Well, you've read the notes, the notes were NSFW, and now it is time for you to post until the NSFW cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TINTINNABULAR!
-
And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to former dear readers Joy and MattH.
-
Very Happy Birthdays to former DRs Joy and Matt H., and even Sigerson Holmes!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
I'm up a little early today because the a/c and heating system are expecting a gentleman caller. One of the blade damper mechanisms (the vent thingies that control the flow of forced air through the ducts going to the first and second floors) needs replacing after twenty years. It's kind of been one thing after another with all of that lately, so let's all hope this is indeed the last thing for a while, and that it will be safe for work.
Coffee!
-
It's wonderful to hear how well the recording sessions have been proceeding.
And jealous-making to hear how well the Smoke House cheeseburger and Astroburger plans are proceeding.
Ah well, such is life.
-
I thought it stood for "Never See Free Willy."

TOD:
bk, I always love reading about the details of your recording sessions. Do you take notes on each vocal take, so that when you go to comp all the versions into the final master track, you save some time by having a good idea in advance of which elements you want to select from which takes?
-
Whew - that one took over a minute to post.
-
Happy birthday to Joy
-
Happy birthday to Matt H

Happy Birthday to former DR MattH!

This wisteria bush certainly looks luscious enough to eat:

No Stew for Wednesday.
-
Good morning, all! I slept late/
I have nothing to report, as I recall.
-
And the word of the day is: TINTINNABULAR!
And The Song Of The Day Is: RING THEM BELLS
-
As I have no rehearsal this evening, I'm going to take advantage of my AMC/Loews manager friend's largesse and see GHOSTBUSTERS, on a real screen and hopefully with a real audience, for free.

Yesterday DR Jrand wrote:
So far I don't like any of the teams lined up for TAR.....but maybe they were all a bit over the top in the videos on the site....and I certainly don't like the crossovers from Survivor again.
Are you saying that there is a team from Survivor on TAR? If so which team?
I did see that there is a team from TAR on Survivor (the annoying twinies).
Btw, how can you know which teams you'll like before you see them on tv? I suppose one could have a vague idea based on the list or videos. But I can't imagine really knowing how any team will play or act before watching them. I personally like competitors. So if a team isn't competitive, even if they are likable, I am likely not to root for them.
-
I did not know there was an AMAZING RACE Canadian version! That would certainly be fun to watch.
-
Yes, DR JRand, the BB contestants likely have no clue. They are very often not the brightest of bulbs.
-
I did not know there was an AMAZING RACE Canadian version! That would certainly be fun to watch.
It is the second season. For the first season they stayed only in Canada (which i didn't love since it's supposed to be a race around the world). For the second season they did 50-50. But the places they visited were somehow relevant to Canada. They went to china, paris, normandy france. It's been pretty cool. We also have one team that are Olympic gold medalists (in hockey) for Canada.
-
The Survivors on TAR are Keith and Whitney.
You can read about the teams here:
http://www.cbs.com/shows/amazing_race/cast/
-
Thanks, TCB, for your birthday greeting. The "thought" is much appreciated.
-
Back at work!
Tra-la...tra-freaking-la!
-
Today should be quite busy. And not tedious, at all.
Tomorrow...well, tomorrow is a day I "hope" to remember fondly. I note that tomorrow seems to be blocked out for a birthday luncheon for moi at one of my favorite eating establishments!

And probably much more palatable than hemlock or oleander.

Ditto!
-
Page Deux!
-
Today, I am 66 years and one day old. I am now Social Security-eligible.
-
Birthdays.....
-
Birthdays.....
Maybe I should change my online name to RPull66.
-
Although I have watched every season of SURVIVOR, I cannot for the life of me remember either Keith or Whitney. Evidently, I did not find either one to be memorable.
Perhaps they will make a different impression on me during THE AMAZING RACE.
-
Hmmm...yesterday I mentioned James and Jaymes as being on BIG BROTHER...my error, they were on THE AMAZING RACE.
I can't seem to keep track of who is who in the world of competition programs.
Maybe that is a good thing 8)
-
DR RPull66 is easier to type out.
-
Good morning, all.
Happy birthday, MattH.
-
TOD:
Have any of these songs surprised you, either by the way they were arranged or by Sandy's performance of them?
-
DR RPull66 is easier to type out.
Makes me think of Route 66.
-
The Survivors on TAR are Keith and Whitney.
You can read about the teams here:
http://www.cbs.com/shows/amazing_race/cast/
I don't mind when they have cross-over contestants. But I am surprised that they would have two quite unmemorable people. Usually they have people that everyone knows like Rachel and Brendon.

i just basically wrote the same thing. I really don't remember either one and I too have watched every single episode.

And I am home from the Cole Porter trust. I had a great time with my friend Roberta, I picked up the missing page from my score to JUBILEE, and we had a lovely lunch in the executive dining room.
So far, a good day . . .

I take general notes about each take. Then we have one session later when I then listen to each take marking down exactly what I want for each line of the lyric - I have a vocal comp sheet for that. Then we put it together, and I do further finessing from there.
-
I'm up, I'm up - i think I got eight hours of sleep - I slept ninety minutes, then was up for ninety minutes, then fell back asleep.
-
Page two? Really?
-
Mercredi evening greetings! After sleeping around the clock, I got up this morning very refreshed and ready for what turned out to be a lovely day. Richard and I had already decided to skip the scheduled bus tour, because it was going to drive by places we'd visited in depth 3 years ago. Our new friends Bill and Marilyn joined us to go to Musee de l'Orangerie to see Monet's water lilies and assorted works of Renoir, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, and others. On the way to the museum we rode the Tuileries carousel:
-
Richard and I had a delightful lunch at the outdoor cafe in Jardin Des Tuileries and then joined our entire group for the afternoon excursion to Montmartre, which was fabulous but quite strenuous. Lovely dinner in the hotel courtyard and we're in for the night getting ready for tomorrow's train trip to Lyon. We'll board our boat there to sail the Rhone for 5 days.
-
What a lovely trip you are having DR GINNY!
I love the photos!!! It's like you are taking all of us with you.
-
Guess I'll walk over to the bank and do some banking.
-
Tonight we are using microphones....so it should be interesting.
-
I wanna go to Paris.
-
Nice picture, Ginny!
-
So far, a good day . . .
You're turning that frown upside-down! :)
-
It truly is a pleasure being vicariously in DR Ginny's suitcase! :)
-
Dying for a cheeseburger now.
-
In other news, I was in Costco this afternoon, and guess what I finally remembered!
DR George will guess it.
I bought another pair of the pillows, which are still on sale up near the front of the store.
-
From DR Jennifer:
What do they do if you are at your limit? Do you just go next in the queue?
The limit is 6 books in the queue and the book dropped in made it 7 books in the queue :) There is a footnote that the book will be available to check out on the 9th.
-
From DR Jrand:
AH DR JANE....I did not mean to imply that the creators and producers of BIG BROTHER were unaware....I was thinking about the contestants......
;D
-
From DR Vixmom:
oh I know, I am looking for a retirement more like Jane's or Ginny's but I suspect I will be spending my golden years saying "Welcome to Walmart"
I expect with all the volunteer work you do your retirement will be more like DR Ginny's. I seem to have retired from volunteer work. Maybe when we leave Paradise I will do something again.
-
DR MattH, who is missed,
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fwmfWEAEV_0/TiEXYLNr7-I/AAAAAAAAA3M/rx0ws1UCuBE/s1600/IMG_5620.JPG)
-
DR Ginny I think you made the right choice of activities for the day :)

DR MattH, who is missed,
Yes, a very happy birthday to former DR MattH, who was apparently here before my time but who(m) I know to be a very serious movie and Blu-ray reviewer on the HTF.

And the pendulum begins to swing. Encores! just called to know of my interest in comparing and reporting on the Paint Your Wagon full scores, the rental orchestra parts, changes in orchestration and other ephemera. Am I interested?
-
Whoa!!! :)

Well...are you??

Well, it's the only job offer on the table and it's the first job offer in four months. There are two other possibilities in the works but neither is confirmed, so this is the most solid offer I've had in some time. On top of that, I love Paint Your Wagon and it's something I'd do for the fun of it. It's only an inquiry, though.
-
That's great, Elmore.
-
Having a 50/50/50 burger. It's Angus, bacon and pulled pork ground into one happy patty.

I second that!

"Paint Your Wagon" VIBES for DR elmore!
-
Back from a little meeting. Still dealing with people who do not know what they are doing but since we're announcing the CD on Monday (And the World Goes Round) everything from that point on will be painless because the album will be out and whatever I do or don't do subsequent to that is my business.
-
Why do people have to be jerks?
If you see someone without a clew, give them one of yours.
-
DR elmore3003, I am thrilled that you have some irons in the fire.
-
You can fix their wagon.
So to speak.
-
I've been researching dollhouses. DR Ben, these are not Anthony's houses. They are for 5 year old Eleanor who is about to be a big sister. What I have learned is that they come in a box and are a pain to assemble. I can't find a store that will do it for you, not that I could find a style I wanted in a store in Portland.
I sent a list of houses to Eleanor's mother and will let her decide if and which one they want.
-
Thank you, all, for the good wishes! If any of the three things currently in the air were to land, I'd be happily employed for a few weeks and the money would be nice. We'll see.
-
My copy of the Alan Jay Lerner Letters, edited by my friend Dominic McHugh, arrived today. Iwill be reading correspondence before I go to bed tonight.
-
In other news, I was in Costco this afternoon, and guess what I finally remembered!
DR George will guess it.
I bought another pair of the pillows, which are still on sale up near the front of the store.
I went to Costco last week and they didn't have them, so I couldn't even tell if they were what I'd want. I still haven't gone out to Kohl's. It's in Lacey, only about 10 miles away, but I have to make time to go out that way after work. We'll see about this weekend.

I would love to hear a complete recording of Paint Your Wagon
-
And now, I'm off to usher for Harlequin Productions' Something Wicked Goes Back to School (http://www.harlequinproductions.org/season/2014/improv/something_wicked.php). It'll be an evening of improv. TCB's close and personal friend Christian was in the group, but he won't be at tonight's performance. I don't know if he's still part of the group or not.
Anyway, be back later!
-
Watching the Greer Garson "Pride and Prejudice" tonight. I know, Elmore, you can't stomach it or the infernal costumes, but I enjoy the cast and the script.
-
Page three?
-
Page three at almost 6:30? Not good!!
-
It is going to be a long evening.
-
Who is missing from our little group?
-
Okay one more

I did not know there was an AMAZING RACE Canadian version! That would certainly be fun to watch.

Having a 50/50/50 burger. It's Angus, bacon and pulled pork ground into one happy patty.
. Wouldn't that be a 33.33333/33.3333/33.33334 burger?
-

They have a 50/50 burger with just Angus and bacon. This is the 50/50/50 burger. Somehow the math works.

Why do people have to be jerks?
. I believe it is a legal requirement in New York

Oh, I doubt it is free.
-
I think I'm going to turn in early. I've started "The Abominable Showman" about David Merrick and it's a fun, nasty read.
-
Page 4?? This is most unseemly.
-
Unseemly is as unseemly does.
-
Unseemly does it.
-
bk, have you seen this new box set?
http://goo.gl/z9zzoa
Vladimir Ashkenazy plays the complete Rachmaninoff works for the piano.
-
Well - new this year, anyway.
-
I am very tired.
-
And I am here alone, apparently.
-
I'm pretty sure that I can't take us to PAGE 5 all by my lonesome.
-
Well - I probably could.
-
But it sure wouldn't be pretty.
-
DRs John G. and MBarnum - I just ordered this, and am pretty excited about it. Do you hate cleaning your CPAP equipment?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzv2PGaOZF8

I am afraid I have gone about as fer as I kin go.
-
Fingers crossed for elmore's WAGON!
-
We'll first day back and I am ready to head back to Canadia

Happiest of birthdays to former DR MattH, a much missed presence here on HHW
-
And a very happy birthday to former DR Joy
-
If 33 1/3 was good enough for our music, it can be good enough for our food.
-
One more.
-
Five!!
-
Vixmom is gone!
-
Or she could be waiting for her last comment to post.
-
Happy Birthday to the gone, but not forgotten DR MattH.
-
Happy Birthday to former DR Joy!
-
Well, WIFI is flipping out again, so I guess I am out of here.
-
I was frozen snow I tried the iPad and that wouldn't let me on HHW although I could do bokface and email then tried again with laptop no joy. Just trying again with iPad
-
To clarify my last post (which did go through with no problem whatsoever). I was NOT frozen snow.
-
My post froze so I tried my iPad
-
I am sleepy though so I shall bid ye all a fond adieu
-
Adieu (Please read that in a fond tone)
-
I was NOT frozen snow.
How disappointing.
-
I was so tired I couldn't fall asleep.
-
I shall be trying again shortly, though. :P

Back from our second final vocal session - lots of fun, got all seven songs AND some tap dancing and now on to the mix.

Cool!
