Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both night and day, and now it is time for you to post until the night and day cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EFFLORESCE!
-
TCB, I can't at this time. We'll see how it all plays out.
-
TCB, I can't at this time. We'll see how it all plays out.
Okay, you know best.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to FJL!! :D
-
And I was first after BK!
-
And I was first after BK!
You were! I posted my post only 11 seconds after you. :)
-
That BK, always there first!
-
That BK, always there first!
We wouldn't want it any other way!
-
Perhaps I should abed?
-
I do hope my voice gets stronger.
-
Page one? Really?
-
A song from the Broadway production of Rocky was just on David Letterman. I like Andy Karl and I enjoyed the song.
-
And now, I must go to bed. I haven't been getting enough sleep lately and need to get more sleep...so sleep, I shall.
Good night, all.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Happy Day to Fred!!!
-
A Very Happy Birthday to FJL!! :D
Thanks so much, George!
The day will be a relatively normal tax work day (so I'll be E&T), which makes me happy having not had such regular, steady tax work for a few previous birthdays.
-
Happy Day to Fred!!!
Thanks for the wishes, Ben!
-
BK - thanks for the lovelier than lovely mention in the notes!
-
Catching up on some posts I missed from last night - more joy on what feels like very good news for Dan M!
-
singdaw, so glad they're allowing you to get the sleep apnea treatment!
-
Friday morning greetings! Another day at home for me until Richard and I go downtown to check on the inventory reduction sale at the book sale site, wander through the art center, grab some dinner, and attend a play.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR FJL!
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR FJL!
Thank you so much, Ginny!
-
DR Singdaw, yes, it probably will take a while for you to get used to the mask. Richard was skeptical at first, but eventually realized that he's waking more rested.
-
Good morning, all.
A decent but slightly-cut-short sleep (note to self: nap later), with a typically weird dream that I can't quite bring back into focus.
Coffee!
-
A very Happy Birthday to DR FJL!
-
Continued VIBES to BK, and to all who needs 'em on this here Friday.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR FJL!!!

A very Happy Birthday to DR FJL!
Many thanks, Chas - and dream-explanation vibes to you!

And more of these for everyone:

Happiest of birthdays to DR FJL!!!
Thank you so much, Kerry!

I wonder why my Firefox appearance is different this morning. No Firefox "start tab", only a little menu thingy at the far right. The tabs look a little different as well.
Did I (or a cat, who was arguing for use of the keyboard whilst I was trying to navigate on it last night) do something? Did Firefox change it? Did anyone else's get changed?
-
I even looked to see if I'd opened the wrong browser. (I stopped using Chrome, for the most part, but it's still right here.)
-
Firefox has upgraded to Version 29. It still works the same way but the visuals are different. It most likely updated in the background and now that you've turned it on for the first time since the update you're getting the new screen.
-
Thank you, Ben!
-
Happy Birthday FJL!
-
TOD:
No idea what I will watch this weekend.

Happy Birthday to DR FJL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DR FJL - wishing you a most joyous celebration today, and a bounty of health and happiness in the year ahead!

Thanks, all, for your supportive comments.
I didn't sleep any longer than usual last night (only about 6.5 hours), but the mask presented no problems whatsoever - didn't interfere with my sleep at all, and after only about 5 minutes felt completely comfortable and manageable.
AND - I did feel much more rested when I woke up this morning. So overall I am feeling very positive. :)
-
~ ~ ~ CONTINUED THROAT RECOVERY VIBES ~ ~ ~ for bk!!!
-
TOD:
Man, it's been a dry spell. Hardly time for anything these past couple of weeks.
Sat down in front of the TV last night, which really felt good, to watch an (ahem) educational capture of HAIRSPRAY with the original cast.
Musically, my main focus over the next few days will be IRMA LA DOUCE, getting familiar enough with it to appreciate what I'll be hearing and seeing at Encores! on Wednesday, which is coming up alarmingly fast.
Movie- and TV-wise, who knows!? Still have to ketchup on my couple of TV programs. And so it goes.
-
~ ~ ~ CONTINUED ULTRA-STRENGTH VIBES OF POSITIVITY, PRODUCTIVITY, AND FLOURISHING ~ ~ ~ for bk and the company of Li'l Abner!!!

The scone turned out much, MUCH larger than anyone had expected...

Happy Birthday, FJL!!
-
Happy birthday, FJL!
-
Good morning, all! I slept late since I got so little sleep yesterday, and I am bathed, dressed and ready to head to the IRMA LA SOUCE sitzprobe at noon.
I have little else to report beyond an addendum to yesterday's comments about today's world: I find it sad that the GOP, which was once an intelligent political voice, has become so riddled with fools, lunatics, people of limited forward thinking, creationists and cretins, Bible-thumping misogynists, homophobes, xenophobes, and all-round inhumanitarians. This garden has too many weeds running it. Today's GOP is not that of Abraham Lincoln or Barry Goldwater. End of rant.
So, I've got some tidying up, and then I'll head out. I'm happy things are moving positively for BK. As for me, keep those vibes coming. I need to win the lottery to keep my family afloat now that my dad's company is folding, and to keep myself financially afloat, and me and my team recording and working.
DRs singding and DanM, I'm happy you're getting good health maintenance. My apologies t those I've missed! I wish you all the best.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good weekend vibes to all! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Happy Birthday to our DR FJL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am bathed, dressed and ready to head to the IRMA LA SOUCE sitzprobe at noon.
ooh la la!
But seriously, folks... :) Here's to a fascinating and enjoyable sitzprobe, DR Elmore.
The new Filichia on Friday has not been posted.
I forget what the title Irma La Douce means.....
Happiest of birthdays to DR FJL....and many happy returns of the day! More I cannot say without increasing the bank account of the Hill sisters.
-
Good health news from DR DAN M and from DR SINGDAW yesterday!
Here is my partner Sharon and I all dressed up for the opening number Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy....which is a real song.
That fan is hilarious, DR JRand!
-
What's next, DR Jrand63? A G/D rehearsal under a Big Ass Fan?
-
TOD:
Have HOT IN CLEVELAND and SURVIVOR on the DVR waiting to be watched
CD: A compilation cd straight from Japan of actor Akira Takarada (was in a lot of Godzilla movies) and songs he sang back in the 1950s/60s.
-
That fan is hilarious, DR JRand!
We thought so. DR CHAS SMITH I have G/D rehearsal tonight, but what with the low, temps, there will be NO fan.
-
The new FIREFOX seems a bit slower.....but it might be me.
-
TOD:
CD - Guys & Dolls, DR ELMORE's recording....most excellent
DVD - Damned - a Rene Clement movie about Nazis escaping France in a submarine who have to kidnap a French doctor when the mistress of one of the kingpins becomes ill.....
-
That fan is hilarious, DR JRand!
It's a Texas brand, to be sure.
-
That fan is hilarious, DR JRand!
It's a Texas brand, to be sure.
We knew what a Big D was. Now we know what a Big A is.
-
DR Singdaw, congratulations on becoming one of us in the apnea club. To get used to your mask, I would suggest you wear it for short naps in the early days. See if you can wear it for 20 or 30 minutes.
-
re Firefox:
I don't like the unnecessarily altered look of the tabs. Only the active one LOOKS like a tab. (Edit: Until you mouse over them.) How utterly silly, and what a perfect example of somebody changing something just for the sake of .... changing something. Someone's drawing a nice salary for that.
-
That fan is hilarious, DR JRand!
It's a Texas brand, to be sure.
For sure, if you look closely, you can see the Big A.
-
I miss the Orange FF icon that let me click there to work on my browser settings. I guess now it's the three bars at the right of the address bar.
Re: Firefox, the changes happened because Chrome is a VERY popular browser and they want to make Firefox look and behave more like Chrome. Both Firefox and Internet Explorer are losing users, Firefox not as fast as IE but Firefox is no longer at the top of the heap for Browser use. Some of the changes have been in the works for quite a while but I also think some of them have been introduced now as a way to take people's minds away from the Brendan Eich/Prop 8 Mozilla Foundation debacle
Jack, yes, the 3 bars at the top right of the browser is the new Control Panel for settings, although if you have a Top Row of commands (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help) on the upper left corner of Firefox many of the commands are there as well as in the Control Panel.
Hap-Hap Slap-Happy Delicious Birthday Wishes To DR FJL . Have A Great Day !
I have a few of those DR BEN....bookmarks and a couple of others. I prefer FIREFOX to GOOGLE CHROME....although I use Chrome when I am posting to the theatre blog because all of the passwords are saved there.
Haven't used IE on purpose for MANY years.
-
EXCITE is an okay browser as is Comodo Dragon.....
-
Thanks DR SINGDAW.....we did okay last night.....we are middle of the pack for sure. I hope to take some in costume pics on Saturday night.
-
DR Cilla thanks for the dogs skyping clip. I will have to show it to Keith.
-
DR Singdaw I find the results of your home study interesting. Keith insists I don't stop breathing yet I can repeatedly wake up within in minutes of falling asleep. I think Keith just doesn't want to sleep next to anyone wearing the darn CRAP machine ;)
That R was not a typo.
-
Bruce I loved reading about your rehearsal last night. Whatever happens you are giving the students a good leason in life and work ethics.
CONTINUED VIBES ALL WILL WORK OUT!!!!
-
Just had an e-mail from Abner who got up with a cough and cold, so he's not coming today - the day I had eight hours to finally do detail work I don't have the person who is in just about every scene in the show. Bad. But we'll go on and he'll just have to come in an hour or two early on Monday to get any blocking changes, of which there will probably be many, although without him personally playing the role (someone will walk his track) I tend not to be able to see as clearly in terms of staging - I need my actors, to see what they're doing with the scenes, then it becomes clear. Oh, well, we'll get everything else as good as we can, I guess.
DR Singdaw, congratulations on becoming one of us in the apnea club. To get used to your mask, I would suggest you wear it for short naps in the early days. See if you can wear it for 20 or 30 minutes.
and if you find that the mask you are using does not work for you, be sure to try out other types. I went from a mask to nasal pillows and found it worked much better for me. There are lots of choices for you.
Glad you are getting this taken care of DR Singdaw! Sleep apnea plays such havoc with your health, and we like a happy, healty Singdaw!
-
DR Jane, I wish you would get checked. Maybe DR Keith doesn't realize how serious sleep apnea is. If he did he would likey have you getting the test immediately.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to rehearsal, and hopefully I can do what I need to do without my leading man.
-
Boy, that sucks about Abner's absence today. Of course you'll work around it, but there's no two ways about it: it sucks.
-
Greetings, all,
And Happy Birthday to DR FJL!
BK, I am so very glad to hear that things are improving at Abner (other than the missing Abner today). Here's hoping that the bump in the road evens out swiftly, and becomes a faded memory.
TOD: Not much going on there. Stuck in the vampire musical thingie until Monday night. It bites. :D
-
"hopefully I can do what I need to do without my leading man."
That is the title of the 5th chapter of my autobiography.
One night Fillmore Crank (who later married Beverly Garland) was driving through the valley with Miss Allison Hayes. They noticed that her name was on many of the Drive-In marquees. He remarked that she certainly worked a lot....to which she replied: "I work cheap."
I thought of that when I saw the three Merry Anders' posters from DR MBARNUM.
I would like to see prehistoric nymphs bathe in the pools of paradise..all new AND in color!
I see the new Filichia on Friday.
Thank you. I do now.
Great movie posters, as always. The one thing I wonder while scrolling through them is: Where in the HELL are all of these movies? Maybe they're more readily available than I know, but I'm not recognizing a single one of these titles, and they all look great.
Police Dog Story is my favorite title of the lot.
Catching up on some posts I missed from last night - more joy on what feels like very good news for Dan M!
Thanks DR FJL!
And, a very, very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!
Wow, Wendell Corey! He would have been 100 this past March 20. A solid B-movie and TV actor in WOMEN OF THE PREHISTORIC PLANET! It seems that his role in REAR WINDOW was the height of his career.
Well DR DAN M I guess there is something to be said about having savage planet women and female space invaders fighting over you....even in a movie....even if you were once directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
Maya Angelou and Louis Farrakhan were calypso stars back then.
Yes, even had I been a background actor, and were lucky enough to be in a Hitchcock picture, that would've been some kind of milestone!
Sure. Although if you wear glasses, the mask made it a bit more difficult for me. But with the nasal pillows, no problem. In fact, I often forget I even have the nasal pillows on/attached to me.
The screen's FIRST great Calypso musical.....were there many?
DR JRand, I think Columbia Pictures wanted to make it loud and clear that their calypso movie was better than Allied Artist's calypso movie! :D
(http://images.moviepostershop.com/calypso-joe-movie-poster-1957-1020482728.jpg)
However, since my dear friend Laurie Mitchell and her dear friend Angie Dickeson were the stars (although you couldn't tell that by the movie poster) of Calypso Joe...you know which of the two movies is really the "Greatest!"
I used to work with law firms in NYC. If you feel that the Bronx is not the proper venue, you should make a motion to have the court changed to Manhattan. Not that I'm telling you anything you probably already know, you have to recognize which public you are having the hearing before and how sympathetic they will be to your side. A Manhattan jury is vastly different from a Bronx jury, as are the judges.
-
In fact, DR FJL, if neither party is domiciled in the Bronx, I would seriously oppose that as the venue.
-
From my experience, the Bronx courts were second only to those in Brooklyn as far as political cronyism and corruption is concerned. At least in Manhattan, there are far more white shoe law firms that keep that circuit a little more respectable.
-
Hello, everyone.
CONTINUED VIBES FOR A SATISFACTORY RESOLUTION to BK!
I'm also watching MISS FISHER season 1 for the third time. What a delight it is! Definitely a chick-flick, but such a wonderful production. Lighthearted, period drama, with the most stunning costumes. To die for, IMHO. Available on Netflix streaming.
Wow. Who'da thunk it...THE SCREENING ROOM: Celebrating the 30th Broadway Anniversary of Sunday in the Park With George (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/190724-THE-SCREENING-ROOM-Celebrating-the-30th-Broadway-Anniversary-of-Sunday-in-the-Park-With-George-Video)!
The Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical Sunday in the Park with George celebrated its Broadway opening May 2, 1984, at the Booth Theatre. Bernadette Peters and Mandy Patinkin starred.
Playbill.com is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the musical with a collection of performances from the Broadway production and more.
Oh, that old show? I'm still proud of my involvement!
And I am home from a wonderful IRMA LA DOUCE sitzprobe. I do not know who's playing Irma, but she is adorable, Rob McClure is so wonderful, as are Malcolm Getz and all of the men. The orchestra and musical direction are impeccable and I think it's gonna be really good!
-
DR Vixmom as there has been a lot of flooding, not terribly bad, in Pennsylvania I asked a friend if he had any. He said some in his basement but he has a drain for the water. All he had to do was broom out the last of it.
You need a drain in your basement!!!!
-
I didn't forget.
DR Singdaw, congratulations on becoming one of us in the apnea club. To get used to your mask, I would suggest you wear it for short naps in the early days. See if you can wear it for 20 or 30 minutes.
and if you find that the mask you are using does not work for you, be sure to try out other types. I went from a mask to nasal pillows and found it worked much better for me. There are lots of choices for you.
Can you read in bed wearing either a mask or pillow?
I don't have one, but I would assume that you wouldn't wear it at all when you're awake. Isn't it only needed when you sleep?
I was thinking the same thing. Why you be wearing the mask if you are awake reading?
Sure. Although if you wear glasses, the mask made it a bit more difficult for me. But with the nasal pillows, no problem. In fact, I often forget I even have the nasal pillows on/attached to me.
Really!! I find it easier to read with my glasses off, but then I have to put the book up close to my face.
My mom does the same thing. She holds books right up to her face.
Because I read until I fall asleep. If I stopped to put the mask on I would be wide awake again. I woke up this morning with my Nook next to me in bed.
Once I had to wear progressive lenses I found it was easier to read without glasses than with them. Being so very nearsighted that part of my vision has improved with age. My arms would be more comfortable if I didn't have to put my reading material in my face.
Oh. I can't do that at all. Reading in my bed is somewhat uncomfortable, so I don't read to fall asleep. Watching TV in bed is not a problem, but then I can't sleep with that much noise, so I have to turn off the TV when I'm ready to sleep.
Here's a wonderful concert from the Brits. Julian Ovenden is one of the singers. Am about a half hour into it and Sierra Boguss (sp?) has just sung a wonderful Falling in Love with Love.
-
Dan M, interesting thoughts. Thanks!
-
One advantage of the Nook is it saves my page when I fall asleep reading. As long as it doesn't hit my nose or the floor I don't wake back up either.
-
Thank John. I'm listening while I work/play on the computer.
That's my friend John Wilson conducting his orchestra for the Proms. He's doing KISS ME KATE for the Proms this summer, and it will be televised. I recommended my friend Ben Davis for the Alfred Drake role.
-
DR Cilla thanks for the dogs skyping clip. I will have to show it to Keith.
You're welcome
I've been all over today. I went to visit a client at the women's prison which is 3 1/2 hours from here. It is, however, very close to where both my parents grew up. So I went to both little towns and had a wonderful afternoon, then drove back home. It was great.
The screen's FIRST great Calypso musical.....were there many?
One too many.
They can;t say we didn't reach page 8, can they?
This is where I had lunch. Yes, I had a pork tenderloin and Brad was very helpful with lots of questions I had from my mom. He even made phone calls to find a greenhouse that would deliver plants to my grandparents' graves for memorial day The downtown block they show at the beginning of the piece is the block where my grandpa had his general store http://www.iptv.org/simplepleasures/story.cfm?id=2858&type=story&video=video (http://www.iptv.org/simplepleasures/story.cfm?id=2858&type=story&video=video)
Trying to figure out how long ago they filmed that. Must have been 2009 when he first won the prize. Brad is older now. I do have to say he was a real joy to talk to. I bought t-shirts for mom and I because it said Prairie City on it. He also told me all about the people who are living in the house where my mom grew up. Mom had dared me to go knock on the door and see if they'd let me in. Brad said they would most likely invite me in if I did, so I did. Unfortunately they didn't answer the door.
Next week brings some changes. Starting Tuesday, I'll be working two days a week from home. Not having to face the rush traffic twice in the same week could be too much to handle. But if I try real hard, I could get used to it.
My usual days will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but next Thursday is when I have to defend my thesis, so I'll be home that day.
Very envious. We don't get a good pork tenderloin sandwich here in SA. When I was at the newspaper, I would get plenty of questions from readers about where to find that. Which Wich is the only place that has one.
-
It was great. I've been craving one lately. It was seriously bigger than a dinner plate. The Goldie fries are dipped in beer batter and they were also fabulous. Pork tenderloins are big in Iowa. They are hard to find in other places
-
The surprise of the concert for me is Seth MacFarlane. Much better than I thought he would be.
I really enjoy Seth in all of those concerts.
-
Cilla and elmore, two of my favorite people, are here!
-
And now Vixmom, too!
-
Not for long, my friend. I'm heading off to bed. Good night, all!
-
I'm pretty sleepy. I spent about 7 hours driving today
-
I knew it was too good to last.
-
Hi TCB!!!
-
Hi TCB!!!
Hi Cilla! You had quite a day
-
I'm sleepy but I don't have to get up early, so that's ok.
-
Pork tenderloins were big in Louisville at fairs and even more so in Southern Indiana.
-
Is a pork tenderloin sandwich anything like a McRib sandwich?
-
I also went here http://www.fws.gov/refuge/neal_smith/ (http://www.fws.gov/refuge/neal_smith/) A part of the refuge was one of my grandpa's farm. In the 80s the power company started buying up property to build a nuclear power plant. By then my mom had inherited the farm. She held out and didn't sell. A lot of people did, but others didn't too. I think it was more a valuation thing than a protest, but eventually they decided not to build the plant and the nature preserve was born. I can't remember if they bought the property from her or what happened, but it's part of the refuge. They are truly returning it to natural prairie. I didn't see the buffalo today but I saw the elk herd. DR LAURA - They have lots of different kinds of milkweed and have planted a number of other prairie plants to bring back butterflies that haven't been around in decades
-
Hi John! I thought you had gone to bed.
-
Is a pork tenderloin sandwich anything like a McRib sandwich?
No. It's pork tenderloin that is tenderized, then breaded and fried.
-
If you watch the clip you can see how they do it
-
And now, SloppyJoe is here!!
-
If you watch the clip you can see how they do it
I am on my laptop, so I will have to watch the clip tomorrow.
-
It's not real exciting, they mix up the liquid, take the tenderized meat, dip it in the egg/liquid mixture, dip it in the cracker crumb mixture and then drop it in the deep fryer.
-
I knew it was too good to be true! Over the course of the day, my face has developed a very tender, puffy, red rash along the lines of where the mask touches my face. I didn't think I had a latex allergy, but who knows?
The office issued me a cloth covering to go between the mask and my skin, so will try that tonight and hope that it solves the problem.
PAGE 8??
Here's Brad and his tenderloin
PAGE 8??
Don't start!
-
That tenderloin looks bigger than his head!
-
Here's Brad and his tenderloin
Well, I might like to go meet Brad and his tenderloin!
-
Back, from Hairspray #6 of 8.
And only here for a minute. I hear my bed calling.
Here's Brad and his tenderloin
Well, I might like to go meet Brad and his tenderloin!
I didn't mean that quite the way it sounds.
VIBES TO SINGDAW~~~~
-
Hey, my sandwich got us to page 9
-
Ok, I'm going to sign off. Think I'll head to bed and get some sleep. It's the first weekend in a long time I don't have commitments to anyone. There are things I may do, but nothing I HAVE to do...... YA HOO!
-
Hey, my sandwich got us to page 9
So that is a sandwich?
-
Good night, Cilla.
-
Back, from Hairspray #6 of 8.
And only here for a minute. I hear my bed calling.
The half-dozen or so songs in that score that really work are so much fun. "You Can't Stop the Beat" just sends people out on a high.
-
Good night, all.
-
Back from a long rehearsal day and seeing a very pretentious play, but having a good meal at Genghis Cohen.
-
The Kindle does that also. I LOVE that feature. :)
I would hope all eReaders do it. Does the Kindle also fall on your nose ;)
Fortunately, not. I have to keep it far enough away from my face to read it with my glasses on.
Tonight, "Chamber Music" had a great performance and a great audience. We sold 22 seats...our biggest house, so far! With tonight's show, we have made back the cost of the royalties! It's practically all profit from this point on! Hoo and Ray! :D
-
The surprise of the concert for me is Seth MacFarlane. Much better than I thought he would be.
Me, too...and I really enjoyed his solo album, Music Is Better Than Words (http://www.amazon.com/Music-Better-Than-Words-MacFarlane/dp/B004T5IW2K/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1399102393&sr=1-1&keywords=seth+macfarlane).
No. It's pork tenderloin that is tenderized, then breaded and fried.
Also known as schnitzel. My mom (who is from Germany) makes it all the time. :)
