Well, you've read the notes, the notes went into the boyhood woods, and now it is time for you to post until the boyhood cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ZYMOLOGY!
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR ChasSmith!! :D
-
I watched "Disney on Broadway" last night and enjoyed it, especially the moment with Richard M. Sherman. Ashley Brown, who played Mary Poppins on Broadway, sang "Feed the Birds." Here's the complete segment, although without Richard M. Sherman:

"Yeah, where is George EVERY evening. He used to be a late-night stalwart around these here parts. No more."
Excuse me? I'm here more often than not!
-
I'm involved in a show right now, and it's a long show, so that takes up some of my time.
;)
-
I've now caught up with all of yesterday's posts.
-
Just had to share.
-
Now, to read today's BK's Notes.
-
Topic of the Day: what about a little girl (who's got the chops) singing the arrangement of "Santa Fe" that Debbie (Shapiro) Gravitte sang on her Alan Menken album? I love that version. I'm not as much a fan of the new stage show version.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Happy Chas Day!!!
-
Good very early morning, all. I miraculously got up even early than I had to, and am all dressed up with, well, someplace to go. Namely, a high school. Oy!
-
Thank you as always for the birthday wishes, BK. What is this now, my third birthday on haineshisway.com? I'm a young'un! Well, a young'un who just qualified for Medicare!
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR ChasSmith!! :D
Thank you, DR George!
-
Happy Chas Day!!!
Thank you, DR Ben!
-
And now I must be off!
-
Monday morning greetings! This the first day of what I fear will be a very stressful week. I hope BK will excuse my errantness and truantness, should either occur.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR ChasSmith!
-
Thanks for your pithy film reviews, bk!

Good morning, all! I am very sleepy. Last night the neighbor above me and her dog were very rambunctious after I had turned out my lights. There was way too much banging and bumping. I think the dog has some heavy chew toy that it drops on the floor far too often.
So, i want to go back to bed.
-
I've got all my City Center Encores! work together, and it's heavy. i'm deciding if I should move therapy and not have to cart all of the work as well as my change of clothes with me. I think i'll see if i can move it to Wednesday. If so, i'll nap for another hour.
-
I know our DR ChasSmith is working today, but nevertheless (that's one word!) I am wishing him a most joyous celebration!

I'm hoping the film of "Into The Woods" is better than the show, which I really dislike: I think "The Fantasticks" tells the same story clearer and simpler. At the moment, I only want to see it for Jonathan's orchestrations, David Krane's adaptation and James Corden, who was so wonderful in "One Man, Two Guvnors."
-
Tonight at midnight is the deadline for people signing up for health care who want coverage starting Jan 1, so it promises to be a most crazy day. :P
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday, DR ChasSmith !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I know that Sondheim's new song for Meryl Streep as the witch will be included on the DVD/Blu-Ray of INTO THE WOODS, but I am disappointed that they didn't include it on the deluxe edition of the film's soundtrack, out today on CD and iTunes.

Happiest of Birthdays to DR CHAS SMITH!
-
Getting through the day vibes for DR GINNY.
-
Busy day at work vibes for DR SINGDAW!
-
I shall have to consider some things for the TOD.
I enjoyed reading MR BK's considerations of Boyhood and Into the Woods.....one of which I am interested in seeing.
-
Today is banking and shopping.
-
Perhaps as the day goes on, we should do a Dumb Casting of the Into the Woods movie.
-
Getting through the day vibes for DR GINNY.
Thank you, DR JRand.

Happy Birthday to ChasSmith!

RE: INTO THE WOODS
I may have said this here before, but based on the trailers I've seen, you would never know that this is a musical.
Indeed, as much as I enjoy musicals, the trailer turns me off. It's selling the film as just another CGI fantasy (e.g. JACK, THE GIANT KILLER).
I will definitely see this film, but probably not until it's out on DVD or Blu-Ray.
-
I recorded ABC's Disney on Broadway but did not have a chance to watch it yet.
-
Happy Birthday to DR ChasSmith.
-
TOD: Well, I must be psychic because I already gave my vote last week to "I Know Things Now" (from "Into the Woods") for the next Kritzerland show. The only other song I can think of is an odd little tune called "Who?" from "Martin Guerre".
-
Good morning, all.
And happy Monday vibes.

First things first:
Happy Birthday, ChasSmith! May you have many happy returns of this day!

Today is my travel day back east. Will be flying out of SFO tonight at 10:45. I woke myself up at 4 a.m. worrying over the slightest things...things I could do nothing about until 8 a.m.
However, at 8 a.m., I checked in with Delta, printed out my boarding passes, signed up for mail hold with the USPS and then booked my shuttle for the trip to the airport.
All I need do now is pack. Simple enough, I hope. There are a few errands I want to accomplish like a visit to my bank to get specific bill denominations (I don't like wads of cash but I like a healthy wallet), a visit to Peet's for 2 lbs of French Roast and a trek to my optometrist to have my glasses adjusted. I hate maladjusted glasses, don't you?
I shall be checking in as is my wont during my two weeks. Should anything happen that would be worthy of sharing, I shall certainly post about it. Nothing, of course, will ever be as unique as my visit several years ago where the most extraordinary things seemed to happen on a daily basis, including a luncheon at the church followed by a 2-1/2 hour one-man/one-boy show. While it was rather average in performance, it was wholly unique in my experience. I am glad that I saw it in my "down time" and can still think on it as a special event.
-
Errand and travel vibes for DR RLP. We look forward to the annual East Coast Reports.

The Day the Earth Stood Still was in my mailbox! I am going to read the booklet and then listen to the CD later today!

Well the notes are not by MR BK - so they are not as complete or informative, but they are okay. AND the music is amazing.
I did not own any version of this music on LP or CD, so it is a treat to have it!

In the new issue of New York, the critic reviewing Into The Woods finds the pileup of catastrophes deliberately mean, advises you to leave at the end of Act One, praises Tunick's orchestrations, and says the score is "A Little Night Music without the tunes." I've sorta felt that way for the past 30 years.
-
We ordered a new bed for Mom, which Richard and Rob will pick up Wednesday and deliver directly to her new digs. We did a couple of other errands and have just come from a delightful Olive Garden dinner with the reinforcements. DR SINGDAW nice red robe.
BUT I have to take off points for your posting of the video.
However I am reminded of the perhaps apocryphal story of Mr Gower Champion spending some time trying to teach Ginger Rogers the dances for when she was going into HELLO, DOLLY. He was finding the going rough and finally took to the streets for smoke.
Who should he run into except Hermes Pan - choreographer of the Astaire & Rogers films.
Champion: My God, Hermes, why didn't you tell me?
Pan: My God, Gower, I thought you knew!

So, A Christmas Carol-The Musical (the Menken/Ahrens version) is down after it's 9th year. It was a wonderful cast this year both on and off stage. I enjoyed being onstage as well as keeping the music going (we use tracks) and being my ol' annoying MD self at times. One more year of this show, and then it's on to bigger and better version of Dickens "A Christmas Carol".
-
I liked the notes today. I'm excited about "Into the Woods" - although, I'm excited for "Annie", also. I didn't think I would be, I think I am.

Thanks, DRs JRand and Cillaliz.

Well, it's time for me to leave. I'm going to my parents' house. My mom had me buy a couple of things for her as Christmas gifts for a friend of hers, and since they arrived today, I might as well deliver them.
Be back later.

I'm looking forward to several movies....Wild. Selma. The Theory of Everything. Big Eyes. Unbroken. of course only one of them has made it to town....The Theory of Everything. I plan to go later this week

Watching the stage version of Pirates of Penzance from Central Park with Kevin Kline, Rex Smith, Linda Rondstadt, George Rose and Patricia Routledge. Wonderful nonsense. And the audience rightly is eating it up. They're all having so much fun that Kevin Kline even causes Routledge to lose it a time or two.

Well I'm off to bed. I am ready for the hearing tomorrow and the brief I wrote for it a couple weeks ago is better than I remembered. So, time to get a little shut eye. I've got to leave a little before 7:00 AM to pick up my client and drive to Omaha. I'm hoping the streets are ok. It's snowing right now. Snow is better than ice.

I did and Keith had a good laugh photographing it. It really isn't fair that one little drink can make me so loopy. Keith had the same drink, plus some of mine, and was fine.
The Deshler, named for the boxer Dave Deshler is rather yummy.

Oh, I see - so Jane has been having all her fun elsewhere. I see.
If we knew how the photo would have been shared here :)
-
Yeah, JANE, you know we do have the ability to post pictures right here and not ALL our dear readers are obsessed with Facebook. Let's have the damn photographs here where they belong.
-
Whaddaya mean how???
-
For dessert we shared a piece of carrot cake with a rich caramel sauce. We did not realuze the slice is stated ad for 2 people. Five is more like it as far as we are concerned. We couldn't finish half of it.

George, are you going to be taping "Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas" on NBC tomorrow?
I hadn't thought about that...maybe...certainly, if requested. ;D
It supposedly has nine songs from the musical in it. And I think the score is charming.
I didn't realize that it was based on the musical...I had just fast-forwarded through the commercial whenever I saw it. :-\
My DVR is set, now.
-
Okay then.
-
Gee, Jane, you look positively giddy!
;)
-
She's positively giddy that she was posting these to Facebook! :)
-
I, on the other hand, am positively giddy to post them HERE, where they damn well belong.
-
George, I noticed you posted It Might Be Fun to the cast album database site. Thanks!

Anytime! I really like that site.

Keith took the photos and put them on fb. In the 3rd one I was attempting to cover my fave once I realized he was about to take another photo. I wasn't fast enough.

I was eating an excellent bean & rice burger with chipolte mayo.
