Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wonderful and magical and had videos, and now it is time for you to post until the wonderful and magical cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PANEGYRIC!
-
7 a.m. and first after BK!
-
Sad news about the recording not working out for the "Time and Again" songs and those other three songs. (Is there a sound recording at least that could be shared?)
-
My goodness, today's notes were packed chock-a-block with interesting information! I am going to log out right now and go and look at all those videos.
-
Sad news about the recording not working out for the "Time and Again" songs and those other three songs.
Very sad, indeed.
-
The videos from the recent Kritzerland show were all uniformly excellent and entertaining! Thanks for sharing, bk. Sure would have been nice to be in that audience.
-
Good morning, all! Another day with little to report.
First thing this morning, I must run down to Broadway and 50th Street to drop off some things for the Jerome Kern attorney and hopefully resolve the recording issues fr New World Records. I need to be back here by noon t wait for the stove repairman.
I think that's my day.
-
Thanks for the videos-- almost like being there!
-
Dick Jones has died. He was the original voice of Pinocchio.
This makes me very sad. Pinocchio was my "role model" growing up. I saw the movie when I was 4 years old, and after I heard Pinocchio sing "Hi, diddlie dee," I was was determined to go into show business.

BK,
What the status of season 3 of OUTSIDE THE BOX?
-
Good morning, all.
A decent sleep, but I had a bit of an unsettled stomach yesterday afternoon and it's mostly gone but I'm keeping an eye on it.
-
Looking forward to watching videos once I'm fully up and on a proper computer.
Perhaps even an improper one.
-
The POP book sounds great, especially since it contains some crucial photographic evidence.
And yet I know so well the frustration of just the ADDITIONAL right photographs continuing to elude one. Oh, how I know it.
-
EXCELLENT! (The videos, that's what I'm talking about here, folks.) Great, great stuff.
-
Great videos in the notes! Thanks to MR BK for sharing.
-
good morning to all

Remember the photo of the Steel Magnolias Cast that I sent to the Hoosier Topics?
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/10386749_10204389899372752_6342694423877552739_n.jpg)
Monday night the local paper came and took their own photos, and this is the one that's on the front page today.....I am disappointed, to say the least. I wish the director had had a bit more time.....or made the photographer wait until the actresses had fixed their wigs.

biopsy day. i am positive that it's going to be negative. one less worry

Oldie joke day. Not necessarily a good one.
They are make movie that is a combination of Earthquake and The Towering Inferno.
It's going to be called "Shake & Bake"
-
DR Jrand63 - have they no decency?? ???
-
DR Mike - thinking of you today.

MOVIE OF THE DAY SCENE
Julius Caesar
(http://a66c7b.medialib.glogster.com/media/71/71b00ea7861f1c384dabe9e89a15ed3b16e32a812385bf9448ce491590066bcc/juliuscaesarantony1.jpg)
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Caesar.

TOD:
My Ask BK question:
Do you watch your singers in the studio as they're recording, or do you purposely NOT watch them, to "hear" the acting on the take as it will come across through the speakers?
-
I was probably the first producer in history not to watch singers. I describe it in detail in Album Produced By. I don't watch them because they do all that acting stuff and it fools you. The only thing that matters is that it's working for the ear. I have done this from the very first two albums and I've never changed.
-
I've been up since five-thirty - three hours of sleep is not enough, but hopefully I'll grab some more snoozing during the day.
-
Vibes for DR MIKE.
-
Obviously not DR SINGDAW.....the regular guy is in Paris this week, so we are dealing with some new guys.......if that was the BEST photo they got, I hate to see the other ones.
-
I am afraid it is going to end up on that website of awful theatre publicity photos.....Show Nuff

And the word of the day is: PANEGYRIC!
And The Song Of The Day Is: DON'T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA
-
Health vibes for DR Mike
-
DR Mike, keeping fingers crossed!
-
BK: Speaking of The Hollywood Bowl, TCM played a golden oldie last week titled MOONLIGHT MURDER (1936). It starred Chester Morris, Madge Evans, and Leo Carrillo and took place entirely at the Hollywood Bowl. It was a fun little murder mystery!
-
I was also sad to hear about Dick Jones. I really liked him in the tv series BUFFALO BILL JR.
However, I spent 3 days with him at a western convention in Memphis and he was anything but pleasent. I don't know if he was just in poor health at the time or what, but he was very unfriendly.
He told me that he hated coming to these things, but his wife loved it, so he went. He was quite nice to the fans, but wanted nothing to do with the other celebrity guests. That was the year I attended so that I could help out Kenny Miller and Laurie Mitchell. We tried to include him at lunches and dinners, but he would leave in a huff and sit as far away from everyone as he could. It was sad.

Interesting story DR MBARNUM.
-
DR Mike, keeping fingers crossed!
Ditto!
-
I've run my errand. Got into a fight with a young lady - 20-30 in age I guess - on the uptown 104 bus; she got on the bus one stop before mine, and rather than taking a seat, she stood in the back door well. Just stood there, God knows why. I was sitting in the back of these lousy new buses so I had to come down several steps, a painful process, to get out the door, and I waited on the steps while an older woman maneuvered her luggage around this isiot woman blocking both the door and my getting off the steps. As I exited, I made a comment like, "I don't know why you're blocking the door when you're not getting off," and she told me to go fuck myself. I responded with "eat shit, bitch" - very mature, I admit - and left the bus. Not one of my finer moments, but what an ass she was.
-
I was probably the first producer in history not to watch singers. I describe it in detail in Album Produced By.
Thanks for answering! I remember it being discussed in the Company cast album documentary, but I did not remember reading your account of it in your book. Makes a lot of sense.
-
what an ass she was.
Indeed. Lack of regard for anyone else in this type of public setting galls me more than just about anything.
-
Good morning.
-
Thinking of you today, DR Mike. And sending many vibes!
-
Today would have been my father's 96th birthday. He passed away when I was a teen. He was an amateur photographer. A few years ago on his birthday I honored him by buying a good camera. I think he would have loved digital cameras.
Today in his honor Wae-Ling and I headed north to photograph butterflies and things. She became ill when we got to Payson, so we came home. I imagine she will be sleeping most of the afternoon.
-
Good intentions are worth a lot DR LAURA.
-
DR Laura, you father would have been so proud and happy with the wonderful snaps you take!!!
When you publish that coffee table book we keep insisting you do, you must dedicate it to your dad!
-
My stove and oven are working again. Big relief.
-
DR JohnG, I was wrong. I do have a couple of items still up on Ebay. Nothing exciting, unless a shirtless publicity photo of Edson Stroll strikes you fancy.
Bid often and bid high, I always say.
I did just mail off two complete lobby card sets to 12 TO THE MOON (1960) and VIKING WOMEN AND THE SEA SERPENT, both heading to Alabama as I type this.
Plus a Mark Forest as Goliath lobby card is winging its way to another part of the country.
-
Very good, DR Elmore.
-
My stove and oven are working again.
GOOD NEWS!!! :D
-
{{{patented HHW hugs}}} for DR Laura today!
-
Vibes for DR Mike.
-
Good for you , Elmore. Btw, how did it go with the Kern estate?
-
It was Zach Efron in Orson and Me, not Braff. And Efron was enjoyable in that, which surprised me.
-
Happy Hump Day for those who have weekends!
Do the cows coming home today have humps too? Hmmmmm :D
So nice to see the Kritzerland video's, BK. We always see the run-throughs, but we only ever hear the actual performances. Thanks for posting them.
-
biopsy day. i am positive that it's going to be negative. one less worry
~~~Vibes for Desired Results for Mike!!~~~
Back from some lunch - turkey sandwich and a cup of soup. I did manage to get one more hour of sleep which was, of course, not enough.
-
My stove and oven are working again. Big relief.
Great news, Larry!
Thursday afternoon greetings! We were expecting the electricians back this morning but when they weren't here by lunchtime I decided to go shopping for shoes for DN Lauren's wedding. Found them at my first stop along with a cute matching purse. Went from there to Mom's, picked up her shopping list and credit card, did her grocery shopping, and delivered the results. Home cooling off before Richard and I go out to dinner and do some grocery shopping of our own.
-
Medical vibes for DR Mike!
-
My stove and oven are working again. Big relief.
So that's where the electricians have been today!
-
Page two? Really?
-
Slow ..... news.....day....means.....how 'bout some Peggie Castle (especially for BK).
It is nice that you spreading joy to all parts of the country DR MBARNUM.
-
I'd kind of like to see THE WHITE ORCHID.
-
Today in Dad's honor, I ate a tomato sandwich and listened to some pipe organ music.
-
Finger Man and Two-Gun Lady both look great.
-
Today in Dad's honor, I ate a tomato sandwich and listened to some pipe organ music.
Nice way to honor Dad.
-
I went to a mostly vegan burger joint or lunch. The gluten-free bun is vegetarian, but not vegan. And they do offer cheese. But I tasted the fishless sandwich and had the chopped "meat" bbq sandwich as well as a "corndog." Not bad. But I hate the quotes.
-
From DR Chas:
I never had one, but I've always heard how great the olives, cream cheese, and date nut bread sandwiches were at (if I'm not mistaken) the Chock Full of Nuts coffee shops in NYC back in the day.
I'm trying to recall the place in LA that had delicious date nut bread with cream cheese.
-
From Bruce:
The videos will be in tomorrow's notes, so stay tuned. Sadly, about five numbers didn't get taped, one of which was Robert's Time and Again medley - such a shame.
I was looking forward to it.
-
From DR Vixmom:
TOD
portabello mushroom, wilted spinach, roasted red pepper, smoked mozzarella with a little reduced balsamic dressing panini
That sounds more like what I would have expected Jane to say!
I went through a portabello mushroom sandwich faze, mostly because that is often the only veggie option. It really isn't my favorite. I like a good eggplant sandwich.
I suppose he gets points for being honest about his grumpiness.
I hope Wae-Ling soon feels better.
You sure got lucky!
My stove and oven are working again. Big relief.
Congratulations!
-
Is this day over. It took me 30 minutes to light my stove. That is ridiculous. I paused for five minutes, went back, and it lit immediately. WTF?
The pilot lights for the burners are working great, but the oven is cursed.
-
It sounds good. I guess the quotes are to remind you it doesn't really taste like meat.
Good evening!
Been out and about all day, finally back home.
-
DR Elmore, the only thing missing at the end of your little story about the bus ride was "and then I reached for my gun".
-
OMG, do I want a tomato sandwich now, or what?
-
Very nice remembrances, DR Laura.
-
What is in a tomato sandwich besides tomatoes and bread?
-
It must be a home-grown tomato. And just a little mayo if you like. And a little salt.
-
DR Elmore, the only thing missing at the end of your little story about the bus ride was "and then I reached for my gun".
I hope i never get to that point. What is it with stupid, inconsiderate people? They seem to be multiplying. I blame Sarah Palin.
-
What is in a tomato sandwich besides tomatoes and bread?
Mayonnaise.
-
It must be a home-grown tomato. And just a little mayo if you like. And a little salt.
And a smidge of pepper for me, please!
It seemed to me mayo would be needed :)
Sounds good.
-
This morning my hiking group went up to Mt. Ashland where it wasn't muggy. We stopped and visited Echo & Sherlock's resting place and I sat on their rock. It was a perfect day to hike there. There were a good number of hikers up there, including a few hiking the PCT (Pacific Coast Trail) from Mexico to Canada.
-
Let's see. What sort of vibes are needed?
Conflict-resolution vibes?
Smooth-sailing vibes?
Things-getting-better vibes?
How about all of the above?
-
Larry, I'm glad you're seeing progress with the stove, if not the oven.
;D
Not one mention of the bread of preference ;)
-
Medical vibes to DR Mike.
-
Hi DR Jeanne. All of the above is the safest ;)
-
In my view, bread often makes the sandwich. I prefer a hearty whole-grain, myself.
-
Yes, Jane. I think all are needed.
JRand, is this some sort of post-Mercury retrograde?
-
I decided to go shopping for shoes for DN Lauren's wedding. Found them at my first stop along with a cute matching purse.
You sure got lucky!
Yes, I did, DR Jane. I was cutting it close, as the wedding is Saturday...
-
Very close, but then you have been very busy.
-
We had a nice dinner at Olive Garden and then did our grocery shopping. Two $100+ trip to two different Krogers in one day are a bit much for me.
-
I think people are reading faster now that it is summer, at least it appears that way at the rate books are becoming available. This afternoon I put a hold on a book and it just came in. I'll wait until tomorrow before I download it as I have two books already.
-
DR Ginny are you stocking up for your new housemates?
Are you losing your guest room?
-
Has anyone been watching LONGMIRE? I'm not a fan of Westerns, but I do like this series. Contemporary, not wild west.
-
Vixmom, did you get your colonoscopy results? Is all well there?
-
In the distant past, I would have said plain old (but decent) Wonder Bread-style white bread. But nowadays I'm thinking a tomato sandwich could work very well with any number of breads, notably sourdough, rye, whole wheat, multi-grain, etc. etc.
-
Speaking of POP, does anyone know why it closed after such a short time? I also found it quite magical and wanted to return ASAP. Bruce, it was probably you who told me about it.
-
We do not watch LONGMIRE because we can't stand the actress who plays Vic. If you had read the books you would truly understand my objections to her. In the novels she is funny and described, by Longmire, as an Italian Goddess. The actress isn't funny and she doesn't look Italian.
I liked the rest of the cast very much. Shortly after it was published I read the latest novel and was very pleased. I am sorry this one actress can ruin the show for us. My brother watches anyway even though he doesn't like her either.
-
My favorite sandwich is cheese and avocado with lettuce, tomato, and Veganaise, on whole-grain bread. Yummy!
I actually like the actress, but I find her character irritating. I assumed that's how it was written. Apparently, the director chose to deviate from the novels. Casting can certainly ruin a show.
-
She is funny in the books, not irritating. The right actress would be funny with the script vs irritating :)
-
I was not expecting to like Lou Diamond Phillips in his role and think he is terrific.
-
DR Ginny are you stocking up for your new housemates?
Are you losing your guest room?
DR Jane, the new housemates are on their own, food-wise. We have yet to have the food/kitchen conversation, but I'd like them to be as independent as possible. I did say the other day I'm not really willing to be chief cook for four people. Heck, I don't much want to cook for two anymore...
And, yes, we are losing our capacity for overnight guests unless they want to sleep on our family room couch or Rob & Mary Linda's futon.
-
Good medical vibes to DR Mike!
The various times our boys lived back home they cooked for me. We did the main shopping and they did some as well. Bryan wasn't working at all when he lived here but Craig was so he did more shopping than Bryan did. It just fell into place with a mix of shopping and cooking, cleaning and errands. I think being single it was different.
-
Well, I'm off to the last rehearsal of "The Tempest" without an audience. Tomorrow night is the free preview. I'm sure that it'll go quite smoothly. If not...it's probably not my problem. ;)
Until later!
-
I have nothing to report.
-
What is in a tomato sandwich besides tomatoes and bread?
Mayonnaise.
It seemed to me mayo would be needed :)
I like a sprinkling of fresh dill on top, too. And I want sourdough bread.
Good evening. Not much to say today
Watching a tape of Vinnette Carroll's "When Hell Freezes Over, I'll Skate," a collection of black poetry by Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen and others. It stars Lynne Thigpen. I really miss her. What a great performer.
I was up very late last night working on my books for the office. I finally was getting ready for bed around 2:15 when I heard a crash and glass breaking and Ricky flew past me and down the basement stairs. Somehow he knocked a picture off a table and the glass in the frame broke. So I ran the vacuum at 2:30 AM. Then I went down the basement and poor Ricky was crouched under the table and very scared. I carried him upstairs and calmed him down. It was actually quite cute.
-
Since I had to have my car at the dealership for service by 8:30 and the dealership is about a 25 minute drive from here, I didn't get much sleep last night.
-
Ricky is still quite a clumsy cat
-
Tonight I should have mowed the yard AGAIN, but instead I got a hair cut and just sat around the house watching PBS
-
I still love my new tv
-
I don't watch the news very much anymore, but from what I see the world seems to be getting more violent lately.
I've been thinking about The Silkworm since I finished it. I didn't like it as well the first one. I think it could have ended a lot sooner and been better, but I love the characters and am looking forward to the next installment.
Finished with my viewing.
-
One post in two hours. Say what?
VIBES for all tonight the Vixter and I went to our local minor league baseball stadium to see the Ducks play. The tickets were purchased by our associate Pastor so we had a group of about 50 - 60 of us there. We had great seats right behind homeplate.
Unfortunately the Ducks lost in extra innings but a fun time was had by all
Tonight's "Tempest" went very well. We only had to stop a couple of times, but otherwise we went straight through. Last night, it took about 2 1/2 hours but tonight, it only took about 2 hours and 10 minutes...both times included the 15 minute intermission.
