Well, you've read the notes, the notes sang Que Sera Sera, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently watching Miss Doris Day in The MOO Who Knew Too Much.

for me it could be a lot better
Let me count the ways.
1) I am now on workmen's comp away from work.
2) I am unable to walk without the use of a cane. My left knee is in a lot of pain
3) I need to get an additional MRI. Hoping they do both at the same tint.
4) I dropped my laptop and the cost of repairing was about the same as buying a new one. Which I did buy? I bought a MacBook Air instead of MacBook Pro which doesn't have all the bells and kazoo the latter has. Never took advantage of what it had to offer.

Good morning, all! I slept a very long time, and I'm up and moving and pondering what will occupy my day. I think i may drag out the ladder and redo a shelf of books in my work space. On my way back from market, I saw the super who will be up later to examine the oven's pilot light, so I've got two events to consider over my coffee.

DR Cillaliz, will we have to call you "Yer onner?" I wish you great success with the application.

LOL,  No, you can still call me cilla. It's funny, I was so excited and up and positive about the possibilities for me and the time line of finding out in a month or two whether I got it,that I sort of feel like I got gut punched when Edith said she had a new job less than 24 hours afer I told her.   I know she says she'll stay on part time, but I don't think that will last.  After working together for 6 1/2 years,  I feel like I just lost my best friend. I really didn't expect her to give me notice before I even completed the application.  I guess I knew she was looking for something more in her career.  I'm happy for her, but it's still a blow.  I'm glad it happened now, so I can get over it before I file my application and have an interview.

DR CILLA LIZ what that means for a person with Scorpio rising is that you are doing exactly the right thing at exactly the right time!

Expect what you are asking for, and live in accordance with your actions.

My last suggestion - find a photo of a woman in a judge's robe, paste your picture over her face - and put it where you can see it every day.

Three apocryphal Doris Day stories:

Charles Herbert says that Day never spoke to the three boys playing her sons in PLEASE DON'T EAT THE DAISIES unless the cameras were rolling....she had no interaction with them on the set.

Doris would not come out of her dressing room during THAT TOUCH OF MINK because she and Cary Grant both wanted to sit screen left in a taxi cab scene.  After a couple of hours of high level meetings, Grant said it didn't matter to him....and took the screen right seat.

After Doris finished recording a song called OO-EE BABY....she took off her headphones said "Call me when they starting writing songs again...." and walked out of the studio.

I don't know of a Doris Day movie or song I don't like......

Well, give this one a shot!

I don't mean it in a good way. I think it's a real stinker!!!

I love Doris but did Marty Melcher force her to make this thing?

We watched till the end only because we couldn't believe how bad it was.

Tunnel of Love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tunnel_of_Love)

It's based on a rather successful Broadway play of the same name, starring Tom Ewell (in the Richard Widmark role), Nancy Olson (in the Doris Day role) and Darrin McGavin (in the Gig Young role). It's the same basic plot. Elizabeth Wilson and Elizabeth Fraser were both in the Bway production and they repeated their roles in the movie. I've taken the play out of the library to read just to see if it's as bad as the movie.

NBC News reports that a study has revealed that New York City is the unhappiest city in the United States:

"People living in the Big Apple are in rotten moods more often than people in other cities, according to a new study.

"New York City was ranked the least happy city in America when adjusted for income, according to a working study, titled “Unhappy Cities,” released by the National Bureau of Economic Research.

"The study leaned on a questionnaire that has been administered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the last several years and asks respondents: “In general, how satisfied are you with your life?”

Well TUNNEL OF LOVE and CAPRICE are about equal in their badness....although TOL wins by a nose.

Doris Day and Richard Harris should have been a dynamite screen couple....but the script is so bad.  And Miss Doris is doing "wig" acting at its most annoying....the only clips on YouTube are versions with dubbed voices...German or French....

But here is "wig" acting supreme in DO NOT DISTURB

Oh I know.  I am happy for her and unbeknownst to her, I saw an email she left open on her computer where she was telling someone how cool I was.  That made me feel a lot better. (she does know I use her computer when we have walk-ins when she's not there)

After a weekend with airplane crash survivors, a week of thinking about whether I was going to take a leap and apply for this job and then having Edith leave so quickly, I'm just emotionally exhausted.  I'm about to take a nap.  Then if it's not stormy I may go to the baseball game..

MEGA VIBES WE WILL SOON BE CALLING YOU JUDGE CILLA!!

With Edith moving on so quickly you will simply have to get the position.  I suspect she was trying to make a decision and your announcement was what she needed to make the jump.

Good vibes while you adjust to the changes!

Yeah, I think that's right about Edith. She's been talking to me about not knowing what to do with herself now that she's going to have an empty nest.   She's at one of those points in her life when it's time for a change and I think telling her that I was doing what's right for me and she should do what's right for her was what she needed to hear to go for it.

Congrats and good thoughts to you on your possible judgeship.

Thanks Ben!

I felt the punch for you when I read the news.  When will she switch to part time & will that be enough?  Will you need to hire a temp while you wait to hear if you are a judge or not?  It certainly complicates things.

Well, I feel better, I just called her and she told me that she just interviewed with the agency and they are going to set up an appointment for an interview with the attorney, but she doesn't think she wants to do it because she wants to stay with me part time and the other job full time and she's already registered for two classes online.  She's got it all planned out, lol.   I think the part time will work out fine. It will save me a lot of money, which isn't a bad thing either.   She'll be there 9-1 and the other job 3-11.   She's so happy, now it's time for me to do my part.

for me it could be a lot better
Let me count the ways.
1) I am now on workmen's comp away from work.
2) I am unable to walk without the use of a cane. My left knee is in a lot of pain
3) I need to get an additional MRI. Hoping they do both at the same tint.
4) I dropped my laptop and the cost of repairing was about the same as buying a new one. Which I did buy? I bought a MacBook Air instead of MacBook Pro which doesn't have all the bells and kazoo the latter has. Never took advantage of what it had to offer.

Just wen I've got a bit of money in the bank, that damned property in Ohio needs a tax payment and out it all goes. I have to thank my two brothers for letting their greed and counting their chickens in advance for this mess.

Can't you get them to buy you out so you don't have to pay the taxes every year?  I guess valuation may be an issue, but then you'd be done with it

Larry, maybe you can sell your portion to a completely separate (and possibly, sympathetic) third party...and maybe THEY will force your brothers to sell.

I believe the fires have been in So. Medford, at least the last several set this morning are.  One of the fires was in Hawthorne Park if you know where that is.  I don't.

Had a Cobb salad and a bagel for lunch, then came home.  I've spent the last three hours trying to figure out a sequence for The Spider.  There is a LOT of music and one wants to keep it fresh.  Right now it's a good ten minutes too long, so cuts will have to be made - ten minutes of them, but I'm sure that will become obvious as we go.  If not, I'll think about a two CD set that would also include Red.

Today I went back to the vegan restaurant, Sage, and ordered what my friend Jan ordered last week, the falafel bowl. It was very good. Mixed greens, tomato, cucumber, avocado, hummus, and falafel patties on a bed of quinoa and brown rice, with a bit of orange sections on the the side. I'm used to having my salad separate from my entree and side dishes, not all together, but I liked it.

The restaurant is relatively new and not crowded. I think we should enjoy it while we can--I think it could turn into a trendy hit.

DR Jane, Rob installed a screen door that is working beautifully.  Allie was upstairs all day today while Mary Linda was at work and Rob was at their old apartment making the walls white again.  They got delayed finishing that project and called to ask us to feed Allie and we decided she'd been in prison long enough.  Mary Linda is home now and Rob will be soon.

I enjoyed the notes on the show last night.  Doris Day was one of the first to organize for animal rights.  I have great admiration for her.

We were in Carmel with Sherlock and asked to take him into an art gallery.  The owner looked at his size, hesitated, then said Doris would be very unhappy if he didn't permit dogs.  Our favorite hotel there is the one she is part owner of.

Watching the extended version of Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, which was his part of the Grindhouse double feature. The full-length movie was better when it was shorter, which is strange because the other movie of the double-feature, Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror, was better in its longer form.

Back from a rehearsal.

That's interesting to hear about the Grindhouse movies, DR John G.  I've had all the versions here since forever but have never taken the time to watch the extended ones, and now it's been so long since I've seen the original double feature that I'll need to start from square one with that to figure out what's what.  But it'll be fun.  It was a hoot seeing that at the theater -- as it was for everyone else there of a certain age.

After I talked to Edith on the phone this afternoon I felt so much better.  I did the laundry and mowed the back yard and pulled weeds.  I was going to go to the baseball game, but it's going to be in the 90s an humid tomorrow and rain on Saturday, so I figured I better get my chores done tonight.  It's cool and windy now.  I'm glad I stayed home and got it all done

Now this weekend I can do some indoor chores.  I'm getting a sump pump put in my back room in the basement and a system that is guaranteed to keep my basement dry.  To get ready for them I have to empty out a storage room and demo some built in shelves.   It shouldn't be too bad of a job.  They aren't coming until Aug 13, but I want to get it done so I can forget about it.   It's the room with the litter boxes, so I'm telling people I'm redecorating the cats bathroom

I loved the Tarantino feature in the theater, and the ending still holds up. It's just that the longer exposition isn't really needed. In the Rodriguez film, the extra half hour or so really filled out the story line. And of course, the latter had some extra Texas barbecue jokes that really enjoyed.

From the ridiculous to the sublime: I'm now watching the first hour or so of Benjamin Britten's opera version of Death in Venice, which has been given a wonderful taping. I didn't care for the music in the first two scenes or so, but now that van Aschenbach has seen his Tadzio, well, the music has become really hypnotic.

Wasn't Falafel the name of Paul Winchell's dog?

Back from our little fixes with the mixes.  Easy to do and then we listened to the six things we'll be doing new horns on and figured out just exactly what parts are needed.  So we really only have two complete songs to do - the others are just pieces of things.  Should go smoothly.
