Well, you've read the notes, the notes were of enormous magnitude, and now it is time for you to post until the enormous cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HEMPY!

~~~Excellent Vibes and Xylophones that BK's Voice is in Good Shape for Sunday's Show!!~~~
~ ~ ~ CONTINUED GOLDEN THROAT VIBES ~ ~ ~ for bk!!!
-
I dreamed last night that I presented bk with a very rare book.
Only it was a coloring book.
:-\
-
The predicted snow did not ultimately materialize last evening.
And for that I am thankful.
-
Good morning, all!
I dreamed about Mary Rodgers and a painting hanging crookedly in her apartment. Then I dreamed it was July Fourth and my physical therapist Jen and I were looking for a really good rooftop location to watch the fireworks.
This morning, I am meeting our DR KevinH at his hotel before I run down to Toyland to print out some scores, grab a few books, and head back uptown. I need to finish the PAINT YOUR WAGON work for Josh so I can hand it in on Monday and get the next round of scores.
-
Good morning, all.
Golden throat vibes for BK. Vibes for all else in need.
-
Crazy day ahead. Ushering for the non-equity tour of Nice Work if You Can Get It.
Then dancing and hours of dancing.
-
This evening I will be attending my first live Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion."
-
I hope you'll get to see the show, DR John G.
I don't know if it is the same tour, but I'll be seeing that show in a few weeks when it comes through here.
-
It will be difficult to get around here by car today and tomorrow. Many road closures. There's a 5K and 10K race today, and a full marathon tomorrow.
It seems my application for a spot got lost in the mail. :)
THE INNOCENTS is perhaps the greatest of all haunted house movies.
I saw it when it first came out and it scared the **** out of me.
Although the show is considered to be a flop, I really like the songs from MACK AND MABEL.
Good morning, all.
I see the forecasts for a chilly, dark and rainy day have come true. I'll let it go today, but I hope such days are kept to a minimum during the glorious month of October. The last couple of days were incredibly gorgeous.
-
I'll let it go today
You and Idina Menzel! :)
Saturday....I also got my hairs cut for the wedding next week....and my sister's new jewelry arrived in the mail today....so we are set!
TOD:
The title tunes
Hello, Dolly! and Mame......
Really ANYTHING except Ribbons Down My Back.....which is so dumb and written for a type of singing voice that sets my teeth on edge....stops the show cold for no reason....who the hell cares....except the broad singing it......
ChasSmith, expect a package on Friday.
Saturday morning greetings! It's cold, wet, and blustery here in SW Ohio - very fall-like.
And my back still hurts...
ChasSmith, expect a package on Friday.
Thank you, sir!
I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
That happens to me every year. I just stay home. We have to cancel church because no one can get into the parking lot.
From DR Singdaw:
Back from beautiful Kol Nidre services. The cellist that played the Bruch "Kol Nidre" was excellent, as was the cantor and professional choir.
I would like to have gone to your service.
Thanks, DR Singdaw - I've decided to rejoin the human race. My back won't hurt any worse out in the world than it does here at home, so we're off to a program at the public library and to do some errands.
Bye for now!
DR Ginny Vibes you don't feel worse from your adventure!!!
Back from a two-mile jog and shall now do errands and whatnot.
Greetings from Toyland! I had a 3-hour breakfast with DR KevinH and one of his visiting friends. It was quite delightful.
Then i walked to 34th and Seventh and caught a bus here. Traffic is once again screwed up in midtown, partly because of rain, partly because of a parade, I hear, and partly because our previous Mayor Bloomberg continued to screw up traffic after Giuliani, and it's a mess getting around.
I've finished my printing and i will shortly head home.
-
Three-hour breakfast!!
Three-hour breakfast!!
And visit.
-
Back from various and sundried things and am relaxing until rehearsal.
-
Ah.....someone likes "that song."
-
And it's time to head home. I will check in from there.
-
This evening I will be attending my first live Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion."
This came to Olympia last year (or maybe earlier this year), but I wasn't able to usher for it. :(
I dreamed last night that I presented bk with a very rare book.
Maybe it's an "And the World Goes Round" reference?
;)
The From Here to Eternity broadcast that some DRs recently saw in the theater will be released to Blu-Ray in November.
I am sure that DR vixmom will be first in line to purchase a copy. :)
I'm going to buy it. It's not so much that I loved the show (I really didn't), but I feel that I want to support (almost) ANY preservation of live theater that is made available for purchase. I liked it (on a certain level ;) ) and really want more theatrical productions filmed and put on DVD/Blu-ray.
-
Hello, everyone.
The weather here is cooling down just a bit, but is expected to be hot--over 80--ALL of next week. Ugh! Even people who like warm weather are complaining.
-
I, too, liked THE INNOCENTS.
Glad to see that Elmore's elevator is again operational. The world is a very unfriendly place for those who are not fully ambulatory.
Topic of the Day (just a few of MANY):
The Best of Times
I Don't Want to Know
If He Walked Into My Life
It's Today/Show Tune
Look What Happened To Mabel
Put on Your Sunday Clothes
Song on the Sand
Time Heals Everything
Two a Day
-
And now, I'm off. I'm going to work for a couple of hours, then I have a paper-tech rehearsal for "The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) [revised]."
-
On Thursday I had an exercise echocardiogram. I'd had an exercise EKG, ie, a treadmill stress test, several years ago, but this one includes ultrasound images of the heart. I won't have the full results until late next week, but there were no problems during the test itself, which is certainly a good sign.
-
I'm (again) running the sound board and will have to help set up the sound board program. Someone else compiled all the sound files, but doesn't know the program very well. I used it for the last show, so I'm a little more familiar with it...but not by much.
-
After that, a friend and I are going out to dinner.
Be back later!
-
But before I go...
-
3hree!
-
Bye!
-
And I am home. Perhaps it's the Yom Kippur holiday, but the bus was quite empty. The traffic was dreadful, but the trip was speedy and uneventful. It's been a long day of walking, but i am happy to be home and find a CD of AND THE WORLD GOES ROUND.
-
I liked it (on a certain level ;) )
I'm wracking my brain.
What could that certain level be??
~ ~ ~ ULTRA MEDICAL TEST RESULTS VIBES ~ ~ ~ for DR Jeanne!!!!
Thank you, Sing. If I pass this test I'll be relieved. It won't rule out all possibilities, but I think it'll cover the worst ones. (I think.)
Guess I'd better shave and shower.
-
How's the morning sickness, Sing?
I sold my beloved old Volvo this week. Once I purchased the Audi I had to park the Volvo on the street. (Audi gets my assigned parking spot.) Street parking is very limited in my 'hood. In the two months that I parked on the street the car was vandalized TWICE, amounting to roughly $1000 damage. I moved the car to a friend's house in Culver City--safer, but not exactly convenient, as I had to move it from one side of the street to the other two days a week. My poor Volvo had become a real liability.
I know a mechanic who buys old Volvos, fixes them up, and then sells them. He only works on Volvos. I didn't really think he'd want my car, because it needs some body work, but when I approached him he was immediately interested. My old car will soon have a new life--and it deserves it. I'm very pleased with this outcome and VERY relieved that I don't have to keep moving the car.
Must take care of more things here.
It sounds like the news will be good, but just in case.....
GOOD NEWS VIBES!!!
-
DR Jeanne, it's disheartening to hear about all the vandalizing going on. You live in or near Culver City, right? I'm not asking for specifics, but what general area are you in? I lived on Mentone Ave. in Palms, just north of Venice Blvd.), for a couple of years, and never had the slightest inkling of any problems there. Then again, that was -- OMG -- over 30 years ago ........
-
Off to the show.
-
DR Jeanne congratulations on selling your Volvo!!!!
-
I did more cleaning, then took a Taco Walk. It's HOT out there! Thankfully, it's just around the corner.
Thank you, Jane. I think the news will be good, but I want to hear it from the cardiologist.
Chas, I'm living in the Sawtelle area. I never knew of this area to have problems--in fact, I'd expect less crime than usual because of the extensive Japanese population. But there is certainly vandalism.
I scoured the Palms area for an apartment a few years ago. It is now a VERY high-density area. Next to impossible to find parking on the street. In my view, density is a big part of the problem--more noise, less parking, more conflicts. Some of the newer buildings may be quiet due to additional insulation, but I suspect you'd not be as happy there now.
I agree with you: it is indeed disheartening. I mourn the loss of open space. I suspect everyone needs it and all this overcrowding just isn't healthy. At least most of us have AC now. People stay indoors, windows closed, in hot weather. It's quieter and less stressful.
-
Ginny, I hope your back pain resolves quickly. A hot bath in epsom salts is often helpful. I find back stretches very effective for staying limber and, hopefully, to avoid strains.
-
Singdaw, "Nice Work" was fun. I really enjoyed the band, and the music was far and away the best part. The cast was fine, the book was lousy and the dancing was both good and bad, thanks to some erratic choreography from Kathleen Marshall.
I actually enjoyed this production better than a bootleg I saw of the original Broadway cast.
-
Saturday Greetings to Dear Readers! Hope everyone is enjoying this fine day! :D
Congrats on selling the car! A friend had her Volvo for nearly 15 years -- never caused her any problem. With more Grandchildren --- she had to sell, not enough room!
Vandalized twice, how scary. I guess I take it for granted that I can park my car in the garage. May you enjoy the Audi :D
-
DR Jeanne thank you for the reminder to do some stretches for my hip.
-
Good car news from DR JEANNE.....I am sure your Volvo will find a nice home.
DR SINGDAW is going to be dripping with culture when he gets home.
We just got our first good review from Max Preeo on the Cast recording List:
Tuesday, October 7, New World Records releases the splendid new two-CD
studio recording of Jerome Kern and Otto Harbach's ROBERTA, reconstructed by
Larry Moore, providing a revelation of how its creators integrated the music
and book. It is presented as a "radio play," with dialogue (lengthier
sections are indexed so they can be skipped) that gives a complete
understanding of how the show worked on its opening night in 1933. Of
course all the now-familiar songs, such as "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,"
"You're Devastating," "Let's Begin," "I'll Be Hard to Handle," "Something
Had to Happen" and more are here, as well as previously unrecorded reprises,
"Hot Spot" and "Clemintina," dance music and underscore. An appendix has
the cut "Armful of Trouble" and "I Won't Dance" and "Lovely to Look At," as
sung in the 1935 film version, with a lovely uninterrupted "Smoke Gets in
Your Eyes." Everything is well sung/performed by a cast including Annalene
Beechey, Patrick Cummings, Jason Graae, Kim Criswell, and Diana Montague,
with Rob Berman lading the Orchestra of Ireland through Robert Russell
Bennett's orchestrations (painstakingly reconstructed/reorchestrated by
Larry, fully detailed in the set's booklet).
Thank you, all, for the vibes. I survived attending a lecture at the public library and delivering some meds to Mom. -
She was 83 when she died.
-
I cannot find what age she was when she suffered a stroke that put her in the wheelchair.
-
I found an obit that said "By the end, she was virtually confined to a wheelchair—the result, she once said, of an accident suffered in the late '80s while she was dancing on tour in Australia".
I have had an email ready to send to Craig. I thought I would comment on the Nationals vs Giants game before sending it. They are in the 11th inning. It was the 8th inning when I wrote the email & I figured it wouldn't be long. :D
I'm rooting for the Nationals. Craig would really like to see a World Series game.
Back from a pretty good show.
-
Congratulations, DR Elmore, on a beautiful and well deserved review!
-
Had a really good stumble-through - one song was rough in terms of lyrics, but the two singers involved know what work they have to do to get it down pat and I know they will. Then had some food at Stanley's. I guess since I hadn't eaten in twenty-four hours my stomach was not prepared to ingest that much food - I had a small Caesar and baked penne pasta with no meat - not really that much food but I thought I was going to die I was so full. However, it never occurred to me to stop eating.
-
"However, it never occurred to me to stop eating."
My epitaph.
-
I know, right?
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Page five? Really?
-
You'd think it was a Saturday night or something.
-
I'm watching a motion picture I've never seen before and I have to say it's really good - The Dogs of War. Won't finish it until Monday, but the first forty minutes have me hooked.
-
I am trying to post using my laptop. Whatever it was that infected my computer involves adware. I have ads popping up all over HHW.
-
I guess this is not going to work.
-
Well, maybe little by little
-
I hate ads popping up - certain websites (not this one obviously) have that crap built in and I never go to those sites.
Or not.............
Not if I grab it first.
I wish I could figure out the program that was causing it.
that's a great service your church does, Vixmom. My church makes up those bags monthly, and we take as many as we need to keep in the car, so whenever we see anyone in need, we just hand then out.
Good night, all.
Actually, I didn't do too much. At first, I was just following along with the script while the stage manager and the lighting/sound designer and the director talked through everything, but after about 15 pages, I realized that my time could be better spent trying to figure out the sound board program. Fortunately, I was able to.
-
For the most part, it was pretty easy. The cues will mainly just bring up the sound and then fade the sound, and we probably won't have more than a dozen cues.
-
