Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Maude, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently seeing their favorite cowbaret performer, MOOde MOOgart.
-
And the word of the day is: CACOGRAPHY!
-
Sounds like Maude had a good director for her cabaret act...like you've talked about many times before. :)
-
I actually don't know if she has a director or not - most need them, but some get on fine without.
-
Happy Birthday to (former) DR S. Woody White!
-

Didn't know that.
-
And now, I'm off to bed. I finally get to sleep in...well, as much as my cat will let me sleep in.
Good night.
-
So glad that you enjoyed Maude's cabaret show, bk. Jonathan Schwartz has been playing a lot of her on his radio show the past few years.
-
Happiest of birthday wishes to former DR S. Woody White!!!!

Good morning, all! I really wanted to sleep late, but I am heading off to Toyland to pick up the book I left there. I hope to be home by 11:00.
Maude McAfee is the daughter of actor Brandon Maggart and sister of Fiona Apple
Coffee first.
-
It's Sunday, but I didn't get to sleep in.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
Did somebody say Sunday?
Because if it's Sunday, I must have an all-day rehearsal.
Okay, a 12:00-5:00 rehearsal. But that effectively kills the day, does it not? Why yes, I believe it does. So I'll do that, then enjoy some time in front of a movie or two this evening, and that will be my day.
-
Greetings from Toyland! The book is in the bag, and I will head back uptown in another 10 minutes.
-
Sunday morning greetings! I'm all ready for Richard to drop me off at my sister's hotel on his way to church in Cincinnati. Nancy and I are headed to Owensboro, KY, today for a genealogy meeting tomorrow. On the way home Tuesday, we have a very important stop to make at the new Vera Bradley outlet store just east of Louisville.
-
Lots of moving about by HHW'ers this morning....except me. I am staying put. More rain predicted for today - so the grass will be HIGH this week.
Last night was closing night of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, so today they will be putting up the set for THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER - hopefully the SHOP cast & staff did the cleaning and putting away that they are supposed to do.....we shall see.
I do not have a rehearsal until Wednesday, when we do Act III again.
-
Nice notes about the cabaret show.
Yes, I hope DR SINGDAW posts a photo of the six-drawer chest. I don't buy anything from IKEA....I don't like to put things together.
I did put together my writing table/computer desk.....putting on the legs and assembling the drawer, so that wasn't too bad. It was NOT IKEA, it was a WalMart special....
-
good morning to all

And the word of the day is: CACOGRAPHY!
And The Song Of The Day Is: MAIRZY DOATS

Here is the Maggart Family

good morning to all
And A Happy To You. Hope You Are Feeling Better !

And I was home by 11:00, with my mystery, some other books and some CDs. On my way downtown, I read the Act one libretto of Chee-Chee. It owes a great deal to Gilbert & Sullivan; it may be set in ancient China, but the characters are 1920s New Yorkers: Chee-Chee is a spoiled petulant society wife, her husband's a moron, the tartar Chief is the Latin boyfriend, the soubrette is a rich young flapper, the Prince a young, rather dim, playboy, and the Grand Eunuch a mogul, whose idiot son won't take over the family business. It's rather like a comic episode of THE SOPRANOS. It could all occur in the wilds of Manhattan and New Jersey.

Got to church at 7:45 to discover that after the wedding yesterday no one reset the church altar for church and someone "helped" by putting away the six tables and 54 chairs that had been set up for coffee hour. I started setting up but fortunately a. Couple of other early arrives showed up and helped me get al the tables and chairs set up
-
I set up the coffee and cake but another family came along and took over for me so I could head on home by 11:15
-
I guess I had better get some stuff done around here. We leave next Saturday and nothing is done
-
Have a wonderful day!

Good morning.

Sorry to be E and T. yesterday I went to the office and worked most of the day. Then about 3:30 Jon and Joe arrived. They were staying at my parents at the lake and stopped here for the night on the way back to Joplin. We went to a really fun Elvis themed movie, complete with a quiz and sparkling prizes. They both had a good time with my friends, which is always nice. We stayed up very late talking and then got up a 7:30 got ready, packed the car and met Paul for breakfast. They got on the road about 9:30. It was great to see then both
-
Since I rarely have guests, the cats were a little freaked out. They have calmed down now
-
I have my last load of laundry in the washer. Then I need to mow the yard, but have to be careful as there is a bunny maternity ward in a part of my front yard. I'm going to leave a big wide section around it unmowed. It will help keep them hidden
-
I'm really glad they didn't get here until late afternoon yesterday. It gave me a chance to get a couple projects done at the office that have been nagging at me. Now I can relax a bit more today and do things around the house. I may still go into the office later, but only for a little while
-
Yesterday I got the first bill from the surgery center after my colonoscopy. Insurance didn't pay because if my deductible. I get that, but this is the first bill they've sent me and they say that the bill is 61-90 days late. Late? you haven't billed me before now. What's up with that
-
God morning Laura

Have they been counting the days since they billed the insurance company, maybe??? (That would be strange.)
-
God morning
It was definitely a God morning for me. The DH has the 5 Sundays of August off, so we've been church hopping to see what is going on around here in the world of church music. This morning we visited 4 different churches. It was quite interesting and varied. But we're exhausted.

DR Jrand63 - this is what the chest of drawers will look like, once we've assembled the drawers:

We are expecting monsoon-like thunderstorms this afternoon.
-
Two police, mounted on horses, just passed by the house on the street. It looks pretty weird in quiet residential neighborhood. I have not seen that before.

That's what it looks like. They have the credit from the insurance company on the bill for the portion they did pay and that was about 30 days ago, so I'm guessing that's what they are doing.

Is there some event going on?
-
Time to go back out into the heat and finish mowing the yard. I left a big patch for the maternity ward and maternity ward protection. I can see momma bunny across the street. Haven't seen her back in the yard, but she'll only come back every 12 hours.
The last load of laundry is in the dryer and the house is pretty clean.

Good afternoon!

From Ms. Streisand's upcoming CD-- a duet with Michael Buble:

The CD is called Partners. It consists of duets with male singers, including Billy Joel, Josh Groban, Lionel Ritchie, Stevie Wonder, her son Jason and Elvis!
-
Happy birthday, Woody!
Ditto!
-
I'm up - I was up at eight-thirty and fell back asleep at nine-thirty - so I guess I got about nine hours of sleep all told.

We got a letter threatening to turn us over to a collection agency for a flu shot I got at a pharmacy medical clinic. I told the NP at the time that our insurance wouldn't cover a flu shot; she insisted it would and required my insurance info. TEN MONTHS later we got the threatening letter.
I won't go there again.
-
Enjoy your monsoon-like storm, Singdaw. Our storms are very dramatic: wind, thunder, lightening, pouring rain ... Lots of fun.
-
Since I rarely have guests, the cats were a little freaked out. They have calmed down now
Good for you though to have your nephew visit. I'm glad it was a good one and it seems Joe is like family by now.
-
Finished "Wolf of Wall Street," now watching the last episode of "Sherlock Holmes," which is so good that I wish it wouldn't end.

Oh I'll just pay it. I've known it was coming so I do have the money saved to pay the thing. It will be done then.

This morning I read:
Sherlock: His Last Vow won four Creative Arts Emmy awards overnight for Cinematography, Picture Editing, Score, and Sound Editing. Huge congratulations to the winners!
Sherlock: His Last Vow has a further four nominations in the Mini-series or Movie categories for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Writing and Best Directing at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards taking place on August 25.

I just met my departing physical therapist Morgan. She asked me if i'd like a ton of things from her pantry and refrigerator, and I gave her a package of CDs I'd wrked on over the past 20+ years. I will miss her enormously, and, while I very much like all the therapists who've treated me for the past year, I give her much of the credit for whatever shape I am now in. It broke my heart to say goodbye today.
-
Nice exchange DR elmore. Thank goodness she was still here when you needed her the most.

Thank you. Even on my computer with the lousy sound and competing with the washer & dryer, this sounded pretty good.
-
Enjoy your monsoon-like storm, Singdaw.
Thanks, DR Laura. We've had some light rain so far. It looks very threatening, but nothing dramatic. Yet.

Wonderful that you could actually say goodbye, even though it's hard, I'm sure she'll love the CDs and will think of you often. Sorry she's leaving, but so glad you got to work with her

Barbra sounds amazing in this clip - much closer to the early Barbra sound that I love so much.
-
Just had the helper take seven huge boxes of DVDs to Amoeba.
-
I picked up a Fitbit today. That is a step counter. I do about have the exercise I used to do and that needs to change. I'm hoping this works and it will motivate me to get off the computer and move more.
This is a good time of year to begin this as there is lots of work to do in the yard. Most of that involves bending down to pick up leaves, acorns, or apples the bears left behind. I'm not sure how many steps I will register.
-
That's a nice piece of furniture DR SINGDAW.
Sounds like DR CILLA LIZ and Co had lots of fun last night. Which Elvis movie was it?
-
I am watching a show on PBS about Girl Groups....but mostly it's a pitch for me to send them MONEY.
-
Back from a pretty good rehearsal.
-
This was shared on the castrecl list - it's a review of the Demy set from the Boston Globe:

Jane - I will be very interested to hear your reaction to working with the Fitbit.
-
Back from a pretty good rehearsal.
They have a lot to answer for, taking you away from us for most of the day. 8)
-
DR Elmore, she looks like a lovely person -- but of course we already know she's a good one for all you've said about her. But how nice to offer pantry goods, etc. And she'd better listen to those damned CDs! (Of course she will.)
-
I am watching a show on PBS about Girl Groups....but mostly it's a pitch for me to send them MONEY.
The PBS drive is rampant on both stations here. I caught a bit of a folksingers reunion.
-

I think she and her husband Chris will enjoy them. They were always getting to Broadway shows and then we'd talk about them. i think the last thing they saw was Jim Dale's one-man show.
-
Jane - I will be very interested to hear your reaction to working with the Fitbit.
If it doesn't register steps on the Stairmaster I doubt I will keep it. I was going to get the more expensive one until I realized it only counts stairs, real stairs not Stairmaster ones.
I don't know how accurate these are but it will give me a base to work with. The goal everyone is supposed to have is 10,000 steps.
-
Up from a nap. And now off to dinner at Morton's. I love Restaurant Week. I get to go to places I can't otherwise afford.
-
Back from a mile and a half jog - too darn hot to do more.
-
DR elmore- it's so nice you got to see Morgan before she left.
-
New WIPEOUT tonight.
-
Elmore, how lovely of Morgan to say one last goodbye and how sweet to offer the goodies. I am sure she will enjoy the. CDs. What a thoughtful gift that was to give to her
-
I am glad that you got to see Morgan one last time it was very kind of her to offer all the goodies and it was lovely gesture for you to give her all those CDs you have worked on it was a lovely and personal gesture and I am sre she will appreciate it
-
Hmmm. My post never showed so ire typed it as best I could remember and the. The original post showed as we'll. I am sure it is me doing something wrong on their ipad
-
Which I nam having a lot of fun figuring out
-
(((((Elmore))))) I hope the new therapist is just as good as Morgan.
-
There's a BIG storm headed our way. I hope it gets here!!
-
Ours has not arrived. But I hope yours does, DR Laura!!!
-
Storm vibes for DR Laura!!!
-
Post deleted.
-
I'm sorry you didn't get your monsoon-like storm. They are lots of fun. If you like storm drama, which I do.
-
Step 1 on the Fitbit, insert battery. I needed Keith to open the back & close it for me. He had difficulty so it wasn't just me. ::)
-
LOL Now I'm waiting for Keith to help me with the download part because my computer says "warning". After that I'm might still be clueless.
-
good luck with your fitbit Jane
-
SingDaw how is your mouth feeling any better?
-
Thanks DR vixmom - still very very sore. I am worried that this might mean there's some other problem. But I see my regular dentist on Tuesday morning, so I am hoping all will be resolved in short order.
-
good luck with your fitbit Jane
Thanks. We have given up on it for the night.
-
Yeah, I kinda think a Fitbit would be too much technology for me. My ipod has a step counter. I have no idea how accurate it is, though.
-
The wind has begun; the lightening is off in the distance.
-
Fun dinner. I had a lemon souffle and all's right with the world.
-
I think I'm easily amused.
-
I just have to write it up tonight.
-
And I'd rather watch "Oldboy."
-
John, I eat chicken breast and salad. I am not losing any weight. I am so jealous of the foods you get to eat.
-
Off to work.
-
Sunday evening greetings from the south side of Owensboro, KY! The trip that should have taken us about 4 hours took 7 because my sister and I opted to take a scenic route to avoid going through Cincinnati and Louisville. That worked fine, but shortly after we got on the interstate we ran into torrential rain and we pulled off the highway for a bit. Then, looking at the radar, it made more sense to take the back roads because they would take us away from the heavy rain. It was a beautiful drive, but l-o-n-g.
-
Glad you got there safely, Ginny.
-
Anyway, we've crashed for the night. Our genealogy work tomorrow will include lunch at Moonlight BBQ.
-
Interesting. Looks from the radar like the storm is splitting and going around us.
-
Sorry you are tired, DR Ginny. Very glad that you are safe!
-
Thank you, DRs Laura and Singdaw!
-
'night!
-
Thanks DR vixmom - still very very sore. I am worried that this might mean there's some other problem. But I see my regular dentist on Tuesday morning, so I am hoping all will be resolved in short order.
VIBES for a quick and easy fix
-
Well, it certainly did split and go around us. Darn.
-
That's a nice piece of furniture DR SINGDAW.
Sounds like DR CILLA LIZ and Co had lots of fun last night. Which Elvis movie was it?
Harum Scarum,, but we didn't stay for the movie. It was after 10:00 when we left. There was an Elvis themed coaster contest and an Elvis quiz. My friends were at Graceland at the tenth anniversary of Elvis' death and interviewed people about it. We watched part of that, but the sound wasn't good, so we left and spent time together at home talking and laughing
-
Back from Dan Callaway's farewell to LA concert - fortunately, he's only an hour out of New York and he can come play with us there.
-
Jon and Joe were on the winning team for the quiz so they got to choose from all sorts of Elvis memorabilia. Jon gave me one of the official 10 year anniversary candles that they lit at the vigil and an Elvis pen.
-
Went to the baseball game tonight after unclogging the kitchen sink. There are only three home games left. I have a ticket for the last game with fireworks, but it's the night before I have my interview, so I'm not sure if I'll go or not. I'm thinking I may go for part of the game and leave early. I'm going to miss the games
-
Ginny, I'm glad you made it safe. Mom said that it has been raining all day today and it was raining hard yesterday. She also said the forecast for the rest of the week in Louisville included rain. So, plan ahead on your return trip.
-
Better get to sleep. 4:30 tomorrow is the deadline for applications for the judge position. I'm very curious to see who else applied.
-
Good night, all.
-
Glad you made it safely Ginny. I think we're supposed to have storms tonight, but they haven't started yet, so maybe it won't happen.

She sounds really good, and I'll certainly get the CD, but does she only do ballads anymore? There doesn't seem (to me) to be any variety in her song style choices. Just my 2¢.
-

Back from a pretty good rehearsal.
Me, too. It was HOT in our little space. No air conditioning...unless we want to buy an air conditioner and pay to have it all installed, which we really can't afford. At least, not yet. I'm sure that someday (hopefully sooner rather than later) we'll be able to get one.
Anyway, I just stood around and watched all the one-acts. Michael, our light and sound designer was building more cues as the evening went on, which was fine. It all went well, otherwise.

I wonder if these are going to be available individually. I bought "Lola," "Umbrellas" and "Rochefort" one at a time from www.amazon.fr. I don't want to buy those three AGAIN just because I also want "Une Chambre en Ville." :-\

I've never had lemon souffle. Actually, I don't think I've ever had any souffle. I've had chocolate mousse, but not souffle.

goodness gracious when did it get to be 1:30 in the AM?
I have to be up in 5 hours good night

George, I'd guess the there will be a French release of Une Chambre from Arte Video, the company that did Umbrellas and Rochefort.

George, I'd guess the there will be a French release of Une Chambre from Arte Video, the company that did Umbrellas and Rochefort.
I hope so, but there isn't anything, yet. I'll keep checking. I mainly want it because the soundtrack was one of Kritzerland's first releases. :)
-
Not that I get every DVD for every CD that Kritzerland releases, but I'd like this one.

It's a very interesting film.
