Act Two was OKAY....we're getting there.  Then suddenly SIX people tell me they can't come to rehearsal Friday because that's when there is a graduation ceremony.

WHERE WAS THIS DATE ON THEIR G/D AUDITION SHEETS?

I was planning a Dress Rehearsal that night, but what's the point?  All of the good work a few people are doing is being undermined and negated by some idiots - most of whom I would NEVER have put in the show if I had had ANYONE else.....useless.

The show will never be what it could be.....NEVER.

My niece woke up yesterday with the chickenpox (even though she's been vaccinated).  The doctor said it was pretty mild. So hopefully she will be able to go back to school by Tuesday (what the doc said). But not sure how many days after you get new pox does it start to scab over.

Good morning, all! I am listening to the final mix of ROBERTA Act One, and I'm pleased with it. We did discover a miking glitch that I will take full blame for, since it might not have happened if I hadn't been drugged out of my mind at the time on pain meds and muscle relaxers. So, there are two spots where I am a bit vexed over the sound mix.

And life goes on.

I've got some tidying up and laundry to do this weekend, along with trips to the pharmacy and the post office.  On Monday, I have a 12:30 rehearsal at Trinity Church. The casts' schedule for rehearsals next week is convoluted so we need to do what we can.

I'm currently reading several books about the subject of my next play in my THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS series.

Compared to the other plays, nine of which were one character monologues, this one will be an "epic".

It has 5 characters.

I got a peculiar notice from USPS.com of an attempted delvery, but the attachment was gobbledeegook, so I went to the post office to ensure that I had not been phished and turned over my computer's contents to thieves. I am sorry to report that the postal clerks make me look like a Silicon Valley genius.

I am now waiting on a call frm my Mac Man to help me with my angst. Why anyone wants to steal info concerning a lot of music files, notes they will never decipher on shows they will never care about, and porn is beyond me. As to my bank, was the $250 worth all of this effort?

I am back from the pharmacy, and I've spken to my Mac Man John. I think everything should be okay, but it was a lot of tsuris I didn't need this morning.  As soon as I get some more work and can afford it, I'll buy a new Mac.  I was going to do that last year and then the foundation went into fiscal misery.

So, I'll spend the remainder of the day puttering about here. I've got some DVDs to watch, some ROBERTA corrections to make in my recording booklet libretto, and that's about it for my day.

I'm curious, do you remember how old she was when she was vaccinated?  I know if a baby gets chickenpox they aren't necessarily protected when they are older, though it will be mild.  My sister had such a mild case when she caught it from me that she got it again from her children.  My poor sister, that was the only thing she ever had mild & then had to endure it as an adult.

Is there a test to determine whether you had chickenpox as a kid?  I was pretty sure I did, but my dad thought we didn't get it.  But he's unreliable on that kind of trivia (my mom would have known exactly who had what, and when), so I'm wondering if the medical establishment can answer that for me.

I saw a local production of The Color Purple last night.  I didn't fall asleep, which is always good.  However, I didn't love it.  I just don't think I like the musical.  The production was fine, I think I may have missed a lot of words because the playback was a little hot.  Also, what happens when you cast a show that is ethic-specific, you end up getting people who can do the job (who's experience is a church choir or karaoke, but sing really well) but lack diction, etc.  I think I just don't like the musical itself.  I need to watch the movie, which I don't think I've seen.

Yes, it is called a Vacinne titer test.  You can do it for any vaccination.  When a vaccination came out for German Measles I had my father give it to me so I would be safe when I became pregnant.  After Bryan was born I made a new friend, along with her baby, who's doctor did a titer on her and found out she wasn't protected.  I had my father test me and, to his great surprise, I needed to be re-vaccinated.

Before Bryan began medical school he had to titer for all of his vaccinations.  I was impressed.

Keith kindly spoke to the service department when they called about my car this morning.  He was talking so long I finally left the room fearing it was bad news.

After the call Keith said I lucked out :)  The fix is about the same as the diagnostic test, plus they recommended a few other things.  Not bad considering my car is 9 years old though it has less than 65,000 miles on it.

DR Matthew, skip the movie and read the book. It's brilliant and heartbreaking.  Michael Korie, who wrote GRAY GARDENS, turned me onto the book about 1981, and it's absolutely wonderful.

Another vote for the book. My experience with the show is limited to cast recording, which I'm not fond of. It seemed as if every time they were starting to develop a song, they stopped and moved on to something else. I heard that for the recent London production, they addressed some of that in a rewrite, but I don't know if it worked.

I was planning a Dress Rehearsal that night, but what's the point?  All of the good work a few people are doing is being undermined and negated by some idiots - most of whom I would NEVER have put in the show if I had had ANYONE else.....useless.

The show will never be what it could be.....NEVER.

I put down all of my conflicts, and you still canned me!

TOD:

I'm currently reading several books about the subject of my next play in my THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS series.

Compared to the other plays, nine of which were one character monologues, this one will be an "epic".

It has 5 characters.

The Marx Brothers?

Saturday morning greetings!  Richard and I have been out for a neighborhood walk and I'm about to take some odds 'n' ends over to the AAUW garage sale venue.  The sale is in 3 weeks and it's a great opportunity to get rid of stuff we no longer need.

I have an entire storage shed I could bring for your sale.

Continued ROBERTA vibes for DR elmore!

DR Jane I am not sure what age the vaccine is given in Canada now. But I do know that there is only one shot here and two are given in the US.

Interesting.  Is this your younger or older niece?  I hope the other one doesn't catch it.
Older. Well if the vaccine is not going to work on the younger one then it is better she gets it now.

Had a nice long visit with some of DH's relatives visiting from Richmond, VA.

We went to the opening day of a new exhibit at the History Center: TOYS from the 50s, 60s, & 70s.  It was great fun, and I saw quite a few familiar favorites.  There were many samples out on the floor to interact with, as well, plus videos of original vintage television commercials.

I can't understand why anyone would want to see ALLEGRO.  I realize it is Rodgers and Hammerstein, but just because something is made by Tiffany's, doesn't make it a gem.

Jane, good news on your car!

I'll be buying a used car. I don't drive enough to need a new model and even late-model used cars are astonishingly costly. I have no enthusiasm for it.

I hate car shopping and do not envy your having to look for a used one.  We don't normally get extended warranty's, however, if I were buying a used car from a dealer I would also buy a warranty.

I am actually reading a hardcover, "The Agent: My 40-Year Career Making Deals and Changing the Game".  That also means I need something to read on my Nook at night.

After the lights go out I will begin "The Innocence of Father Brown" by  G.K. Chesterton who was a contemporary of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  I believe it is short mysteries of the adventures of Father Brown.  My brother is watching the series on his PBS station.  Since we often get shows later, if we get them, than most PBS stations I figured I would read the first book of stories.  How many I will read I don't know.

I don't normally read biographies but I knew, and liked, Leigh in high school so there are aspects of this I find interesting.  If I followed football this would be a very enjoyable read.

I don't normally read short stories, however, as you know I like Sherlock Holmes so figured Father Brown is worth a shot.

Then I had a huge hassle in trying to figure out how to take advantage of the guarantee on the tree they planted last fall that died over the winter.  Each one of the employees told me something different.  I thought I lost the receipt, but they planted it, so I figured they'd have the records. One of the people I talked to kept telling me I had to bring in the tree.  I laughed and told her there was no way I was going to dig up the tree. Another told me I had to talk to the guy in the landscaping dept.  So I waited for him to finish what he was working on and he said "No, I'm not the one you talk to"
Finally, I talked to the right person, who apologized to me for the runaround.  They put a sold sign on a replacement tree, but she told me the wait is 8 weeks on the planting list.  If I can find someone to help me pick up and plant the tree I can do it right away if I want to.   I'm not in a hurry, but may ask if any friends can help me out

I didn't buy new plants at the greenhouse, they are the most expensive in town.  I went to another store with a garden center and bought 3 peony bushes and a bunch of geraniums. I planted all of them this evening.   I have so much to do with my landscaping, that I'm doing one little project at a time.  I've planted almost all the flowers in pots so I can move them around.  I'll likely do something more permanent next year  I am hoping that the deer don't eat the peony bushes.   They seem to eat everything else

If NASA needs to raise money, they can start advertising or get cosponsorships. It can be the Verizion International Space Station. They can can put billboards on the moon advertising Moon Pies, chocolate Bars on Mars and Preparation H on Uranus.

Last year, I discovered that when I'm at the baseball game here, I am totally relaxed.  I really don't care who wins, although I definitely cheer for the X's (Explorer's) I go because I love being outside on a nice evening (they are all evening games) chatting with friends who sit right behind me, having an ice cold beer and enjoying all the fun.  My parents are totally baffled because I haven't been a sports fan since I was in college.  I think it's good to baffle people once in a while

Then you tell them to move!

Yes, but it's a great story  They were cubs together and found in drug dealers apartment or house, they were taken to a refuge and raised together.  They are fast friends now

That's what Roy thought!

Gypsy was quite good. The acting was very good, and they had the full orchestration in the pit. The orchestra was really superb.

Color me impressed.

And yet you called it amateur.

The laser treatments are helping with the pain. I've only had three treatments, but I already have less pain. I'm very pleased and encouraged by that!

A full orchestra? Wasn't this a community production? Maybe I misunderstood.

One of our community theaters always has an orchestra of between 12 and 17 members.

No, I believe they are all union musicians.

Cilla, I hadn't realized that you were still recovering from the car accident. You seemed so bulletproof! I hope you can do all you wish to do now.

Truth be told, I was sore off and on for a really long time.  The treatment from the accident last fall fixed issues I still had from the accident 2 years ago.  I did a lot of toughing it out.  The good news is, I no longer have to tough it out, I'm really better.

BTW, I LOVE peonies! I've always wanted a peony bush. Maybe one day.

ME too!! I've never had a peony bush and when I saw them today I thought why not.  This is really the first time I've planted flowers for myself.  Not sure why I've waited, but I did.  I'm picking my favorites, peonies, snap dragons, marigolds, petunias.   I may still do a big pot of impatiens.  not sure if I spelled that right.  I have an area that really needs to be done, but it's where my hollyhocks are, so I'm going to wait until they come up to be sure I don't accidentally kill them

Thanks!  I'm having a blast getting back to work on the house.  It's surprising to me that I'm having such a good time working in the yard.

When the review came out online for LITTLE WOMEN, they used rehearsal photos with it.  That included a photo of me in my full suit, but still wearing tennis shoes, because they hadn't found period dress shoes for me.  They should have cropped the photo, but oh well.  In fact, someone wrote in about my shoes being wrong in a period show.

Tonight I was watching the nine minute video piece that comes with the new WESTSiDE STORY.  The two female leads are wearing long gowns.  Cheyenne is dressed in black slacks, a black dress shirt, a black tie, and yes - tennis shoes!

Today, I was woken up by my doorbell.  I RUSHED downstairs (grabbing my robe to cover myself before opening the door ;)) and it turned out to be a couple of guys offering free carpet cleaning.  I don't remember if they said for my entire house or not, but there's a NO SOLICITING sign posted at the entrance of the condo complex!  They shouldn't have been doing that.

I texted our property manager to let her know, but she doesn't live on-site anymore, so there really wasn't anything that she could've done.  I just wanted to make sure that she at least knew that this happened.

I went back up to my bedroom and watched a little TV before eventually getting back out of bed to feed my cat.  I then took a shower, got dressed and went to work for a few hours.

After work, I went to Red Robin for dinner.  I have a gift card AND I got my free birthday burger, so it didn't cost anything.  Just as I was finishing up, my friend Margo called, asking where I was.  It turns out that her daughter (who was not home) had accidentally locked her key in their house and they couldn't get in.

I have their house key because I feed her cats a lot, and since the Red Robin is only about a mile from her house, I was able to go over there pretty quickly.  After I let them in, we chatted for a while and then I came home.
