I was too worried about getting caught in a vise
You're right...I'll start tomorrow!
Had a great time this weekend. Went to Tampa and Busch Gardens and rode most of roller coasters and saw a couple of shows.
We drove to Sarasota for dinner at an Amish restaurant. While our dinners were very good they were not spectacular.
Our next door neighbor is having her back porch rebuilt and today they're jackhammering the concrete. It's right outside my study window, about 25 feet from where I'm sitting right now. Richard and I have decided to go to a movie this afternoon - THE MONUMENTS MEN.
Here is one of my photos from Perry & Pam's wedding. The ceremony was led by the Lakota Iyeska on the right. Their hands are being bound by my cousin Dan, who is on his way back to Japan today.
What I Did Last Tuesday in Cincinnati:
Thanks, DR ChasSmith!
Even though I grew up in Detroit, I do not like Vernors. You may have all of mine!
Thanks, I'll take it! :) I know a lot of people who don't care for it. I think many who like a mild ginger ale prefer the "mixer" varieties like Canada Dry and Schweppes.

"Paternity" never has seemed like something I'd want to see, but I'm up for any David Shire work!

I prefer not to be reading a second book while my brain is still on the unfinished book.
A few years ago, I posted that the company I work for took away Internet access to all entertainment and social networking-type websites. (Those bastards!) Thus I've been very truant here. Since then, I've been trying to figure out a way to get around this obstacle. I finally started reading something about Time Warner Cable "hotspots". Then it took me several months to figure out if I could take advantage of this feature. I can! So, here I sit, about a block away from my office, outside under some trees, sitting on some type of utility grate, about a foot off the ground. The glare it terrible on my lap top! I definitely need some type of screen. Anyway, I'm here!
What I Did Last Tuesday in Cincinnati:
Finally remembered to go into a Kroger for some Vernors (no apostrophe) ginger ale, which for some reason they now call "ginger soda" (ugh). But I'd been craving it for, quite literally, the past couple of years, and OMG what a wonderful taste. Brought back a carton each of regular and diet, to compare, and both are excellent.
Vernors was kind of a special treat growing up in Columbus. We kept our share of soft drinks at the house, but for some reason my parents would only pick this up occasionally. My association with it back then involves sipping it on ice on exceptionally hot nights (in those days before air-conditioned houses). Oddly, my school years in Cleveland carried over that association. But I love the strong taste of ginger, and since you can generally only find Vernors in the Midwest, it remains a rare treat. But there's no excuse for that these days, what with online orders and such, and especially for someone like me who drives and visits those states with some regularity.
Apparently its greatest popularity is still in its home state of Michigan, with Ohio and Illinois a close second. I do remember being thrilled, when spending a couple of summers at the Meadowbrook summer musical festival (Rochester, MI) back in '68-'69, that it could be found everywhere, even in the soft drink dispenser in the school cafeteria.
Well, I should have brought back much more, because it's already disappearing. I'll do much better next time. I might even drive out of my way to find it in the plastic bottles which I far prefer to cans. (Of course I remember it in the original glass bottles, but I'll bet those aren't around.)
Tonight I will be staging - I can't call it choreography - "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat". So vibes are appreciated..... I have 18 people to move around the stage....fingers are crossed.

Back from a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, bathing the motor car (boy, did it need it) and picking up two dozen donuts for the costume and tech people - we've done that twice for the actors and I figured the tech folks deserve it, too. And happily I got the last chocolate peanut butter thing. The lady told me again, it's this one jerk from the post office who comes in first thing every morning (first thing being six in the morning) and buying all but a couple of those - she has asked this jerk repeatedly to phone in his order so they can accommodate him and still have some for those who'd like to get - but apparently the jerk can't be bothered to do that. I may just go over there one fine morning and confront the jerk.

So does the jerk buy different quantities every damned day? He must, or they surely could have adjusted for him by now. Hell, they should keep half a dozen in the back room till the jerk's taken the rest and gone.

BK, maybe one day YOU could get there very early and buy out all the donuts so that he doesn't have any. That'll show him (a Sondheim reference ;)).
Just got invited to a retirement party for a former boss who was hated by every single person who ever worked under her. Somehow, despite numerous verifiable reports to HR about her flagrantly reprehensible behavior, she lasted 34 years in the job. Now, we're expected to show up to honor her? Best laugh I've had today.

I know...talk about a missed opportunity.
;)
Had a great time this weekend. Went to Tampa and Busch Gardens and rode most of roller coasters and saw a couple of shows.
We drove to Sarasota for dinner at an Amish restaurant. While our dinners were very good they were not spectacular.
Monday morning greetings! Had a nice, somewhat relaxing, day with my sister yesterday. She arrived in time for us go over to The Jug for burgers & root beer for lunch. By the time Mary Linda arrived, the cousins and the bride were visiting with Mom, so eventually we joined them. Perry & Pam went back to her mother's, we took Dan to his airport hotel, and Mom probably crashed. And that's what I'm doing today...

Is Amish food supposed to be spectacular?
I believe it's appropriate at this juncture to ask for a little prayer in regard to Rosemary's Baby...

I first saw it when Prince William married Kate Middleton. Then, Fr. Richard bound Rob and Mary Linda's hands and the rabbi bound Christopher and Kyra's. It seem to be a custom that crosses cultural and spiritual lines.

When I wrote that, DR TCB, I was intending to crash today. Instead I went to a movie with Richard, did some grocery shopping, made pizza for dinner, and, just now, loaded 4 trash bags with old videotaped TV episodes from Rob's preteen and teen years. He says everything's available on streaming now and I could not find a cost-effective way to recycle the tapes. Landfill, here they come!
And the word of the day is: ADRET!

I prefer not to be reading a second book while my brain is still on the unfinished book.
I've usually avoided it, but I think I need a break from "Winter's Tale" anyway. And I'm at a very good point to stop for awhile.
It's been about thirty years, but I had an absolutely incredible Amish/Mennonite meal in Lancaster County, PA. What was the name of the place? I'll think of it in a few minutes. Anyway, you don't go there to lose weight.

The worst tech I ever had didn't have a sense of humor either when I laughingly asked if she enjoyed torturing people.

It's funny that you say that, George. When I was reading 11/22/63, I was really enjoying it. It seemed like the old Stephen King style. When I got to the end of the first half, or whatever it was, I decided that I needed to put it down for awhile. Sadly, I haven't had the urge to pick it up again.

the tech I had was a lovely young woman and she kept apologizing for hurting me and said she was sure the machine was invented by a man
I suggested that said man should be put in a similar machine for testing for testicular cancer and to leave him there until he found another, less painful, method for the scan.
She laughed at that

Funny Girl, Mrs. Doubtfire, All About Eve, The Bad Seed, Shadow of a Doubt
I wish that creepy Barbie photo was removed when "quoting" it to comment.
Besides, they're both on my Kindle and I have that with me all the time, so there's no special effort to "pick it up" again. :)
Wow I loved what Derek did for his free dance on Dancing With the Stars tonight. I often think that the free dance can win the season. But I am pretty unclear who is going to win.

Back from our final dress of Abner. As I sat there and watched our wonderful cast get themselves into real performance mode, and saw how the show looked in terms of sets and lighting and costumes, and hearing how much fun our new orchestrations are, I just thought, holy moley on rye it's taken twenty years for me to finally do my Abner and these folks are just so wonderful it simply gladdened my little heart large. Still one costume to get better, and a few band issues that were actually addressed as soon as we finished, but, like clockwork, the show ran exactly two hours. So, on to our one and only preview Tuesday night - if you haven't booked tickets what are you waiting for? You can PM me here or find our event page by typing in Li'l Abner in the search bar on Facebook - all details are there. Happy to say the wonderful Richard and Elizabeth Sherman are coming to opening night.
