Well, you've read the notes, the notes caught up with Spamalot and did the hula, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're doing their own variation of the hula - the MOOla.

A non-Equity tour of Spamalot came to Olympia a few years ago.  They had two performances and I got to usher for both.  It was quite good and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Cilla, some of the others at our school in recent years were "Finding Nemo Contributorily Negligent" and "Ocean's Replevin"  and "Lawst."

Good morning, all.

Up after a too-short night of sleep. My doctor will be proud. I had the lowest blood sugar reading this morning that I've had in a year. And I can't think of anything I did yesterday to cause that.

As you can tell from the previous post, we are back. Even though we have returned, I probably won't be around that much for a while. We need time to wind down and decompress from the past 6-8 weeks.

I think you all know from Larry's post a while ago that my sister passed away. She had a recurrence of cancer and fought valiantly for a year and a half but on October 10, the battle ended. I won't go into details but it was a long and arduous fight and though it may sound strange, we (my sister included) are glad that it's over.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and words. I dropped in and out every so often to read posts and your kindness means a lot to Anthony and me.

And we move on.

Nice posts from DR CILLA LIZ about the concert/movie last night.

Sometimes these new-fangled HE washers have computers that get messed up.  You might try unplugging your washer for a few minutes and then plugging it back in to reset the electronic components.

We have our annual meeting at the theatre and will find out who wins the Upstage Award for 2014.....time will tell....perhaps I will win.  I will be very disappointed if I don't.  It has been TEN years since I last won....and that's a lot of work that has been ignored....

SO WE SHALL SEE......if I do win....there will be pictures.

If I don't win....there will be tears.

I love SPAMALOT.

I missed it when I was visiting New York and Boston, but when Sandy and I were in San Antonio for a few days in 2008 (deciding whether we wanted to move there or to Austin), the national company (with Gary Beach) was in town, so we took in a matinee. 

Very entertaining, and I love the songs.

Insomnia = low blood sugar? Let's hope not. You may be doing something you're not aware of. Mine dropped nine points recently, which both surprised and pleased me. All I'd done was cut back on carbs. (I lost weight, too, but I expected that.)

I got about seven hours of sleep, stayed in bed till ten-thirty, had a telephonic conversation, then went and had a Cobb Salad and a bagel, then came home.  I've not been relaxing at all, I'm afraid.  I've been figuring out the little changes for the two NY shows, then getting the singers who have new number or who are new to the show their songs and some tracks to hear.

We took advantage of this beautiful day and went to the little town of Jacksonville to pick up the Walla Walla Creamy Onion Dressing I have been waiting for.

We had brunch on the patio of the Jacksonville Inn.  We haven't eaten there in years and years as the last time we were there the waiter was kind of rude and the meal was terrible. 

We noticed a much wider selection of vegetarian dishes on the menu so in we went.  When we sat down the served us champagne as part of the brunch, there was a sparking cider option as well.  We were given a large menu along with the specials.  What they neglected to mention was that only 2 pages were options for the brunch.  Had we known this we probably would have left before taking the champagne.  We were glad we didn't though neither of us had a vegetarian meal we enjoyed our dinning experience.

Included with brunch was a little fruit cup topped with whipped cream with a flaky pastry on the side.  The flavor & texture of the whipped cream was exceptionally good.  They use powdered sugar.  I will have to remember that.

I had the Grilled Salmon Flatbread Sandwich served with crispy fried onions, Inn-made tartar sauce, vine-ripened tomatoes, and shaved romaine lettuce.  I don't normally care for salmon sandwiches & this was terrific.

Keith had the Sandwich of the Day which was a roasted Turkey Wrap (spinach wrap)
with Guacamole, Baby Spinach, Provolone and Sundried Tomato Aioli.

Both of our meals had a side of delicious Potato Salad.

I don't know when we will take a drive to Jacksonville.  I want to return and try the black bean burger which unfortunately is not on the brunch menu.

The outdoor patio has heaters so it doesn't have to be as nice out as it was today.

I went for a bike ride today.  It was cold (around 45F).  But I actually wasn't cold. It was just the wind and the lack of sun that made it less than comfortable.

Personally, I would remake RAISE THE TITANIC.  In the book, some of the most exciting parts of the book are after they raise the ship.  There is a whole section where the Russians attempt to hijack (shipjack?) the ship in the middle of a hurricane.  In the movie, that whole part lasts about two minutes on screen.  It was like, they ran out of time and they ran out of money; so skip to the ship arriving in New York.  What a letdown.

Made calzones for the first time. Not hard, but my inexperience made them a little messy. But that's OK with me.

I'm back from an enjoyable but -- though long in actual time -- an all too brief RAGTIME read-through, in which we read through and rehearsed maybe a third of the score.  And we don't meet again till next Sunday, which is Tech Sunday, when presumably we will be playing through the whole show.  It's really sad how little time (money) is allocated for orchestra rehearsals in regional shows.  But man, I am loving the score, it sounds like the orchestra will be good, and though there are three keyboardists, all of the good sh stuff is mine.

Sometimes these new-fangled HE washers have computers that get messed up.  You might try unplugging your washer for a few minutes and then plugging it back in to reset the electronic components.

It's been unplugged for a day now.  I've read about a part that may need to be replaced.  I'll try to run a load in the next day or two and if that doesn't work call a repair man.  It looks like an easy fix

I am going to a free screening of Private Violence, an HBO film about domestic violence tomorrow right after work.  I wasn't sure I wanted to go, but I know one of the executive producers pretty well and decided I do want to see it.  Since one of the sponsors here is the place that Edith works, it may be the first time I see her since she left.
