Well, you've read the notes, the notes were all around pleasant, and now it is time for you to post until the all around pleasant cows come home.

The film was cast by the same ladies who used to get me all my work when I lived in Montreal.

I also used to go out a lot with one of the actors.

This is one of those TODs I can probably never answer.  There are too many kinds of sandwiches that I love dearly.  For me, a good sandwich is a perfect food.  They are a major weakness when it comes to overeating.

I haven't commented on that yet, myself, so let me just chime in with a  "Seriously!"

It's actually rather amazing, considering the bounty surrounding them!     :)

Little by little I am getting my movie memorabilia collection downsized via Ebay. For years I have been sitting on a load of posters, stills and lobby cards that I began collecting in the late 70s, but which have spent all of these years just sitting in boxes, so I decided I might as well send them on to new homes.

In some cases I am making a nice profit.

In other cases, things that I bought that nobody cared about way back then, well...seems that is still the situation! LOL!

Title: Re: THE ALL AROUND PLEASANT DAY
Post by: MBarnum on July 08, 2014, 08:51:04 AM
The only items I plan on keeping are my collection of Allison Hayes stills and a few pressbooks from her films, and my collection of June Kenney stills and all of the pressbooks from her films.

For the time being I am holding onto my Joi Lansing stills. There was a time when I could get some good money for Joi Lansing photos...but the market is pretty well flooded with them, now. The only one I have that is rare and might be worth much is an original production still of her from I LOVE LUCY. Since it also has my friend Jil Jarmyn in the photo, I'll likely keep hold of it.

I also can't seem to part with my collection of stills from REFORM SCHOOL GIRL (1957). #1 because I wouldn't get much for them, and # 2, because I just love that movie! LOL!

So I'm home from therapy.  While i was working with Morgan, my walking guru, I got all upset today and ended up weeping over my current depression.  How humiliating. When I left, I was the first person, not her co-workers, she had told today that she is 3 months pregnant.  She said she hoped her happiness would cheer me up.  She's a wonderful lady. I am happy for her and her husband.

Now I have to call the Kern attorney.

And, as I predicted, the electricians will not finish today.  They made great progress, but will have to come back tomorrow to do three small things in our bedroom and one in the downstairs bath.  When they ARE finished every room in the house will have received some attention, including the garage (but not the basement).

So, right after I wrote the post about Mike Connors, he looked over at me and smiled and said hello.  I leaned over and told him the story I've wanted to tell him since it happened - it's in There's Mel - that as a young actor doing his very first TV guest shot, I'd walked on the Paramount lot and the first person I saw was him and that he'd waved and smiled at me and how that made me feel I was really a part of the profession.  He seemed pleased to hear it.

Back from lunch.  Ate at a Cambodian restaurant.  Had beef simmered in peanut butter sauce served on a bed of spinach w/white rice.

Also had some spring rolls as appetizers.

A complimentary desert was offered:  Fried bananas w/vanilla ice cream.

I'm so full I could pop!

BK, I am so glad you talked to Mike Connors and told him that story!! I bet he did enjoy hearing it!

My friend Jackie Loughery lives in the same Encino neighborhood as Mr. Connors; just around the corner in fact. They have been neighbors for at least some 40 years (they may have even worked together at one time or another, I am not sure). Jackie says he is very nice guy, and she was nice enough to drive me past his house when I last visited. It was fun!

And, as I predicted, the electricians will not finish today.  They made great progress, but will have to come back tomorrow to do three small things in our bedroom and one in the downstairs bath.  When they ARE finished every room in the house will have received some attention, including the garage (but not the basement).

I'll bet that feels good.

Growing up Sunday's were deli-brunch day.  We would pick up a big spread from the deli & the bakery.  It was all delicious and we ate heartily.  In the afternoon we usually walked down the street to the tennis courts to play.

Lox and cream cheese on a bagel was one of my favorite sandwiches.

Today I just want to buy a loaf of Jewish corn rye, with seeds.

My favorite sandwich was leg of lamb on challah with ketchup.  Lamb was the first animal I stopped eating.

My second favorite sandwich was a white turkey sandwich on rye bread with mayo from Nate 'n Al's with their coleslaw.  I occasionally continued to cheat with that one until both Nate and Al were gone and the cole slaw wasn't the same anymore.

My favorite sandwich today is egg salad on challah.  Currently I have some delicious challah from Portland but once that is gone I won't make sandwiches.

My favorite sandwich to take to school was a chopped olive, with mayo, on challah.

I do love a good veggie burger on sour dough with lettuce, tomato, and avocado.

There was no cover, and no minimum food or drink charge. Don't know how they make any money, but it was nice for the customers.  It may become a habit!

On July 4 evening, somewhere east of Seattle, a 16 year old girl was driving her (I believe) aunt and uncle and their 8 kids home in an SUV.  The aunt and uncle had been drinking and they were arguing.   For some reason, the uncle opened the door and fell out of the car.  So the 16 year old driver slammed on her brakes and the two cars behind her plowed into the SUV.  The only serious injury was to the uncle who I think is still in the ICU.  Unfortunately for the 16 year old, she was high on pot, so the whole accident becomes her fault.
