Well, you've read the notes, the notes were for the birds and the worms, and now it is time for you to post until the early cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MANSUETUDE!
-
Last night's performance of "The HEAD! That Wouldn't Die!" went off without a hitch AND we had a fairly decent sized audience...more than the night before! With the new configuration, we only have about 36 or 37 seats, as opposed to the 42 that we had before, but it's a better configuration for this show, so we'll live with fewer seats.

Mine didn't arrive at work, but I don't remember if the shipping address was my work or home. Hopefully, I'll find out soon enough. Of course, I could just log into Kickstarter and look.
;)

I looked...it'll be sent to my work. Hopefully, I'll get it sooner rather than much later.

It's quarter to three...
There's no one in the place
Except you and me...

Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning!

TOD:
I think that the first PETER PAN I saw was the Disney animated movie...or the Mary Martin telecast, whichever came first.
My younger brother (by 5 years) was fixated on Peter Pan. My mother even made him a Peter Pan costume and he used to run around the house in it all the time.
He was 30.
:D

Good morning, all! I will be off to Toyland momentarily. I've not been there in nearly two weeks and I will schlep home more items. I need to use the scanner there to send some Moross corrections to my co-editor.
When i'm back, i'll finish up the Entr'Acte for Paint Your Wagon and jump into "Hand me Down that Can of Beans." I have nine days to finish Act Two.
I saw the first Peter Pan broadcast in 1955 as well as the second in 1956. I had already seen and loved the 1953 Disney version. I don't believe I got the recording of the Mary Martin OBC until I got a 3-speed record player for Christmas in 1956.
-
BK,
Did you know that Ed Gaynes was one of the lost boys in the Mary Martin PETER PAN?
-
Good morning to all

A strange thing is that people who Kickstarted are not seeming to be getting the CD earlier than those who pre-ordered from Amazon or some place like that.
The Kickstarter donors who are in the NY area and were able to come to the party were treated to quite an elegant do, with extraordinary efficient waiter service and food that came from the very best of the dishes from the 44 and X restaurant, and were handed their copy of the CD, so for the folks in the NYC area, it looks like BD and the label more than came through with flying colors. A couple of Kickstarter donors had even trained in from Vermont and said enthusiastically that they were very happy with the whole event.
Hoping they can think of something "extra" to give, for the benefit of the Kickstarter donors who live away from the city, though.
Even if whatever that "extra" could be comes later, hoping they think of something.

I first saw Peter Pan on one of its many annual rebroadcasts with Marty Martin.
Then I saw The Flying Sequence that was part of Jerome Robbins' Broadway and it was magical.
Then I saw Cathy Rigby in Montreal on one of tours. Was reviewing it for my radio at the time. Her amazing spins and tumbles and athletic prowess made it amazing and wish it would go on longer.
When it was later taped for A & E when it was an "Arts & Entertainment" network they digitally removed the wires. The broadcast was a shorten version and the home video version was complete. I know it was filmed in a theater but can't remember if there was audience present or not.

When I watched the complete 1952 London Cast (with some replacements) of South Pacific it was done without an audience. It was strange at time because they performed it as if there was audience and would hold for a moment as if they were waiting for applause and then went on.
It was great to see Mary Martin in one of her iconic roles.
-
It's Saturday. I have a lot of things to do today.
-
I first saw Peter Pan with Mary Martin on television.....probably the 1960 version....
BUT there was an episode of MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY wherein Danny (a widower) had taken Rusty and Terry (this was 1955 or so) to see PETER PAN on Broadway, and Rusty started sitting in his window waiting for Peter Pan to come and get him.....I don't remember what the resolution was.....but that was the first time I had ever heard of it.
I think at one time I saw the Walt Disney movie, but it didn't like it much.
-
Oh....it's online. And this was before Jean Hagen left the show....I must have seen this in the afternoon reruns. ;D

Saturday morning greetings! I'll be away a lot today, first with my AAUW friends on a cultural outing to tour the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati (http://www.cincinnatiislamiccenter.org). When I get home from that, Richard and I are going on some errands and a dinner date in the Dayton Mall area.
-
DR JRand, please tell me this rain is going to clear out of here soon! If it had been cold enough the last few days, we'd be snowbound for sure.
-
TOD - I must have seen one of the early Mary Martin broadcasts in the fifties because I remember watching it in the living room of the home we left in 1959. I was an adult, and parent, before I saw the Disney version, which paled in comparison. Middletown's Summer Youth Theatre did PETER PAN with Leanna Renee Hieber (http://www.leannareneehieber.com/about-1) in the title role. It was one of the best high school musicals I've ever seen. That's my only experience with a stage version.

Good morning, all.

Welcome to MacWorld, DR ChasSmith!
-
Thank you, DR Ginny! My first foray into the world o' Apple is going quite nicely (nicely), all things considered, even while I have much to learn... some of which I'm going to get into this very day.

Greetings from Toyland!

I'm up, I'm up. I think I got a decent amount of sleep - hard to tell because I think I "thought" I was up when in reality I was dreaming I was up.
-
Ed Gaynes was not in the 1955 broadcast, I don't think. I think he was in the color broadcast.
-
Will we never see page 2?
-
DR Singdaw I'm glad your manager accepted your actions.
-
And I am home. Traffic on 6th Avenue is really bad.

I'm up, I'm up. I think I got a decent amount of sleep - hard to tell because I think I "thought" I was up when in reality I was dreaming I was up.

I am suddenly very sleepy.

I'm enjoying it. I was listening in the car and forgot it there. I'm going to have to bring it in the house. I think I'm going to do some baking, so it would be fun to listen to while I bake
-
I woke up today with really watery eyes. Don't know if I'm catching a cold or what, but I decided to get the house cleaned up. So I got out the humidifier, cleaned it up and put a new filter in it. It really helped in here. I still have more cleaning to do, but for now am just sitting
-
This year instead of getting presents for the cats, I went to the Humane Society and sponsored a couple cats.
-
Good evening. Today I saw the tour of Pippin. It was awesome.
-
For a second there, Cillaliz, I thought you were going to say you adopted a couple more cats.
-
On, Wisconsin!

I figured that. Is your copy "a gorgeous six-panel digipak designed by Asaf Shakham"? That's the description on Kickstarter, and the copy that I'm getting is supposed to be autographed. Of course, mine also cost two and a half times what yours probably did...but I'm not complaining (a Maltby and Shire reference ;) ).

Maybe a second copy of the CD AND the autographed poster. Wishful thinking, I know.

Yes, he was in the 1960 telecast.
-
And now, it's time for me to head to the theater. It's our last performance for the first weekend. We have some presold tickets, so that's good! After tonight's show, we're having a cast party at the theater, so that'll go kind of late.
Be back...when I get back!
-
elmore, thanks for sharing the review, which I hadn't seen.
-
Back from Doug Haverty's holiday party. Met a nice family there and invited them to our show tomorrow night and they're coming.

I'll have to look - it's still in the car, I ended up running the vacuum, changing the sheets on the bed and doing more cleaning. Something in this house was making my eyes water. Since the Claritin took care of it, it must be an allergy. Between the cleaning and the humidifier, I think it's a lot better in here.
-
very nice reviews for BK and Elmore
-
And well deserved thery are
-
I can't believe we're on page 3, where is everyone?

-
he Santa Lucia Festival was very nice and the swedish meatball dinner was delicious
-
everyone kept coming up to me to compliment me on the meatballs and gravy, which I found confusing because I didn't cook it
-
It turns out that the person who did make it used my recipe f that i used when I cooked for the soup kitchen and kept giving me the credit for the meal!
-
after the meal another of the volunteers and I drove to BJs and picked up all the cold cut platters and fruit and stuff for the party in the morning then went back and unloaded it all and put out all the tablecloths to save time in the morning

Elvis at 80.. so he would have been 80? Wow. That's a crazy thought

Watching The Theory of Everything.

I wash dishes at church for 40 people, and I'm weary. I don't know how Vixmom does it, either.

I love my new watch. It is my Christmas present. I'll get a little money from mom and dad, not enough to cover it, but I'll tell them it does :)
-
It's not crazy expensive, but it's nice. I really don't wear rings or earrings, or bracelets....but I love watches

Ok, better sign off. I want to read a little bit

Damn! I keep getting kicked off of wifi.

But I see that Chas is here.

Six!

Let 'em eat cake.
-
I must be going. I am not having a good evening.
-
Did I mention we're doing a songbook of my stuff? We are. All the songs on Sandy's album plus Simply and This Christmas - seventeen songs in all. I'm very excited about it. The guy is already at work creating the piano/vocal music, which is not going to be difficult thanks to really good piano/vocal Finale files from Lanny. Just deciding on the cover now.
-
But I see that Chas is here.
Do you believe everything you see?
-
Damn it to hell.
I just ate two little things of candy (Mr. Goodbar and Reese's PB Cup miniatures) and now I want more.
-
More is always acceptable.

Late bird here replying to Bruce's most recent entry. No worm at all!
PETER PAN, my most favorite show as a child! Discovered first at Disneyland as a wee thing. Remember seeing Tinker Bell fly through the sky over the Magic Castle --- that was it, I was smitten by the story.
Then came reading the book, then saw the musical with MARY MARTIN at that theatre in the round in Woodland Hills--- I think? When she started flying around --- live --- it was pure magic. When she sang "I've Gotta Crow", I thought she was a real boy!
Of course there was the Disney animated version, which was not nearly as fun as the live musical.
Then HOOK---- err, no comment.
The last time round was seeing HENRY WINKLER in a "panto" version of Peter Pan in London, with our twins when they were little tykes. He played a schmaltzy Captain Hook, but reveled in it, the production is very irreverent, but great fun.
-
Nope you didn't see Mary Martin at Valley Music Theater. I am a fountain of knowledge and can tell you you saw Janet Blair as Peter, and even better, Vincent Price as Captain Hook.
-
I daren't contradict the fount of knowledge!
Yes I do remember Vincent Price as Hook…. he was very dashing. Valley Musical Theatre was fantastic---- my first experience seeing theater in the round, and we were up close. Somehow I don't remember focussing on the wires at all. Peter really flew, and that was that.
It was Christmastime, it was chilly out, the light was low in the sky, bare trees, and the drive from West Hollywood seemed very far. Those were the days you got dressed up to see the theatre, and the show programs were huge, heavyweight and collectible.
-
I saw Call Me Madam there with Ethel Merman and Russell Nype, and I also saw Medea (yes, Virginia, they did MEDEA) with Judith Anderson and Marian Seldes. When I was recording Elegies, I was introduced to Miss Seldes, who was in it, and I told her I'd seen her do that in the round. She threw her head back and laughed and said, "I never knew where I was in that stupid place - it was ROUND!"
