Good morning, all! What is it with morons?

When I purchased my new cell phone at Verizon, the young lady kept saying the charge did not go through, so she ran my card a couple of times on Tuesday morning, and sure enough, on Wednesday in "pendng activity, there were two charges from Verizon! So, I stopped at my bank,  and inquired about canceling one before it became a posted item. The bank clerk assured me only one would go through. so, this morning, there are two charges posted to my account from Verison and i am livid. I could have stopped this on Wednesday if the idiot bank personnel hadn't assured me all would be fine. Now I have to deal with the entire nonsense of getting a credit. Or fighting for a credit.

Color me really, really, really pissed.

I will stop at my bank and throw a Big Fit before I head down to Toyland this morning.

I believe I will be seeing Gerald Peregrne today. Gerald is a brilliant cellist who played on all of our Dublin recordings. His uncle was the late great Irish tenor Frank Patterson, with whom I worked on several St Patrick's Day shows at Radio City.

Wishing you all a good day and a fantastic weekend!

DR Elmore asks, "what is it with morons?"

I'll tell you.  I'll tell you what it is with morons.

They work tirelessly, endlessly, on overtime, 24 hours a day, To Serve Man.  Once started on a project, they cannot be stopped.  We're surrounded by them, but they're often in disguise.  They breed like insects, their goal being world domination.

That, in a nutshell, is what it is about morons.

speaking of morons, I had to have a front door key made for one of my team, who waited until this week to ask for one, even though he knew he was coming in to Manhattan for work for over a month, So, yesterday I made a special trip to a locksmith on the Upper West Side tpo have a key made. In case one was slightly off, I purchased two. Well, neither one works. This means, thanks to two of my colleagues adding aggravation to this busy three weeks, I have to find a locksmith down here, have the keys made and come back to Toyland tomorrow, just to make sure the goddam keys work.

On a positive side, I think and hope the Verizon credit is taken care of.

Over the years, of moving so often, I have found which key counters to avoid and those to use.  Any chance you can just have the person call you if the key doesn't work and then go down to open the door instead of making an extra trip?

This day continues to go to hell: I went out and had two more front door keys made from a locksmith on 21st that the doorman told me to use. They don't work either. So, I've now I've lost $23.00 on four useless keys, all because my jerk colleagues waited until the last minute to ask for a front door key. Sonofabitch!

So, now I've heard from my Irish friend, but my cell phone refuses to dial his number. This day is turning into a real piece of crap between the keys, calling a Dublin number, and getting a credit from Verizon. Goddam.

When we moved into this office, I had four front door keys made. I didn't give one to Chris becasuse he lives in North Carolina and I figured he would be here when others were. Now he needs an effin key.

This is strange.  I hate to ask the obvious, but these new keys are being made from one that works-right?  You should be able to get your money back for keys that don't work.  I've done it.

Re the morons,
We must not forget the "out to lunch" crowd. In my experience, these are usually young people--twenty-somethings--who could care less about doing a good job and, indeed, even in their more lucid moments have little idea of what doing a good job entails. They are doing the minimum to get by. If a customer complains in any way, their response is, "WHAT?? You want WHAT?" or some variation thereof. I encounter this quite a lot.

Did I mention the encounter I had recently? I was calling practitioners who offer the laser treatments, trying to get a handle on what the treatments would cost and decide who to go to for them. A search turned up a doctor right near me. I called and asked for prices. In return I received this, all of which was asked angrily:

"WHO IS THIS?"
"WHERE ARE YOU CALLING FROM?"
"WHERE DID YOU GET THIS NUMBER?"

It was actually rather comical. It was a group of doctors who specialize in pain management. When I was able to speak to someone else, I mentioned the bizarre behavior from the woman who answered the phone. Woman #2 immediately defended her, saying she's young and new to the job. I said she needs to be spoken to and that I had almost hung up. Needless to say, I'm not going there. I have other options, plus if they can't be civil when they answer the phone I certainly don't trust them with a laser!

I cannot fathom how ANYONE would think that this is appropriate business conduct.

Shocking, until I began to remember all the rude people in medical offices.  Fortunately they are not the norm, especially to this degree.

When we were still in L.A. and had moved to the Valley we found a new vet in the area which was a big mistake.  The night after taking our puppy home from having been spayed she developed cystitis.  I called the office and reached a very rude person who insisted I didn't know what I was talking about.  I nicely explained she had these symptoms before and I knew what I was talking about.  He refused to call the doctor.  The next day I spoke to the new vet who defended the behavior, even after treating her for cystitis, and was also rude.  We found another practice.

Is "WHAT? You want WHAT?" some sort of thing they're trained to say to make you try someone else?

We left a local dentist office because the receptionist was always rude, and she was close to 50.

I must say that have had really great care and great communication so far from my new medical office and the same day surgery center.  It's night and day from the last office.  They weren't rude, but they were just indifferent and didn't communicate.  It's just as bad

Saturday morning greetings!  Today is Perry (my cousin) and Pam's wedding day, so I will be E & T from about noon 'til late this evening.  Before we leave, though, Richard and I have to go out to Kathryn's to pick up a piece of consignment furniture that I bought yesterday.

Will you be wearing your new blue print dress or your new necklace?

DR Jeanne, it's too cold here to wear my new dress to an outdoor wedding, but my new necklace went very well with my burgundy knit jacketed dress.  It's one if my favorites and I was quite comfortable.

I am tired. Today was my niece's 5th birthday. She had her Frozen birthday party today. And then we went out for dinner. She was so happy.  I actually found the Anna tiara and necklace set I had been looking for. It was at Toys R Us last week. It was the only Anna set (all the others were for Elsa).  She wore them at her party and at dinner.

I am trying to decide what to read next. I have a library book from my sister's library that is a final book in a trilogy. I have a book waiting for me at my library by one of my favorite authors. I have two review books I want to read before they come out on May 27th. And I have a book at my library in verification (which I may be first for) that is the final book in a series I love.  If that book were to come out of verification tomorrow morning I would definitely choose that.

Monday is Victoria Day so the library is closed.

An old friend of mine recently discovered cruising (the kind you do on ships).  We have been talking on and off about finding one to take together, to avoid those nasty single supplements.  Last night he sent me an e-mail for a great cruise. A seven-day Alaska cruise, sailing round-trip from Seattle, with a cabin available for $369.00 per person.  The cruise was scheduled to leave two weeks from today.

Last night I was ready to jump on the cruise and most of the night was spent planning what I needed to do before I left.  Well, the bright light of dawn brought a little more reality to the situaition, so I told him I couldn't do it.

How much do you want to bet that that young lady had  just been chastised for taking a call  and failing to find out the prospective patients name, phone number and referral source.

I have  been very  lucky  the past few  doctor's visits -  I was very pleasantly surprised that  an  8 PM  appointment  was available,  allowing me to work a full day,  come home, eat, shower and get there feeling fresh and relaxed.

Once there I barely had time to give my  proof of insurance and ID  before I was shown to the examining room and the doctor was  at the door and ready to come in as soon as I ad changed into my gown.

My referrals all went through very quickly  and this afternoon when I went for the dreaded mammogram  and not dreaded  bone density I was shown to a women's waiting room where there were comfortable chairs and warm chocolate chip cookies and  instead of paper gowns we had spa like bathrobes.  The wait there was also short.

It was nice to have such speed of service and pleasant staff considering how unpleasant I find the test -- (which is how I managed to forget it for 7 years....)

I have done absolutely nothing today. Does making a cup of coffee count?

I have become a human Veg-O-Matic!

Tom, you've earned it...veg away! :D

A Very Happy Birthday to your niece, Jennifer!

Today, I went to see Hot Club Sandwich (http://www.hotclubsandwich.com) at Traditions Café (http://www.traditionsfairtrade.com/) and they were wonderful.  The place was filled and I saw and chatted with several friends.  That's always fun. :)

WARNING: PARENTAL BOASTING AHEAD

PROUD MAMA MOMENT;  The Vixter  was made  Employee of the Month - her name was engraved on a brass plate  and put up on a plaque in the lobby of the Roadhouse and she was given  a lovely engraved plaque and a hat -  no monetary tribute unfortunately - but we are all pleased as punch about it.

HERE ENDETH THE BRAGGING

Congrats to The Vixter...and the Proud Mama! :D
