Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Kritzerland at Sterling's 46, and now it is time for you to post until the 46 cows come home.

Good morning, all! I am under the weather this morning, so I postponed therapy to tomorrow; I must get to my 1:00 appointment with the back specialist no matter what.

Hopefully, before I leave, my super will have shown up and finished the ceiling.

Maybe I'll flap my arms and fly to the moon.

I got a very good night's sleep, got up around ten-fifteen, and have had one telephonic call after another, all long, and I finally went and got something to eat - a turkey sandwich and onion rings.  Now I'm back home and will relax for an hour or so, then dive into the liner notes with gusto.

This is the start of my fourth week of working for the assistant director of my agency.  Am hoping this is "it", as they say.  Have had my fair share (and then some) of work-related dreams since moving up to the 10th floor from my 6th floor cubicle.

The temp hired two weeks ago to cover my desk quit today.  It was too stressful for her, apparently.

Topic of the Day (again):
How about Hal Prince -- Part II? Michael Sterling mentioned that there were soooo many shows you couldn't include in the last one because there's simply too many. You could replace 'Possibilities' from
'It's a Bird, It's a Plane...' with 'Ooh, Do You Love You?', another song sung by a single person while someone else just stands there and gets offended. It's a very funny song, if done right.

I'm just going to say: Page two?  Really?  I should think that better change to page five very soon or there's no telling what will happen, and I mean that in the nicest way.  But it's six-thirty in the evening East Coast time and it's not a holiday that I know of.

Thanks, George, for the details on your car purchase. That is indeed a very good deal. I will pursue it. The program includes both new and certified used cars, but many certified cars are beyond my price range. If the savings are that good I may be able to buy a certified car. They're easier to find, too.

Ginny, I can sooooo relate to your shredding and tossing! I did so much of it prior to leaving the East Coast--and I still have too much. I had a lot of business files, handouts from various professional seminars, that held a lot more nostalgia than I would have expected. I was involved with artificial intelligence at one point and, for some reason, just had real attachment to those files. In any case, I find it a time-consuming task to sort through it all, and I burn out on it rather quickly. I hope it's easier for you.

From Bruce:
Quote
Gee, I hope Jane comes here and posts her pastry photographs, too - would be a crying shame to only share them on Facebook where they are not seen by nearly as many as here.  Also, one of her friends posted about the pastry and from whence it came: Do they make gluten-free?  What is this with gluten-free?  Just another irritating fad that will be forgotten in six months to a year.  I do understand that for some it is a real thing, but the other 90% who've jumped on that bandwagon are doing it just because it's a fad.  You mark my words when the gluten-free business is gone a year from now.  The best part is when these faddists say "Oh, I feel so much better eating gluten-free."  Sure you do.  Until the next craze.  Like people who used to do Atkins - "I feel so much better doing Atkins."  Sure you do.  I'm here to tell you as someone who was stupid enough to try Atkins, I felt soooo much worse.

You forgot we can't post photos here from Keith's phone.  FB handles a larger size and won't accept them.  You should have transferred it.

Funny is the person who asked apparently removed her question and all that is left is your rant about gluten ;D

Annoying is the person who got upset I ate such unhealthy crap and would not shut up about it.  I've seen other posts on FB get hijacked but this is a first for me.  I didn't dare mention the incredible cannoli I had for dessert that night :)

I have a new pain product. I've been taking it for a few weeks now and am impressed. It's Life Extension's 5-Lox Inhibitor with Apres-flex. A mouthful of a name. It's actually the herb Boswellia, which has been used for centuries for arthritis. But Boswellia isn't absorbed well by the blood. Life Extension formulated this product for better absorption. ONE of these works better than TWO of what I was taking, plus it can be taken either with food or on an empty stomach. Much more convenient. Should not be taken at the same time as other pain meds, although I did so in error and had no ill effects.

Available at many health food stores or online. Life Extension has health advisors available who can provide details at no cost.

Popping in late today to wish everyone a fine Monday. I needed a bit of a day off today.

I had lots of rehearsals and corporate shows this weekend, topped by the wonderful Kritzerland show last night. Thank you, BK, for making me a part of this night honoring Dorothy Fields. So many songs were favorites of mine, most especially "The Way You Look Tonight'.  And now, I think I've taken a page from your book on making "Never Gonna Dance" another one of my faves.

I hope everyone is having a sweet day.   :D

I'm just going to say: Page two?  Really?  I should think that better change to page five very soon or there's no telling what will happen, and I mean that in the nicest way.  But it's six-thirty in the evening East Coast time and it's not a holiday that I know of.

Six-thirty?  You scared the heck out of me.  i thought I had lost three hours of my day.

Larry, you might want to ask your doctor about K-laser treatments. They're quite painless and very effective.

Here's a video about them:

Unfortunately, from what I understand about TCB's issues he may not be able to benefit as much.

DR Jane - so glad that your anniversary celebration was spectacular!

Thank you.  It was a quick, fun trip.  Just mentioning it was our 45th got us some nice perks :)  We normally shop in Portland but not this time.  We did make a quick stop on the way up at the Tommy Bahama discount store to pick up a blouse on hold for me.  We checked into the hotel with just enough time to freshen up and go down for their wine house.  I always enjoy the wine hour at all the Kimpton Hotels.  The wine is usually good and the guests are in the lobby with their dogs.

This morning I received a call from the car salesman, asking if I'd made a decision on the BMW. I told him I wouldn't be buying it. He then said, "If I see another A3 [the Audi I was interested in] should I call you?" Yes. I couldn't resist. I then added, "It's such a shame about the Audi. It would have been the purrrrrfect car for me." I doubt that this salesman has anything to do with whatever bait-and-switch may (or may not) be going on, but I had to get a little dig in. If the car isn't available they ought to take it off their website.

Artificial Intelligence?  Doesn't that apply to MBarnum?

Duh! It's like a digital Show Music division of a record store. My friend Andy Propst, who's behind this, wrote:
On some levels, it feels to me like it might serve the purpose of letting a new
generation digitally experience the sort of thrill that many of us had when
we'd go into a record store and simply be able to flip through bins to see
what looks 'interesting.'

A shame you had to miss last night's show.

You're not saying you did "Ooh, Do You Love You?" in last night's show, are you?

Topic of the day:

How about a Kritzerland show based on the music of Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil?

Okay, that's all the composers I can think of. This was difficult, not having a list of all previous shows in front of me. But it was surprising how many references to old Kritzerland shows I could find on the Net, so that helped. I'm sure Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer has been done, but that was the one show I couldn't find any references to.

Was that Elisa since you mentioned her by name?  If so she is from the Portland area and was asking a sincere question.  She was also on the way to her mother's unveiling.   She might have been asking for her daughter who has a serious rare genetic disease.  She really isn't humor-free, just having a rough time.

From Bruce:

I almost wrote something about that.  I really do not like when people do that on other people's pages.  Write whatever you want on YOUR OWN PAGE. But don't post stuff like that on other people's pages.

DR Jennifer do you have a bell on your bike?  Our bike path is also for walkers, though the bikers seem to think it belongs to them.  I find it helpful when they ring, even better than calling out, as they approach.

No, maybe I should get one. The path at the lake is also for walkers. But this was just a bike path on the side of the street. If it had been a child walking on the sidewalk I would have put my hands around my brakes. But I did not think that an adult would jump in front of me without looking.

Today has been a day.  I've not had time to log in to HHW at all.  Just as I got to work, I had to go into a hiring committee meeting to replace one of the selectors who retired last week.  Last week, we had to read through and evaluate 22 different applications and decide who were the best of the bunch.  We narrowed it down to eight, who will get first-round Skype interviews.

After those, which (hopefully) will happen either June 11th or the 18th, then we'll cull them down to however many will have live interviews.  The applicants will have to get themselves to Tumwater for the live interviews.  After that, hopefully we'll have a new selector of adult fiction, audio/visuals, and foreign language fiction.

TOD - Words, Words, Words

Maltby & Shire's crossword puzzle song
Rodger's & Hart's I Could Write a Book
The Book Report from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown

Etc...

There's a song called "Words, Words, Words" in both Candide (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Candide-1989-Studio-Cast/2006/) and The Witches of Eastwick (http://castalbums.org/recordings/The-Witches-Of-Eastwick-2000-Original-London-Cast/3823) (different songs, of course).

And I am home from Dr Vong's office. I go back on July 2. He had no answers, just continue the physical therapy and tell my dermatologist next week about several issues he has.

I need a job.

Topic of the Day:
How about a "One-Hit Wonders" show, spotlighting composers who only struck Broadway gold a single time?

What about individual great songs from otherwise crappy shows or scores?

;)

The City of Seattle has approved a minimum wage raise to $15.00 an hour.  I think that is too much, too soon.

I'd read that it'll become the highest minimum wage in the country.  But it will eventually go up to $15/hour over several years, not all at once.

A new Web site with show music available for purchase/download

BwayTunes.Com (http://www.bwaytunes.com/)

I just look quickly at the splash page.

But what is this difference from buying here than from ITunes, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, CDBaby, Krtizerland or any of the other websites that have music of this kind?

I was thinking the exact same thing.  It's all theater-related material and all on one website.  I like that idea.

Topic of the Day #1:  How about songs from the musicals that won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama?

Topic of the Day #2:  How about an evening of Meltz and Ernest (http://www.haineshisway.com/2002/04/THE-MELTZ-AND-ERNEST-STORY/)?

:D

Yes , George, for large businesses over a period of three years.  But our state minimum wage is already two dollars more than the Federal level.  Why not raise the minimum by $2.00 more?  Why raise it by $5.00?r. That means a starting wage of $2,400.00 a month!

I wish I. Understood more about internet service providers.  I am currently paying almost $180.00 a month for a bundled plan with Centurylink.  That is just crazy.
