Well, you've read the notes, the notes were really big, and now it is time for you to post until the really big cows come home.

Anyway, to continue...I couldn't even open up the drawer on my DVD burner.  I'm going to take it in to a local place that should at least be able to get the drawer open.  Hopefully, that's what's wrong with it and it'll work again.  I had quite a lot of stuff recorded onto it that I hadn't burned onto DVDs, but nothing that was terribly important....but still. :P

DR Jrand64 - all is going well. I do not have a nameplate, and I do not have to wear a tie. I have to complete training and certification before I can help my own customers, but I am making myself useful.

There is quite a lot to learn - you have to be a tax expert, an immigration expert, and an insurance expert. I have a lot of catching up to do! (and not in the HHW sense).

Don't forget Barbara Harris of Scottsdale, Arizona if you do a Phoenix series.

Not that she'd be in it, but maybe she'd come see it.

Good morning, all.

I went to bed last night at a fairly decent hour.  Okay, it might have been just a little indecent, but it was decent enough, damn it.  I began falling asleep, but something woke me, I'm thinking around 1:00 or thereabouts ..... and I laid there awake for nearly two hours.

Now I'm trying to get back a dream that seemed to have some interesting setting or plot line, but it won't come into focus.

Coffee!

Today is Allison Hayes Day on TCM......from now until 8 pm EST her movies are being featured.

Right now I am suffering through Beverly Garland's ranting and ravings and irritating performance in THE STEEL JUNGLE.....Allison has done her thing, and I think she is finished in this one......

A couple of her best performances COUNT THREE AND PRAY and CHICAGO SYNDICATE are not included....but there are some interesting B movies coming up ALL DAY.....

Wednesday morning greetings!  Another slow morning here on W. 69th St.

Good morning, all! I slept late, had another bad round of getting this computer back on line, confirmed that my social security had landed in my bank account, responded to an email from my young British composer, and here I am. I have to call and book a barber appointment for tomorrow.

I have a meeting with Rob Berman at 10:30, which I look forward to since we haven't visited since he left for San Diego in September, and then at 2:00 I'm meeting DR Ginny and Richard for lunch at Luke's Lobster:
http://lukeslobster.com/uws/

I have work on Lerner and Loewe and Jerome Moross to keep me busy for the next week, and that makes me happy. And that's my news for now.

We will make some Midwestern HHW Mischief when I'm next in Cincinnati, DR Ginny!

I'll be there for my niece's wedding on May 16th, and plan on taking a couple of days after that away from family obligations to get around and do things I never seem to have time for otherwise... such as a get-together with both DR Ginny and DR Jrand64.

I forgot to put this up yesterday.

Here two photo grabs.

The first is Mr. Bruce Kimmel in 1972

The second is Mr. Kimmel with Academy Award winning actress Patricia Neal. As BK mentioned that this was her first acting role after her stroke,

They are from the final episode ever of the tv series Ghost Story that ran in 1972.

TCB posted a picture from Sleuth yesterday.

It reminded me when I used to do some stage acting and I was in a comedy my bio in part would say

Some of Michael's favorite roles have been: Detective Sergeant Tarrant (Sleuth), Lefty (In Waiting For Lefty), God (Susan and God), Edward (Edward, My Son).

And thanks, Jennifer.  I'm going to leave in about a half hour to take it in, then I'll go to my parents' house to help my dad figure out (again) how to switch his new TV from the cable box to the DVD player.  He says he's doing what is supposed to be done, but it doesn't seem to work.  That's something that can't be figured out over the phone, so I'll head on over since it's close to the repair shop.

I woke up to an e-mail from the parents of the fellow who is the musical director of the And the World Goes Round recording.  I knew they were doing this, taking an ad in the LA Times to trumpet their son, as a birthday present to him.  The ad was not run by me for approval, even though it should have been.  I would have suggested they attribute the quotes included, although since a couple of them are not from actual reviewers perhaps that's why they didn't.  I would also have more than suggested that since everyone's names are in this ad, including their attorney's, it might have been nice to include the name of the person who not only produced the CD but without whose involvement the CD could and would never have happened.  But what do I know?  And yes, this is the kind of thing I've been dealing with for over a year-and-a-half now.

Today, I received a DVD in the mail.  On it was FLORENCE HENDERSON'S CHRISTMAS BUNNY (hopefully not the same as THE BROWN BUNNY), Johnny Whitaker as THE LITTLEST ANGEL, THE NATIVITY, and (Wait for it!) A CHILD IS BORN.  Yes, my friends, the  same A CHILD IS BORN that BK released on CD two years ago, but this time - with pictures!!

This play aired only twice, that I can find verification, in 1954 and 1955.  That would mean I was four or five when it aired, and yet; I remembered several things about it, as soon as I heard the music for the first time.  I bought the DVD (it cost me $3.97) because I wanted to see if my memory was correct about one scene.  When Joseph comes to the door of the Inn, the Innkeeper tells him there is no room, but as he starts to walk away, the Innkeeper's wife comes out and stops them.  Mary is never shown, but this part of the scene is shown thru her eyes, but there is a bright glow around her.  I remembered that you didn't ever see her, and I remembered the bright glow, but I thought I remembered her being shown from the side, with the headpiece covering her face.

Oh well, still pretty good memory for a 4 or 5 year old.  And it is a very young Harve Presnell as the Begger.

Well, thanks for the vibes, but sadly my DVD burner didn't break down soon enough. :P I got to the repair shop and there was a sign "Closed Indefinitely."  They also wrote that people needed to call them if they still had people's equipment! :o So, it must've closed fairly recently.  Now, I need to find another place to get my DVD burner repaired.  Fortunately, I do have another one of the exact same model, so I'm not totally out of the DVD burning business.

I would like to thank everyone involved for the greatness of this post.  All of my teachers who taught me to write, all of my directors who have cast me in a play or musical, my mother for doing my laundry and giving me a clean shirt to wear today, and of course my dog for her support in everything I do.

Now why is it when BK was on the east coast we had tons of pages every day and now things are just turtle-ing by.

So here's my two cents on the Cosby situation: I am not surprised that the rape allegations are popping up like weeds, but I am surprised at the ages of the ladies. When I worked at Drama Book Shop in 1995, we had a young black actress working there who claimed that she used to be one of the ""Cosby kids," whatever that was, and I had the impression from her innuendoes that he liked them young. I'm saddened by the whole mess because I had been a fan of his for years. Until 1995.

LOL!  You never played Godot?

I suppose if it sells copies, it will be okay.

I didn't break it did I?

Not at all!  The drawer not opening has been developing over the last few weeks, so hopefully it just needs a new belt or something simple like that.

I've got a can of WD-40 if it would help.

JohnG - i think I read on the Book of Face that you'd listened to Sandy's album and enjoyed it - but not a peep on this board?

Nope. I posted here that I had started listening to it. It's wonderful. I just haven't had time to pay close attention to it. I particularly like "When You're Waiting for Love," "The Lights and the Smiles" and "Two Roads."

I hope to have the amazon review posted soon, though I need to do the same for "Roberta" and "And the World Goes Round."

Can you find some place that'll sell me some time?
