I've had no actual failures logging in or posting, but the site's been notably sluggish for the past week or so. Pages can take a long time to load, in a jerky slow motion. Posts, likewise, will hang before finally going through. It's something that started being noticeable at some point several days ago, and it's stuck around since.

I like the movie....although - like SAVING MR BANKS - it's got some fictional moments....but I like all of the actors and the story. It's probably my favorite Ralph Fienes performance.

I then went to YouTube and watched the entire 21 episode that had Van Doren defeating Stempel......sort of recreated in the movie. Stempel DID "miss" an answer by saying "On the Waterfront" instead of "Marty" - but that did not end the game. He answered another question. The game ended when - by the rules - Van Doren (not knowing Stempel's score) chose to end the game when Van Doren was at 18 points and Stempel was at 10 points.

If he had ended the game, and Stempel was ahead, Van Doren himself would have lost.....

LOL, DR Jane! We didn't buy all that yesterday, just what's in the orange shopping bags. The other items are the purses and travel bags we'd used for our trip.

All I bought yesterday were some stationery items, mostly to donate to AAUW's holiday bazaar.

Felt much less queasy, thankfully, but was up until four-thirty, then slept until nine, so total of about seven hours. Then on to Teddy who coifed me and now I'm home. I think I can chance some poached eggs right now.

There was an accident on the Henry Hudson Parkway in the 60s and it backed up traffic for miles. We got slowed up in the 160s and barely moved for 45 minutes. We passed the damaged vehicle and the truck. It looks like the car hit the truck from behind. We didn't see any ambulances or injured people at that point so I assume they were whisked away. The car looked pretty badly damaged.

Staying in the Holiday Inn Express was nice (pools in every one) but it's nice to be home (though I have to go back to work on Monday the 25th).

Part of me doesn't really want to go because of the expense (when I had credit cards it didn't seem so bad...it was like it was all free! LOL! But now that I have to actually use cash money that I have saved...well...) and because the line-up so far for the celebrity event is not that great...Piper Laurie, Kathryn Helmond, Chris Noel, Dolly Read, Andrew Stevens, Jimmie Rodgers...them I would enjoy meeting, but most of the rest are soap performers and/or straight-to-video slasher/horror film types that I have never heard of.

I should have known it right away when he started trolling in every one of our threads till David Sones told him he'd be banned if he didn't stop. But that never stopped him from always referencing us in just about every post. Sometimes I just want to think better of people, but now that it's been pointed out of course it makes complete sense. I bought him a book that I think (hope) he'll like, and doesn't already have. I just can't stay too long, though. Tomorrow, my parents leave for Spokane for a wedding of a kid (probably my age or so) of one of their friends from when we lived in Germany, more than 40 years ago. They've kept in contact all this time. :)

We are back in New York City. We had easy and safe travel until we got off the GW Bridge. There was an accident on the Henry Hudson Parkway in the 60s and it backed up traffic for miles. For my dad's birthday, I bought him "The Most Dangerous Book: The Battle for James Joyce’s Ulysses (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1594203369/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)." He didn't have it and he hadn't heard about, but was very excited to get and read it. He said that he's never been able to slog through Joyce's original book, so maybe this will help him. :)

We only had about six or seven people for our $5 preview (and four of them were directors ::) ), but they all enjoyed it very much. The music and pictures and movie went off without a hitch.
