Well, you've read the notes, the notes didn't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies, and now it is time for you to post until the baby cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SYNCRETIC!
-
First after BK.
-
That hasn't happened in a while.
-
I haven't been able to catch up yet, but hope to over the weekend.
-
I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies, neither.
-
Other than that, I have nothing to report.
-
Other than that I have nothing to report.
-
Which is something rather than nothing, I suppose.
-
If it's not one thing, it's another.
-
See what I'm doing here? Turning nothing into many, many posts.
-
:)
-
Mr. Karp would be so proud.
-
I think I shall now go eat a prune.
-
As one so often does.

Morning all.
That is all.

TOD: Movies-- "The Five Pennies"
-
Good morning.
-
TOD:
Same as I posted yesterday on our "false Friday," although we did finish watching JUSTIFIED, Season 5 last night.
JUSTIFIED is a great show. If you haven't discovered it yet, you should do yourself a favor and take a look.
We will be watching ELSA & FRED and MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT this weekend. Also, if the expected MERV GRIFFIN SHOW set arrives, some episodes of that.
The season finales of both HOMELAND and THE AFFAIR air on Sunday. Don't want to miss those.
-
Good morning, all! I was up too late reading John Gielgud's letters which I'm enjoying immensely. After a run to Staples to use their copier, I will head down to Battery Park for a long day with my Christmas Up The Holler cronies at the NY Film School. It's a real schlep and I believe it will be a cold and windy walk from the Rector Street subway to my destination. I would rather not go, but this show needs to get off the ground and make some money for me.
-
Composers have needed arrangers for Broadway as far back, as I can tell, to 1902 and the Wizard of Oz, although I sure that for some time before that it wasn't an uncommon occurrence for a music publisher to have a house arranger harmonize a tune sung, hummed or whistled by a "composer," who got full credit for the piece whilke the actual writer was paid a fee.
Mabel Barrison claimed that the hit "Sammy," her big song in Wizard of Oz was her composition; she sang the lyrics she'd written to a pianist in a Chicago music store who notated and harmonized it for someone to orchestrate for the June 1902 opening. The song was published as a song by James O'Dea (lyricist Anne Caldwell's husband) and Ed. Hutchinson.
The most famous non-composer of the 1950s was Bob Merrill who played his tunes on a toy xylophone and the work was filled out by a professional arranger.
-
DR Cillaliz, I have also become a homebody. It is nice to be home. Sometimes I wish you still lived here, because I bet you'd love to join in our group of butterfly (and other things) watching women who get together once in a while.
-
TOD: Nothing to watch or listen to, but I am going out in search of ducks to photograph today. We finally have a nice blue-sky day. (I am not complaining about our recent rains, just merely glad to have sunshine back again.)
-
Good morning, all.
Finally, a blessed sleep-in day. Got a lot to do, but the extra sleep was wonderful and what I so needed.
And now, some coffee.
-
TOD:
Oy. I have no idea.
-
DR Laura, I think I'd enjoy being a part of your group
-
I'm at work but really exhausted. It was a very long week this week and I'm glad it's really and truly Friday
-
I have a phone hearing this morning. It's one of those set at 9:00 and the judge may call by 12:30. My client and her 5 small children are in the waiting room. They are being very good, but that's a long wait for a little kid. Not judging. This is why I pay for cable tv in my waiting room
-
And I am off. I have to be there by noon and I really have no idea where I am going. Pray for Rosemary's baby.
-
Good morning, all.
Writing from a coffee shop up the street since my folks don't have Internet connection, cable or any of those newfangled contraptions.
-
TOD:
I brought some Christmas movies to watch with the folks, so The Bishop's Wife and The Shop Around the Corner are definite possibilities.
Thanks to the flight yesterday, I'm about 225 pages into Balzac's The Wild Ass's Skin, a truly tawdy tale of wretched excess and possible redemption. I love having the time to read a book.
-
Friday morning greetings! So far this morning: the owner of the cabinetry place has been here to figure out how to deal with the little shelves on the end of our "peninsula" and my niece has been here to say her good-byes before heading back to Illinois. Richard and I are due downtown in an hour or so for the school design input session. Niece Laure checked on Gram this morning and texted "All good here."
-
DR John G - I was thrilled to read your post last night about a possible visit to Middletown! I will PM my cell phone number to you. After Monday, when the countertops are being installed, my life will settle down a bit and we're looking forward to a very quiet Christmas.
-
Good luck with the ducks DR LAURA.
Good news yesterday DR GINNY.....now you can move froward!
-
I liked your t-shirt story DR CILLA LIZ. Did you get a response to your email?
-
I am excited to hear more about MR BK's new song and show.
I will say here....something I have not admitted before....I do not like performing children or children's performances.....or children performing.....in fact I don't much like children.....so there it is.
I am happy that so many others do.
-
Whenever I have to write to a group of people that I can't pick out a bottle of wine, I always say, "I don't know nothin' about birthin' babies and I don't know nothin' about wine!" So, one of my sisters had this idea to have a local shop deliver a nice holiday basket to my dad and stepmom and she asked for wine suggestions. This was about three days ago. So, three days ago I wrote to my sisters that I don't know nothing about birthin' babies. I believe this is why the phrase popped into Bruce's head. He has amazing ESP, didn't you know.
-
Yes, I know. This makes me the perfect director for BAD SEED.
TOD:
CD - The Day the Earth Stood Still.....fun and excellent....
DVD - I will be watching WHITE CHRISTMAS sometime this weekend.
-
I think DR AMY is correct....MR BK has ESP.
-
Jane, I just saw your post from yesterday where you said you'd like to live in Carmel. It just so happens that my dad lives in a mansion on the beach in Carmel with his second wife. He spends his days staring out at the ocean with a large telescope and watching the whales feed on fish. Probably the only negative is that they get a lot of overcast days, being on the beach, but they occasionally do get some sun. Unfortunately, she owns the house, which her children will inherit after she passes away, and he'll have to greatly downsize when he becomes homeless.
-
...
I am happy that so many others do.
DR JRand, sort of how I feel about animals.
-
DR Elmore, Rector Street is where Richard and I got off to go to the Museum of Jewish Heritage last month. It WAS a cold, windy walk - bundle up! I hope the trip is worthwhile.
-
DR Singdaw hope your DH feels better soon!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
DR Jane, no I haven't read RED RISING yet.
I would do an amazon.com gift card.
I know it seems impersonal but I personally prefer choosing my own gift.
-
DR JOHN G welcome to the Ohio Valley......

Did DR CHAS SMITH say he had another day off today?
DR ELMORE have fun down at the holler.....

Got this email joke. I thought it was funny:
A must read
It's so good to finally get a health warning that is useful!!!
IT INVOLVES THE SHAMPOO WHEN IT RUNS DOWN YOUR BODY WHEN YOU SHOWER WITH IT.
WARNING TO US ALL!!!
Shampoo Warning! I don't know WHY I didn't figure this out sooner!
I use shampoo in the shower!
When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body, and printed very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning,
"FOR EXTRA BODY AND VOLUME."
No wonder I have been gaining weight!
-

Thank you, Ginny. It will likely be after Christmas.
-
Did DR CHAS SMITH say he had another day off today?
I'm happy to say I'm done with all of my little musical gigs for now, DR Jrand64. Just busy with personal stuff that needs ketchup.
Next musical thing is SHE LOVES ME in February/March.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe six hours of sleep.
-
Dealer has come and gone.
-
good afternoon to all
-
I've been listening to The Day The Eartha Kitt Stood Still and Sandy Bainum: It May Be Fun in the car player. Alternating on my whatever my mood is at the time.
So far I must say it is wonderful to hear those BK songs with a big orchestra. I am not a big fan of movie instrumental soundtracks, but The Day... is proven to be an exception. The Hermann score and the orchestrations are making it fun to listen to without have to match the music to the scene.
-
Shayne, do write an Amazon review.
-
Is it Friday again already?
-
I thought today was Thursday?
-
One more.
-
Page Three!
-
BK, you are a great many things (all good), but the one thing you will never be considered to be is - prissy!
-
I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies.
-
Back from the Costco run. Just got waters and sodas and some light bulbs.
-
I often have things that just pop into my head, but this morning it was a song that I had, stuck in my head, from the moment I woke up. And not just any song, or even a semi-good song; but rather, "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport."
-
It was nice to see so many of my AAUW friends at the school design luncheon. Richard brought me home and went back out to do errands. I'm taking the rest of the day off - maybe a nap...
-
DR TCB do you still have your Wheel of Fortune number? I keep watching for a number that begins with TB....the secret Santa winnings have been great this year.....last night the big winner got over $87.000.
-
TOD: Movies-- "The Five Pennies"
Just the other day I was telling someone they should watch this.

DR Laura, I think I'd enjoy being a part of your group
I know I would.

I hope he won't have to move in the near future. On the upside, knowing he will have to leave one day I'm sure he appreciates it even more. That is how I feel about where we live. I want to trade one paradise for another, not settle on something else-lol
We have a landscope to watch our wildlife. I would love to use it to watch the whales.

DR Jane, no I haven't read RED RISING yet.
I would do an amazon.com gift card.

After the other suggestions amazon did come to mind. I'll see if Keith came up with anything while on the cross trainer at the gym today.

I had a regularly scheduled doctor's appointment this morning. While there I asked about my cough and was told my lungs are clear. The cough is just coming from my throat.
-
An influenza strain that is likely to be the dominant virus circulating this year was not included in the flu vaccine. The strain known as A/Switzerland was identified too late to be put in the vaccine, which is set in February and included four other strains. A key concern is that there will be a significant number of health care workers who get sick.
52 percent of samples tested nationwide were A/Switzerland.
The vaccine could reduce the severity for those who become sick from A/Switzerland.
-
DR John G, I hope you have a great time in Louisville.
I'm home from the NY Film Academy. The trip was much easier than I expected, it was great to see friends, and DJ and I have an "Into The Woods" date for Christmas Day.
-
I'm glad your day went well DR elmore.
-
Good news DR ELMORE.

Good to see you, John! Happy Holidays.

Ginny, I am so relieved to know that your mother's move went so well.

I may borrow that line, Amy; becasue I know nothing about wine, either.
-
MR BK has ESP.
Oh no! Is it serious?
-
DR Singdaw hope your DH feels better soon!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer, I hope you are starting to feel better!
-
I don't think so DR TCB, and I don't think it's contagious either.
-
Ginny, I am so relieved to know that your mother's move went so well.
Thank you, DR TCB. The reinforcements left today and I've stayed away today to see how she does. I do know from my niece, who stopped there before heading home to Illinois, that Mom wouldn't go down the hall for breakfast. No surprise there.
-
I'm sure I wouldn't go for breakfast either :)
-
Shayne, do write an Amazon review.
Will do as soon as I am finished listening to it.
-
I'm sure I wouldn't go for breakfast either :)
She really just wants coffee first thing in the morning. I hope tomorrow she'll let me show her how to use her brand new Keurig-like coffee maker.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
DR Ginny, glad your mom's move went so smoothly. Glad, too, that you had lots of help.

BK's THIS CHRISTMAS has been going through my head all week. The few times it wasn't TWO ROADS was. BK tunes dominating my mental airtime this week.
-
I'm sure I wouldn't go for breakfast either :)
She really just wants coffee first thing in the morning. I hope tomorrow she'll let me show her how to use her brand new Keurig-like coffee maker.
I hope it is simple. Can the attendants make sure it is set up the night before so all she has to do is push a button? Either way I would use a post it, or something larger if needed, with simple directions and leave it in front of the coffee maker.
-
As I hoped, Keith found a gift while on the cross trainer. Something nice to listen to music-not sure exactly what it is.
-
TOD:
Druxy and I have been watching some of the same things.
MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT
JUSTIFIED Season 5
I like JUSTIFIED, but I can't say I like season 5 as well as the previous seasons. I think it was a real mistake to kill off Margo Martindale's character, who was sooo perfect, a couple seasons ago. She added so much color to the show.
-
Oh, I've always been watching season 9 of DALZIEL & PASCOE. I've always liked this series.

Sing, how is DS Jayson doing? Vibes for GOOD HEALTH for you both.

DR Ginny, glad your mom's move went so smoothly. Glad, too, that you had lots of help.
Thank you, DR Jeanne!
-
Thanks, DRs Jeanne and Jennifer. It appears that the DH's fever broke this afternoon.
-
Meanwhile, my headache is just beginning - today the state extended the health insurance deadline AGAIN - now until 12/31, so now the madness and chaos we've been experiencing will continue for another two weeks.
-
Thanks, DRs Jeanne and Jennifer. It appears that the DH's fever broke this afternoon.
Vibes it stays broken! Are you still fever free?
-
DR Singdaw hope your DH feels better soon!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer, I hope you are starting to feel better!
I still feel terrible but it is much better. The cold has moved into my chest. Not sure how long that phase lasts. Luckily i don't have to cough that often. But my throat gets very phlegmy/congested when i do. :(
-
It is time for the season finale of TAR!
-
Good luck with the ducks DR LAURA.
We decided to look for a coatimundi instead. No luck.
-
I liked your t-shirt story DR CILLA LIZ. Did you get a response to your email?
Yes I did. She was very apologetic and was glad I told her how I felt. She said a lot of things including that she didn't want me to think I had to cook something. I guess she didn't know that I like to cook. She said it wouldn't be the same without me. So, I'm planning to go.

I made it through my morning hearing this morning before crashing and burning. It was one of those weeks that left me totally exhausted. So, I came home at noon and slept all afternoon. I'm still really tired, so sent my regrets for a come and go holiday party tonight and and resting. I don't think I'm getting sick, but I'm afraid if I don't rest I will get sick.
-
DR John G, I hope you have a great time in Louisville.
I'm home from the NY Film Academy. The trip was much easier than I expected, it was great to see friends, and DJ and I have an "Into The Woods" date for Christmas Day.
I had ordered the 2-CD soundtrack to "Into the Woods" and I FINALLY got notification that it shipped. The notice said that it would be delivered Sunday, which ain't gonna happen. I should get it early next week. Anyway, I can finally (officially ;) ) listen to the "Auto-Rip" version of the soundtrack. I'll actually be able to download it when I get home.

For those who are interested in the Stephen Collins situation, he's on 20/20 tonight with an interview by Katie Couric about the whole thing. http://abcnews.go.com/US/stephen-collins-denies-pedophile-confessing-sexual-misconduct-girls/story?id=27728607 (http://abcnews.go.com/US/stephen-collins-denies-pedophile-confessing-sexual-misconduct-girls/story?id=27728607)

I spent the afternoon sleeping with Boo under the covers, Ricky on the bed and Callie watching from the chair in the bedroom. Whoever said I'm not alone is absolutely right

DR TCB do you still have your Wheel of Fortune number? I keep watching for a number that begins with TB....the secret Santa winnings have been great this year.....last night the big winner got over $87.000.
Yes, I keep hoping to see my number, but I guess the odds are astronomical.

That is amazing!!

Well, today was my last day of work until December 30th. I'll be shuffling off to Buffalo on Sunday. Let's hope there won't be any 7 foot snowstorms this week.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work and head for the theater. We have two, count 'em, TWO shows tonight! We have our regular 8:00 pm showing, but we added a midnight show. It's two-and-a-half hours long...and we've added a midnight show!
-
The problem is that I signed up to work concessions tomorrow at noon before the midnight show was moved. It was originally going to be last Saturday night, but our board president and his husband scheduled their 10th anniversary (of being together) party long before even the show was planned, so our midnight performance was moved so that we in the cast and crew could come to their party...gotta be able to party! ;)
-
Anyway, I'll be getting even less sleep tonight (this morning) than I normally get, but it'll be fine. I can take a nap tomorrow between the concessioning and the show.
Until later...much, much later!

Today I officially announced (which means I put a sign on the door) that I'll be closed Dec 23-27 and 31-Jan 4. I decided to take two 5 day weekends with a couple days in between where I can organize things at the office and put out any fires that may need to be done before the year ends.
-
Sleep when you can, DR GEORGE and have fun while you're awake!
-
I liked your t-shirt story DR CILLA LIZ. Did you get a response to your email?

Good you cleared the air. Have fun cooking & enjoy the party.

George, why don't you think it will arrive on Sunday?
I received two packages last Sunday and one the Sunday before that.
-
Cilla, I am glad you cleared the air with that hostess. It would be a shame to ruin a friendship over a misunderstanding.
-
SlingShot, vibes that Jaysen continues on the road to recovery, and that you manage to fight off any illness yourself.
-
I can't even begin to think about wrapping all these packages.

Where is the Christmas elf when you need one.

Personally, I would prefer a Christmas fairy!
-
They are now trying to get the $15.00 minimum wage on the ballot in Tacoma. They have no idea what a nightmare they are creating with that idea.
-
Another exciting Friday night.
-
The next few weeks are going to be tough on post totals. With so many of our regulars traveling for the holidays, it will be tough to reach our normal levels.
-
Cilla, I am glad you cleared the air with that hostess. It would be a shame to ruin a friendship over a misunderstanding.
I don't think it would have ruined a friendship, but I wouldn't have gone to the party or I would have gone and been in a bad mood
-
I am about to go back to sleep, but thought I'd stop in for a moment and say hi to TCB
-
So now we need to turn the page
-
I was supposed to answer a question for someone, but I forgot what it was. Sorry.
-
I'm hungry but it's too late to eat
-
I wasn't hungry at dinner time so I just had popcorn
-
And hot chocolate
-
Now I need to get some sleep.
-
I'm not really sorry I missed the holiday party tonight. They are good friends, but I was so exhausted,
I wouldn't have been any fun at all
-
Well, 146 posts isn't great, but it is better than it was earlier.
-
To be or not to be, that is the question
-
Of course there was no question mark, so I guess it's only a statement
-
We should be getting close to a page turn
-
IS this It?
-
You snuck up on me, Cilla.
-
LOL, and now here we are on page 6
-
Getting closer to a respectable total for those who happen to be around
-
I need to go to bed.
G'night!
-
Me too, sleep well
-
I am glad Jeanne has two of my songs running through her head!
-
Back from a wretched evening of theater. I'm not going to be too hard in the notes because my friend directed it - but it was the worst kind of community theater - terrible acting and singing from almost everyone - and the show itself was strictly from hunger. And I have to say that the direction never had a chance and so seemed like it wasn't good. Kay Cole did what she could to move people around, but no one ends up looking good with stuff like this. The one upside was the band - two keyboards, drums and bass (our Li'l Abner bass player) - the musical director was Wayne Moore (also from Li'l Abner) and he did a fine job.
