From the music theatre listserve - I thought it was hilarious. A parody trailer of "Frozen 2" on stage:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKeU8ruo1K0#t=91

The stars include Bill Irwin as the Director, Taylor Louderman as Anna (most recently seen as Wendy in “Peter Pan Live!”), Alysha Umphress as Bryn Hilde (now on Broadway as Hildy in ON THE TOWN), Nancy Opel as the Villainess, Constantine Maroulis as Sven the Reindeer,  John Treacy Egan as Oaken, and Tony Sheldon as Weselton.

Good morning, all.

We dodged a bullet -- a great big bullet -- yesterday, when the nor'easter brought only torrential rains and no snow.  I'm hoping our luck continues today and tonight, when there could be just a touch of mix or of snow in the slowly moving aftermath.

My goodness, that was quite the description of the Cantinflas movie.  I'm torn between being satisfied with that prose and wanting to sample the awfulness for myself.

Looking forward to hearing more about BUNNY LAKE.  I still have it sitting out, waiting for me to listen to the commentary.  Maybe I can do that this very evening.

Good morning, all!

I slept late, but i've been tied up  for the past hour with a search for a USPS tracking number (found) and the sad news that my beloved doctor is leaving Manhattan to marry a gentleman in Wisconsin requires a change in my January appointment since she leaves my HMO on January 9. My heart is broken, since I really have come to love her, and I am of course worried about the new MD the HMO assigns to me. This is most upsetting.

And back to work.

Ask BK Day: Bruce, if I were to make a suggestion/request for a song to be sung at your next kids-only Kritzerland show (which I think you said is next month), might you consider it? The song was written for a child character, it's timely, and it's short.

I guess we are expecting a nor'wester (I just made up that name) tomorrow afternoon.  They are saying torrential rain and winds gusting to 60 mph.  Just my luck, I get all of my Christmas decorations up outside, and now they will probably blow away.

We are girding our loins for a massive rain system expected to start dumping tons of rain upon us starting this evening and throughout tomorrow.

TV stations are recommending people stay home tomorrow, if at all possible, as many roads are likely to be flooded.

Skies have been gray for days now.  Little outbursts of showers have been blooming randomly the past few days.

We need the rain.  I'm not too sure, though, that we will need it all at the same time.   We are expecting 4-6 inches tomorrow, depending upon where we live in the Bay Area.

I could use some good Amazon reviews for ROBERTA, too!  we just got a really weird one from a Robert K, who wrote this brief one: "good price fast service . ive waited ages for a full recording of this musical."  No comment on the actual recording r performances, just that, but I checked his earlier review and all they get is "good price fast service."

I am now down to three large Paint Your Wagon Act Two numbers: the Can-Can, Rope Dance, and "The Strike." On Friday, when I deliver to Joshie everything I've finished, we'll look for the full score for "Wanderin' Star," which should be there but isn't.  There's also in the rental material a song from the post-Broadway tour, "Take The Wheels Off The Wagon." I want to hear it.

Callie was the aggressor today and then Boo and Ricky got into it.  I yelled then separated them.   Callie is upstairs and the other two were downstairs. All has been quiet for about the last hour.  I'm hoping they are done with the fight.   I do need to go see Callie.  The door is open to the room she's in, so she can come down if she wants to..
I just don't get why they are suddenly acting like this  And of course I freak out which doesn't help anything.   I should go look, they are probably all three curled up in the same room while I'm down here by myself

I'm coughing, too, and my cold went away weeks ago!  I seem to be going through the kind of nagging congestion and cough that BK was fighting recently.  I'm not at all sick, but it's a low-key return of the kind of cough I get with a cold.  I tossed back a shot of Robitussin DM last night, and another this afternoon, and I think it's starting to help.

People are so damned stupid when it comes to posting stuff like that.  They don't have a clue as to how to differentiate between a product review and a shipping or seller review.  At least he gave it five stars!

Felines are mysterious DR CILLA LIZ.....apply any theory to their behavior that you like.....it's as likely to be true as anything else.

Yes they are.  I just thought it especially strange that three sets of cats were having about the same behavior on the same day

People are so damned stupid when it comes to posting stuff like that.  They don't have a clue as to how to differentiate between a product review and a shipping or seller review.  At least he gave it five stars!

But I'm glad I looked, because I was shocked to see I hadn't posted one myself!   :-[  All along, I'd been assuming I had, so boy is my face red.  It's there now!!

Maybe he wants to give it a good rating but isn't much for writing reviews.  Hey, he gave it 5 stars, that's great

I am very happy for the five stars. I just thought, why did he bother to post a review if all he can say is god price, fast shipper?  We're all of us with things on Amazon trying to move a product, and that review wouldn't help a potential sell at all.

Well, it might if someone wanted a good price and a fast shipper :)  I don't read that many reviews, I do look at the rating numbers.  So it may help you with some people just because it's another 5 star rating

I almost bought some Mucinex DM to try.  Maybe I should have if the DM is helping.

Ask BK Day: Bruce, if I were to make a suggestion/request for a song to be sung at your next kids-only Kritzerland show (which I think you said is next month), might you consider it? The song was written for a child character, it's timely, and it's short.

Sure - I often ask for dear reader's ideas for songs.
Okay, my request is "I Know Things Now" from "Into the Woods". It's my favorite song from a musical that's sung by a child. And it would be timely because the movie is coming out on Xmas Day. Actually, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

By johngriffin0928 - See all my reviews
This review is from: It Might Be Fun (Audio CD)
There's no "might" about it, "It Might Be Fun" is fun, thanks to Sandy Bainum's playful vocals and a cache of treasures culled from the works of songwriter and album producer Bruce Kimmel.

In another age, when music lovers sought out gifted vocalists who could sell a song, Bainum would have been a superstar, in the mold of, say, Jo Stafford or Kay Starr, women who sang with a purity and simplicity that let the song speak for itself while showing off the singer's natural talents. So it is when she's gives Kimmel's "What Do I Do Now?" the right note of introspection without devolving into tortured, "American Idol"-esque histrionics. Beneath it all is a harmonic structure that Burt Bacharach would envy. Definitely fun.

The slow foxtrot that is "I'm Here" slinks along on Lanny Meyers' orchestration, which evokes a smoky nightclub right down to its solo trumpet burning in the background. But it's Bainum's wistful vocals that make the song so memorable, especially when she wraps them around this great lyric with its triple rhyme landing in unexpected places:

I know my heart
Was reckless from the start
Never smart, never wise, never fair.

The rest of album is full of such pleasant surprises, from the youthful exuberance of "I See Rainbows" to the tentative yet hopeful "Maybe Something More" with its insinuating vamp, reminiscent of Frances Lai or John Kander. "Who Do I Have to Blank to Get Out of This Show" is raucous and lively, while "Three Acts" could break your heart with its sadly realistic conclusion.

The real joy of the album is saved for last, a new work by the legendary Disney songwriter Richard Sherman and Kimmel called "Two Roads." If you're out in your jaunting car, you'll want to use this delightful ditty as your emotional compass. "You'll enjoy the ride," the song promises, and this album delivers.

I did.  It was just a tech rehearsal with our stage manager, the assistant stage manager, the lighting designer, the light board operator, and me...the sound board operator.  We mainly needed to go through all the cues and specify which of the cues went first and exactly where.  During the first weekend, we didn't quite have them solidified.  Now we do.
