Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like candy, and now it is time for you to post until the Abba-Zaba cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FRISSON!
-
The New York Kritzerland lineup looks amazing!
-
Good morning, all.
Once again, I slept solidly for a decent number of hours but still awoke way too early. No choice but to get up, though, because I had to turn the heat on, and certain members of the household of the feline persuasion were demanding some service.
-
TOD
I love certain candies (mostly chocolate based) but I don't have yer typical sweet tooth as far as craving them goes, so for the most part I'm able to avoid having candy obsessions. However, even for a person like me, that can be very difficult between the Halloween season and the end of the year.
As for dessert obsessions ... if cookies qualify, then I am sunk. I guess they're more of a snack than a dessert. I don't have much of a problem with most dessert items, and I do go for some fairly long periods without visiting the cookie department, but when I do visit it, watch out. They're a downfall. Because snacks in general are a downfall.

Good morning, all.

Congratulations, FJL. Great news to get in the morning.
-
TOD:
Rainbow sherbert
-
Tod:
Osgood pie. I keep reading about and need to find an hour to make it. The name seems to come from oh-so-good pie and is like a chess pie with pecans and raisins. Sounds delish to me.
-
I think I've decided on the subject of my next one-person play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS:
Lassie
What do you think?
::)
-
I was thinking of Flipper, but you'd have to have a water tank on stage, and that would be expensive.
-
Thank you so much, John G and Jrand!
-
Must catch up asap after the 15th! I feel like I've missed so much news here!
-
TOD:
My dessert obsession is the Dairy Queen Blizzard. There's something about a thick milk shake with chunks of candy and brownies in it that drives me wild. Mark got me a fancy ice cream maker last year and I started making my own blizzards so that I could at least make them with low fat ice cream. But, of course, all the chopped up Reese's peanut butter cups are still very high-calorie, and it's harder to practice portion control when you can make and eat as much as you want.
-
Druxy, Mark's favorite is rainbow sherbet too. But then he's allergic to chocolate, so his options are limited.
-
Chocolate is my favorite, too, but I'm also having some dietary issues, so now it's rainbow sherbert.
-
Thursday morning greetings! It's cold and dreary here in SW Ohio.
-
BK, thanks so much for the casting info about the NY shows, both here and on Facebook!

Big Hunk, Abba-Zaba and Look, all are still delicious IMHO. I find it easier to eat Big Hunk bars from the freezer and then cracking it into little pieces. When I was young the Abba-Zaba was my favorite followed by a Look bar. Now I think I like the Big Hunk best along with the Abba-Zaba.
Butterfingers were my favorite candy bar.
-
My current favorite candy bar is an extra thick milk chocolate Lindt bar. I'm not even sure they still sell them in the US. I used to find them in Duty Free shops at the airport. Since developing GERD Lindt milk chocolate bothers me so I compromise with treating myself at Easter time to the Lindt Bunny's. While not completely thick & solid parts of them are.

-
Do you have Lindt stores in the US? There are a few here and they obviously sell the bunnies there.
-
I have never heard of Big Hunk, Abba-Zaba or Look. Are they chocolate bars?
Also, is it common to call chocolate candy? Because I don't think of them as the same thing.
My favorite chocolates are: Reese's pieces and peanut butter cups, crunchie, peanut butter M&Ms.

But do they sell the super large, extra thick bars?
-

I can get the bunnies. It is the BIG bars I don't see anymore.
There was a time you couldn't get Lindt here. Bryan was 5 & Craig 3 when Keith took a trip to Switzerland for business and all I wanted him to get me was Lindt milk chocolate. Someone talked him into buy Belgian chocolates/truffles for me instead. I almost cried and I was unreasonably upset. I really ranted about him buying me something I didn't like when I had been soooo looking forward to my milk Lindt chocolate.
He brought the boys home a Lindt bar with hazelnuts, yes hazelnuts. You could get an American made Lindt bar but it wasn't very good which why they stopped selling them. I bought one of those and had Keith compare the taste to the bar he brought the boys. He then felt bad he didn't get me what I wanted after realizing the difference. I did nibble a little of the chocolate around the whole nuts, nut too close, but just enough to get a taste. I couldn't resist.
-
I'm up, I'm up. Yes, the same exact thing happened - awoke one hour after falling asleep, but thankfully this time I fell back asleep by four so I got a little under eight hours although it doesn't feel like it.
-
Congrats to all nominees and sellouts.
-
DR Jennifer, chocolate is made into candy and I consider chocolate, if in a candy shape, to be candy. I also eat chocolate bits for baking as candy so I get why you don't think of it as candy.

For candy bars, I love Reece's, which have a wonderful artificial flavor, and Heath bars. But as I cut back on my sugar intake, I find Heath bars too sweet.

Good afternoon, all1 Once again, effin Time warner has been down; on Tuesday, it was down for about 4-5 hours and today it was out at 8:00am, when I dragged myself ut of bed, and just came up around 2:30pm. this is really working my last nerve and pissing me off.
On the happier side of things, kudos to our DR FJL!
DR Cillalz, it sounds as though you are suffering from "Grass is greener" syndrome. I hope everything works out to your satisfaction and personal happiness.
So, I have little to report beyond that.
-
I have only this to report:
Criterion 24-hour flash sale is on, 50% off everything in stock, use promo code SPIKE, free shipping on orders over $50.
http://www.criterion.com/sale
-
I like that, "Grass is greener" syndrome.
-
Somebody at Warner Archive screwed up.
I got a notice for a Columbus Day 5 for $50.00 sale, so I took a look and saw that among the titles offered were several multiple disc/box sets. I ordered the JEAN HARLOW COLLECTION (7 movies), plus MAVERICK, Season 4, CHEYENNE, Seasons 2 & 3, and A LIFE IN THE THEATRE.
Just as I finished placing my order, the entire sale page went off-line and, as of now, it is still not back up. My hunch is that including the box sets was a mistake and they are now correcting it. Thankfully, I have a confirmed order number.

Congrats to Druxy on his "deal" with Warner Archives. It's always fun when a sale is posted and things not meant to be on sale end up among the sale items.
-
DR Ron I learned something today. I had to look up double-dog.

The site is back up (with the box sets gone), but now there is no 5 for $50 discount.

Hello, everyone.

congrats to FJL & Co!

Congrats to Larry on ROBERTA!

Cold-begone vibes to George!
-
Hi Jeanne. I sat down to write an important email and it took me too long. I'm having trouble getting back up to finish cleaning the house. I still have the floors left to do.
Guess I had better get moving.
-
Hello, Jeanne!
-
TOD:
I don't think I've ever eaten a LOOK or BIG HUNK. I'm used to female friends referring to a nice-looking guy as a BIG HUNK. As a kid, I loved ABBA-ZABAS. I didn't have any cavities until I was in my twenties, so that wasn't a problem. I don't think I've eaten one since I was a kid. And now I am careful about what I eat because dentistry is just so expensive!
-
Trader Joe's sells a dairy-free, coconut milk ice cream that I'm very fond of. I don't have a raging sweet tooth, but I do like chocolate and become addicted to it quickly. I do love chocolate mousse.
-
Hi, Jane!
Hi, Ron!
-
I really enjoyed Evan Buckley Harris in LI'L ABNER. Among other things, I felt he had the right mix of boastful/conceited and yet charming.
-
Glad to see that Richard Sherman will be in the NY KL shows.
-
I was supposed to see the cardiologist tomorrow to receive the results of my echocardiogram, but UCLA phoned this morning and told me the appointment had been cancelled and the cardiologist won't be available for several weeks. Arrghh! I know my primary care doc has a copy of the results, so I've asked him to call me. We won't be able to go into as much detail, but he can tell me if everything looks OK. I'll have to find another cardiologist, because the one I've been seeing just isn't available enough. It's a good thing this isn't urgent.
-
I think I've decided on the subject of my next one-person play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS:

Only one-half hour left in my workday.
Am taking tomorrow off for a nice 3-day weekend.
-
A co-worker is buying tickets tomorrow for us (she and I) to go see "Blithe Spirit" (w/Angela Lansbury) in January.
-
JRAND you posted yesterday
DR CHAS SMITH I have had my speech prepared for about 8 years. I have won this award three times previously...and there is one other three-time winner.
It would be nice to be the Katharine Hepburn of the Putnam County Playhouse, so to speak.
Actually I think you'd be the Audra McDonald of the Putnam County Playhouse. Ms Hepburn surprisingly never won a Tony award.
-
I loved her on Saturday Night Live, back in the days when I watched it, but hadn't seen anything of her since then and sort of forgot about her. Sorry to hear she has passed away
RIP Jan Hooks

Sorry to hear about Jan Hooks. She was so funny!

COLD-BEGONE VIBES TO JANE!
Thanks. I had a Pepsi this afternoon, not only did it give me energy to finish cleaning my throat has felt better. I think I will take a Benadryl tonight as it often helps.

DR Cillalz, it sounds as though you are suffering from "Grass is greener" syndrome. I hope everything works out to your satisfaction and personal happiness.
Was suffering from grass is greener......I looked over the fence and saw lots of dog crap in the bright green grass and decided that the regular looking grass on my side of the fence was much better
-
DR Ron I learned something today. I had to look up double-dog.
Double dog dare you is how I remember it

That is what came up when I googled "double-dog"
-
I like artificial boosters if they work
-
So do I. Too much and they do the opposite of what I want them to do so I try to limit my use of them.
-
Okay, I can't stop humming "The Rink."
-
And the word of the day is: FRISSON!
I went to school with June Frisson, cousin of Dyan Frisson, aka Dyan Cannon.

Congrats and vibes to all who deserve and need them

And the word of the day is: FRISSON!
I went to school with June Frisson, cousin of Dyan Frisson, aka Dyan Cannon.
Dyan and my cousin were best friends growing up. I used to spend time with her brother, David, when we were kids.
-
Oh, and since Vixmom is away,
ajkskj skscould hwe a vbes roek ckhHHW!
Thank you. I was feeling a little forlorn.
-
I was a big Jan Hooks fan, largely because of her scene in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure as the tour guide at the Alamo.
-
Let's get off this page.
-
Five!
-
Page five? Really?
-
What a kookie day. Had a very long lunch meeting - three hours - with our own Rob Stevens. Then came back home and spent four hours creating the Facebook event pages for the NY shows - I loathe the fact that you have to click each and every person you invite. I've gotten used to the LA folks so I know how to skip around, but I have had to go slowly to make sure I don't forget any of the NY folks.
Meanwhile, I'm still hoping that our East Coast dear readers take the time to put their reservations in - you know, like Elmore and FJL and, well, everyone on the East Coast. We did get some more today, so that's good and hopefully the Facebook stuff will get some, although I still have about 2,000 names to go through - for EACH event - no way to do them together so each had to be done as a separate event.
-
Now I'm watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray.
-
I hope you get a good turnout in New York.
-
Thanks so much to Ron, MBarnum, Ginny, Jane, Elmore, Jeanne, Mike and Cilla!
-
Today the police announced that a man who shot a police officer here last week died. The problem is he's still on life support although unresponsive. So he's still alive. All the news outlets said he was dead then his family contacted them and the hospital confirmed he was still alive. The police stood by their statement. Pretty darned weird if you ask me
-
That is really strange, Cillaliz.
-
Finished watching the season of "The Mind of a Chef" with Edward Lee. It made me very hungry. Especially the baked Texas Oysters with bourbon butter on top.
-
I had eggs benedict and a short stack for lunch - the pancakes were great (House of Pies) but the eggs were way over cooked and there was only a teeny-tiny bit of hollandaise - the good chef must have not been there. I haven't eaten since and I probably should go get something to nosh on.
-
Oh, and since Vixmom is away,
ajkskj skscould hwe a vbes roek ckhHHW!
I heard that!
-
Good night, all.
-
It's been a very long but very happy and productive day
-
I need to get up in seven hours to go back and meet some more people before I head over to michigan
-
I very been up and running for about 23 hours working on about 4 hours sleep so goodnight boys and gals,
-
But first. Congrats to FJL I am so proud of you!
-
Bk I will take care of my reservations when I gets back to ny. Please save me 1 seat at each of the 7 pm shows. Is it open seating or do we gave to request to sit together?
-
Assuming any one wants to sit with stinky ol' me
-
Congratulations, Fred! I wish I could see the show (or a DVD - hint, hint).
-
Congratulations, Jrand!! Did Sherry get a nomination?
-
This week has been crazy. It seems like the only time I have been home is when I asleep. As opposed to only being asleep when I am at someone else's home.
-
What the Hell did that mean?
