A Very Happy Birthday to DR Sam!! :D
T.O.D.
Wasn't it THE GREAT RACE that had the big pie fight at the end?
I will have to think about others.
DR Jane asked yesterday about the venue for my cousin's wedding:
Troy Hayner Cultural Center (http://www.troyhayner.org)
Weather permitting, the ceremony will be in the courtyard and the reception indoors. They do have a rain plan, just in case.
Happiest of birthdays to DR Sam, who thinks I'm cute (or at least she thought so in 2007 when we were all in NYC together!)

Are you, or am I, confusing Sam with Samantha that you met in NY?
Vibes and {{{hugs}}} for DR Dan M!
That is terrible DR DAN M.....but I understand what you're saying. I am just at the right age and income level that ObamaCare did work for me.
But I know that I AM THE EXCEPTION.
DR Dan MAJOR VIBES for you!!!!! Does this also mean you will not have the surgery you were looking forward to? :(
Just informed that our Mayor Dawgmeat has a family emergency that somehow lasts all day and evening and won't be with us. I'm actually beginning to wonder if I will EVER have a run-through with the full company - we were only going to get three of them this week and now that is down to two and I'm not so happy about it.
I didin't realize it got that humid in Ohio, DR Ginny!
...
DR Dan, I am so sorry about your insurance situation. Are you in a state that did not expand the Medicaid part of the ACA? The expansion of medicaid was to cover people in your situation, although some states did not implement it, unfortunately.
And I only used a few words unbecoming to a Vicar's wife!
Oh, and we finally gave in and turned on the air conditioning. It's so humid the chairs around our kitchen table were sticking to the floor. And the paper in my printer was all wrinkly.

Our rainy, cloudy weather has suddenly turned to lovely, sunny, spring weather today. Tomorrow, it turns summer with highs in the mid 80s!
We can tend to get sort of humid here, as well. I don't like it one bit...but I know it is not nearly as bad as other parts of the country.
DR Dan, how very frustrating. It seems impossible that you wouldn't qualify.
When my nephew was on disability during and after suffereing from leukemia, he was eligible for health care through The Oregon Health Plan, which covered everything he needed. I am sorry that Arizona does not have something like that...or maybe it will turn out that they do. I Hope you get some good news regarding your situation.
From what I hear the Oregon Health Plan is very good, however, it doesn't mean DR Dan would qualify for it.

Sorry I've been E&T as I have been a bit depressed. I lost my health insurance. None of the usual pablum bandied about the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is accurate. It is anything but affordable. As I have said in the past, I have very little money left each month through SS Disability after paying for rent, utilities, food, etc. So, it would have been pay for the premium and go without food. It's the usual sad sack story, I know, but there am I. I have placed several calls this morning, but I fear that it will be the usual well-intentioned stuff, but as with most everything, you don't have the money, you don't get, unless you are absolutely, positively destitute. I am just enough over the poverty line to be denied time and again for any Medicaid-like services/coverage, but I barely make it through each month. The weekend was awful. I thought why go through everything I have, to be in remission, to get better, etc. and have everything just yanked out from under me due to money. I know for some that this is sacrilege, but I know from my personal experience that Obamacare is not the panacea that people think it is.
From what I hear the Oregon Health Plan is very good, however, it doesn't mean DR Dan would qualify for it.
Thank you DR Jane for your good wishes. I hope I'm able to get some help.
I am off to Birdland, but i would rather stay in.
DR Dan M, I had meant to send my sympathy earlier. It's bad enough to be fighting a disease, but I'm horrified and appalled at the condition of this country that you can't be given better care by it. If it's socialism, I'm all for it; I'd rather see my taxes help out people in your situation than pay for a mess in the Mid-East. While I know life is unfair, you deserve better.
Sorry I've been E&T as I have been a bit depressed. I lost my health insurance. . . .
~~~Vibes of All Kinds for Dan M!!~~~
Thank you all for all of the good vibes! I will give an update on my situation when I hear back from the many inquiries I have made today.
TOD:
I still enjoy many of the films of Abbott and Costello.
From the silent era, nobody beats Chaplin, Keaton and Lloyd.
Before that, I got to the gym for the first time in about 3 weeks. I managed to get 45 minutes of rowing and elliptical nonsense in. Felt good. Need to do it more.
I need to do it some.
I was just wondering about that, vixmom.
Actually made it to Braille tonight for the first time in ages, and with a small crew, we managed to make five lengthy books tonight. Just in time to take the summer off.
When I came home, I meant to write up an abstract of my paper, which is about the last thing I need to do. That and the table of contents.
But, a copy of the book with photos in it arrived via email and all I could do was leaf through it.
Some of the photos do not look as if they have been touched up at all. Some looked wonderful, like I could lick the screen for all that barbecue. It turned out to be 266 pages long and there's a large picture of the Das Barbecu CD cover in there somewhere amid the ribs and sausages and briskets -- oh, my!
And now, back to school work.
Hello, Gentle Dear Readers.
Just back from our road trip, so haven't caught up yet. I also wanted to let you all know that tomorrow morning I will be having some surgery. Nothing critical or dire, but necessary. And it is outpatient, so I should be home by mid afternoon. But I may not be up to logging on at that point, so I didn't want anyone to be alarmed at my absence between the trip and the medical stuff.
Hope to rejoin you all at the earliest opportunity!
If I had written that sentence it would have said:Before that, I got to the gym for the first time in about 51/2 years. I managed to get 5 minutes of rowing and elliptical nonsense in. Ambulance came and took me away .
I've spent several hours today rehanging the curtains in the upstairs bedrooms. I've had them from the dry cleaners for weeks, but just now got around to that task. As I was finishing the second window in the first room, I realized that they're backwards (design-wise), but at least they match. In the second room, I got them right and, by the time I was finishing the fourth and final window, I'd gotten the hang of it. Eventually I'll correct my mistake, but for now they're OK.
And I only used a few words unbecoming to a Vicar's wife!
No, I am just in the "make too much" on disability category, which is a joke because I can barely meet the bills, the rent and I suppose if I gave up eating altogether, I would be able to afford health care premiums. Besides, I've been on Medicaid and that doesn't cover the kinds of things I need in my treatment. I have Native friends who are in another government-run health system, Indian Health Service, and that's another sorry excuse. The government can't even run a decent postal service or DMV, so where's the surprise that I "make too much"? The only two options I have right now are keel over dead or go and live on the streets because those are the only two circumstances where I will have some form of coverage.
From what I hear the Oregon Health Plan is very good, however, it doesn't mean DR Dan would qualify for it.
OK, ignore the double chin and the wrinkly neck and take a look at the lovely necklace Richard gave me yesterday
The necklace is as lovely as the wearer.
Did anyone watch what I've heard was a totally disgusting remake of Rosemary's Baby?
