Well, you've read the notes, what began as one of THOSE notes turned out fine, and now it is time for you to post until the fine cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NOSOPHOBIA!
-
Good luck with the casting, BK. Hope it's cast the way you envision it.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good Morning. It's early... or at least seems that way.
-
BK's birthday order was all straightened out, and now instead of getting there too late - it will get there too early - possibly even today, but maybe tomorrow.
(We haven't actually tried these, but they LOOKED fascinating on screen so we took a chance - so if they don't taste really good, you can at least enjoy looking at them.)
-
INSIDE OUT is a wonderful show, a real delight when I saw it at the Cherry Lane in NYC ways back. I'm so glad for everyone involved with this production that it is happening.
-
I recall seeing THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT when I was a kid. It was second billed to another film at the Orpheum Theater in Seattle. (Can't recall the other film's title.)
But, I do remember that THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT played under the title of THE CREEPING UNKNOWN.
My favorite Quatermass film is the one that takes place in the London subways. I think it's called QUATERMASS AND THE PIT.
-
Good morning, all.
Had a lousy night's sleep and tried to make up for it a little bit, but it's time now to get up and at 'em.
-
Good morning, all! I slept far too late. O've got some tidying to accomplish and I hope to get some work on the Moross scores in today. I've finished Act One of Paint Your Wagon and I believe that Joshie is bringing me some of Act Two today. If not, I'll take Act One diwn to City Center tomorrow and pick up the music.
-
I've intended for years to ketchup on all the Quartermass films. The only movie version I've seen is the subway one which I only have on DVD. I also have the original BBC TV series, and I have no idea how far I ever got with it. Yes sir, some ketchup is needed.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Today I'm going to make another attempt to visit Mom.
-
So, I'm eating my breakfast and reading Marni Nixon's book. Almost choked on my peanut butter toast when I read: "The rented house on Chesley Avenue was owned by a woman whose niece, Virginia Ellis, was the child prodigy of the area."
Before I married Richard, my name was Virginia Ellis, but I was not a child prodigy.
-
Last night I watched BUNNY LAKE IS MISSING, which I always loved for its style and atmosphere, but I surprised myself by really liking it now in spite of the less than great handling of its plot line in the second half of the film. I look forward to listening to the commentary with Mr. Redman and Ms. Kirgo.
-
I must get the Marni Nixon book.
-
I cannot get into the QUATERMASS films, but that is just me.
Casting vibes for MR BK.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Which movie musical do you think has the most successful singing dubbing......and which do you think is the worse?
-
I cannot get into the QUATERMASS films, but that is just me.
No, DR JRand64, you are not alone on this. I've never understood Dr Who, either.
I've spoken to Joshie and I will see him tomorrow. I'm on to Jerome Moross' Civil War show Gentlemen Be Seated this afternoon.
-
I, too, am a certified member of the Doesn't Get Dr. Who Club.
-
I cannot get into the QUATERMASS films, but that is just me.
Casting vibes for MR BK.
Actually, the only one I really like is QUATERMASS AND THE PIT. The plot up until the last 10-15 minutes is quite intriguing, but the climax and resolution are pretty dumb.
-
Well the comradeship is reconfirming.....
There are a few Dr Who fans here on HHW.....so I shall refrain. I know it is MUCH different now, but the early episodes on PBS were just unappealing to me.....
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Which movie musical do you think has the most successful singing dubbing......and which do you think is the worse?
I think The King and I's dubbing is flawless and I think the same about West Side Story, which I know some will disagree about. Worst? Have to think about that one.
-
I'm up, I'm up. Really having trouble falling asleep this past week - I suppose I got six hours of sleep, maybe a bit more.
-
Gray out, but no rain.
-

Agree withe King and I. Marni Nixon worked with Deborah Kerr so the transitions would be seamless
-
And a good afternoon to all. I got a late start this AM.
And now I am off to the airport to pick up my mother
-
I always think of a question when it isn't ASK BK day and never remember what it is by the time Wednesday arrives. I really should write them down.
-

That is pretty cool to see your name in a book.

I'm listening to Sandy's latest CD (http://www.kritzerland.com/bainum_fun.htm). :)

Well, it's about time...Kiss Me, Kate! (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P9EDGHQ/) is finally being released in 3-D! I have neither a 3-D player nor a 3-D TV, but at least it'll be available if I ever do! :D
-
A Question for BK: now that Sandy has recorded a bunch of your songs, and they've actually been orchestrated, would that make it easier for you to publish a songbook of your songs, since all that work has been done? ;D
-
The idea was to publish a songbook - I just have to have Lanny's lead sheets turned into proper piano/vocal sheet music - I have a guy who'll do it and just have to get him started on it. But we will have it for sure. It will also include Simply and This Christmas, so seventeen songs in all.
-
Back from Costco, and had the visitor this morning. Now I'm whipping up some Wacky Noodles. I'm not sure I'll go to Donald's to do an intro to the radio show - he says he has a lot of Sandy interview and that's probably enough. We shall see. I hope to doze off after eating the noodles - I need to rest.
-
A BK SONGBOOK would be very nice for auditions.

I would definitely look forward to having any and all music BK wishes to make available.
See, there's one sale already!
-
My refurbished iPad is ready for pickup! Not bad, considering they'd estimated Dec. 15th. So, three business days from when I ordered it. I'll go over to the Apple store in a little while, which will be interesting since that will be my first time in one.
-
From DR Cilla:
Bob and I decided to have an office Christmas party. He, his wife and I will go to dinner.
;D Enjoy your "party".
-
Poor Keith had trouble sleeping last night, something to do with my constant coughing. I would have left the room but it was cold in the rest of the house. Around 1:00 I turned off my alarm knowing I wouldn't be hiking today.
We did errands instead and I walked while Keith used the gym. Fortunately it only drizzled at times and I was bundled up.
-
No coughing vibes for DR JANE.
-
Thanks. I decided to clean tomorrow. At this point I'm not up to company arriving. I expect to be better before Saturday but then I didn't expect to be worse today.
-
Finally a screener has arrived. Something called American Sniper.
-
Rite Aid had a sale on my Kleenix, buy 1 & get 1 free. I now have an extra 4 boxes in the house.
-
I had tomato soup for lunch. It was just what I needed.
-
I'll just mention this for those that may not be aware: Page two?
-
I'm currently indulging in a mini can of Pepsi. I drank way too much Coke & Pepsi last week but it helps. One night at dinner I was asked if I wanted Mexican Coke which is apparently is very popular, at least where we were. It is made with sugar vs high-fructose corn syrup that I like to avoid. I was pleasantly surprised that it tasted better than regular Coke.
-
They're keeping my motor car overnight, to make sure the new battery is doing what it should. I'll have to pick it up by ten-thirty in order to make my noon lunch.
-
I should look for Pepsi Throwback which is the original Pepsi formula made with sugar.
-
Bruce, I hope they figure out the problem. Enjoy your loaner for the extra time.
-
No coughing vibes for DR JANE.
~~~Ditto!!~~~
-
Thank you.
-
The Pepsi helped but I can't have that late at night.
-
I now know why I like the chemistry between Tea Leoni and Tim Daly, they are dating. I just wish I liked MADAM SECRETARY more than I do.
-
Looking forward to a bk songbook.
DR Cillaliz--I saw yesterday's post about DirecTV. My understanding is that your antenna has to face south. My balcony faces north.
-
Re dubbing. I had no idea Deborah Kerr wasn't singing--Marni's voice matches perfectly. Not so much with Natalie Wood or Audrey Hepburn, imho.
-
Hope you feel better soon, DR Jane!
-
Watching a very long documentary - I've seen it before and it should and could have been so great, but due to a director who makes it all about himself, with droning, pretentious and awful narration spoken by a voice I cannot stand. A real pity.
-
OK visit with Mom today. Not great, but OK...
OK isn't bad.
No, it isn't, DR Jane. We may have had a significant conversational break-through...
Good evening.
Funny, I just thought our dish was located in a convenient spot.
Hope you feel better soon, DR Jane!
Thank you. For now it isn't too bad.
My friends Emily Skinner and Ray Sheen are in MAME at the Virginia Rep. The wonderful critic Iain reviews it:
No, it isn't, DR Jane. We may have had a significant conversational break-through...
Positive vibes on the break-through.
On the way to Costa Rica we saw my 90 year old aunt. The stress of taking care of my uncle, whom I have learned from my cousin has Alzheimer's. The last time I saw him we had a decent conversation. Now I wonder if he knew who I was. Back to my aunt. I am worried about her now, not that she has Alzheimer's but something disturbing happened while we were talking. My cousin in-law & I told Keith & my cousin about it later.
BTW, this is not the cousin who has the wife that needed/needs mega vibes.
-
I saw that cousin at Thanksgiving.
Well, you've read the notes, what began as one of THOSE notes turned out fine, and now it is time for you to post until the fine cows come home.
what starts like a scary tale . . .
ends like a fairy tale . . .
and life couldn't possibly better be!
-
I am tired. I suppose I'll go to Donald's - it will only take ten minutes and I'll come right back home. Tonight I will definitely write the notes early and schedule and get to bed no later than eleven.
-
So, I'm eating my breakfast and reading Marni Nixon's book. Almost choked on my peanut butter toast when I read: "The rented house on Chesley Avenue was owned by a woman whose niece, Virginia Ellis, was the child prodigy of the area."
Before I married Richard, my name was Virginia Ellis, but I was not a child prodigy.
Perhaps you are just being modest!
-
I'm off to the theater. I need to be there early to help set up our little concessions area...and I do mean little. It's a tiny table at the front entrance of the theater. We will just have candy bars for a $1 donation. Tonight is our only preview with an audience and then we open tomorrow!
Be back later!
wait! That's a blemish corrector? I was told it was for do it yourself liposuction!
-
Tiiiiiired.
-
Nothing political meant by this. Just noting the protestors and demonstrators were loud enough that we could hear them on the 16th floor.
-
It was a slightly scary walk home from work this evening.
-
There must be a lot of people out there. I wouldn't want to be one of them.
-
I now know why I like the chemistry between Tea Leoni and Tim Daly, they are dating. I just wish I liked MADAM SECRETARY more than I do.
I did not know this. But I love the show.
I had another visit with the chiropractor tonight , my back feels looser but my finger keeps hurting
DR Cillaliz--I saw yesterday's post about DirecTV. My understanding is that your antenna has to face south. My balcony faces north.
Yeah, it has to face south. Just thought I'd throw it out there since referrals save both people money
-
Oh thank all the is good and bright and beautiful
Cilla is here !
-
It was a slightly scary walk home from work this evening.
I was wondering about you as I watched on TV and they went from place to place in NYC. I don't think it's political at all to talk about what's happening around your home
-
Cilla if you're not done decorating I have a great idea for you!
-
how about....
Scanning the recipes, they look good. Will have to take more time to look at them later
how about....
LOL, that's my cover photo on FB
I hope she catches up soon
Hurrah! Hello Cilla!
hoo and ray.
The dish has to face south because that's how it gets the satellite signal. That's the best technical answer I can give
I just realized yesterday that I still had some Halloween decorations on one window LOL
I've been crazy busy at work. Still not planning to hire someone, but I'm having to figure out how to prioritize and schedule my time.
That seems so odd to me
I like the decorations, and have gone all out in the past, but just don't anymore. I may take some decorations to the office
I am not disputing it because I haven't got the first clew about Direct TV
That seems so odd to me
Well, I don't know ,,,,found this on a real nerdy site
The DirecTV satellite is 22,300 miles above the earth at the equator. The one you will want is DirecTV 10 at 102.8°W. Which in the U.S. means pretty much South. Exact positioning will depend on where you live.
Get out a globe and mark 103 degrees West Latitude at the equator. Draw a line to where in the U.S. you live. This will tell you the direction you need to point the satellite dish.
DirecTV 5 at 109.8°W
DirecTV 7S at 119.0°W
DirecTV 4S/8 at 101.0°W
-
Everywhere else I have ever worked there were always Christmas decorations, but my boss is Jewish so no decorations
-
I am not disputing it because I haven't got the first clew about Direct TV
I like it actually. I got it years ago when it first came out and cost a fortune. Then I went to cable and am now back.
-
We had a Jehovah's Witness work at the FPD. We couldn't celebrate anything
-
Edith wasn't much into Christmas....or anything else remotely religious
OK that actually makes sense to me with my limited understanding of anything technical or scientific
I'm going to have to go down the basement and dig out some decorations. I have a tree in the garage storage. Hmmm this could be fun
-
Not right now, though
The JW was just one of the employees? That also seems odd to me that one employee's religion coudl "trump" everyone elses.... in my case it is the owner/sole proprietor/attorney so its his firm and he gets to decide...
-
I'm thinking no new clients the rest of the month. I've got to catch up and if I can get enough money saved up, I'm going to take a good chunk of time off at the end of the month
-
It also seems odd to me that I would post almost a full page of recipes for absolutely no apparent reason
my boss was paranoid that we do anything that may offend her. So we just said skip it
-
and oddly enough I am now feeling peckish
-
But they look like good recipes so that's fine
-
peckish?
-
I wonder if I have any brussel sprouts in the house
-
peckish?
peck·ish
ˈpekiSH/
adjective
Britishinformal
adjective: peckish
hungry.
"we were both feeling a bit peckish and there was nothing to eat"
-
Hmmm just turned on TV, they are still marching around NYC. At least it doesn't look violent
-
AH! Peckish...I'll have to use that and see if people understand. as in "I'm feeling a bit puckish, do you have anything that can help?" and see what I get, lol
I think you can only say that at MidSummer
:)
The cats were almost overly friendly to me when I came home tonight, then they went down the basement and I heard a heck of a fight going on. I yelled and told them they'd have to go to their rooms if they didn't stop. I don't know why that works but it does. Anyway, they were all sort of cowering in the room with the glass doors. My guess is a raccoon was outside the door again. They get all sorts of transferred aggression when that happens and I have to nip it in the bud so no one gets hurt. When they realize it's just them they are nice again. Cats
Oh lookee lookee we found page 6!!
I am getting sleepy and want to read a chapter or two of a book I'm enjoying. It's called The Dirt farmer's Son. Or something like that. It's a memoir of a guy who grew up here in the area I live in back in the 30s and 40s. It's very interesting from a historical perspective. He could have used a good editor, but despite having to wade through it, I like it
-
If I was as clever as FJL I would have written a song by now about peckish and puckish
-
Well I think our work here is done maybe George will show up to button up the night
I am off to eat pie, thank you for reminding me it was there!
-
Goodnight!
LOL!!! Ricky is my cat who knocks things over. He is mesmerized by pens. As in ink pens. He loves to knock them on the floor.
A job well done. Good night Vixmom
Where is TCB? Hope everything is ok
-
I think I'm done for the night. I'll probably stay awake for a few pages and then nod off.
-
I spy JohnG
-
Insanely busy lately. Will catch up later. But in the meantime, here's a friend of TCB's at the world premiere of his latest movie, "The One I Wrote for You."
