Well, you've read the notes, the notes were launched and had a party, and now it is time for you to post until the launched cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HALLUX!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Sandy at Capitol.
-
That's a great song, BK! Sandy sounds wonderful! Can't wait for the whole album! :D
-
And the orchestra sounds great!
-
That's the Capitol Records Studio A sound - nothing like it ever.
-
And glad you like the song.
-
From yesterday:
Ben, my condolences on the loss of your sister.
-
Also:
Jrand, congrats on your Upstage Award win! :D
-
And yes, Tom, the setting for the movie of "A Little Night Music" was changed from Sweden to Austria, and some of the names were changed also. For instance, Henrik became Erich.
-
Carl-Magnus Malcolm became Carl-Magnus Mittelheim.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
I'll be going back to the office this morning. My department has been very kind and supportive during this time. They even sent flowers to the memorial which was completely unexpected. I don't remember telling them where the memorial was being held. They must have googled and found her obituary. I was, as the English say, gobsmacked by the flowers.
-
Good morning, all.
Back to the grind.

So Bruce-- Please tell us the History of "It Might Be Fun."
-
I remember seeing Shivers aka They Came From Within as THE PARASITE MURDERS. Frisson was actually the title when it was shown in French. In was shot in Montreal in then rather new development called Nun's Island.
I grew up with the young girl who had the controversial scene in the elevator. She is infected and passes it on by kissing a man "romantically" from mouth to mouth. I believe this is what gave the film an X rating in the USA originally. It was later toned down to get an R
She started out using the Kirsten Bishopric (later shortened to Bishop).
At the beginning year I received a note via Facebook that she was dying from a rare form of lung cancer. A friend of hers was going to do a run to raise money for her care.
She died in April at 50 years.
-
A GUY NAMED JOE is another movie that didn't need to be remade...even with the next setting.
The original Spencer Tracy film holds up quite well.

Good morning, all! I slept very late, and I will shortly head down to City Center, where i have work helping Joshie prepare for next Monday's Encores! Gala. I have no idea what he's got lined up for me, but it should be interesting.
-
I don't seem to have the right browser plug-in; I have never been able to listen to the HHW radio show, nor any of the audio clips that bk posts. :'(
-
Which browser are you using? I have 5 different browsers at work, Firefox, Chrome, Maxthon, Internet Explorerer and Comodo. They all play the show and the clips without any problem and no mention of a plug in.
-
I have tried Chrome, Opera, and Internet Explorer. From what you have said, DR Ben, I guess it's the computer and not the browser.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Which is dumb, because the computer (Windows PC) is only about one year old.
-
Had a good sleep -- till four in the morning, when I woke up and laid awake for an hour!
But I took the opportunity then to catch up on the notes and listen to the song, which is lovely.
-
Which is dumb, because the computer (Windows PC) is only about one year old.
Yes, you should be able to listen to/play the show on a computer using Windows 7 or 8 with any one of those browsers. Can you play other media, CDs or video clips from YouTube or other video sites or are all audio/video options out?
-
Good morning.
-
TOD: Yep, I think "Broadcast News" and "Jaws" are going to be the clear winners today. Although I did also like Dreyfuss in "Down and Out in Beverly Hills". I know a lot of people really liked "Raising Arizona" (Hunter), but I never liked that film.
I, too, saw "Always" many years ago and I thought it was okay. I enjoyed learning something about what's involved in putting out forest fires. But what was truly pathetic was how the movie "Ghost" totally ripped off "Always" a year later. Of course, Ghost was a better film (mostly because of Whoopi Goldberg), but still I don't think plagiarism like that should be allowed.

Monday morning greetings! I don't have a good excuse for not checking in yesterday. Richard and I went to Lima and I took a 2-hour nap in my chair when we got home. Then started catching up on Madam Secretary on my iPad before watching last night's broadcast episode. Then I got involved in the Inspector Lewis that Richard was watching on PBS.
-
So glad to see DR Ben has returned. You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers.
-
TOD - I like Richard Dreyfuss in The Goodbye Girl and Holly Hunter in Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? (one of our family favorites).
-
So, today Richard and I are taking Mary Linda to the Dayton airport for her business trip to Chicago. On the way home, we'll stop at Home Depot to initiate some conversations about some major kitchen work. Our 16-year-old dishwasher has died, so we're going to replace it, along with the sink, countertops, refrigerator (28 years old), and microwave.
-
Yes, DR Ben - no problem playing CDs or YouTube clips.
-
DR Ginny - all it takes is money, right? :P

6.The Grand Budapest Hotel
7.The Monument's Men

DR JENNIFER I really liked The Winter Soldier.....
-
What a great Sandy Song.....thanks for posting it MR BK! Can't wait for the album!!!!
-
Thanks to everyone once again for the kind words on my award! It was most pleasing to win it.

TOD:

I never considered "Ghost" to be a rip-off of anything. In "Ghost", the protagonist protected his loved one from his murderer through the help of a medium.
Nothing like any of that in "A Guy Named Joe" or "Always" (which was based upon the former film).
However, if it's just the idea that a deceased love is intervening in the life of his or her former spouse or partner, it's a concept that has been used in many films.

I'm up, I'm up. Again with the seven hours. It's overcast outside.
-
Taking clothes to the dry cleaners shortly. My usual dry cleaners up and moved about four months ago, so I'm trying a new one.
-
Thanks to those who listened and said nice things about the little song. Much appreciated.
-
Your prediction came true DR RLP....you should hang out a shingle.
Mr Dreyfuss was the Stage Manager in Valley of the Dolls who knocks on Neely's door to tell her she's on....."My God, she's wearing her second act dress." "So....I'll do the second act first...."

New Dry Cleaning Vibes for MR BK.
The Crest Cleaners in Mooresville for 50 years, suddenly became the Vista Cleaners in Mooresville....but they did a nice job pressing my tuxedo....so I guess they are my new Cleaners.

I had a very strange dream early this morning just before I woke. I was being prepped for surgery, and I asked to use the bathroom. Joshie the cat trotted behind me to the bathroom, but when I came out he was gone. So there I was, partly sedated and wandering around the mall (?) in a hospital gown calling for him.
I woke up calling "Yoshie." I guess I was too asleep to be able to make a "J" sound. I was glad when he jumped up on the bed with me.

Thanks, JRand. I wonder who it is I am supposed to be encouraging.
If it's any help, I'm getting some vibrations that you should be encouraging members of your family to take better care of themselves to decrease the likelihood that they might need to move in with you for assistance/care in their declining years.

It Might Be Fun was written for what was meant to be the follow-up film to Nudie Musical, Sailors, a funny send-up of the sailor musicals of the 40s and 50s updated to the 70s, about three young men from a tiny town who join what was then the Now Navy thinking it's going to be just like the musicals of old, i.e. singing, dancing, and shore leave. They find out differently. On leave, as in On the Town, they meet three different girls, one of whom worked selling fish at the Farmer's Market. This was her song, but with very character specific lyrics. I've always loved the tune of it and the lyric worked well for the character. Sandy and Lanny also loved the tune and the idea of it, so I rewrote the character specific lyrics - only one verse, the final one, remained unchanged. I just love the chart Lanny did and think Sandy did a great job on a very difficult song to sing in terms of its breath control. Glad two or three people enjoyed it.
-
From DR John:
Sort of. But she made it longer and uglier. And almost Southern, not British. And the film is set in Germany, and the character is German. She should be pronouncing it the German way, which is the way you would pronounce it. It does not rhyme with snaps.
You would think someone would have told her how to pronounce it the German way.

You use different muscles on an indoor bike, also when raking leaves.

How did you know that she was not an outdoor cat? I don't know if they are allowed, but many cats here spend part of the day outside roaming around.

I just made blueberry muffins cause I wanted to take some to give to my nieces tomorrow. I love blueberry muffins. My sister and older niece love them too. My younger niece last time decided that she only liked banana muffins. So not sure if she will eat them. Also my brother-in-law doesn't eat blueberries. I feel bad, but I like them so much more than banana muffins. Although I am making chilli tomorrow which he loves.

I eat blueberry muffins quite often. My favorite coffee shop makes them fresh several times each morning so you can have them hot or less than an hour old

I am once again"between assistants". It went as well as these things can go. She was very nice and I think she realized she was in over her head. I did give her a week severance pay which she was very surprised about, but I thought it was the least I could do.

I have a different attitude about it this time. It's going to be really busy and I'm going to have to work more for awhile, but I feel good about it this time. Right now I'm working on automating and finally setting up case management software. I didn't want to do the cloud, but I'm using an approved program and it allows me to work from my recliner in the evening to update files, time and billing, so I'm thinking it will make a huge difference

I know I need someone to help, but I want to figure out exactly what I really need. A full time person who does as much as Edith did or a receptionist/interpreter who mostly answers the phone, schedules appointments and translates. They are very different people. I think I was hoping that I found someone who was everything, but that wasn't the case. She just isn't her resume

I spent the evening putting clients into my new case management software. I think I have all the current ones listed. Now I'll have to go back in and fill out the details. I really like the idea I can do all this while relaxing in my recliner

Cilla I am very sorry things didn't work out - Vibes the right person is "just around the corner"
Ditto and Ditto!!

Thanks everyone, I really am sorry it didn't work out, but I'm a bit relieved as she was making more and more mistakes and it was starting to get stressful worrying what was going to go wrong next. I'm still looking for files and today the first appointment came in - he was on the calendar for tomorrow. The last appointment was listed as a repeat but I'd never heard of this person...she had the wrong name on the calendar. I have no idea who will really be coming in tomorrow....sort of a mystery, lol

Back from a very fun launch party with lots of fun guests in attendance. More in the notes.

So...has anyone updated their iTunes?
-
Every time that there's an iTunes update, I have to go through ALL the genres and move songs back to where they should be.
-
The songs (and not all change) will actually have "musical" as the genre when you look in the "Get Info" info, but it'll be filed in my "soundtracks" section, or under "rock," or some other unrelated genre.
-
:P is what I say to that.
:P
-
Just downloaded the new iTunes, but I never see any changes - all looks the same to me.
-
Oh dear - just looked at it - all new crap. Took a few minutes to find "songs" - once I clicked on that everything was back the way I like. But what's with the RED icon now - weird.

Is anyone watching "Gracepoint," the remake of "Broadchurch"? I just watched the first half hour and am not interested in watching anymore. They had the shaky cam, and I don't think I like David Tennant's American accent...but that's just me.
