I started to read Lee Grant's memoir. I love when memoirs have an index so you can choose first what you want to read. First up was Airport 77, Bueno Sera Mrs. Campbell but no Damien: Omen 2 or The Mod Squad which I saw the other day where she guest starred along with Richard Dreyfus playing Mother and Son in 1970

BTW it was interesting to see Dreyfus' acting tricks that he used in future films

Larry - that's all well and good from yesterday about the bus, but the seating space allotted is tiny.  No reason for three seats, though, but even tall thin people spill over regularly into a second seat.

On the other hand, with all the calorie food info exploding on the net the past few days - i am delightedly surprised that a Big Mac has only 520 calories.  If you have that and a Diet drink (or water)  and nothing else, that's a very good calorie-conscious meal, and it has a bit of the good food groups, including vegetables.

August Wilson's former wife lives a few houses down from mine, and their former house is also just a stone's throw away, as well as the restaurant where he did a lot of his writing.

Friday morning greetings!  Things were pretty chaotic around here yesterday and we were without running water for big stretches of the morning and afternoon.  The wet bar is all in place, but not ready to use yet.  We're waiting for the plumbers to return to finish up and I'm ready to call a halt (or, at least, a moratorium) to the home improvements for a while.

Good morning, all! I did not get to physical therapy this morning: I canceled and went back to bed. I am sleeping badly, I'm not happy, and I'd rather be in bed that dealing with the cosmos.

I do need to accomplish something positive, since I need to keep active, so I think I will make a trip to the NYPL at Lincoln Center and return about 10 opera CD sets that John McGlinn checked out some time before his death and never returned. They turned up in the things leaving the office, and I will return them for him.

DR JRand63, thanks for the update on the state of the stars!  Eighteen days more? Oy!

DR FJL, I am by no means of the imagination svelte, and I can cope fine, if awkwardly, with two others on those seats built for some designer's imaginary concept of a rider's girth.

That said, the fat pig on the bus yesterday morning was a rude piece of crap. Rudeness and a lack of concern for others are standard situations in this age of narcissism and selfishness, and part and parcel of Manhattan existence: I see it every day as people who got to the bus stop last push their way onto the bus first, or young parents and their children sitting in the elderly, infirm seats and ignoring the people with crutches, canes, limps or signs of being maybe twice their age.  This fat creep is taking advantage of his weight problems, and I have no doubt he pulls this same crap on others in worse shape than I. It's hard not to wish him ill. I wish him only the worst.

We did the show for 12 weeks, and then revived it at a different venue, then took it to Ireland for a theatre festival.

At no time during the run was I able to see my face in any mirror in any dressing room.....it was always too crowded.

I wondered during rehearsal why August Wilson would start his show with a ten minute dialog between the two recording engineers....until the show opened....we had people coming in during the first ten minutes at every performance.

The only way they'll cancel your old registration (and hence stop the property taxes) is if you turn in the old plates.

Back from mailing my old license plates back to the DMV in Connecticut.  I should have taken care of that long ago, but it's off the list now.

You actually had to return the license plates??  I've never heard of that.

The only way they'll cancel your old registration (and hence stop the property taxes) is if you turn in the old plates.

You pay property taxes on your automobile? It must be a deluxe model!

Soon I will have all of my episodes of JULIA watched. I sure do love that show. And, I love that Fred Williamson is in much of the final season.

I have heard he was a jerk, but he was sure a handsome one!

Yes, DR John G, it could be.  We were discussing at dinner last night how it might appeal to future buyers of this house.  I've been joking that, when Rob and Mary Linda move out, we'll hire a live-in caregiver and Richard and I can live here forever!

Then you won't need to worry about future buyers ;)

Usually they take the old ones from you, if not you get to keep them, or used to be able to.

Wow!  I'm glad I didn't have to do that when we left Connecticut.  At least I don't remember having to do that.

Well, I'm leaving work now so that I can go home and get what I need to bring downtown to The Midnight Sun for tonight's pajama party and waffles movie night!  I have no idea how many (if any) people will show up, but we'll be ready for them.

Have a good rest of the evening, all!

Our neighbor spent two hours picking wild blackberries on our road.  She then baked a pie with slices of peaches on top of the berries and served it to us still warm from the oven with Häagen-Dazs vanilla bean ice cream.

your car registration is linked to your property taxes?  I don;t understand how that works. What if you don't own property?

Yes, DR vixmom.  I get a bill every year.  The tax used to be a lot higher but a former Governor lowered the rate.  And some cities or counties issue a sticker for your windshield to prove you paid.  My county eliminated that several years ago.

As promised, here is a photo of the newly-installed wet bar.  It's 98% complete and fully operational.  A carpenter will come to put the finishing endpiece on the countertop and to repair the baseboard.  We are very pleased!

Tomorrow morning very early my neighbor's "high end" yard sale starts.  They have apparently advertised it all over and people may come from miles and miles away.  I took over a number of things - some nice, a few just stuff.  Mostly big stuff like an oak table, big antique mirror etc.  I don't have to go over for it, but I think I'll set the alarm for 6:00 and see what's happening.  They actually expect people by 5:00 AM! How crazy is that.

After the sale I may go to the office, or I may take the day off and just work on Sunday.   Saturday night they are giving away baseball caps to the first 500 people at the game, so I'll likely go.  I also have a ticket for Sunday night.  It should be a good weekend.
