Well, you've read the notes, the notes were typical, and now it is time for you to post until the typical cows come home.

"FOUND" in Boston.

New ORIGINAL songs added to Broadway shows after they opened or for their tours.

We had a good rehearsal last night as well.  Better than I expected.  The leads are terrific and make up for the lackluster in some of the ensemble.  Nobody missed any entrances and all of the songs sounded good.

I staged Oldest Original Permanent Floating and Guys & Dolls the title tune and both really look good....

So on we go.  We get Sky tonight.....so this is his first music rehearsal, and we may do a bit of blocking as well....we shall see how the time goes.

Has a travelogue about states and cities around the world, maybe in the universe, been done?  (I Love Paris, Party in the USA, Foggy Day in London Town, The Rain in Spain, If It's Tuesday it Must Be Belgium, Mexican Hayride, and the like)

Good morning, all! I am really down at the moment and would have preferred staying in bed.  The mess in the apartment is really getting to me, I could not get it together to go to Toyland this morning, I've had no word back from my doctor, my father's company is going under, I'm worried the Ohio property will be lost in the shuffle, and the frustration is a bit daunting.

So, I need to accomplish something positive today and it will be something as simple as the laundry, which I will begin shortly, and making the bed.

Some days . . .

Thanks, DRs fjl and Ginny! I'm really in a rut and it means getting over it; I've got a busy month of May with three events with Rob Berman, the Faith Prince-Anthny Warlow work, mixing ROBERTA and writing the liner notes, but this bathroom situation seems endless. I feel my life is on hold trying to keep the time open to get the work done. It's really getting under my skin and causing too much inertia.

God knows what my brothers have done with the Ohio property and if it's financially tied into the family business. I understand there's a new realtor now involved. Their 2/3 share makes all decisions and I get very little info abut what's going on. The Macbeths have kept me out of the loop since 2008. My fear is that it's going to be lost in the company mess, and that I'll have to sue my brothers for what I thought would be my retirement share. My other fear is that, if the property is safe, it won't sell until long after I'm dead.

I want to go back to bed.

Gray skies are gonna clear up,
 Put on a happy face!
Brush off the clouds and cheer up,
 Put on a happy face!
Take off the gloomy mask of tragedy,
 It's not your style;
You'll look so good that you'll be glad
 You decided to smile!
 Pick out a pleasant outlook,
 Stick out that noble chin!
Wipe off that "full of doubt" look,
 Slap on a happy grin!
And spread sunshine all over the place,
Just put on a happy face!

In consonance with that thought, why not do a "Say It With Music" show....a sort of tribute to the aborted MGM musical about Berlin.  Perhaps there is someone at MGM who could dig out some list of tunes they were planning for the film.

Well, I accomplished my sleep study last night. It was supposed to be in the sleep lab, where you are monitored and they get scads of data. But my insurance company wouldn't go for that, so I did a "home" study. They supply the gadgetry, which you take home. It provides very limited data. It takes them a while to interpret the data, so I have a follow up in a few weeks to find out the results. If the data warrant it, the insurance company then has to approve the (more expensive) in-lab test. OR they may tell me to just lose some needed weight, and the problem may resolve itself. Which I should do anyway.      :)

Woke up at seven but stayed in bed - still, five hours of sleep is not quite enough.  Got up at eight and did a two-mile jog.  And totally forgot about the work session this morning in thirty minutes - so non-stop until dinner.

I supervised the copying of orchestra parts for the cut numbersf rom the full score, orchestrated "Wanting To Be Wanted" for Jo Loesser to sing, and spoke one line of dialogue. I honestly cannot remember which role I played. Ticket seller? Bus driver?

Speaking of whom....

Capitol Records is issuing a 50th anniversary "Funny Girl"....with remastered LP and CD and a 48-page booklet.  It's on Amazon.com for $108.00.

I keep thinking it might be worth it if there was something "more" related to "Funny Girl".  But aside from remastered CD and LP (on virgin vinyl), the 48-page book seems to be the only new thing.  I think it's packaged in a reproduction of the LP gatefold.  But...$108?

I'd have a problem paying more than $50 for such an item.

I would be far more willing to do a sleep study at home than in a lab.

I just love this conversation:

(While walking through the stream)

Me: "Sometimes I wish I could dig up some of these plants and take them home to put in my pond."
Wae-Ling Goldstein: "Why don't you?"
Me: "Well, I guess it would depend on how much ice cream it would take to keep you quiet."

(long pause)

Wae-Ling: "I don't think I've ever seen you do anything bad."
Me: "I try hard not to."
Wae-Ling: "Well, don't start now!"

I have found the Bernese Mountain Dog community to be filled with kind people who fight to improve the breed.  Many of those people live in the Portland area and are the ones who spearheaded the fight to stop the dog auction.

The school announced they will not have the auction.  I think the more they learned about issues with the breed, and the size of the breed, made them think twice-or maybe the breeder is scared he/she will be found out and renounced the offer of a dog.  Either way, I am pleasantly surprised.

In consonance with that thought, why not do a "Say It With Music" show....a sort of tribute to the aborted MGM musical about Berlin.  Perhaps there is someone at MGM who could dig out some list of tunes they were planning for the film.

If memory serves I believe some of these songs are on the 2cd version of BK's Unsung Irving Berlin

For no particular reason a'tall, here's Percy Helton from a 1968 episode of "Get Smart" called "Spy, Spy, Birdie":

I enjoyed the sleep study at the hospital/clinic. Such a luxurious room they put me in!

I didn't like the price tag, however.

Did it come with a private bathroom?  Were you allowed to read in bed?

Bathroom was in the hall. You had to be unplugged before you could leave the bed. Can't recall if reading was allowed in bed. Mainly they wanted you to fall asleep. I did watch some tv, however.

Every time I see Percy Helton, all I can think of is that scene in CRASHOUT where he gets his head bashed in with a big rock by one of the escaped prisoners who doesn't want to leave any witnesses behind. It was not graphic, but gruesome all the same.

How do you get fired on your first day as Winnie-the-Pooh?

By putting on your costume's pants backward.

I guess you can say that it's wee Winnie's winkie, or Winnie's wee winkie, or . . . .

I apologize, I thought I was posting on the Babs pic, sorry. ;)

So no drinking water before bedtime.  It is rare that I can fall asleep without reading.  Just my luck I would go on a night I was exhausted and sleep, kind of like taking the car to the mechanic and the strange loud noise stops as you pull in.

I was lucky that for the most part the weather stayed nice.  I was put on a priority list at the dealership and they took care of the problems as quickly as possible, even washing & waxing my car to make up for forcing me to return to do the work.  When I originally scheduled the work they foolishly let the time run into lunch and I had to bring it home or wait another couple of hours.

I also used Keith's free birthday scoop coupon at Baskin Robbins.

I left home at 9:00 and returned close to 1:30.

Back from a really exhausting rehearsal, doing double duty as director and musical stager.  But I think I came up with quite a fun Put 'Em Back today.  We didn't quite finish all the scenes on the books for today - still have another three pages of one scene, then that should be all of act one save for the ballet and all of act two save for the finale.
