Title: PRIME RIB

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were prime and had ribs, and now it is time for you to post until the prime cows come home.

Hate:  Everything about THE WIZ.   And CATS, because it has no story.
Enjoyed, even though can never be as funny as the film, or actors, from which it was conceived:  SPAMALOT.

Good morning, all! I plan to head down early to Toyland, accomplish a few things, pick up a few things and return home.

I slept very poorly, and I feel like garbage today. I do not know if I am getting sick or I'm really tired. Either way, it's one more nail in my coffin.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good, healthy Monday vibes for everyone! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday morning greetings!  Quiet week ahead in Lake Wobegon Middletown.  Richard and I each have some medical/dental appointments (routine) and we're thinking of going Friday or Saturday evening to see the local production of SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM.  Hope it doesn't qualify for last Saturday's TOD...
TOD:
I don't think that hate is the right word, but I'm really tired of the overproduced warhorses, especially the "important" Rodgers and Hammerstein shows. I know I never need to see "Sound of Music" ever again, but I'm also tired of "South Pacific," "King and I" and "Oklahoma!" And the sounds of another "My Fair Lady" or "Camelot" doesn't thrill me.
But I'm up for a revival of "Most Happy Fella," "Gypsy," "Anything Goes" (any script at all, because the script doesn't matter), "Guys and Dolls" anytime.
I love Kiss Me, Kate (well, I'll admit, most of it) and I love Soul Train. But I do not want them together. Ever.
It's like that disco version of Begin the Beguine that Johnny Mathis recorded. Or the Porter songs on Ethel's disco album.
I didn't like "Cats" either. I was soooo bored and that show's popularity mystifies me. I also don't like "Carousel". Who's crazy idea was it to write a show about a wife-beater? But I think the most boring show I've ever seen was "Flora the Red Menace".
I LOVE "Into the Woods"! Albeit it is a bloodbath, but I still loved it.
Mark doesn't like "Company" because he thinks it's a show about a bunch of really miserable people, but I love the music and the humor, so I really enjoyed that show. He's also not a big fan of "Kiss Me Kate" because he gets tired of all the Shakespeare dialog, but I always liked that show, even though it's pretty sexist.
Monday.....
This week, I don't have much to do....SO I am not doing much.
Sad to read about that particular production of KISS ME KATE.  I like the show, have seen some good productions of it - and been in a couple....but this one sounds wrong from the go....
Musicals I don't like:
MY FAIR LADY
CAROUSEL
CATS
SEUSSICAL or however it's spelled
SHREK
THE LION KING - and all the other Disney cartoon based crap
1776
Shows I like that may not be so popular:
AIDA - Elton John, Tim Rice
PARADE
There are shows that I am sure will be posted here that I will add to my lists.
I hear ya -- saw AIDA with Heather Headley and Adam Pascal three times.  Still got choked up at the ending, as I blubbered my way out the door!  Will always be an Elton John fan -- since the early 1970's!
And PARADE -- I missed seeing it with Brent Carver, but saw it many years later with T.R. Knight (from Grey's Anatomy) in Los Angeles.  When the show ended -- I'm like what??  I hated how you never knew if he was guilty or innocent!
We are a bit on edge today. We picked up DD Zach yesterday from the place where he had been boarded over the weekend, and he seemed OK. But he would not eat his dinner, and then he started throwing up all night. This lasted until this morning. He has been at the vet under observation all day. He apparently is doing a bit better. But he is 14, and for a larger dog, that is on borrowed time.
I have very few complaints with my HMO, but i must say, these jokers in the referral dept. have no idea what the fat hell they are doing. I asked for a renewal of physical therapy on Sept. 9. No word.
    1. So, I called last Wednesday, the 17th, and was told nothing had been done yet.
    2. No referral arrived in the post, so I called this morning, spoke to a lady who told me she had a referral for me, dated Sept. 9, but there was no physical therapy company on the referral so I would have to find one and set up an appointment when i got my copy in the post. I was so pissed that I hug up.
    3. This afternoon, when i got home, I called again, there was a referral t my physical therapy office dayed Sept. 19 and it was all set to go. The person I spoke to faxed the referral t the office and i now have an appintment on Wednesday morning.
Vibes for DD Zach. Hopefully it is just nerves from being away from his loved ones.
My DDD (Dear Departed Dog) Bosco would do that. I think it was since he couldn't cry, vomiting was the next best thing.
Hate:  Everything about THE WIZ.   And CATS, because it has no story.
Enjoyed, even though can never be as funny as the film, or actors, from which it was conceived:  SPAMALOT.
I don't "hate" them, but I'm not a big fan of CATS or THE WIZ for like reasons.
I love SPAMALOT.  Also RAGTIME.
Wish they would make both into movies.
Isn't the movie version of Spamalot called "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" and the movie version of Ragtime called "Ragtime"?  :) ;) :D ;D 8) :o :P :P
My choice would be Cats.
If I wasn't reviewing it for the radio station I was working for at the time I would have left at intermission. I remember meeting a fellow critic and he asked me if the brief version of Memory at the end of act one was the whole song. I told him no that the longer version was still to come. He said Sh*t! You mean I have to come back for act two"?
I've never see the show and as far as I know it has never been a success in any of its carnations but I enjoy Schmidt & Jones Colette Collage. Thanks to the album that BK produced and great group of singers including Judy Kaye. I have listened to it many many times since its release.
TOD:
I don't think that hate is the right word, but I'm really tired of the overproduced warhorses, especially the "important" Rodgers and Hammerstein shows. I know I never need to see "Sound of Music" ever again, but I'm also tired of "South Pacific," "King and I" and "Oklahoma!" And the sounds of another "My Fair Lady" or "Camelot" doesn't thrill me.
But I'm up for a revival of "Most Happy Fella," "Gypsy," "Anything Goes" (any script at all, because the script doesn't matter), "Guys and Dolls" anytime.
Another GYPSY revival??  Spare me.
I hated Cats the first time I saw it  - could not understand the appeal at all  but it was shown on PBS and my parents (who loved it)  taped it and  the little Vixter fell in love with it...
 I learned the show would be closing and managed to snag 3  orchestra seats for her  7th birthday --- way down in the orchestra they had the seats set up in little wedges
We were  only 4 rows from the stage  but there were only our three seats in our row, with aisles on either side of us and behind us -- we put the Vixter in one of the end seats  and she was delighted as the cats kept wandering off stage and nosing around
because of that experience I now have fond memories of CATS
I just watched the first episode of the new show "Scorpion."  It's supposedly based on (or "inspired by") a real person, who is a genius.  He actually hacked into the NASA computer when he was 13.  This episode showed that as a flashback while he and his three genius cohorts try to fix the computers that control planes that fly over Los Angeles.
THIS (http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/09/22/scorpion-series-premiere-react/) article outlines the plot (and plot holes) and explains the characters.  I checked my mind at the door and just went along for the ride.
