sounds. You will receive this message when there is a data entry error. This is a simple correction.
First, your message will identify the form and line number where the error occurred on your return.
Look for one of two key phrases in the error message.
If you see the phrase is expected that means you left blank a required field.
If you see the phrase not facet-valid with that means you made an entry in the wrong format, i.e. you used a number where it should be blank, or used a description not allowed in the field.
For more information, see our Rejected return help page.
Yup...just a data entry issue. Whew! That will be easy to fix. :)
-
Just finished (and thoroughly enjoyed) "Victor Young at Paramount."
-
Just had to share. ;)
-
I'm now listening to the original cast recording of "Sondheim: Putting It Together" with Julie Andrews. (Ben, did you get my e-mails??)
-
Good Afternoon.

My world is riddled with ignorant people that I have to deal with. That's all I have to say about THAT.

You know, I still have not heard it. Or at least I have not realized that I have heard it.

Welcome to my world.

I have been diagnosed as potentially having sleep apnea, so next week I will be having a sleep study, pending insurance approval.
You go in and sleep, hooked up to all kinds of wires and gizmos.
Like Mike Barnum, I, too, am there. In fact, I was trying to schedule a followup, first time in a number of years. So, please, ask either of us questions. I didn't know anyone who was going through this when I was diagnosed, and then all of a sudden, people started telling me they've been living with for years. Support is a big deal in this process.
-
I am a little better - not anywhere near 100% , closer to 50% but things are moving in the right direction
100% better vibes for Vixmom.

Some wonderful, nimble rhymes in there. Really enjoyed it.

Great moon photo, Laura.
Well-behaved musical conductor vibes for BK.

Does Sammy Davis Jr. count?
Mel Brooks
Woody Allen
Sid Caesar
Jon Stewart
-
I've had some dinner, and I will start the last bit of IRMA LA DOUCE work. This afternoon, I cleaned up and mopped the bathroom and laundered the rug.

Thanks, John G!

Or, potty mouthed?

Health vibes to vixmom!

For our DR TCB.
Thank you, DR elmore.

Good morning, all.
I always forget exactly which day is "Titanic Day". Thank you, DR Elmore.
It struck the iceberg at 11:40 p.m. on April 14, and and sank at approximately 2:20 a.m. on April 15.

So many millionaires sank on the Titanic on April 15, that the IRS thought it would make a good Tax Deadline Day.

I remember seeing Buddy Hackett on an HBO special back in the late 70s or early 80s (unbeknownst to my parents ;) ). I agree. He was very dirty and VERY funny...even to my early-teenaged virginal ears. :D
-
TOD; Jack Benny, Jerry Seinfeld
-
Weird weather here. After temps in the 70's earlier, it's going to go down to the 20's tonight. Lots of rain today. If the timing had been different we would have ended up with a good amount of snow.

Coming soon: Soul Train: The Musical.
Sadly, I'm kinda interested. Was a big fan of the show as a kid.

Hey, George, yes I got your e-mail and your PM.

Deer Park Debbie, you need to get better. Good thoughts from Manhattan across Queens and out to Deer Park.

It's raining and 45 degrees!!!
Yesterday it was over 70 degrees!!!
-
It's not supposed to get any better tomorrow.
-
Hey, George, yes I got your e-mail and your PM.
Thanks again Peaches!!!
Great! (and where did "Peaches" come from...not that there's anything wrong with that ;))
-
Well, I must be off. Rehearsal, you know. Right now, I just sit there and feed them lines, but it's a necessary duty.
Be back later.
-
well my stuffed peppers were maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahvelous (if I do say so myself)
-
and since I made four and Vixdad and I each ate one we have dinner made for tomorrow as well
-
I am beginning to flag
I shall attempt to sleep through the night without the assistance of cough medicine I think the cough is reduced enough that it will work
-
John G at lunch today our resident foodie was talking about barbeque and how you can;t really get good barbeque hereabouts He is a fan of the barbque with more of "bite" (as a opposed to the really sweet stuff which I lean to )
by any chance can you suggest a mustard based barbeque sauce he could whip up? He is also trying to figure out how to barbeque "like they do in the South"
This is not a man afraid of a kitchen he just ordered a machine so he can make his own sausages at home
will there be tips and recipes in your new barbeque book or is it strictly a restaurant guide?
-
Chas - any snow up your way yet? They have threatened us with it but it does'lt seem cold enough for it though they do say tomorrow the high will be 28
there go my daffydowndillies and they had just bloomed very nicely too.... :(
-
oh goodness page five
-
I won't dance
-
don't ask me
-
I finally come back and every one has wandered off...just my luck
-
time for a nice cuppa and beddybye anyway
-
Good night all

On the barbecue sauce, I would suggest that he Google the style he likes and read two or three recipes before trying his own. that way he can include sugar or leave it out, add cumin or not, etc. Then he can doctor the recipe to his tastes. That's more fun anyway.
When it comes to barbecue, Texas isn't the South, so I would look for cookbooks from Memphis, North or South Carolina to find what he's looking for. We do have a good and easy pulled pork recipe that's going to be in the barbecue book.
There are about 40-50 recipes in all.
-
Sorry to answer you after you'd left, Vixmom. Hope you sleep well and feel better tomorrow. Big weekend ahead.
-
DR FJL - yes, the song was very much in that vein.... :)
-
Thanks, DR John G.!
-
There is also Kansas City Barbeque. Isn't Memphis dry rub and North Carolina more saucy?

The wind and cold rain this evening were pretty lousy. Later I heard sleet hitting the house, then it turned to snow, and we already have a covering on the grass and trees. Woops. UPDATE: It's now sticking to the driveway and sidewalk. And it looks like we'll be in it for another few hours. AND, of course, it's going down to below freezing.
The rest of this post has been strongly censored. :)
-
I wouldn't have censored it, ChasSmith.
-

Many different styles of barbecue throughout the county, which makes traveling fun. But as we discovered with Texas styles, the lines are beginning to blur. Pulled pork is not a Texas creation, but so many people want it now -- and it's cheaper than beef -- so you'll find it on menus in many more places than ever before.
-
And that's all I have for tonight.
Sleep tight, all.
-
Finally back home. Music learning rehearsals are not to my liking, but I have to be there to answer questions - still, it went well and our MD is doing a very good job.
-
After, a few of us went to the House of Pies where I had a short stack and eggs benedict - superb.
-
Page five? Really?
-
Most unseemly.

Where exactly IS everyone the last few days?

Is it July 22nd yet?
Because this is what we're getting on that day: http://www.criterion.com/boxsets/1055-the-essential-jacques-demy

Very nice to have the Demy set - but they shouldn't really act like Umbrellas and Rochefort are premieres in their restoration because they aren't.
