Good morning, all.
At nine o' the clock last night I suddenly sneezed, and by ten I had a very light but noticeable scratchy throat. I went to bed and had a pretty good solid sleep, but I still feel the effects of those things. Not badly. But they're there. And that just isn't right. Did I not have a cold just two months ago? Why, yes, I did! Just not right. No sir. I'm still hopeful I can fight this one off.
Coffee!
I much prefer reading them, not just for the comments on the item under review, but for what it tells me about the reviewer himself.

What do amazon reviews tell you about the reviewers?
Safe travels to George!

DR Kate's husband thanks you for the birthday cupcakes , DR Jane!
I thought at times at Sandy reminded me of the late great Michelle Nicastro in her rendition of "What Do I Do Now?", and I thought Lanny's chart was a lot of fun. It was nice to hear a different take on the number.
Now, with "Here On Earth," I'll start with me and the show in 2006; it was the last song I scored for the production because I felt it was as good a number as my favorite song from IT'S A BIRD, A PLANE . . ., Lois Lane's lament "Oh, how I wish I weren't in love with Superman." Both of these gentle character songs walk a fine line between the seriousness of the character and the silliness of the situation, and I wanted to get my head around the show and the band before I camped up the number or simply tarted it up. What surprised me about Sandy's rendition is that it's not so funny out of the context of the show - occasional limes declare it's not a song for a pop 40 listening audience - and Lanny's easy chart supports it nicely.
To be catty, he had 35 players, and I had five or six!
Since I don't know BK's MO working with Lanny on this, I don't know how much input he had with intros and interludes, but there were spots in them - not in the vocal material - but in the accompaniments that reminded me of other writers. I kept hearing "A Little Bit In Love" in the accompaniment to "I'm Here," which is really a gorgeous ballad, and some Nino Rota in "Maybe Something More." I really loved the intro to "It Doesn't Get Easier," which is really lovely.
There are also the wonderful trumpet in "Two Roads," a song that would have got for BK a Disney contract around 1968 since it's so good, reminiscent of a lot of the Sherman Brothers, but it still sounds like a BK tune to me, and the wonderful Broadway production number dance break in "Who Do I Have To Blank?"
And those are my thoughts on Lanny's contribution: always imaginative, mostly a bit wonderfully retro, and always so spot-on with the singer.
Sunday afternoon greetings! Today is our Christmas with Rob and Mary Linda, which started with the 10:30am service at their church. When we got home, they put potatoes in their oven and I set the dining room table, from which we can see their Christmas tree. Then we gathered around our tree in the family room to open presents. When the potatoes were nearly done I broiled the bacon-wrapped filets and nuked some broccoli. We opened a bottle of Christmas Red and warmed it, as advised on the label. Dinner was delightful and for dessert we munched on cookies from Central Pastry in Middletown, fruitcake from Gethsemani Monastery in Kentucky, and homemade assorted chocolates from Mary Linda's grandmother's kitchen in Michigan.
Congrats on the cured Apple DR ELMORE.
Keep them vibes coming! I'm so happy to SEE a screen again and not strain my eyes.
Hi guys! Things are still frantically busy but I hope to be back here much more in the newer future
Larry, I want your Mac Man! I wish he were closer. The last guy I tried was a dud.
I'm glad to hear that your computer is up and running again and that you didn't lose any files. I'm also glad you have a back-up computer, even if you don't like it. Have you asked your Mac Man if he can adjust the font size? I have a Macbook, but I haven't played with the settings enough to know if this is possible.
No snow for us....I guess DR CILLA LIZ and DR SINGDAW got all of it.
