Well, you've read the notes, the notes were itsy bitsy and wore a yellow polka-dot bikini, and now it is time for you to post until the itsy bitsy cows come home.

And the word of the day is: PRESENTIMENT!

AARRGGHH!! I just missed posting a Page Six Dance last night...just a moment ago. Oh, well.

And Happy Birthday to (former?) DR jhvw, who is current DR Cillaliz current nephew!! ;D

Well, today's going to be a day and this week is certainly going to be a week. My supervisor gets back from her almost three week cruise through the Mediterranean, our new selector also starts work today, this is the cut-off week for our monthly invoicing, I have to drive my friend Margo to the airport tomorrow AND be back in time for rehearsal, AND I have a lunch date (an actual date!) on Wednesday that also will take time away from invoicing, all of which has to be done by Wednesday before I leave for rehearsal!
-
Also, my new hours were supposed to start at the beginning of the month, but because I didn't have a supervisor to call to say that I would be late, I was still being flexible with my hours. ::) Since she's now back, I MUST get to work by 10:00 am. I used to get to work at 11:00 am and work until 8:00 pm (well, those were my official hours), but the powers that be decided to close the building at 7:00 pm, so now I have to start work at 10:00 am to get all my hours in and take my normal hour lunch. So, I need to go to bed now so that I can get to work on time.
Good night...anyone who's still here.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
I am quite sure that DR Jrand63 will be lining up to buy (and wear) this tuxedo made out of denim: ;)

That's bad timing about your date on Wednesday, DR George - with the invoicing deadline, I mean.

TOD:
I used to have a big book and loved just about ALL of the Mother Goose nursery rhymes.
It was only in retrospect, later as an adult, that I realized how dark so many of them actually are.
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down? :P

Good morning, all.
Monday. Right? Am I right?

To quote Bock and Harnick:
Right? Of course, right. :)

Ninety minutes of sleep. Upset tummy and too damn hot in the house, but I can't do air conditioning when sleeping. Well, hopefully I can get a few hours after I announce. Here's the blurb:
Kritzerland is proud to present a new limited edition CD release:
THE SPIDER
Composed by Soren Hyldgaard
Nordic Noir. Wallander. Steig Larsson’s Millenium Trilogy (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest). The Killing (Forbrydelsen) from Denmark, which was a sensational hit, spawning a not nearly as effective American version. The Bridge (Bron) a Danish/Swedish production, again spawning a not nearly as effective American version. And then there was the wonderful Danish miniseries, The Spider (Edderkopen) from 2000.
The series was set in post World War II Copenhagen, with the country still recovering from the end of Nazi occupation, with gangsters, corruption, and the black market everywhere. It’s a large, tangled spider’s web of intrigue, deceit, honor, love, corruption and family, played out against an atmosphere thick with wonderful period detail in the settings and costumes. And what really ties the six brilliant episodes together is the wonderful and evocative score by Soren Hyldgaard.
Beginning with the mesmerizing main title music, which draws you immediately into a musical spider’s web, the score is so multilayered, varied and rich in its thematic material, it almost plays like a noir tone poem. Hyldgaard is that rare thing in film music today, a composer who is not afraid of melody, and his melodies in The Spider are sublime and unforgettable. His music is part of the fabric of the series and propels us from episode to episode, tying together all the various plots and subplots. The music is beautifully played by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
We are thrilled to bring his stunning score to The Spider to CD. There was an earlier CD release in Denmark, which quickly went out of print – that CD was about forty-four minutes duration. This CD runs close to seventy-nine minutes and is complete save for some repeated themes and cues. It’s a major score with occasional echoes of Herrmann, Goldsmith and John Barry, but somehow remaining its own unique musical landscape. This CD was mastered from the composer’s complete score tapes.
The Spider is limited to 1000 copies only and is priced at $19.98, plus shipping.
CDs will ship by the last week of September, but we’ve been averaging three to five weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date. To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

Did you ever find a solution to the missing cd covers that used to appear in the lower left corner in ITunes? I also noticed it disappeared and tried to see if I could return them without any success.
I think it was dropped in a recent update. I hate not having them there.

It's Monday! Woo Hoo! We got a lot of lighting and thunder overnight-- and are still getting some of it--- but not much rain. I'm hoping it will rain more and that this weather will continue through the day.

CD ORDERED!

Travel vibes for DR GINNY.
-
DR George I knew that you liked to start work late but for some reason I was not thinking 11am. That is late! Even 10am seems late to me. Hopefully you will get used to it.
-
Ordered the CD. Though totally unknown to me except for things BK has said about it, I look forward to hearing this music and to eventually, someday, watching the miniseries.

Yesterday I went to International at the park/lake. They set up booths from 10-20 countries. And they serve food, do dances, sing... It was actually a very nice day. Unfortunately too many people showed up so the lines were long. Luckily I got an amazing parking space. The event was from noon - 4pm. I got there at 1pm and there were a lot of cars parked on the street quite far away. I decided to try the parking lot.And there were spaces (I guess they other people thought that parking lot would be full).
I ate from: Greece, China, the Ukraine, The Philippines and another one or two. I really wanted the Greek food but did not like that they were putting the food on the plates an hour before. The Ukraine team were boiling perogies made to order (liked this idea better).

On Saturday it was the Finals for summer swimming. 25+ pools from most of Montreal sent the top qualifying swimmers. My niece was in the first race and we were all pretty nervous. The girl who she beat by a hair in the winter finals was swimming against her (and that girl had a qualifying time that was much better than anything my niece had swam this season). It was a very exciting race and they both touched at the same time. So we had no idea who won.
It turns out my niece won with her best time by far 17.28 (for 25 meters). The other girl swam 17.45. My nieces best time this year had been 17.88. She was so happy when she saw the results.
Her relay also came in first. So it was a really good day even though it was rainy and drizzling for much of the meet.
-
That is great, DR Jennifer! An exciting race, for sure.

Good morning, all! I was feeling poorly this morning so I moved therapy to tomorrow and went back to bed. Now that I am up, I've got a lot of things to accomplish in the apartment. It will be grisly since there is far to much to be put away.
It's mostly carting storage boxes about, putting away too many CDs and dealing with decisions on what will be shipped to Miami University Library when some available cash rolls in.
DR Slingshot, I hope that your dental problems are healing nicely, but some of these posts prompt me to suggest you lay off the meds.

In other news, now that I have finished up with JULIA, I am now watching episodes of POLICE WOMAN.
You know what, it is quite an excellent show! When I spoke to BK's neighbor Earl Holliman some months back he encouraged me to give the show a watch, and I am glad that I did. Lots of wonderful guest stars! Lots of strange 1970s clothes and huge-moungous 1970s cars. But the plots could be something right out of any current cop show. I was pleasantly surprised at how well a lesbian plot-line was handled.
-
What a cute picture, DR Cillaliz!
-
Their mom posted it on FB today and I thought it was cute. Hopefully Jon will stop by and say hi to everyone today.

Some DRs were discussing the Little House on the Prairie book series not too long ago.
This article indicates that a gritty, unexpurgated autobiography by Laura Ingalls Wilder will be released this fall:
http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/271515601.html (http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/271515601.html)

Also, the last episode seemed to have an anti-smoking bit to it. In one scene Earl Holliman goes to a bank to investigate a dead elderly woman's account. He meets with the manager who offers him a cigarrette, which Earl declines. The banker grabs one and asks Holliman if he mindes if he smokes, Holliman says "Actually, yes, I do mind." And Earl then pushes the ashtray away from where he is sitting.
It was just a small bit, but rather interesting.

Love the pic of the nephews, DR Cillaliz!

Hopefully Jon will stop by and say hi to everyone today.
Well, in that case:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR jhvw!!!!!!

Quote from: VIXMOM
Are the names of all the applicants of public record?
VIXMOM, yes, after the deadline they do a press release of all the applicants names. After the interviews they release the two names going to the governor and, of course they release who the governor picks.
Today is the deadline to apply, so around 4:45 I'm expecting to see an email naming the applicants. I've only heard of two others and I think that's why I'm really curious to see who else may have applied. They usually have around 10, but no one seems to be applying. I find that very interesting
-
Thanks MBarnum and Singdaw. I better get some work done

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! Things are going good here in Joplin. Had a great vacation last week visiting the family in Northern Iowa and had a great time visiting Cillaliz! Back at work today catching up. I'll pop back on here tonight and catch up with you guys :D

I have been on the phone for nearly an hour with Time-Warner; several weeks ago, I noticed that my wi-fy account had been changed. I thought it might have been something that had occurred in other end and, since I look for issues to prevent starting a grisly job, I decided to deal with all of my TW issues. All is now happily resolved and I have my Wi-fy account back up and running and the interloping Wi-fy, which must be somewhere in the building, is locked out. Hopefully, no more slow connections.
Oy!

I need to keep up on news a little better than this, but Licia Albanese passed away on Friday at age 105.

The Minnesota State Fair commences in a few days. It is apparently a smorgasbord of food and festivities. Including this: a llama costume parade.

I think it was dropped in a recent update. I hate not having them there.
What I mostly hate about the iTunes updates is that songs are re-genred. I have complete cast recordings where for some reason, some of the tracks are marked as "soundtrack," some are "soundtracks," and some are "musical." So, I change them all to "musical," but every time I update iTunes, they're back to the old genres. AND there are some that are marked as "musical," but after I update, they're moved to my "soundtrack" or "soundtracks" section lists, but actually have "musical" as the genre! WTF??

We are in Ohio again on our way back to New York from Michigan. We will probably be back in NYC on Wednesday. We're stopping an extra day, tomorrow, in Pennsylvania to break up the drive.
We're in Richfield again, same hotel, different room.

I ask because, as I clear out space, I have some DVDs, possibly some CDs, too, that you might like. Perhaps this weekend, you and Anthony might want to cme to Toyland or to my apartment and play Christmas in August. I have an LP to CD transfer job for him at Toyland.
-
I'll let Anthony know. We are stopping in the city for one night only because we have the car. We will park in front of the building, unload and then spend the night and the next morning we have to drive off to Long Island to return the car. We have to leave by 8am because of NYC parking regulations. We were planning on staying on LI until Sunday. We will connect though. I would love to come over and look through the CDs you brought back from Toyland.

DR George, the link that DR JRand63 posted helped me a lot. What is not good about this new iTunes system is that you cannot download your own artwork for OP or noncommercial CDs that aren't sold as iTunes or Amazon downloads. So . . . I cannot get artwork for my final mixes of ROBERTA , but when the album is released, I'll be able to.

If you can find an image from another source on-line, you can add it manually. On my PC, I can right-click on an image and click "copy," then go into "Get Info" (I think that's what it's called...where you can edit all the information of a song) and there's an Image tab. Just paste the image and click "Okay." I'm not at my computer at home, so I hope that I'm remembering things correctly.

Correct, but if that doesn't bring up anything, you can find the image somewhere else and paste it in the Artwork tab. You can actually do it a couple of ways. If you find an image on-line, save it to your hard drive and click on the "add" button under "Artwork," and find where you saved it:

As we drove on the Ohio Turnpike this morning (and last Thursday) we passed the exit for a lovely town called

I tried to take a picture of the exit on the highway but it didn't turn out. We didn't stop in Elmore, we just drove past the exit. Here is evidence that Ohio loves Larry Moore so much that they named a town after him!!!

Good afternoon. I hiked a different mountain this morning. It was a glorious morning. Cool (under 90 F), and humid. The mountain got some rain last night.
-
Yesterday I went to International at the park/lake.
Congratulations to DR Jennifer's niece!
-
I need to go get a couple more of the Little House books for Wae-Ling. She was reading the series while we were driving to our hiking locations. She is back in school now, so I don't know when she'd get much chance to read them.

I figured it out for a Mac. I download to my desktop artwork I want, usually from Google Images, Amazon or eBay.
1. Rightclick on song and a screen will pop up; go to "Get Info."
2. At top of "Get Info" click on Artwork
3. Click on "Add" button and add artwork from desktop.
Thanks, DR George!

Congrats to your niece, Jennifer!
Thanks.

DR Jennifer congratulations to your niece for winning the exciting race!!!
Thanks DRs Jane and TCB.
It's funny but we always prepare her that she might lose (when she is competing against equal or better girls). Her two best races were against her two biggest competitors (girls who could have beaten her). She seems to thrive on these situations.
Actually her time going to go in the records as the 8th fastest time by an 8 year old girl in 25m front crawl in the sectionals or finals for ALPS (the 20+ group of pools that swim in Montreal).

Monday evening greetings! My sister and I have had a full day visiting ancestors' graves and doing other family history research. I took her for a birthday lunch to Moonlight BBQ. Yes, DR John G, I tried the mutton. Didn't care for it, but there were lots of other things on the buffet that I did like. The cole slaw was my favorite side.

Happiest of birthdays to DR jhvw!

Thanks for the vibes everyone. It's a long process. I'm feeling good about it. Life will be different. For example, they are formulating rules for judges using social media. The new proposed rule is if you identify yourself as a judge you have to add a disclaimer to whatever you say that you are expressing your own opinion and not the opinion of the judiciary or something like that.

I'm sure there was a day here somewhere, but I wouldn't know what it was. I did have a meatless Cobb salad, printed out some orders (moving very slowly, like Wallander did at the beginning, but that title has turned into one of our steadiest and best sellers), picked up some packages, and, most importantly, got an hour-long foot rub right here in the home environment. That was exquisitely exquisite, I must say. But I'm so overtired right now I can't even see straight.

That is very clever. I wonder how tasty the well cooked colored parts are. I also suspect the average person won't be able to decorate the outside as perfectly. If I were still baking fancy cakes I would possible go for a swirled looks that is easier to do.

. For a moment there I thought I was reading a script from the BBC show Vicious

Good afternoon. I hiked a different mountain this morning. It was a glorious morning. Cool (under 90 F), and humid. The mountain got some rain last night.
. Love the new quote!

Ah, well. I'm you found something you liked. The next time I head home, I'm going there.

And more vibes, Cillaliz.

Too much effort and I'm too old.
I myself am inclined toward the "dump cake" recipes: dump all the ingredients into one pan, stir, and bake. :)
Dump cakes -- the bane of the existence of a food writer. Where is the fun in describing how to make that?
-
Follow up appointment to see doctor about my knee and shoulder.
Wednesday the results from the biopsy.
I want to go back to work.
Vibes for the best results.

Did anyone address the TOD?
Well, here goes: Winken, Blinken and Nod.

Depends what the ingredients are that you dump in

There's a local art/music/restaurant that is about to go under. The food is bad the place has too much art, it's very cluttered, and the music space isn't the greatest . Neat room, just not set up well. Anyway one of the owners' daughters applied to restaurant impossible and they have made it through 4 of the 6 levels of the process to be accepted. Am very curious to see if they are accepted. I would love to meet Robert Irvine. I love him

Irvine came to San Antonio to help a Cajun restaurant that I really liked. It helped them for a couple of years, but the place eventually closed because the owners just weren't the businesspeople they needed to be. I didn't hear about the taping until after it was done, but they spoke well of Irvine. So did Luca the other day.

ChasSmith, I got your letter today. Now if I could only get the books I ordered.
-
There is also an Elmore Minnesota
Probably even older than the other one.
-
Finished with my viewing - couldn't even doze off on the couch. Yikes.
-
There will be a major rant in the notes based on what I watched this evening. Be afraid, be very afraid.

He seems to have a really big heart and even if the restaurants don't turn around, he gives them a good shot at it and he seems to really be sincere about it.

Too much effort and I'm too old.
I'll just make a white cake and use my Magic Markers!

I shiver with anticipation.

Did anyone address the TOD?
I did, briefly, on Page 1.
-
But the dearth of TOD posts has not hindered us from reaching the august heights of Page 8.

A lull.
-
Well, I could keep on posting weird photos from the Internet.
-
Page eight? Really?
-
But I'll spare you all.
-
I'll just sit here and wait breathlessly for the rant.

;D

Ann Hampton Callaway is bringing her Streisand tribute program to the Twin Cities this coming February.
I will be there.
-
Or I will be square.
-
But I'll be the one wearing the gardenia.
-
Can't sleep. But shall soon try again.
-
My lame attempt at a frenzy has probably sent plenty of others to sleep.

Here are my therapists at last Friday's farewell party for Morgan: Lisa, Morgan, Bart, Gurjeet, Luis and Jennifer. What a fantastic group of saints!
