Title: FINGERNAILS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like fingernails on a blackboard, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - their currently trimming their fingernails and they look quite MOOvelous.

Yesterday, a coworker of mine asked if she could borrow my copies of the OBCs of The Rink and Woman of the Year, both by Kander and Ebb.  I looked in my garage and found them very easily, and I also found the London cast recording of The Rink.  I'd forgotten that that original TER release was a numbered, limited edition, #573 of 2500!

Also, I'd forgotten that Woman of the Year was the Bay Cities release, which one can now get (new) on Amazon for as little as $159.39, or used for only $45.67 in "acceptable" condition!

Today is my last day off before being thrust back into show mode tomorrow through Sunday.  It's not exactly a day of leisure, however.  There's much that must be accomplished.  And so it goes.

Good morning, all! I slept well, and I remember that in my last dream I was working on something that had Emma Thompson and Danny Burstein in the cast, and I was trying to convince Ms Thompson to play the Queen in JUBILEE in London. Then I woke up.

She'd be good, and my first choice if i could record the show.

DR ChasSmith, how do you feel today? My muscles feel much better than they did at 6:00 last night, and I look forward to getting back to physical therapy today.

I found the missing ball bearing about 4:00 yesterday afternoon! I had to pull the 2nd cabinet out for a second to fix the wall plug, and there it was!

Incredible!  Hopefully you'll never need it, and it can stay put away with the others for all time!  But isn't it amazing how things are just suddenly found like that?  I can't tell you how many times that's happened to me.  It's somehow comforting to find that a lost object didn't, in fact, change into some other form of energy...

Ask BK Day:

Why do some DVDs have sound issues. For instance, I have watched DVDs where the music was so much louder than the rest of the film, making me have to constantly turn the volume up and down.

Or...DVDs where you have to turn the volume waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up in order to hear anything.

This happens with both new and old movies.

Has to do with bad mastering (or authoring).  It happens today with Blu-rays, too.

ASK BK

Is this the first time your songs have been arranged and orchestrated for a large orchestra?

No, there's Larry's chart for What Do I Do Now? on Shakespeare on Broadway, Mort Lindsay did Was It Really All That Thrilling? from Start at the Top, David Siegel did Chinese Food in Bed (although that's a smaller group) and there's the Nudie Soundtrack (about twenty-five pieces) and the songs from The Creature Wasn't Nice is a forty piece band.  Also, Lanny did an amazing chart for a song I wrote for a cable movie called The Execution of Frank Musso.  But, yes, it's an amazing thing for me to hear all fifteen of these songs with the big band, as 90% of them have not ever sounded like this.  That said, even The Lights and the Smiles sounds so different in Lanny's version - it's just fantastic.

Jane, glad you're enjoying David Liss. As you know, I have high regard for his work. A CONSPIRACY OF PAPER is a very hard act to follow. I've recommended it many times, telling people that they needn't be interested in the stock market or Jewish history to enjoy the story. I think you confirmed that. But, for me, those two elements greatly added to my interest.

I feel pretty good today, DR Elmore.  I think there might have been a file cabinet somewhere in my dreams, but the jury is still out on that.

I found the missing ball bearing about 4:00 yesterday afternoon! I had to pull the 2nd cabinet out for a second to fix the wall plug, and there it was!

It's somehow comforting to find that a lost object didn't, in fact, change into some other form of energy...

Does our DR Chas have talents he hasn't told us about? Perhaps that is too personal. Or too alchemical. Or too Scientific American.

Well, I am interested in Jewish history.  And I know a bit about the stock market because of Keith ;)

I think they are very well written books and I like the main characters in each story.

Thank you, all, for the vibes and good wishes!  I'm really tired of feeling poorly and being poor.

Jane, my brothers believed in 2007 they would get $1,000,000 for my dad's property since it was next to the new hospital. My attitude was that, whether we got that or we made $300,000 on the deal, it was found money. The 2008 recession meant we would not get the million, and since then they've continued to price it too high because the Macbeths are greedy asses.  They did nothing for three years to sell it and resented my talking to a realtor about handling the property. So, if it sells before I die, I will get a nice retirement bundle that would not be as high as it could have been, but if we had sold it in 2007, I would have probably lost half of my third in the 2008 crash.

At this point, if we sold the property for $3,000, it would give me more than I have at present and I am sick of living hand to mouth.

And now, <drum roll, please> the BURNING QUESTION:

DR George, did you find a pillow you like?

Yes...for the most part.  Did you see what I wrote about what I found?:

Quote
After I left my parents' house, I went to the Costco by their house to see if they had either kitty treats or Barbra's "Partners" album.  They had neither.  I went to the Lacey Target store and I bought the special edition CD from there.*  The Lacey Target is right next to Kohl's so I decided (remembered, actually) to see if they had any pillows that I might like.

As I was walking from Target to Kohl's, I saw my mom and her friend Mona walking out of Kohl's.  What a coinkydink!  She asked what I was doing there and I told her I was going to look at pillows.

It turned out that she had a reusable 30% off coupon, but she had to pay for whatever it was used for.  So, I quickly went upstairs to the pillow section and found something that I hope will like.

I actually got two because they were having a 50% off sale (buy-one-get-one-free)!  AND the coupon was another 30% off that.  So, instead of paying $140, the two pillows only cost me $51 and change!  I saved about $91! **

I bought two because if I like one (I only need one at a time), then I'll have another one when the first one gets too old.  If I don't really like it, I can still take back one because I won't have used it at all.  I have to let the one I do try air out before I use it, so I probably won't try to sleep on it until the weekend when I don't have to get up early if I can't get to sleep easily.

I slept on it for two nights and even though it raises my head a little higher than the pillow that I now have (and love), it's a pretty good replacement.  It doesn't support when I want to prop myself up and watch TV in bed (it squishes down much more than my current pillow), but I can live with that.  However, it'll be a while before I finally get rid of the pillow that I have.

*I totally forgot that I had a $5 Target gift card.  I hate it when that happens.

**My math wasn't quite right.  I was told by the sales person that I saved $91 (and I didn't see the actual receipt), but it turns out that this was before taxes.  I actually owe my mom about $53 for the two.  Still a pretty darned good deal!

Squirrels can be used in a number of tasty stews. In Kentucky, it's one of the traditional meats in burgoo, though lately lamb, chicken and beef are used more so these days.

I want to say I'd be more pleased if it was me, but truth be told, I think I'd be happy for a few years and then would hate being told where to go and what to do and not being able to go to political functions.   I don't like any politicians right now, but it is kind of fun leading up to the caucuses to go see them all in person.  I couldn't do that.   SO, I think it came out the way it was supposed to.   I'm feeling good about it
