What wild dreams I had last night!
One involved chasing and being chased. There were car chases and guns and time travel. Whew!

It is a Federal Holiday.
For some of us, it is Columbus Day. But for some of us, it is Indigenous Peoples Day.
I am so happy that I no longer live in Washington State.
No, DR Ron Pulliam - it's just yesterday's HHW topic title. :)

Columbus was a "bad person," and they want to be politically correct.

Well, yes, someone who slaughtered innocents and sold children as sex slaves is certainly not worthy of celebration. Do you think it should be replaced with something other than Indigenous Peoples Day?
Congratulations to our very own Elmo for a "positive" nod for his work on "Roberta" from the reviewer at Playbill.com (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/on-the-record-the-long-lost-troubled-musical-roberta-finally-on-disc-332963). I like the score to "Roberta" considerably better than Mr. Suskin, but he at least gives some credit where it's due.
It certainly sounds skippable to me at this point.
Monday-- Columbus Day.
It is a Federal Holiday. The City and County work today, because they traded Columbus Day for Cesar Chavez Day (I think). There is garbage pick-up but no mail delivery.
Superior Court ids open, but the Court of Appeals and District Court are closed.
Very confusing.
The more Suskin I read the less enamored I am with his writing. At least with the substance of his writing. He says very little of use but employs a lot of words.Congratulations to our very own Elmo for a "positive" nod for his work on "Roberta" from the reviewer at Playbill.com (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/on-the-record-the-long-lost-troubled-musical-roberta-finally-on-disc-332963). Mr Suskin has panned every recording I've worked on with New World Records, but for someone who is hired to review music, he's no musician and he's very condescending about period musicals. He's much more eager to deflect his tiny musical knowledge by how much he knows abut the show's production and how much he dislikes Harbach's lyrics.
Also, for someone who - he points out immediately - wrote a book on Broadway orchestrations, he says nothing about this recording's charts.

DR Cillaliz, glad that your concert went well.
I enjoyed the novel Gone Girl. No, it wasn't great literature, but it was a fun read. Haven't seen the film.

We don't have the day off. If I remember correctly, years ago state workers negotiated to work Columbus Day so that they could get the day after Thanksgiving off. That's why we have a four-day weekend at Thanksgiving. The library follows the state and federal holidays that the state workers get.

I'm going to read the book. I really wonder if the ending is the same.

I am glad it's Columbus Day. I don't mind celebrating him. Most of the people we celebrate have a dark side, so it is what it is. I'm glad because I don't feel well at all today and I can stay easily stay home

Smart move to get the Friday off instead.

Doesn't that mean he deleted his profile??
Someone find out what the HELL is going on with MBarnum, before I slap him upside the head.

If indeed DR MBarnum is gone from HHW for good, it is a very very sad day.
I believe that DR MBarnum was reacting to DR Druxy, DR Cillaliz, and not to you.
So am I. I did have some good news from a family member with cancer. They got it all out. She doesn't need chemo or anything.

One of the most beloved films of all time, The Wizard of Oz, can now be seen and heard in a magical new production. John Goberman, Emmy-Award winning producer of Live from Lincoln Center, and the creator of the acclaimed A Symphonic Night at the Movies, presents Oz with Orchestra.
The Wizard of Oz was a technical marvel for the MGM studio in the late 1930s. Today, MGM has stunningly re-mastered this timeless classic. The brilliantly restored images are accompanied by full symphony orchestra playing entirely new transcriptions of Harold Arlen’s brilliant lost scores. Hearing Judy Garland’s original 1939 studio recordings, backed by lush, live orchestration, will transport children and adults alike. With this version of The Wizard of Oz on the big screen, moviegoers will be treated to the Oscar-winning film as it has never been seen before.
In summer of 2005, the program premiered to sold out crowds at Wolf Trap and the Ravinia Festival. Claire Marie Blaustein of The Washington Post declared, “It was an exciting evening, and the grander message of this event was truly something I found in my own back yard – the five children sitting next to me…who had never seen the movie before. They were as enraptured at their first sights of the Emerald City as I was seeing it with new eyes.”
