Well, you've read the notes, the notes were smooth and rehearsed, and now it is time for you to post until the smooth and rehearsed cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  STOMP is the only show that I actually saw off-Broadway in NYC.  It was fantastic.

Is Greenwich Village considered "off-Broadway"?  That's where it was playing.

As for shows that were off-Broadway, but I saw a local or regional production of:  I LOVED both "Angry Housewives" (I was involved with but did not act in a local production), and "Das Barbecü," which I saw in Seattle, directed by the original off-Broadway choreographer, Stephen Terrell, who coincidentally played Peter Pan in a local production of "Peter Pan," where I played Jukes, one of the pirates!

Good morning, all! My morning is free until 10:30, when I'll leave for Wall Street.  Jhn Bell, the pianist for THE MERRY WIDOW, and I will work with the cast until Rob arrives from his auditions around 2:30.  It will be a long day.  I'm not complaining; after Thursday, I'm unemployed.

Something strange is going on at Toyland, although I'm not sure what, and I will know very little before the weekend when I can go down and check out the situation.  I think that this weekend, too, I will begin the move of my possessions out of Toyland, since I believe it's going to close shop before August. I hope I'm wrong, but the omens look poor.

The tenth book in the John Rawlins 18th century mysteries was the nadir of what was, until then, a pretty good run of murder mysteries, great bus and train reading. However, with No. 109, I've ended it. the book was not dreadful, just really bad.

I discovered this mystery, which I'm really enjoying. This is not the cover of my copy, so there's no "first novel" info on the cover.  When I purchased it, I had no idea it was the first book in a series, so we'll see how I like the ones to follow:

My sister just called. My dad apparently got taken in by a scam today from people pretending that they had my nephew captive in Mexico. Instead of calling my sister to find out, he went and withdrew a large sum of money, which he proceeded to send. The people at the CVS tried to talk him out of it, my mother tried to talk him out of it, but he was convinced it was the truth. Nobody is really quite sure how much he sent.

We're all worried that this may be a sign of dementia.

My folks have no Internet or anything like that in their house, so they're not exposed to these types of schemes.

And I am home from the long rehearsal at Trinity Church.  This one's a difficult one, but if it swings together tomorrow, as I expect, it will be very good on Thursday. Tomorrow we begin at 10 and finish around 1:30, since Rob has auditions and Alex Gemignani (Paul's son) has a matinee of VIOLET.  We've got three of the ROBERTA Collegians in this one: Michael, Tim, and Adam.

As soon as I got in, I turned on the AC, and when it's cold enough to hang meat, I will turn it off.

I forgot two off-Broadway shows I like: I'M GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER and THE LAST SWEET DAYS OF ISAAC, both by Cryer and Ford. I'd question SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, only because I consider the Playwrights Horizons version, which I saw, a workshop, and the second act only made an appearance at the end of the brief run.  That said, it was really brilliant, and I still preferred the one act I saw in that workshop to the finished production.

There have been so many broadcasts about these swindles and to watch out for them!  I'm so sorry, DR John G, but I think it's time to keep an eye on your father's behavior.  How is he coping with being swindled?

My sister just called. My dad apparently got taken in by a scam today from people pretending that they had my nephew captive in Mexico. Instead of calling my sister to find out, he went and withdrew a large sum of money, which he proceeded to send. The people at the CVS tried to talk him out of it, my mother tried to talk him out of it, but he was convinced it was the truth. Nobody is really quite sure how much he sent.

We're all worried that this may be a sign of dementia.

My folks have no Internet or anything like that in their house, so they're not exposed to these types of schemes.

Oh, no!  >:(

Where really is your brother?  Could he have been called to confirm that he's not being held captive?

That is terrible. hopefully everything will be okay.  Too bad that your mom did not call your sister.  Couldn't the people at CVS have just refused to do it?

My niece went back to school today after her chicken pox.  I have my fingers crossed that she will have her energy back on Saturday for her swimming finals.  I told her to just do her best. And if she still hasn't gotten her energy back to 100% everybody will understand if she doesn't swim her best time. It's too bad. But i guess it could have been worse and been last Saturday when she wouldn't have been able to go at all.

Dad is quite embarrassed by what has happened. He was just at the doctor, who said everything was OK, but you never know.

I've told my boss. I think he'd let me work from Louisville for a few weeks if I needed to go up there. (Another reason to give thanks for this job.)

Sorry to hear about that, DR John G.  That kind of scam is scary, and the whole thing is depressing.

Oddly, I had a strong sense of deja vu reading your post.  I guess these scams have been talked about enough that it's bound to sound familiar.  I must have read a detailed case history of one of them.  What's so alarming is the extent to which the scammers have studied their prey enough to feel very sure of what they can get away with.  So, to succeed like that without being checked on and having it fall through -- well, like I said, that's scary.

Just got the news that Sandy needs to push our recording date by a month, which is actually infuriating since two musicians turned down other work to take our July dates.  We'll see how it all shakes out, but it looks like the new date will either be the third of fourth week of August, which means the CD can't come out before November, really.

I forgot that I saw Little Shop Of Horrors Off-Broadway. (I saw for a second time on tour in Denver when I lived there).

I remember that when I saw it Off-Broadway I "sold out" the house. I bought the last seat for that evening's performance.

This morning while I was sitting at my desk, there was a little "incident" involving a small spider.

A very small spider.

Even so, probably best to just leave it at that...

1. My deepest sympathy and empathy
2. There  si no such thing as a "small " spider
3. If you are still living in the same house and there was no body else  in the house to deal with the intruder you are a far better man than I, Gunga Din!

My mom seems to be the one who stopped it and she did so after getting a hold of my brother-in-law, who convinced my dad that my sister had indeed taken her son to school today, so he didn't have time to get to Mexico.

I didn't call. My sister said Dad was too embarrassed. So, I'll call tomorrow.

What a weird day it's been.  I spent way too much time on that damn e-mail letter and it's put me into a bit of a funk - if I continue to feel like that I may just decide to let sleeping dogs lie because no apology is worth me feeling negativity.  On the other hand, the apologies (yes, multiple) would make me feel some sort of vindication.  I suppose I'll know more when I run this by a proper lawyer tomorrow.

Other than that, it's been quiet.  I didn't write any questions, but I'll begin doing some more now.  I did start writing the liner notes.  And I heard from my big online dealer about how many he's taking of our two new titles and it really irritated me and I've told him that if that continues I'm simply going to make every Kritzerland title available exclusively on the Kritzerland site, because I don't really think I'd sell any less if people have to buy it from us.

But then they waste about 10 minutes with Nick Cannon dressed up as a mime, with prosthetic pieces on his face to change his features, pretending to be angry after the judges give him four Xs.  What was the point of any of that?
