Well, you've read the notes, the notes were relaxing and peaceful except for the part about the iPhone, and now it is time for you to post until the relaxing and peaceful cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FAMULUS!
-
Good morning, all!
I could not get to sleep last night, but it wasn't because of the dog. I was very sleepy, but I just couldn't get into into a sleep mode, so I lost about two hours of intended sleep. I am up particularly early because i want to be at the post office early to ship a package.
Then, i'm back to work.
-
Making-it-through-the-day vibes to Larry! Maybe a quick nap is in order after the post office.
-

-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
This is an
Aldi's (https://www.aldi.us/)
-
Matthew, nice to see you again. And you do look good and healthy!
-
I had a thought about Deb/Vixmom and some of her "typing woes"
She can blame it on autocorrect!
I have to see if I can turn that function off. I'm a real typist, though you can't be on a tablet, unless you have a keyboard attached so I rarely look at the screen so it's a shock to see changes to your text that you didn't make and that you know you typed correctly but the system decided to change.
-
It's not horrible weather right now so I may go out after all to check DVDs at Barnes and Noble and Best Buy.
Damn Acorn TV on Roku. Anthony's father is watching shows that are on DVD and now we won't be able to buy him the set we thought about. We have to find something else.
-
Tom, I got a clock for my 15th at the Foundation Center. It is a universally reviled gift but despite all the derision and snark they insist on giving it out, though there are not many long-term employees down the pike who might pick up that time piece.
-
I just finished breakfast, a change for me. I had a hard boiled egg, applesauce with cinnamon and raisins, a small piece of cheese and coffee. No oatmeal this morning even though it's 37 degrees and wet and rainy.
-
And now I must get out and about. More tree work and then a foray into the wilds of Barnes and Noble.
BTW, I also don't like taking pictures with a tablet. It's WAY too big. I see people doing it all the time and the quality of the photos is good but the action of taking the pictures is too tedious for me to do. I prefer a camera. I'm too old-fashioned for this world. I expect to get a notice from the young crowd soon that I will be moved to the old folks camp for the terminally cranky!
-
Elmore I am sorry about your dog woes have you spoken to your neighbor yet?
She's never home when I stop by. Only the barking dog is home.
-
DR vixmom, now you must come to my apartment and help me remove my old sound equipment.
DR Matthew, the new avatar is great!
-
I'm too old-fashioned for this world. I expect to get a notice from the young crowd soon that I will be moved to the old folks camp for the terminally cranky!
Expect me to join you, Ben! I'm so behind the times! Well, at least we'll have fun all being crank together!
-
I expect to get a notice from the young crowd soon that I will be moved to the old folks camp for the terminally cranky!
I'm afraid that has already happened to me. Take the seat next to mine.
-
Good morning, all.
I believe I have a rehearsal this afternoon. At the high school.
That's it! Rehearsal at the High School. The next chapter in the memoirs.
-
I am with alla youse on the auto-correct and the absurd taking of pictures with a tablet and... and... those damn kids!
-
Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and thoughts!
-
What a lovely video, DR Jrand64 - really enjoyed it!
-
DR Matthew - great to see you back, and glad that you are feeling healthier! The avatar looks great.

And another thing. Along with the auto-correct, the auto-fill feature on my phone. It's often very helpful ... but when it isn't, watch out!
It apparently doesn't know anything about contractions, and offers up the most bizarre choices for "I'll", "don't", and the like, none of which are correct.
And unless there's a setting I don't know about, it doesn't remember anything you accept as a word to build up a personal dictionary, so you go through life pecking the same things out every day.

TOD
I'm pretty certain my worst technology nightmare would be computer oriented, but there have been a few doozies and at this point I'm not even sure I care to revisit them.
But you know what's sad? It's the fact that these nightmares happen so easily to people who are quite well versed in understanding their computer or phone or whatever it is. Speaking for myself: I am not my parents, or a newbie in any way, and in a couple of years it will have been thirty -- count 'em -- thirty years since I sat, amazed, in front of my first computer. And I ran with that amazement and learned a lot of things about how to use the contraptions.
-
And yet, these things happen.
("These things happen!..." -- you have to imagine Ethel Merman braying that to Milton Berle in Mad World.)
-
So wonderful to have DR Matthew back!!!
-
Nice new avatar from DR MATTHEW.
Fun to read in the notes about MR BK's birthday adventures.
Thanks again to all who commented on the video....it was fun to make.
-
Continued condolences to DR SINGDAW and JAYSON on the passing of their canine companion.
-
DR BEN's link is correct....Aldi's in a grocery emporium....good stuff....low prices.....you bring your own bags and sack the stuff yourself, but I spent about $143 on what would have cost close to $200 even at WalMart.
-
I've had an hour in the rain, which was grisly, but not as bad as I feared. The pst office was empty and I was home in no time. The worst part was the wait in the rain, foolishly trying to hail a cab. I shoulda just hopped on a bus as I ended up doing, rather than standing in the street and getting wet.
-
Did I post this photo of my adopted son Joshie and his brother Jeremy at their violin lesson?
-
Good morning.
Great video, JRand.
-
Singdaw, I am so sorry to hear about Zach.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Last night was AAUW Middletown's festive December meeting, which opened with a performance by the Middletown High School show choir, Purple Pizzazz. We then had a business meeting and delightful social time, but Madame President was exhausted afterwards and collapsed into bed about 10pm.
-
DR Singdaw, condolences to you and Jayson on Zach's passing...
-
Thank you to DRs TCB and Vixmom for their kind comments about my birthday story.
-
Welcome back to DR Matthew - you've been missed!
-
Nice photo DR ELMORE - I don't remember seeing it.
We had an ugly sweater contest at our board meeting on Sunday night. Here are the winner, on the right, and the runner up.

TOD:
Passwords are my nemesis.......on my new to me iPhone 5, I can't get my password to work for APPS or iTunes or whatever it is......I wrote it down, so I know it's correct. When it doesn't work, I go online and change it......still no good.....
So I know I am not using a lot of features that are available to me.
I also have voice recognition texting that converts my speaking to texts or messages, but it doesn't recognize one of my brother's names.....I say Kent and it types can't.
-
Good morning, all.
Listening in on the quarterly meeting while I work from home. I like working for a financially stave company.
I wish the same for Elmore.
-
Tod: I hate it when I have to be somewhere for photos, etc. and the camera or phone camera doesn't work.
-
Christmas shopping frustration: My mother, who needs nothing that can be bought, is very fond of Fannie May chocolates. I found something in their catalog that I thought would please her and got online to order it. Not only was that out of stock, almost nothing was available. I called and found out about THIS (http://www.cleveland.com/maple-heights/index.ssf/2014/11/fire_marshal_investigating_cau.html).
DR Elmore, this is the warehouse for the company where you bought chocolates that we delivered to Jo after seeing you in Canton, OH, several years ago.
-
Oh my goodness....DR GINNY......Fannie May.....what a terrible thing.....and what terrible timing! I bet the neighborhood still smells good, though.
-
Ginny: Would See's be an acceptable substitute brand? See's makes incredible chocolates.
-
Tuesday, December 9, 2014...."Meh!"
-
I have two more work days left in this year.
-
So much to do, so little time....

So little to do, so much time...

Ginny: Would See's be an acceptable substitute brand? See's makes incredible chocolates.
Yes, DR Ron, that's a possibility. When she lived in Phoenix she said her car knew the way to See's all by itself. We also have a good local chocolatier - Esther Price.
-
TOD - O.M.G. Don't even get me started. The iCloud is indeed my nemesis as it NEVER works the way it should. You save something on the iCloud, you should be able to access it on any device that can access the iCloud. Well... .as long as ALL devices are updated and all the planets are aligned does this concept work well at all. I've done things at home in the evening for school the next day, saved to the iCloud and then to find them NOT THERE the next day, or takes FOREVER to download onto the other device. I have to remember just to save everything to DropBox and leave it at that. DropBox is my savior, and I've accepted that.
-
Thank you all for the lovely avatar comments. The last three months will be included in the memoirs.

Jrand, maybe you need the Internet Password Notebook (http://www.amazon.com/Internet-Password-Notebook-pocket-sized-organizer/dp/1450582060): A pocket-sized Internet address organizer for all of your usernames and passwords!

good afternoon to all
-
DR GEORGE - I have one of those.....it's not that I forget the Passwords - it's that for some reason The Inner Web says they won't work.....
EVERY password is written down, and old passwords are stricken out.....but it is to no avail.

Today is the 42nd wedding anniversary of my sister Paula and her husband Larry. They have three lovely children....Amanda, Emily, and Lance.

As you can see, we spared no expense in decorating the local firehouse that was the scene of the reception. NO OTHER facility was available....there is some holiday or something in December that makes people want to have celebrations!

Happy Anniversary to Paula and Larry!
-
Well. Here I am.
-
Happiest of anniversaries to Paula and Larry!
-
I got only about six hours of sleep, if that. As soon as I was coherent at eight in the morning, I called Apple Care. I told the gal what had happened and she was as confused as I. After some time, we were able to restore the phone from the Cloud with the new Apple ID and password we'd created at the store, so the phone was exactly as I had it before restoring from the old phone backup. So, that was good. Then she got me to a senior advisor and finally we have changed all the Cloud stuff to the new Apple ID and password on every device - iMac, iPhone and iPad. Now everything should work and the only different password will be for iTunes, which I'm keeping the way it was since it has all my purchases on it, not that I have ever purchased much at all.
-
That all took about ninety minutes, but the phone is working splendidly. The only problems were texts, which I'll lose I guess from the other phone, and iRecorder - but I put all the iRecorder stuff into iTunes and so I'm fine there. But I talked to someone else who recently went through this, and she told me that about a week into owning the phone all her old texts showed up. That makes sense to me since it's the same phone number and all - but if they don't, I'm fine.
-
Then it was directly to Dr. Chew, who put in the permanent porcelain cap quickly and easily. Twenty minutes and done and it feels so much better and obviously is completely secure.
-
Then I made the lunch meeting right on time. That was fun. I had mac-and-cheese, which was yummilicious. Then I picked up some packages, including a sweet and lovely gift from our very own TCB - a real what is it fish give of smoked salmon. Yummy for the tummy.
-
Helper will be over to do Christmas decor and to retrieve her brand new iPhone 5S - my old phone, which we'll wipe clean.
-
Thanks DR GEORGE and DR GINNY.
Just reading about the iPhone and the Cloud and iTunes made me dizzy.
-
From DR Matthew:
the avatar says it all, I think. But it's nice to be healthy again AND nice to be back here.
This makes me smile. I'm glad you are doing so well :)
-
Elmore I am sorry about your dog woes have you spoken to your neighbor yet?
She's never home when I stop by. Only the barking dog is home.
Have you left a note?
-
Ginny: Would See's be an acceptable substitute brand? See's makes incredible chocolates.
I would not find Fannie May chocolates a decent substitute for See's so it might not work the other way.
-
DR elmore, nice pic of Joshie & his brother.
-
Ginny: Would See's be an acceptable substitute brand? See's makes incredible chocolates.
Yes, DR Ron, that's a possibility. When she lived in Phoenix she said her car knew the way to See's all by itself. We also have a good local chocolatier - Esther Price.
Then I would go with See's.
-
Happiest of anniversaries to Paula and Larry!
Ditto! They are very cute in the wedding photo.
-
Barbra Streisand is on Dr. Oz this afternoon. It is on the same time as the 4 o'clock news, so I guess I will have to miss Babs.
-
Just watched "Peter Pan Live" - just an abomination. Made "The Sound of Music Live" look Broadway quality. My only thought is who are the idiots that think they were creating a good show?
-
Bruce, I am still in a sugar coma from the Brownie Waffle Sundae and it's been over 24 hours. But it was a very productive afternoon after our luncheon. I already have the 2 hosts for the Robby Awards--Jason Graae and Jo Anne Worley--a Musical Director and about 8 singer/presenters. It's coming together very quickly and easily. Thank you for making it possible to do this again after 11 years. Now I just have to come up with a list of nominees and the eventual winners.
-
Yay, Rob!!! I said when I first saw you when you got back that we'd bring you back strong and you are back stronger than EVER!
-
I'm so sorry to hear about Zach, DR singdaw.
-
And our very own Nick Redman was just here and we've decided on our very first release for 2015, which we'll announce, as always, just before Christmas Eve. It's a really beloved film.
-
That was a great tribute to BK, DR JRand64!

This is an
Aldi's (https://www.aldi.us/)
My sister-in-law swears by Aldi!
-
We just shared a meal with our upstairs neighbors. I fixed salmon and broccoli and Rob did potatoes and Mary Linda brought wine.
-
And now, it's time for me to leave work. I have to go to a Theater Artists Olympia board meeting.
Be back later.
-
Helper came and the exterior of the home environment is very festively festive.
-
We reset my old iPhone so it was clean as a whistle, and she set it up for herself and then went over to the nearby AT&T store and got it activated. Timing was perfect as she'd dropped her older phone and the screen smashed to bits.
-
For Mary Poppins fans: Fun picture of Karen Dotrice and Richard Sherman.

Went to see "The Theory of Everything." Excellent acting, as BK reported recently. Surprisingly moving.
-
My 12 year old TV died today.
We said Kaddish over it, then went out and got a new one.
-
Good night, all.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Finished Cantinflas, then watched about twenty minute of Bunny Lake is Missing. Now I'm just relaxing until notes.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?

that sounds a lovely breakfast, why the change?

Listening to the soundtrack (the real soundtrack) to Breakfast at Tiffany's. What a miracle of a score by Mr. Mancini.

I am glad you are getting to know those young people.

I have now caught up.

Matthew, I hope the weight loss wasn't due to ill health. You are looking great.

There are several
new different pieces of furniture I would like to purchase over time, but there is no way I could put them together. I can't even manage to fix the vacuum cleaner.

I have tried very hard, during the last years, not to ask any of my remaining friends for help. And when I have finally broken down and asked someone for a favor, I have always offered to pay them for their time. But apparently, asking for even one favor can be enough to end a friendship.
-
Then they are not friends.
-
I suppose I should write some notes?

I've never broken up a friendship because of favors (not a euphemism). Fooey on them! >:(

My computer has to update and restart. It's nice to know that there are still some updates for Windows XP.
