It's summer vacation, what about songs about travel?
Some days . . .
Good morning, all! I am really down at the moment and would have preferred staying in bed. The mess in the apartment is really getting to me, I could not get it together to go to Toyland this morning, I've had no word back from my doctor, my father's company is going under, I'm worried the Ohio property will be lost in the shuffle, and the frustration is a bit daunting.
So, I need to accomplish something positive today and it will be something as simple as the laundry, which I will begin shortly, and making the bed.
Some days . . .

Regarding travel - jumping off John G's idea -
Has a travelogue about states and cities around the world, maybe in the universe, been done? (I Love Paris, Party in the USA, Foggy Day in London Town, The Rain in Spain, If It's Tuesday it Must Be Belgium, Mexican Hayride, and the like)
Vibes for Elmore.

Well 2014 is the 60th anniversary of two Irving Berlin grab bag musicals: WHITE CHRISTMAS and THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS and both of them have a lot of funny songs.....
Well, I accomplished my sleep study last night. It was supposed to be in the sleep lab, where you are monitored and they get scads of data. But my insurance company wouldn't go for that, so I did a "home" study. They supply the gadgetry, which you take home. It provides very limited data. It takes them a while to interpret the data, so I have a follow up in a few weeks to find out the results. If the data warrant it, the insurance company then has to approve the (more expensive) in-lab test. OR they may tell me to just lose some needed weight, and the problem may resolve itself. Which I should do anyway. :)
Speaking of Larry.... I've been on a The Most Happy Fella kick lately. I was doing some research and it lists Larry Moore as a singer on the 3-disk JAY recording. Larry, are you actually singing on that recording, and did you do any arranging for that recording. Inquiring minds would like to know.
And a happy birthday to Babs, while we're at it.

Speaking of whom....
Capitol Records is issuing a 50th anniversary "Funny Girl"....with remastered LP and CD and a 48-page booklet. It's on Amazon.com for $108.00.
I keep thinking it might be worth it if there was something "more" related to "Funny Girl". But aside from remastered CD and LP (on virgin vinyl), the 48-page book seems to be the only new thing. I think it's packaged in a reproduction of the LP gatefold. But...$108?
I'd have a problem paying more than $50 for such an item.
Oh, well (to paraphrase Jrand63)....

How many shrouds does one person need?
...this is just the "Shades of White" wardrobe.
Then I read this and think, at least I'm not an idiot!

~~~Vibes of All Kinds for Larry!!~~~
And the word of the day is: FISSIPAROUS!
I enjoyed the sleep study at the hospital/clinic. Such a luxurious room they put me in!
I didn't like the price tag, however.
In consonance with that thought, why not do a "Say It With Music" show....a sort of tribute to the aborted MGM musical about Berlin. Perhaps there is someone at MGM who could dig out some list of tunes they were planning for the film.
Did it come with a private bathroom? Were you allowed to read in bed?
How do you get fired on your first day as Winnie-the-Pooh?
By putting on your costume's pants backward.
Bathroom was in the hall. You had to be unplugged before you could leave the bed. Can't recall if reading was allowed in bed. Mainly they wanted you to fall asleep. I did watch some tv, however.
I'm also waiting for the Funny Girl Broadway Cast package to come down in price. The price is still outrageous!
And now for something completely different...There Is a Half-Waffle, Half-Donut Creation Called the Wonut and It Looks Ridiculously Delicious (http://www.eonline.com/news/535481/there-is-a-half-waffle-half-donut-creation-called-the-wonut-and-it-looks-ridiculously-delicious)!
I would be afraid to try it, I might like it. There are too many foods in this world I try to avoid-don't need another one. :)
Ginny did you enjoy the series?
Tonight is invited-preview for Young Frankenstein. Didn't think I'd love doing this, but it's a helluva lot of fun!!!!
Well, I'm off. Tonight is the final dress/pay-what-you-can preview for "Chamber Music"! I'm sure that it'll be good, but there's no telling how many people will show up. Oh, well...it'll be what it'll be.
Until later!
Has anyone here read the new Leo Tolstoy biography by Warren Peese?
Sounds like something to look forward to after I finish this last class -- if'n I finish.
Did I mention how impressed and pleased (but unsurprised) I was by the lovely review of your work?
