Well, you've read the notes, the notes were brought to you by Pepsodent, and now it is time for you to post until the Pepsodent cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PERDURE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
bk, thanks for uploading the entire Richard M. Sherman evening! I certainly hope to make time to watch the entire thing. :)
-
Very sorry about the loss of your friend, DR TCB. Condolences to you and to the family.
-
Today is apparently National Donut Day. Who knew?

I can't help but wondering: does tooth powder really turn your hair white? I guess it would.
I can think of other things that would turn your hair white. :)

Stop brushing your hair with toothpowder, DR singdaw!

Good morning, all! I dreamed about Ireland last night; apparently it isn't far from the Hudson River, where I was dealing with the logistics of the spot where a ship actually landed. Then i was in the Irish countryside: green everywhere, and a river. Who can explain it?
I will shortly head for physical therapy. I need to lok at my bank balance and that's my day.
DR TCB, I am so sorry to hear of your friend's death.
SR JohnG, I gather it's the commencement that takes you to Catskill; I hope you are having a good time.
DR JRand63, great news about last night's performance and the rush on the box office.

And the word of the day is: PERDURE!

is that a donut with fruit loops on it?
-
no time this weekend to watch films as i am working
-
Good morning, all.
National Donut Day? Is it really? Yay!!!
Coffee!
-
Sorry to hear about your friend, TCB. It sounds like you have good memories of the man.
-
I only have time for one cup, then I must be off to my close personal friend the VW dealership to hopefully get a couple of little issues attended to at hopefully not too much expense.
-
Looking forward to watching the Richard Sherman video. It will have to be later, at home, as neither cell nor Wi-Fi reception up there (across from the cows) is great.
-
Condolences to TCB.
-
Considering the last two days have felt like they should be Friday, it is nice that Friday is finally here! Let's make it a good one!
-
Friday morning greetings! I've been awake since about 5 this morning, up since 6. Just couldn't sleep, so I finished reading Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed. I've been listening to it on my basement walks, but checked out a library copy of the book for the map. Now I can start listening to The Book Thief on my walk this morning.
-
TOD:
Assuming they arrive....
VERONICA MARS from Netflix
PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK from Criterion
-
Condolences to DR TCB...
-
Congratulations to DR JRand, the G/D company, and the Putnam County Playhouse!
-
Sorry about your friend DR TCB.

-
Good news for DR JRand.
-
Good news DR Singdaw.
-
And congrats to DR JohnG. Speaking of swimming I am looking forward to the summer outdoor pool opening next weekend.
-
I am really hoping that my library gets the Veronica Mars movie.

Congrats to Jrand on the opening success
-
More congrats to John G, and hope you're having a great time.
-
Oy! I got to the bus stop, realized I was going to be sick, and came home. I just canceled therapy, and i am not leaving the apartment.
Damnation!
-
Feeling better vibes for DR ELMORE.
Thanks, everyone. Yes we all had a good time and I am looking forward to Performance Two.
DR TCB for some reason, I thought you were there....I was watching on the monitor so maybe you just willed yourself there. I am sorry to hear about your friend....but that song certainly does speak to everyone.....
-
I am going to YOU TUBE to see more of An Evening with Richard Sherman!
-
What DEE-lightful videos.
Thanks so much to MR BK for uploading them!
-
DR Elmore, I'm sorry you're not feeling well - take care!
-
DR Elmore, please take care of yourself today and rest!
-
DR JRand, am so happy that G/D was a big success! Just seeing the costumes in the photos you have been posting made me smile...I can only imagine how much fun it would be to see the show in person!
-
And TCB, very sorry to hear about your actor buddy. Nice that you have such good memories!
-
I still buy Pepsodent toothpaste, every now and then. Not the powder, however.
-
That Quilted Northern toilet paper ad with the lady hanging her washed toilet paper out to dry really disturbs me. Oy!
Given the fact, too, that she sounds overdubbed, it's even creepier.
-
TOD:
Now that I have my TV picture looking so swell, I have returned to watching the remainder of episodes of JULIA. Will likely watch more this weekend.
That last two episodes had an actress by the name of Diana Sands playing Julia's cousin who comes to LA to work in pictures. I have probably seen Diana Sands in things before (she has a ton of tv credits), but this is the first time I really 'noticed' her. What a wonderful actress!
Sadly, she died of cancer just two years after appearing on JULIA. Way too young.
-
LOL, DR Elmore! I have not seen that commercial...but then I tend to fast forward through them all...unless something catches my eye.
-
I have a ton of things to do this weekend, but all I really want to do is relax in front of the television and vegatate.
-
One of those things is to continue selling things on Ebay and Craigslist. I am determined to get my savings back to where they were before I bought the new tv and new tv stand. Since I am now credit cardless, I don't feel secure unless I have enough in savings for a rainy day...which we have a lot of here in the Pacific Wonderland.
-
So, is nobody rushing out to buy the dvd of DEATHBED: THE BED THAT EATS? I don't understand it.
-
Well, I have tried to get us to page 3, but will now leave that to the experts.
-
...unless something catches my eye.
One can only imagine what that might be. ;)
-
Sorry that you a feeling under the weather, DR elmore3003.

It's bad enough that I'm suddenly under the weather, but I'm dealing with Man from Philadelphia madness as well. I deserve sainthood.
-
DR elmore3003 - that just ain't right.
And yes, you do. :)
-
DR elmore3003 - that just ain't right.
And yes, you do. :)
Thank you, DR singdaw! I know I'm not walking around as a sane person, but it's always nice to find that on a scale of 10 for insanity, I'm probably not higher than a 2 or 3. On a scale of 10, the Man from Philadelphia on some days is around 25-50.
-
Selling and savings vibes for DR MBARNUM.
-
Car diagnostics got done, but they need to order a part so the work can't be done till next week. Security system problems were due to the driver's door latch needing replacement. $400, people. Four hundred smackers. Also, the gas door (I think that's what they call it, the flap that opens up to the gas filler upper) wasn't always opening when I pulled the switch inside the car, and a solenoid will be replaced. And the hand brake cable needs an adjustment. Oy!
-
I can't say I'm feeling insecure, but last week on Facebook Sally Mayes posted a photo of her Comden & Green album and raved about Patrick Brady's arrangements, and today John Boswell praised Alex Rybeck's arrangement of "My Heart Is So Full Of You" for Liz Callaway. Neither jerk mentions the fact that without my orchestrations, those albums would be voice and piano. What's even more infuriating is that neither Liz nor Alex ever mentions the fact that slowing the song down to an adagio was my idea after hearing their original version.
And on that note, i'll go back to the unemployment line.
-
Sorry to hear about your friend, TCB. It sounds like you have good memories of the man.
Ditto.

DR Jrand & DR Singdaw, it was nice to read your good news from yesterday :)
-
Sorry to hear about that kind of crap, DR Elmore.
-
Listened to first part-and-a-half of the Richard Sherman video, which is delightful. Will have to finish later, but I bookmarked it and sent the YouTube link to a couple of friends.
-
I have been accumulating packages to take to the post office since April. Had I realized how long it would be before the last item was ready I would have made more than one trip.
Oh well, they shall all be mailed today.
-
Sorry to hear about that kind of crap, DR Elmore.
It only irritates me because, if some of these folk I worked with dropped my name as well, it might lead to other work. I am sick of being unemployed.
-
DR Jane, I absolutely DID think of you while reading Cheryl Strayed's book. She had quite a time in Ashland! Do you hike the Pacific Crest Trail often? I also thought a lot about the stories I've heard about Mt. Hood, Timberline Lodge, and the Columbia River from my parents. I've been to all those places, but only have vague recollections from the visit we made there when I was 9. I remember nothing from our life there the first 2 and a half years of my life.
-
And then David Burnham, for whom I scored a Chtitmas carol around five years ago, posts on Boswell's comment about "My Heart IsSo Full Of You," Love you and Liz...and Alex's arrangement is stellar!
Jeez, give me an effen break

Thanks for the vibes DR George! They made me laugh.

DR ELMORE the Mercury retrograde starts today.....so communication concerning work may be delayed, but it is on the way.
And also remember, doing a good job in theatre is like urinating on yourself when you are wearing black pants.
It gives you a warm feeling, but nobody notices.
-
And on that philosophical note.....I am off the NIGHT TWO of G/D...please continue the vibes and good thoughts.

I was up at ten-thirty, but the phone just kept ringing and I kept having conversations, then had to run to my lunch meeting, which was fun. Back now.

elmore, I'm kind of in the same boat, although at least Sally gave me credit. The others you mention rarely do and I don't know that any of them would quite be where there are if I hadn't kickstarted that aspect of their lives. It's fine. Your contribution to all those CDs, as well as mine, were huge, and that includes, on my part, having much input on the arrangements, especially on the first album - Alex did each and every one, yes, and they are brilliant - but there are several where I gave input and those suggestions were implemented and the great Joey, Joey, Joey track would never have existed had I not kept refusing every inferior version they sent. I remember getting their take on Where Have All the Flowers Gone - a song I've never loved - and thinking it was very ordinary with no real point of view. When I had a discussion with them about it, they told me why they were doing it, and I suggested strongly that it have a musical point and a build, that it actually say something about what they were going for in an interior fashion. Armed with that, Alex changed it and it was fantastic. I had a similar thing with Meadowlark, about the opening, where I asked Alex to create a "Once upon a time" orchestral intro - again, this he did brilliantly. But elmore did the work and those albums are as special because of him as they are because of the superb Liz and Alex duo - and if you listen to the SOUND of them, then my input is very much felt in that aspect, as well as getting the best out of everyone, which is really my job. I constantly went in and asked for tiny adjustments during the actual sessions for the first album.
The bottom line is, those albums were high art and were a team effort.
-
I also would not be surprised if our usual troll went and informed those folks of your comments.
-
I base this on the fact it's been done before.
-
Had a really nice chat with an attorney and am now ready to send my letter to various LACC folks, maybe even this afternoon.

It's very even-keeled and professional now. My first versions were anything but. This is much better and it will either get me the apologies I'm looking for or, if not, then we'll decide if we're going to escalate it.

I usually don't go up to the PCT until July when the snow is all gone. This year my hiking group might go up earlier. It is on the trail that both Echo & Sherlock have their resting place.

I have begun to unfriend anyone who posts articles that are overt lies (stupidity does run rampant and it takes all of four seconds to verify the lie via google) or, more importantly, ANYONE who posts a photo of violence of any sort. The most recent one that's making the rounds is of two Indian teen girls who were gang raped and hung from a tree. An outrage? Of course. Worth linking to an article? If that's what makes you feel people will become more aware of what's happening elsewhere in the world, although this is not peculiar to India - I do believe we have had serial killers here who have done that and much worse - but my point is how DARE anyone post a photo of it on a public site that kids read. And one idiot woman actually was arguing that kids need to see it - I suggested therapy for her. No kids don't need to see it and guess what - I don't need to see it either. I recommended she print it out and put it on her car like a bumpersticker for everyone to see. Facebook is like grammar school - people just behave like complete twits. I've unfriended the woman (a singer yet) who shared the photo, and will continue to do it whenever I see something on my newsfeed that I find wrong and that includes everyone's favorite outrage photos of animal cruelty, half of which aren't even real. I has spoken.
-
What a horrid thing to see.

Vibes for DR Elmore!

My condolences on the loss of your friend, TCB.
-
Well, this is weird. I got all my time in at work for this week, so I can actually leave earlier than usual today, but without using any vacation time! I'll have to try this more often. ;)
Be back later!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
TCB, I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I think one of the hardest parts of getting older is losing our friends. Vibes to you!

I, too, am pleased to see the Richard Sherman evening available online. I was really sorry I had to miss it.

I'm starved. Must go eat. WBBL.

Tomorrow morning I'm hosting a brunch for the outgoing and incoming AAUW Middletown board. Tables are set for 14 and 2 egg casseroles are chilling in the fridge, along with the ingredients for Mimosa Punch. Barb and Sharon are bringing pastries, Marge and Anita are bringing fruit. Agenda and minutes from the last meeting have been emailed to all and I'm done for the night. In the morning I'll set up the buffet table, make the punch and some coffee, and bake the casseroles. If I don't show up here until afternoon, you'll know why.
-
Have a good morning.
-
Page four? Really?

If we don't do something about this sorry state of things, those who are errant and truant will be forced to use tooth powder to brush their teeth from now on.
-
Thanks, DR Jane - I'm looking forward to it. We will also be celebrating the 26th anniversary of our move into this house.
-
Thank you , Jeanne. I haven't used my computer in two days. This typing on the phone is a pain.

Vibes to all. Will catch up soon.

I watched the NBC "Return To Normandy," which was quite moving, and all those 88-100 year-old veterans had me missing my dad, who would have loved this program
I will now head off to bed.

Actually, cocaine will turn two people's hair white. First your own hair because you sprinkle it in, but also the hair of the guy when he finds out you sprinkled $500.00 of his cocaine in your hair.

Yes, MBarnum, Diana Sands died far too young.

The concert was preceded by attending services at a local Reform synagogue, and followed by a late dinner out at a local bar and grill.

Thanks, Vixmom, I appreciate it.
-
Thank you again everyone. I accept all of your condolences and good wishes on behalf of Clark Maffitt. He deserves them all. :'(
-
Tonight, I went to Panera for dinner. I had two "rewards" on my Panera card...one was $2 any order over $5 (or something like that) and the other was a free pastry.
-
I got the chicken Caesar salad ($2 off) and a free pecan roll. The salad wasn't too bad but the pecan roll was very dry and fairly hard. It really seemed to me that that's the way that they are, so I didn't take it back.
-
It was okay, but I definitely won't have that again. :P
-
Clark was an amazing man. The comment made most often about Clark's acting is " that he never seemed like he was acting." That is why I wanted Clark to so Mr. Druxman's play about Spencer Tracy. Clark had that very same humanity that made Mr. Tracy such a great actor.
Clark was a natural born storyteller. and oh, the stories he told. Whether they involved the famous or the unknown, Clark regaled us, in the dressing room or after rehearsals, with these slices of his life. And he had a colorful life! He worked on several films, he toured for several years with Glenn Yarbrough, he and his musical partner (Maffitt and Davies) performed around the country and recorded a few albums on their own. Clark knew everyone from the folk music era. Like me, Clark had a taste for the alcohol, and many of his stories were of his drinking days. Clark never minded being the butt of his own stories.
Clark moved to Tacoma in 1994 because, I believe, one of his ex-wives lived here They were still close friends.
Clark loved women, and they loved him in return. As one friend said, "He made every woman feel like they were the only person in the room." And age never slowed him down. When we were doing INHERIT THE WIND, he had a date after every performance, each night with a different woman.
Several years ago, Clark moved to Martha's Vineyard to be closer to his grandchildren. Still, he agreed to return here a few years back to do ON GOLDEN POND at Tacoma Little Theatre. He was, naturally, mesmerizing!
Sorry, I guess I am rambling. There were so many parts to Clark. I guess I could go on and on. He will be missed.

Sorry, I guess I am rambling. There were so many parts to Clark. I guess I could go on and on. He will be missed.
That's a lovely tribute, Tom. :)

Back from a play and then a late-night food thing. I was only going to eat a BLT-A, but we ordered some nachos for the table so I had about a third of them - too much damn food. Must stop. AFTER Ruth's Chris tomorrow night.

And you didn't stop at KAY's for a donut after? It was NATIONAL DONUT DAY :-)
I remember PEPSODENT, and my parents had one of those funny cans of powder, a metal can, which looked an awful lot like talcum powder (but I didn't put it on my head like SOME people). I remember the jingle: "You wonder where the yellow went….when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent!" Power of advertising. I told Mr. Haverty that I always associated the Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture as the theme song for Puffa Puffa Rice Cereal………...
