Good morning, all! I am off to the Bronx and Riverdale this morning to begin the final mix of ROBERTA. After Judy and I finish up today, I am going to some event with her at the Academy of Arts and Letters, which is where we recorded the Victor Herbert Songs, featuring our DRsingdaw.

It's nice to hear that LI'L ABNER went well last night. I know it will be a huge success.

An hour of rest, then off to the dentist for my cleaning.  I do believe I have the rest of the day to myself, which is well needed.

There's a new live concert recording of the complete West Side Story score, with the San Francisco Symphony conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas. I have no idea if it's any good. The CD is pricey and not out until June 10 (http://www.amazon.com/Bernstein-Story-San-Francisco-Symphony/dp/B00J9PSDN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400673727&sr=8-1&keywords=west+side+story+michael+tilson+thomas), but if you don't mind a download, it is only $11.99 at iTunes, available now.

DR TCB - it features Cheyenne Jackson.      :)

For a full-out comedy like Li'l Abner, I imagine it must take quite a bit of adjustment on the part of the company to having the live audience - laughing.  Glad they seem to have made that transition with relative ease.

DWTS Finale:

Some things are joys forever.  The deserving dancer WON.  The runner-up was perfect.  Third place SHOULD have been James Maslow, who got his moment to shine when he and Peta were chosen -- in a DWTS first -- to repeat their dance from the night before.  It has always been one of the three finalists, but there was apparently a hue-and-cry from the audience and an overwhelming request that "they" repeat even though they were no longer in competition.

I don't intend to sound mean toward Candace Cameron Bure.  I think she's wonderful, even though she was not in the same league as Meryl Davis, James Maslow and Amy Purdy.  She and Mark were totally outclassed Monday night and last night.  All references to Monday's ejection of James being a huge shock was a not-so-subtle reference to Candace remaining in contention.  I'm sure she didn't miss that, but she did not let it upset her.  It's another instance of "fans" not being the best judges of who should move forward (as is true in "American Idol").

DR TCB I am sorry to tell you that I have to drop you from the G/D cast.  I have decided to just eliminate the character and the song from the show.  Don't tell M T I.

Also I misspoke yesterday....our roofers are NOT Amish....they are Mennonites, which explains all of the motorized equipment.

They should finish up today, although as DR GINNY noted, severe thunderstorms are possible in our area in the late afternoon.

I am also finishing up Rockin' the Boat and doing the FINAL scene and the FINALE tonight - then it's on the clean-up/fix up.  Of course I have three people out tonight!

Last night I went to the high school graduation of my young client from Guatemala who we have sort of adopted.  He was so excited. It was fun just to be there.   After graduation a group of us walked across the street from the arena to Perkins, he was so excited he never took off his cap and gown the whole evening.  Well, when he went to eat and the tassel started to get in his food, he did take the cap off.  It was so cool to see how proud he was.  It was a great night

You would expect a teaching hospital like UCLA to have newer equipment.  I guess until more studies are done that will be difficult.  I have my 6 month check on Friday and I will ask her about it.  Yes, I'm getting checked every 6 months now per my new young doctor.  We shall see if medicare actually covers it.  We will discuss an MRI also.

This question is asked out of ignorance and a prior bad experience, so please forgive:

Is it possible for a Windows user to buy one thing from iTunes and just downlload the bast it without having to install something and having iTunes trying to take over your computer from that moment until the end of time?

DR ChasSmith - some DR can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you have download iTunes in order to buy any iTunes tracks. I assume the West Side Story mp3 tracks will also eventually be available at Amazon, so that would be a way to listen to the streaming tracks without the use of iTunes.

DR Vixmom  -  sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  Glad you got meds, and wishing you a most speedy recovery.

Did Vixmom say she was diagnosed as a strepper?

I thought she was a schlepper!

If I knew what to do with a download, I might do it.

the Academy of Arts and Letters, which is where we recorded the Victor Herbert Songs, featuring our DRsingdaw.

That will always be a highlight memory for me, and I am ever grateful for that opportunity, DR elmore3003!

I was so happy that you agreed to do it! If you'd been around Manhattan in Feb., you might have ended up on ROBERTA as well.

Oh I doubt he would ever be on Roberta!

Well, Jrand, if that is the attitude you want to take, I am afraid I will have to resign from your production.  Please don't try to change my mind.  My lawyers will be in contact.

The L.A. Times has been a paid site for some time, DR MBarnum.  Do they still allow a handful of free articles every month?  I'll admit to being a freeloader and using the "anonymous" feature of Chrome or Firefox to read what I want to read.

Regardless, they sure did uglify the site recently.  I hate the look and feel of it now.

I was always able to look at the obituaries, both celebrity and regular people ones. Now if I click on an celebrity obit it makes me have to sign up. I can't even find the regular people obits any longer. I presume they are still there, someplace, but I'll be darned if I can locate them.

How many "regular" people do you know in Los Angeles?

Tonight I mowed the yard....again.  Sheesh I just did it on Friday.  Anyway, I'm glad.  It's a good work out and the yard is finally starting to come back.  It died a couple years ago with the drought.  The drought isn't really over yet, but I've finally recovered from my car accidents and am able to do all the work I need to do out there.   It's about time

Well, I'm reformatting one of my external hard drives.  I wanted to put all of my iTunes files on one of the drives because my C drive was almost full.  I was able to get most of the files on the external drive, but not the big movie files, because of the format (FAT32).  So, I'm reformatting to the NTFS format, which allows much larger file sizes. :)
Title: Re: THE PREVIEW
Post by: George on May 22, 2014, 12:11:14 AM
It's taken about 15 minutes to reformat 5% of the drive, which means that I'll have to leave my computer on all night.  Not a big deal.  It's quiet, so I just have to turn off the monitor.
