Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both beige and black and had folly, and now it is time for you to post until the beige and black cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TIFFIN!
-
Today is going to be a long day. I have to be up and downtown by 10:00am so that I can help paint the floor of The Midnight Sun where "The Head That Wouldn't Die" will be performing. It shouldn't take more than an hour or so (assuming enough other people show up to help).
-
I'm done after that until I'm needed for a tech rehearsal at 4:00pm. No actors will be involved...it'll just be the tech people talking through all the tech cues. That also shouldn't take too long. In between those two events, I'll probably get some food and maybe come home and do a little laundry. It depends on how much time I actually have.
-
I'm now off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
First in the real morning, after BK!
-
Wow, it looks like the "Herringbone" album producer has generated much bad feeling with how all the Kickstarter matters have been handled.
If I can ask for my money back I would. It's TWO years over due. It was promised Aug 2012.
-
Good morning to all.
-
Since I have to be up early starting on Monday for work. I started to condition myself by going to bed early and have the alarm wake me up at 5:30. So on Monday I'll be out of the house by 6:20.

My mother was supposed to fly down on Wednesday for winter on AIR CANADA. She went online to check her reservation and discovered her seat assignment was no longer there. She called and found out that they gave away her seat to someone else. She paid extra for an aisle seat up front. They ended up giving her a window seat in the back.
I told her that she has to call back and tell them that the seat was not acceptable and that they should upgrade her to business class.
Guess what! They gave away the other seat!!!
I told her to insist on a proper seat that she paid for or better. Now she might not be able to come down on Wednesday.
-
Morning all.
That is all.

You're preaching to the choir here, Mike, or at least the family of the choir.
Could you tell me whether the update you got Nov. 23 was an invite to the party? It's hard to believe that only $250 and up donors got invited.
-
I'll be getting an eye exam later today. I already went to the store and picked out my frames so now I just need the exam and when we come back to LI for the Christmas holidays I will have new glasses.
-
It's cold today. The weather bug says 21 degrees.
We will head back to the city tomorrow and then it's back to a very hectic week at work. At least I have my end of the performance evaluation finished so I can concentrate on getting work done.
-
I just finished re-reading
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Guernsey_Literary_and_Potato_Peel_Pie_Society)
What a wonderful book. I highly recommend it. It's moving and funny and full of life. Well worth a first read, let alone a second read.
I've been using Overdrive to get library books on my Android media player. It's not the easiest process (I think because the device is small, just 5.5 inches) and reading on a small screen can be tiring but I plan on getting a tablet sometime in the next month (probably a Samsung Tab 4 10.1) and it should be easier from then on.
My Sony E-Reader became obsolete earlier this year (they decided to get out of the e-reader business, closing the Reader Store and ending software updates and creation of new machines). The device still works fine as a reader. All my purchased and downloaded (free public domain books) are there and the wi-fi still works but it's very slow AND I can't buy any books from Kobo (Sony transferred all our accounts to Kobo) using wi-fi and I can't use Overdrive on the device. I have to buy books from Kobo on my PC and transfer them via the USB cable to my device and I can't get a book from Overdrive on the reader at all. It's a 4/5 year old device which makes it ancient in technology years and if Overdrive existed 5 years ago it wasn't the same as it is now. My device was not supported then and it's not supported now. It's time to upgrade!

I'm off to begin the day.
Have fun doing whatever you're going to be doing!

I love the scene in THE GREAT IMPOSTER with Edmond O'Brien. I LOL every time I see it.

Good morning, all.
I do believe it's Saturday, even though the days this week all feel pretty similar.
Coffee!
-
Hmm. Must be Black Friday in Tarnation.
-
Good morning, all! It's going to be busy because Time Warner is already giving me major grief. The high speed service on my new modem is slow as all get out, and I am accomplishing nothing.
The asses at Time Warner are providing no help at all.
-
I'm sorry to say I hear almost nothing but complaints about Time Warner from friends in the city.
Internet speed vibes for DR Elmore! STAT!

The November 23 was not an invite and the original kickstarter did say the party would only be for the $250 and up donors

I've probably mentioned this before whenever I was thinking out loud about it, but I've finally decided to treat myself to an iPad for music reading applications such as: http://forscore.co/
I'm thinking maybe an Apple-refurbished one (with full warranty) to help take a little bit of the sting off the price tag. I know I could get a run of the mill used one really cheap, but trying to decide which seller is trustworthy and whether I really want to start with older technology just isn't an attractive option.
-
REfurbished sounds nice DR CHAS SMITH.
Oh my.....DR BEN's E-reader has become obsolete! Time marches on so quickly....technology wise.
-
Nice clip DR FJL.....I really like Pat and Ann-Margret in STATE FAIR.......
-
Good morning.
-
I have a gift card with which I will purchase my tablet so it's all gravy. I'm also going to get a micro-sd storage card which will come off the gift card as well. I will nose around Walmart today after my eye exam to see what the prices are and I may purchase it today!

Yes I did. I had to look closer at it. I thought it was a performance of the show.
-
It's Saturday morning. Now you know.
-
Nice clip DR FJL.....I really like Pat and Ann-Margret in STATE FAIR.......
I didn't remember Ann-Margret in State Fair, so I looked it up on IMDB. I was treated to an ad about "Dumb and Dumber." *eye roll*
I have an older version of the movie.
-
Good morning!
-
I'm up, I'm up, barely. Barely. I don't think I fell asleep until four-thirty and I was up twice after that, so maybe three and a half hours somewhere in there. Hence, no jog this morning - maybe later.
-
Because I take album producing seriously, I will only say that if you're an amateur/novice at it, you should not be doing a Kickstarter campaign. Two years to get a simple live recording released is nonsense.
-
I do not understand nonsense, but I do understand stuff.
-
I do not understand three hours of sleep.
-
I am not in the least bit hungry, but since I have to clear out of here and kill two and a half hours, that's all there is to do on a Saturday morning. Certainly I'm not going shopping on Pink Saturday.

Where in tarnation IS everyone?

Two years to get a simple live recording released is nonsense.
Agreed!

Nonsensical and unfathomable

We would have had it out in two weeks :) While there can be exceptions where problems arise, as with And the World Goes Round, which took far longer than it should have, it wasn't part of a Kickstarter campaign and it certainly wasn't promised for a certain date. So, I understand problems, but with a live recording there is only so much work to be done. Why it would cost as much as it did is anyone's guess.

My sister (Leslie, who died in October) was very close to my great niece Adara. She's 6 years old and she misses her Aunt Leslie. Leslie always sent a card and a present to Adara on her birthday. Well, her birthday is this Tuesday, December 2nd so in the privacy of her bedroom Adara made a card for herself from Leslie. Her mother (my niece Ashlee) found it today and sent a photo to my other sister who sent it to me. Here are both sides (with birthday mis-spelled and Leslie's name mis-spelled but that adds to the charm. The figure on side 2 is an angel even though it looks like a butterfly and the people holding hands are Adara and Aunt Leslie and there are 2 hearts on the bottom of the page. Oh, to be 6 again and have life be so simple.

Super cute, DR Ben. :)
-
I am trying to re-adjust to the reality of working full time and then having company and/or concerts and/or events every night. How do the common folk do it? ;D
-
I think it will take me most of this weekend to catch up on unread E-mail.
-
I'm done after that until I'm needed for a tech rehearsal at 4:00pm. No actors will be involved...it'll just be the tech people talking through all the tech cues. That also shouldn't take too long. No actors were hurt during this tech rehearsal!
-
It's been frustrating for the writers, which I see from my removed vantage point. There were rights questions that lasted two weeks, and were resolved over a year and a half ago (Summer 2013). They had recorded it three times at Dixon Place, and they were very clear from the beginning that the process would be taking what BD and the mixers were happiest with from all three of the versions of the complete show. I'd imagine that with songs, just figuring out which came out best is an easy process for highly-skilled listeners - but with all of the book becoming subject to almost section-by-section choosing between three versions, I gather it got to be daunting. And it's been evry clear that BD was not working on it AT ALL while he had any acting or directing projects, and also while he was in a very long process of moving, which he would write about very openly in his infrequent Kickstarter updates, to the annoyance of the donors.
And then suddenly, two and a half years have gone by.
Meanwhile, though, the "Lady Day" show which was also a complete one-person show, took a matter of months to get out, so go know.
That's just my view, not Skip's.
-
Regardless of the travails of the campaign, I am so pleased that Skip's Herringbone is finally being released for public consumption.
-
Very lovely DR BEN!
-
TCB, do you still have your aol email address?
-
DR LAURA there is a double DVD set that contains both the 1945 and the 1962 versions of State Fair....and there was a double soundtrack release of both movies (although a lot of the 1962 version wasn't available to include).
I have the DOT soundtrack LP which I really like.......I guess it's on DOT because that's where Pat Boone recorded.....too bad those tapes weren't available, I like a lot of those arrangements....
-
Egad! I haven't tended seriously to my E-mail inbox since Nov 19, and I now need to sift through over 1,500 new unread E-mail messages. I'll bet a lot of them are Black Friday offers.
-
Incidentally, I searched for and found the Nov 23 Herringbone update E-mail. While I wouldn't have called it an invitation at first glance, upon close examination I guess that it was an announcement of the release party.
-
Oh, to be 6 again and have life be so simple.
Amen to that! :)

You're right that at first glance, something about it looks and feels like an announcement rather than an invite. But does the graphic on what you got say things like "invite" and give an RSVP email address
The one I saw, and assumed all backers got since even $25 backers we know got it, said
Yellow Sound Label and BD Wong invite you to celebrate the launch of etc etc
This event is by invitation only
Please RSVP to (and gave an email address along with all details of where and when.)

I should have broken that up to get us to page 3

I am back from my errands, which included trips to a UPS store and the Post Office. I will gave a smackerel and get back to my Encores! work.
The Christmas trees are now for sale on the corner and it smells of pine; the Christmas CDs are on the player.
I stopped by Apt 4C and my neighbor was out, but the dog barked itself into a coma and i need to all my landlord.

Silly post deleted!

But does the graphic on what you got say things like "invite" and give an RSVP email address
It does, indeed! :)
-
I ordered the refurb: iPad Air (not the 2, just plain old Air), 32GB, with new battery (and something else, I forget), plus the cables and whatnot and the full warranty, so it should be like getting an all new package.
Since I'll be new to the Apple world, I opted to have it shipped to the local Apple store, where it's promised that they'll set it up for me so I'm up and running when I leave the store.
-
Back from some sausage and eggs, then picking up no packages.
-
We tried about four times to send you something chocolaty for your birthday, but were thwarted at every turn (or click).
-
So we'll try next week but it may arrive after your birthday.
-
I guess that'll make it a surprise.
-
Well, not really a surprise, but maybe I can spin this into half a page.
-
Or maybe a third of a page.
-
Those who like Criterion video releases, Barnes and Noble have them on sale 50% and if you are a member there is an additional 10% off. I believe the sale ends tomorrow or Monday.
-
Saturday afternoon greetings! My sister picked me up at 10:30 this morning. We delivered her donations to the AAUW book sale site and went to visit DN Lauren for a bit. Home in time to see Fr. Richard off to Lima and the Michigan/Ohio State kickoff. The game didn't end well for the Wolverines, but we had fun watching together. Niece Laura and her dad joined us after tending a bit to Gram and now we're waiting for Rob and Mary Linda to return from Michigan.
-
I live in a huse of cards and if one thing falls apart, more will follow. Yesterday, I decided I would never use again my double deck cassette player/recorder, so I had to unplug it from the amplifier and move a ton of books to get to the plug to unplug it. During the process, i pulled a speaker wire loose so one speaker went dead. Today I tried to repair that and ended up disconnecting both speakers because of the tight space in which the amplifier sits.
It took me all afternoon but the speakers are back up and running and i've been playing lots of Christmas CDs. I've accomplished very little, though, which is not good.

On another thought, is there a stupider holiday song than "The Little Drummer Boy"? That stupid piece works my last nerve.
-
It's an awful song and I really detest it. First of all, here's this woman who's just given birth and probably wonders why God couldn't have offered her some good drugs to deal with it, and this obnoxious shepherd kid shows up and bangs the shit out of this drum in your ear. The baby screams, you're ready to kill, the animals in the stable are raising a racket, the old man you married is worried about registering his family and beating a path to Egypt, and you're sitting in a manger thinking, WTF?
-
I do not understand page three?

Your day could be worse DR ELMORE......you could be like and just wasted 2 1/2 hours watching PRISONERS with Jake & Hugh.

So they sing the tune, ha-rumph, rumph, rumph, rumph
It will be Christmas soon, ha-rumph, rumph, rumph, rumph

According to this online news report, the likes of Seth Rogen and Steven Spielberg have been trying (without luck) to get the movie re-make rights to THE LAST STARFIGHTER

went out and did some errands

Rob and Mary Linda arrived home from Michigan in time to have a short visit with my sister and her family before they went back to their hotel. The kids are upstairs with Allie, who missed them terribly. I am alone downstairs and ready to pass out.

then we had left over Thanks giving dinner

-
I do not understand page four.
-
I went to Gelson's and had some rice, peas and carrots. I just wasn't feeling like anything else, so that's it for this evening and hopefully that will result in some weight loss.
-
I watched one motion picture and am about to watch another.
-
Um, I really do not understand no posts in two hours. Really. We will want to change this right now.
-
On another thought, is there a stupider holiday song than "The Little Drummer Boy"? That stupid piece works my last nerve.
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
-
It was in the 60s today.. VERY nice. They had a thing where you go to 7 small businesses and collect a token to get your name in a drawing. You had to go to all of them. I went this morning and one of my friends told me that very few people had asked him for a token. Of course that was only noon, but very few people shop downtown, so I probably have a good chance to win a prize. There are 7 prizes.
-
Then I washed the car
-
Then I came home and opened up a bunch of windows to get some fresh air in the house while I could
-
Then I did the laundry and cleaned the kitchen
-
Now I'm sitting watching the teenagers compete on chopped, eating popcorn and drinking hot chocolate
-
Tonight the temperature is going to bottom out, tomorrow the high will be 25, 40 some degrees colder than today.
-
I was glad to get outside today and walk a little, air out the house and do the laundry....I have to have the garage open when I run the dryer as the vent goes into the garage. Now I can just stay inside tomorrow
-
I've been so busy at work I haven't been keeping up with cleaning the house. So that's on the schedule tomorrow. Picking up, dusting, running the vacuum, cleaning the bathrooms......or sitting in my recliner. Haven't decided which.
-
I think I have peroneal tendonits. I've had bad ankles pretty much all my life. This seems to be what it is. It flares up from time to time. It's flared up the past week or two. So, that's slowed me down
-
That is the sweetest birthday card I have ever seen.
-
The last time I went shopping on Black Friday it was quite civilized. I think DR Sandra was in preschool.
-
Today I bought compost and will dig it into the ground next week. I live an exciting life.
-
I didn't shop on Friday....Just not worth it to me
-
Nothing could convince me to go out on Black Friday.
-
compost is a very important thing
-
I am very excited that I have nothing that HAS to be done tomorrow. It's the first time in a long time I can say that
-
I'm glad you get to have a day off.
-
Thanks. I'll probably do some cleaning, but only if I really want to
-
I really want to go to the store and find something yummy to cook. Since I went to Sam's, no leftovers from Thanksgiving, I worked through lunch and just grabbed a burger on Friday, today I had a big breakfast and went to pizza ranch for lunch but didn't really eat any dinner. I really want a good home cooked meal. SO...tomorrow morning will likely start with a trip to the store and then I can play in the kitchen. Something I love to do
-
Or not
-
LOL, I guess I'll just see how I feel in the morning
-
Sometimes that's fun.
-
I'm reading a couple good books too, so maybe I'll just read :)
-
I guess it's pretty clear I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do
-
The best kind of day! Will it be too cold to go for a hike?
-
Well we have finished all the leftovers ( well except for just enough for one turkey leftover sandwich)
-
We still have leftovers. I need to get them into the freezer.
-
I had another unexpected nap after eating
-
The best kind of day! Will it be too cold to go for a hike?
Yes. It will be very cold tomorrow. That's why I got out today
-
I may make a JennyO Turkey roast tomorrow so I can have some turkey, it's not the same as roasted turkey, but it's good for me for a couple days
-
Ricky is curled up in the recliner with me
-
I do not understand page five.
-
Finished with my viewing - one turkey, one great.
-
I may write the notes early, schedule them, and go to bed.
-
we are close to page 6
-
Good night, everyone.
-
how close, I wonder?
-
not that close apparently
-
Good Night DR Laura
-
A hike sounds fun, but my ankle has been hurting, so I better not
-
Almost there
-
TA DA!!!!
-
Whew!
-
Ok, Vixmom...take us to page 7 :)
-
I do not understand page six.
-
So, since I didn't really have an appetite earlier, I ate a small thing of rice, peas and carrots - very good. But now, of course, my appetite is back and there's not much in the house and the car is in the garage. I suppose I could go back to Gelson's but I don't really want to. My other option is one of those little frozen pizza things.
-
Well, the frozen pizza thing is out - good only through July 2014. Which leaves me with nothing except some bow tie pasta that I'm making for tomorrow's meal. Which means I should probably get the car out of the garage and get something to eat. Or I could just write the notes and go to bed, but I don't think it's good to be this hungry at bed time.
