Well, you've read the notes, the notes had themselves a merry little Christmas and also spoke of a new word, and now it is time for you to post until the merry little cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RENITENT!
-
And the word of the day is: RENITENT!
How I felt after I looked up that word. :)
-
Glad you had a good time at the party, bk. Sounds like fun!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Friday morning greetings! Today I have a routine check-up with my cardiologist and lunch plans with our very own DR John G. Looking forward to one of those things more than the other ;)
-
Good morning!
-
Looking forward to one of those things more than the other ;)
I am certain that DR John G. won't take it personally. ;)
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning, all.
For all the food and drink that have passed my lips in the past 48 hours, I feel almost surprisingly good this morning. And that is a good thing. It's all good.
-
Blumpkin!
People actually do that?
:o
-
As it turned out, we did not go to a movie yesterday. Sandy and I went out for an early lunch, then went home and watched WHITE CHRISTMAS and a couple other movies on our big screen.
Actually, I haven't been inside a movie theater for two years. I have no problem waiting 2-4 months until a film is released for home viewing where I can watch it in comfort on my own terms.
-
TOD:
I have the first season of BLACK SAILS and THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW (12 disc set), so I'll probably be watching episodes of both.
-
Morning; morning; morning!
-
It's Friday, but feels like Sunday to me.
-
TOD:
I have the first season of BLACK SAILS and THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW (12 disc set), so I'll probably be watching episodes of both.
Is the Merv Griffin show complete shows or "the best of"
-
good morning to all
-
And there is even artwork the goes with blumpkin
-
So if Wednesday is Hump Day, Thursday is Throwback Day, Friday is TGIF what day should we declare is bumpkin day on Facebook and start a new trend until people start to complain about it.
-
TOD:

Is the Merv Griffin show complete shows or "the best of"
It seems to be a combination of both.

Good morning, all! I slept very late, ran through my emails, and here I am. There was a long overdue email from the Man From Philadelphia that was very sad, and I have to deal with that today.
DR JohnG, yes indeed! "Boom Crunch" is even worse than the nonsensical "Last Midnight," and I have no idea what either does for the witch or the logistics of the plot beyond piss me off.
I'm loving all of the "why didn't they keep . . .?" or "where is the reprise of . . .?" Why is it all these so-called intelligent morons of the Sondheim Cult cannot figure out the differences between a stage show of two acts and an intermission and a film produced by a specialist in "family films" and God knows how many trips with dad or mom to the bathroom? I think Disney might have been happier two see another 10 minutes cut.
I have no moire news at the moment. It's nice to see DRvixmom back to the fold, and I am happy that BK's dinner was a good time. The postal service just brought me a large envelope. While I wish it were filled with big bills, I suspect it's something else. The question is, what?
-
Happy Boxing Day !
-
I saw DR VIXMOM on here last night.
The holidays are upon us....and will soon behind us! And 2015 is nigh!
-
I am now educated as to the meaning of THE WORD that MR BK was talking about yesterday.....and yet even though I have learned a new word, I don't feel any smarter.
-
I saw a new word on FACEBOOK last week that is interesting. I have yet to use it, but I am sure I will sooner or later. You will not have to look it up to ascertain the definition.
DR ELMORE you can use it on the bus, if you like.
Sasshole.
-
What was in the envelope DR ELMORE?
I got a lovely box of goodies from my birthday twin DR JOSESPIANO......every now and then he sends me a collection of Playbills and programs plucked from the floor or empty chairs of theaters in NYC and elsewhere. It is always nice to get the box.
-
What was in the envelope DR ELMORE?
A book I had forgotten I ordered: Bruce Catton's American Heritage History of the Civil War.
-
Sounds interesting.
-
So sad to be all alone in the world......
-
Page Two appear!
-
There!
-
Looking forward to one of those things more than the other ;)
I am certain that DR John G. won't take it personally. ;)
;D
I'm looking forward to photos.

DR JANE is correct....we need mini HHW meeting photos.
-
And more mini HHW meetings.
-
Good Morning - had a lovely coffee meeting with the former artistic director and friend from the theatre company that I guess I'm on staff of. I never know anymore. This afternoon will be a viewing of "Into the Woods" with a group of theatre people, with a get together afterward.
-
I'm up, I'm up. I fell asleep around two and was up just before ten, stayed in bed and then fell back asleep until just now.
-
I'm told there will be a visit today, but it won't happen until later.
-
It happens often like that DR MATTHEW.
I went to auditions once where I thought I was the accompanist....but afterwards when we were casting the show, I found out I was the director.

Kind of an unusual Christmas Day, all things considered. My oldest great nephew was scheduled to become a father in January. Because of fears of Preeclampsia, they decided to induce labor yesterday. On the way to the hospital, the great nephew was in a car accident. He is fine, but his car is wrecked. No insurance for either driver.
-
Today I received a package from Kritzerland: two CDs I planned to purchase when I had some spare cash. I'm suspecting some kind person on this here site is responsible. Could I be mistaken?

We have returned from a delightful lunchtime visit with DR John G. I had the nerve to invite him to dine at the new barbecue jernt on Central Avenue. He was very gracious and we had a great time:

I'm jealous! I wanna be there! He never comes to visit me.
-
DR Elmore, it would have been fun to have you here. We'll have to go to that place next time you're in town!
-
Lovely photos - thanks for sharing DR GINNY!
-
MR BK is taking the Be a Santa song to heart!

I agree.

Well, I am really touched by your kindness. It was really a wonderful surprise. I'll be playing them all weekend.
Thank you so much!

I'm embarrassed that I completely missed this post! I was all caught up in TCB's great-nephew and Ginny's photo.

MR BK is taking the Be a Santa song to heart!
I did not understand this when I first saw it, DR JRand64. Now I get it. You were the klew!
-
Christmas 2014 is turning out better than anticipated!
-
There was a tap tap tap at my door at 7 a.m. and a dazed little girl on the other side. I guess Mr. Goldstein saw the note I put at their door on Sunday night meant for Monday morning and thought today was the tomorrow I was talking about. I had nothing else planned, so we went in search of birds. Found some, too.
-
I think I'll go in search of some packages and some food, since the Darling Daughter won't be here for a few hours. I'll just have a sandwich or something light.
-
I am a Klew!
-
Vibes for the new father and nephew of DR TCB.

So I guess I'd better get busy.

I figure if June Lockhart has one, I can get one, too.
-
Friday media report: for Christmas Richard gave me 4 DVDs and 2 CDs.
DVDs:
THE HUNDRED FOOT JOURNEY
MY FAIR LADY
JERSEY BOYS
HOLIDAY INN
CDs:
Renée Flemming's CHRISTMAS IN NEW YORK CITY
Bette Midler's IT'S THE GIRLS

Since the DVD arrived in the mail today we shall be watching INTO THE STORM.
-
I believe both Jeanne & Ginny recommended THE PARADISE. Last night we finished watching season 1 disc 1 and plan to continue watching the series. Thank you.
How does this compare to the book?
-
Wonderful get-together with Ginny and Richard. Nice to have been back in Middletown today. It's been 29 years. Will try to get back again before then.

Nice photo! Do you have signed releases from the other five people?
-
Elmore, we did talk about you.
The only thing worse is not being talked about!
Did you have any sense of shock at seeing the old burg?
-
BK, there are some wonderful shots of you in the CD booklet. i read it all.
-
I'm thinking pizza and salad for dinner tonight.
No barbecue.

My phone is acting weird.

On the cast recording list a certain KL deserves the 2014 prize for Flogging A Dead Horse.

After all of your nominations, you should have a Lifetime Achievement Award!
-
Elmore, coming to visit is something I would love to do. Here's hoping it happens in 2015.
-
DR John G brought me the sweetest gift - an autographed copy of his mother's cookbook!
-
Vibes for the new father and nephew of DR TCB.
He and the young lady are no longer together.
-
Don't give up hope DR ELMORE.....look at the people who HAVE one.....
-
Earlier, I bumped into the young couple across the hall who were just heading out. The kids were at their father's house for the weekend, so they were very excited to be heading off to The Grand to see the new INTO THE WOODS with Johnny Depp. I am still trying to figure out what slasher film they may have confused with this film.

I have been invited to a chili and cornbread party after my Wednesday hike to celebrate New Years early. If I go I have to take some cornbread and I can't find my recipe. If I'm not mistaken we have a couple of experts on the subject. Recipes will be appreciated.
-
My mom had a box mix on her counter. I'm sure that's not the recipe you're looking for
-
I think it was a famous dave's cornbread mix
-
It's supposed to snow here tonight. only 1-3 inches, but I wish it would snow already. We had one sunny day and we're back to the gloom of overcast skies. It's been weeks of clouds. I do not like that
-
Pizza sounds good DR Elmore. I have left over turkey and left over pulled pork. Thinking about putting the pulled pork in the freezer. Hmmm perhaps I'll make a trip to Pizza Ranch. It's a buffet ad I like being able to choose different kinds of pizza and visiting a really good salad bar
-
Of course that would involve me getting out of my chair
-
Watch for them to come home DR TCB and ask them what they thought.
-
I've put the pizza on hold for tomorrow. I'll see what's in the fridge and throw something together. After my Britcoms, I'll crash. I want to get up early and hit the market. Maybe I'll make chili or pasta sauce tomorrow. Or both!
-
So, I sent Gabe a nice Christmas present and mailed it to his mom's house, as that's where he would be. I asked via instant messenger if she got it and she kept saying no. I finally told her I'd check the tracking number when I got back to the office to see what happened to it. She hasn't responded since. I am concerned that she got it and told Gabe it was from her. I should have wrapped the card in the package instead of putting it on the outside. The bad news is I actually lost the tracking number. I just don't believe it wasn't delivered
-
I'm going to have someone ask Gabe if he got an art set for Christmas just to see if she claimed it was from her.
-

I leave Monday for San Antonio.

Did I mention that after all the hoo rah about whether I would take my flute to my friend's party I got another email from a different friend asking if I would like to take my flute to the New Year's Eve party, lol. I calmly said that's for asking but no.
-
elmore, I'm very interested to know what you think of the CD. You know a few of the songs intimately.
-
I had some chicken tenders, then picked up two little packages. The daughter says traffic is horrible - I find that completely odd, although she thought it might just be an accident.
-
Melissa McCarthy is on a rerun of ELLEN today. She was talking about she and her husband going to The Smoke House for dinner for their anniversary. They probably went hoping to see BK there.

LOL, nope.

Famous Dave's Corn Muffins Copycat
(Printable Recipe)
1 3/4 c. cornmeal
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 c. whole milk
1/4 c. buttermilk
1/3 c. vegetable oil
4 Tbl. honey
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grind the cornmeal at high speed in a food processor for 5 minutes or until some of it has become flour. Pour ground cornmeal into a large bowl with the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda and whisk together. In a separate bowl, cream together the eggs, sugar, shortening and vanilla using an electric mixer. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and add the remaining ingredients. Stir together with a rubber spatula until smooth. Line a muffin pan with paper liners. Fill each muffin cup 3/4 full with batter and bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden. Remove from oven and take a cold stick of butter and rub over the top of the rolls until each is coated. Makes 16 muffins. Serve plain or with cinnamon honey butter.

Thanks. How is the mix? I have used Jiffy and been happy with it. A few years back I was determined to "create" a recipe I really like. I think it was for blue corn muffins. I know it wasn't great but I would like to find it.

Thanks anyway.

Just chiming in here to agree that the photos in BK's CD are exceptionally good ones.

I believe both Jeanne & Ginny recommended THE PARADISE. Last night we finished watching season 1 disc 1 and plan to continue watching the series. Thank you.
How does this compare to the book?
I didn't read the book, but I did enjoy the series.

Hello folks, am late to the Prince's ball. Hope you all had a Merry and Happy yesterday!
My girls and I caught "Into the Woods" Xmas day at the wonderful El Capitan movie theatre in Hollywood. I would have asked Mr. Haines for his screener but, besides the fact that this is a no-no, we wanted to see it on the big screen.
Actually it was a very appreciative audience---- pretty much only musical theatre junkies were there in brigades of at least 4+ --- and the song "Agony" got huge laughs as well as other humorous moments in the film. The best part about seeing "Into the Woods" at this venue is the live organ music before the show, as well the exhibit of the film costumes and designer sketches. The costumes were sublime. It gives you a chance to appreciate not only the music, and film (or dislike of it), but the artistry that goes into the finery worn!
I'd agree with Elmore and Bruce's takes on the film. One must already be a fan of this Sondheim opus to really enjoy it. I did, though the story is too long for me, even as a live musical. I think the movie would have benefitted from an old-fashioned intermission before going to the dark side, aka Act 2.
Meryl Streep's "Stay with Me" made me cry, the rest of the cast was admirable, in particular young Daniel Huddleston who played Jack (who was also Gavroche in the film version of Les Mis). Tracy Ullman is perfect, Johnny Depp over the top fun, Christine Baranski as wicked stepmom was delicious.
If you see this film, go for a theatre screening as otherwise you lose the power of the art direction, cinematography, effects and splendor of the costumes.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Chiristmas
-
Ginny I am jealous that you and Rich were able tolunch with John G
-
You all look great - tell Richard I am happy to see the beard making a come back I do a love to see a man with whiskers!
-
speaking of which I came home from work today (I worked a full day an then had a closing afterwards) to find Vixdad clean shaven
it was quite a shock
-
I know the same feeling of shock DR Vixmom. Fortunately it has been years since I experienced it and hope never to again.
-
You were shocked, shocked.
-
I saw "Into the Woods" - loved it, could find nothing wrong with the adaptation.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it
-
Had a ton of fun with the Darling Daughter. She came by at about four and we had a lot of chatter, exchanged gifts, then went and had a bite at the Eclectic Cafe. She left around nine-thirty and I've been catching up on stuff ever since. No time to finish The Fortune, which I'll do tomorrow.
