HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAKE DAY TO THE DEAREST OF DEAR READERS JANE
-
Happy happy birthday to dear Jane!!!
-
Good morning, all.
Another day in which I will be scarce around these parts, at least until later this evening. Book signing, cookie exchange and party.
What I'd like is a nap.
-
Happy birthday, Jane! Hope it's a great one.
-
Dance competition was loooooooooooooong. I was down at the hotel by 7:30 a.m. and didn't get home until after midnight. The competition itself ran from 8 a.m. until after 7 p.m. We danced early and danced in heat 400 out of 409.
By the end of the evening, one of my partners, Joy, and I won best amateur couple and took first in our championship round. I was also named best country-western male dancer, which I find hilarious because they were the dances shortly after 8 a.m. and I was embarrassed by them. Joy said it was probably because everyone else out there was worse.
-
Happy Happy Birthday, Dear Jane!
-
Last night, we ventured out to Brooklyn for a 21st birthday party for one of my cousins from Scranton. The place was very festive, and the food was excellent, and I got to meet some really delightful extended-family members I'd never met before.
-
It was also nice to go back to my old neighborhood of Brighton Beach/Coney Island, which is where the birthday boy's lovely grandmother lives when we stopped by there to pick her up on the way to the restaurant.
-
His birthday was actually last Tuesday, but it made more sense to celebrate on the weekend since his group was coming in from Pennsylvania.
-
Many congrats to John G on his dancing triumphs!
-
Show vibes to BK!!!
-
Happy Birthday, DR Jane! Hope it's fun!
-
Great dancing results DR JohnG!

There was a lovely obituary for the dear activist and WBAI radio host Marle Becker, who died the day after Thanksgiving at 71. So much accomplishment, but I knew him mostly as the guy who played cards with my parents in Florida for such a long time. (The last time I actually spoke with him directly, as opposed to leaving messages and emails, was when he called my Mom to wish her a happy birthday a few months back during one of my Florida visits.) A wonderful human being who helped make a difference.

This afternoon is our December board meeting.....and then later this evening is the read thru for ANTIGONE.....both of which should be interesting in part.
-
DR CILLA LIZ.....once Jodi Arias finally sentenced....hopefully before summer.....will the state still pay for her counsel for her appeals? I thought that appeals were paid for by the defendant, but I may be wrong. I think Arizona has already paid about $2.7 million dollars to her attorneys, and that's enough.....
-
Bradley Cooper opens as THE ELEPHANT MAN on Broadway tonight.......
-
A beautiful day here today. Sadly, we're supposed to get some combination (it's different on every weather site) of precip at certain times (this, too, is different on every weather site) of Tuesday and/or Wednesday and/or Thursday this week. I really wish this could be one of those drier than normal winters. Temperature, who cares, I just want less of the bad stuff.

Happy Birthday to our very own

Chas how are you loving your iPad?
I'm loving it and having a great time with it! I guess the most interesting thing is getting my feet wet in the Apple world for the first time, but that's going quite well and I'm TOTALLY happy I went with the iPad instead of some other tablet.

I'm up, I'm up. What a wacko night. I wrote the notes early, scheduled them, changed the topic and was in bed by 11:45. I think I finally fell asleep around twelve-thirty. At three I was awakened by two loud electronic beeps. Now, what two loud electronic beeps usually signifies in the home environment is that a zone has been breached or opened, i.e. a door or window. I was up like a shot (probably not the smartest thing) and checked the alarm panel, but it seemed regular to me and didn't say anything like Zone 1, which I thought it would. So, back to bed I went and about ten minutes later I heard it again. This time I got a little fear in me and I stayed put, listened for intruders, heard nothing, but obviously couldn't fall asleep. I finally got up about a half hour later. Again I checked the alarm panel and noticed an asterisk next to the date - so I checked the doors and all was well - then it came to me what it probably was and I went to the guest bathroom and lo and behold and also behold and lo one of the guests yesterday had opened one of the windows therein and left it open without mentioning it. I rarely go in there. In fact, it happened at the Thursday rehearsal, but that one I did see and close. So, I closed it and went back to bed with no further incident of beeping. The question is, why wasn't it beeping repeatedly, why only twice, and why didn't it say Zone whatever instead of an asterisk? I may call the alarm company and ask. So, all in all I suppose I got seven or eight hours of sleep.
-
I'm glad you figured out the problem.
-
DR cillaliz, i agree with DR vixmom: it's never too late for cake. i wish I had a slice for breakfast.
DR TCB, how are you feeling?
I ate it this morning. It's good cake but it's a heavy cake and the frosting is VERY sweet. I didn't want to eat that right before I went to sleep
-
DR CILLA LIZ.....once Jodi Arias finally sentenced....hopefully before summer.....will the state still pay for her counsel for her appeals? I thought that appeals were paid for by the defendant, but I may be wrong. I think Arizona has already paid about $2.7 million dollars to her attorneys, and that's enough.....
If she's indigent, which she is, the state pays her attorneys. In some states they order a defendant to repay the state, but realistically that doesn't happen in cases where the person is going to be doing a long stint in prison
-
No-more-alarm vibes for BK!
-
Happy birthday, Jane! Hope it's a great one.
Thank you John. I am off to a god start.
A god start is good on a Sunday morning....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANE!!!!!!!
-
Well, I've almost got the laundry done. Which means I don't have too much more I can do to procrastinate doing the billing for the office. It has to be done. It won't be that big a job once I dig in and do it....bleh....it's my least favorite part of running a business but HAS to be done
-
I do want to run to the store. I'm really in the mood for a bottle of Pop. I don't have any in the house - I usually don't have it here, so it will require venturing out.
-
I really want to take a nap.
-
Or maybe bake cookies and listen to Herringbone
-
I'm really liking what I've heard so far....yes, DR GEORGE the cardboard cover has 6 sides or whatever you called it. No autograph or anything like that.
-
I'm really liking what I've heard so far....
Great to hear that, Cilla.
-
Congratulations to our very own twinkle-toes, DR John G.!!!!!!!!
-
Well she's raked in $40,000 in donations for her appeal, so hopefully they will get that.
-
We attended Rob and Mary Linda's church this morning, then went to lunch with them at Panera. Richard and I then bought Mom some Panera pastries and headed to see her. She was pleased with the sweets and let me have a lot of paperwork that I need to get a better picture of her financial situation. We're hoping for an appointment this week to talk about alternative (more assistive) living arrangements for her.
-
Congratulations to our very own twinkle-toes, DR John G.!!!!!!!!
Ditto!
-
Back from a two-mile jog and shall now relax a bit until it's time to get ready.
-
And now I must be off.....I do not know when or IF I shall return......them Greek plays is long!
-
I play the blind prophet Tiresias.....I just hope it doesn't turn out to be like Jean Kerr once wrote about Gloucester in Lear:
First they put his eyes out, now they're going to talk his ears off.
-
From 4am 'til 6am today I could not sleep because my mind kept racing with MomAAUWChristmasMomAAUWChristmasMomAAUWChristmas over and over.
Now that we're home from church, lunch, and visiting Mom, I don't feel like dealing with any of it.
-
Relaxing still. In thirty minutes I'll start to get ready, I guess.
-
So, I've done a little AAUW work and a little Christmas prep and can't really take the next step on Mom until the social worker returns to work tomorrow, so maybe I can sleep tonight.
-
SO, I was watching Diners, Drive ins and Dives. It was all about Mexican food and the more I watched the hungrier I got, so I went to my favorite Mexican place and had a big lunch in the middle of the afternoon.
-
SLEEP VIBES TO GINNY!!!!!!
-
Congrats to JohnG!
-
It's been a foggy drizzly dreary day. Luckily it hasn't frozen yet.
-
I shall now be on my way to The Federal for sound check and show.
-
I got through two numbers today, so that makes me happy.
Now here's a question: does anyone find Wikipedia as maddening and difficult as I do? I can get no no answer my questions, i do not understand how to use their "Talk" to communicate, and i am mostly frustrated by the situation.
-
DR John, congratulations on your danci8ng prowess!
-
DR Elmore, I have no idea how to use Wikipedia like that. I usually just get linked to it from Google or somewhere. I didn't even know you cold ask questions or chat
-
I was so happy to read that Bigsy and Paws, the cats I sponsored yesterday were adopted together. I was a bit concerned after I paid the sponsorship that the reduction in fees on each may lead to one of them being adopted without the other even though the shelter said they wanted them to be together. Whew! I am so happy
-

I watched that one too! Looked so yummy.
-
That is great for the cats.
-
That is wonderful for Paws and Bigsy.
-
So, uh, does anyone here watch RuPaul's Drag Race? Is it on cable? I am not familiar with the show.
-
SLEEP VIBES TO GINNY!!!!!!
Thanks, DR Cillaliz. I don't think it helped that I skipped lunch yesterday, today I've eaten much more regularly.
-
Well, I finally get a few hours to rest. I'm starting off with my first viewing this holiday season of "The Ref." Nothing like screaming dysfunctionals to get you in that Christmas spirit.
-
Opening scene with B.D. Wong, star of Herringbone!
-
Show vibes for BK and company!
-
Thank you, all, for the nice messages.
-
I've been home in bed all day just watching a LOT of TV and a bit of eating, and now I'm finally out of bed. ;D
-
If it's not too late...
~~~Break Legs Vibes for BK and the Kritzerland Holiday Show Cast!!~~~
-
And a Very Happy Birthday to DR Jane!! :D
-
As for last night's "The HEAD! That Wouldn't Die!" performance...it was a sold out house! Of course, it's a small house, but sold out is sold out! And it was a really good performance. People have really been enjoying it.
-
We have two more weekends, and I also found out that if we sell really well for the rest of the run, they might consider extending it after the new year. A couple of people are leaving town right after our regularly scheduled performances, but they'll be back. We have nothing else scheduled in the space, so that's not a problem, at all. :)
-
And now, I need to ketchup on yesterday's posts.
-
Yesterday, BK wrote:
Did I mention we're doing a songbook of my stuff? We are. All the songs on Sandy's album plus Simply and This Christmas - seventeen songs in all. I'm very excited about it. The guy is already at work creating the piano/vocal music, which is not going to be difficult thanks to really good piano/vocal Finale files from Lanny. Just deciding on the cover now.
It's about time! Not that I'd really have an opportunity to perform any of them, but that's pretty cool! One song that I'd love to have the sheet music to is "Getting Away With You" from Guy Haines' CD, "New Guy In Town." Of course, that was written by Jonathan Goldman, but since it was sung by Guy Haines, I think that it could be included.
;)
Congratulatiosn George on your sold out house
Happy birthday, Jane! Hope it's a great one.
Thank you John. I am off to a god start.
I'm now watching and recording Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. Wow...she's definitely got some chops! And in my opinion, a little too much cleavage. :o
But that's just me.
This is extremely nice!!!
I paid enough on the sponsorship that it would be almost two for the price of one. The shelter said they would also give a deal if someone kept them together, so I'm guessing the right people came along and got them for almost nothing. They did tell me there was a family that had been in and really seemed to get along great with the cats. I'm hoping that they came back
-
I'm now recording "Peter Pan Live!" onto my sister's boyfriend's laptop so that he can make a Blu-ray for me. He probably won't get to it for several months, but in the meantime, I was able to make a standard DVD, which is what I'll send out to people who've requested them. :)
-
Got the billing all figured out. Tomorrow just have to print it off the flash drive and mail it. I'm getting quicker at it every month
-
Congrats George! Sounds like things are going well
This cow really came home!!
-
Time for me to go to bed. Didn't mean to stay up this late Night
-
Back from a grand evening of entertainment, followed by some noodles with butter, some salad and a half of a piece o' pizza. More in the notes.
-
But as I was about a begin the sing-a-long we always do at the end of our shows, Michael Sterling came up and the entire cast surprised me with a big happy birthday. My former helper Amy made cupcakes for the entire audience. Amazing.
-
I wonder if I'll be able to sleep tonight? I have an eleven-thirty late birthday breakfast and will have to leave for that around 11:10 so must be up by ten.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
I, on the other hand, have eaten four of these teeny-tiny cupcakes. Thank goodness that's all they gave me because I could eat these until the cows come home.
-
Christopher Walken just looks like he's staring at a tele-prompter.
