Well, you've read the notes, the notes were windy, and now it is time for you to post until the windy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CONSTELLATE!
-
Happy Birthday to Juliana (who has never posted directly to the HHW website), but is a close and personal friend of BK!
-
First post after George!
-
I didn't realize that THE PERILS OF PAULINE was made in 1947. I saw it at a theater in the early 60's.
-
Today on YOU TUBE I watched part of the Diamond Jubilee Concert for Queen Elizabeth. There were all of these celebrities dancing around. I thought I saw Susan Boyle, but it turned out to be Elton John.
-
G'night!
-
Well, this is a really sweet story...Iowa women in love for 72 years finally wed (http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/life/2014/09/16/iowa-lesbians-gay-wedding-years-secret-relationship-davenport/15703647/).
They've been together for more than 70 years, and last year, they finally were able to get married. :D
-
I thought I saw Susan Boyle, but it turned out to be Elton John.
;D
-
It sounds like the winds of January are turning the windmills of bk's mind.
-
Or something like that.
-
I shall be scarce here today, as I have a full day and evening of services and rehearsals.
-
Morning all.
That is all.

Good morning, all! I shan't be leaving home today. I've got a bit of a tuba part to accomplish so I can submit an invoice tomorrow. I am enjoying the work, and I am very very grateful to have it.
My latest Thomas and Charlotte Pitt mystery The Whitechapel Conspiracy, like Bob Clark's wonderful film Murder By Decree, uses the Jack the Ripper conspiracy theory I first encountered in Stephen Knight's 1976 book, Jack the Ripper: The Final Solution, which I believe DNA has now proved false for the Ripper's identity, but it's sure a good read.
And so to work!
-
We started watching FARGO, Season 1 last night on DVD.
We watched it when it aired; thought it was one of the best series I've ever seen on television.
Now, we're halfway through the 10 episodes on the DVD set and that opinion has not changed.
I cannot recommend this show too highly.
-
It was breezy her yesterday but not real windy. I wonder if we'll get windy days today or tomorrow (since we usually get California weather a day or so later).

Judging vibes for MR BK!
-
DR CILLA LIZ - I have seen several of the nominated films.....and I would certainly recommend almost all of them, but particularly:
Into the Woods
Big Eyes
Birdman
I'm seeing American Sniper today.....Whiplash disturbed me a lot.....The Theory of Everything and The Imitation Game were very good, but not as enjoyable to me as the three listed above.
-
Sketching the Skeleton sounds like a movie on the Sy Fy Channel.
-
I guess the SAG awards - named in honor of Susan Sarandon, no doubt - are on this evening.
I may see if I can get through Johnny Weir's foolishness and watch the Men's Long Program this afternoon......he just wears such silly clothes, it's hard to take him seriously.
-
I am going to watch the SAG awards. They are also having a red carpet on E!
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, all.
Busy day as the dance comp continues with a morning full of workshops followed by a lunch on a barge going around the River Walk.
-
Survived my day yesterday almost
Morning saw me going to see Birdman in the morning. I enjoyed the film, but I wonder people who never worked in the theater how they liked the film.
Then I had lunch and went home for a few hours.
Afterward my break I went out for dinner and saw the film The Theory of Everything. I knew the story of Alan Turing especially his sad end, but not the process of decrypting the code.
I read up on the events afterwards and some of the events in the film were fictionalized which is why it says "based on true events". I understand why they did what they did because otherwise there would be no conflict in the story.
-
Also yesterday one year ago I directed a reading of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart. It was for The World AIDS Museum.
Seeing The Imitation Game which was about Alan Turing special. Turingis also part of important speech spoken by Ned in The Normal Heart.
If you haven't seen The Imitation Game or HBO's production of The Normal Heart I suggest you see both.
-
Aw man, I'm bummed I forgot to read yesterday's notes and I missed the TOD. Fortunately, today's TOD is whatever I want, so I'll write about yesterday's TOD. Also, I checked everyone else's posts from yesterday and it appears NO ONE wanted to write about their therapy experiences, so I shall.
I WAS IN GROUP THERAPY! I swear I was. It was about 35 years ago and I've never been in any type of therapy since. I participated in this group my first year in college. It was not at all what I expected it to be and I was disappointed, but for some odd reason I kept going. I thought we were going to find problems we all have in common and discuss them together. But instead, it was more like AA meetings where one person speaks about their personal problems and the rest of the group just eavesdrops. What's the point of being in a group for that? - you may as well just have individual therapy. I once tried to get the therapist to change this format by saying at the beginning of the meeting, "We're all having roommate problems and you have to help all of us at once!" But he ignored me and continued on with his regular format. I never found any of it helpful, except for one piece of advice the therapist gave. I was living with a group of horrible roommates and the therapist asked, "What do you think they think of you?" and I said that I assumed they don't like me either. He said, "I want you to go back to your apartment and act like you believe they like you." So, I did that, and lo and behold they acted differently too and were much nicer. But it was the end of the school year, and I doubt that trick would have worked for very long.
-
Druxy, I loved "Fargo"! I thought it was amazing that the characters were similar to those in the movie version, and yet, it was based on true events that occurred many years later. That said, I can't imagine watching that season twice.
-
I'm up, I'm up. I would have actually gotten more than eight hours had I not been up trying not to have a nauseous tummy for an hour at three. So, maybe seven hours.
-
No nausea vibes for BK!
-
DR Cilla congrats on your win last night.
-
From DR Laura:
A future daughter-in-law's aunt, who just happens to enjoy hiking.
How very nice on both counts, a future daughter-in-law and the bonus of a hiking friend.
-
Congrats to DR Jrand on your wins.
-
DR Mike the message didn't go through so thanks for responding in a post.
-
From DR Cilla:
Is anyone watching Grantchester? It's on after Downton. It's a Masterpiece Mystery. I recorded it and just watched the first episode. I like it!
My brother said he liked it and I should have recorded the first (repeat) episode last night and will be recording the 2nd episode tonight.
-
DR AMY - I have no experience with Therapy....although that is not necessarily a good thing....but that was very interesting.
-
Nausea BeGone vibes for MR BK....
-
And the word of the day is: CONSTELLATE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: I CONCENTRATE ON YOU
-
For a change we went out last night. As we were leaving I went to put my wedding ring on and couldn't find it and had to leave without it. I could not understand how I lost my ring and was extremely upset. Just now I found it. It had fallen into an odd place and I initially missed seeing it. I am incredibly relieved. It took 40 years to get a proper wedding band and I could never have replaced it.
-
I shall now be on my way to judge a singing contest.
-
DR CILLA LIZ - I have seen several of the nominated films.....and I would certainly recommend almost all of them, but particularly:

Thanks BK and Thanks JRand. I know I'm not going to be able to see them all before the Oscars, so I'll probably see most of them when they come out on HBO or I can rent them at home. I'm trying to get a feeling for what people like the best. I missed The Theory of Everything when it was here. I do want to see The Imitation Game and I can't wait for Big Eyes to get here
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! It's cold and rainy here in SW Ohio. We've been to church with Rob and Mary Linda and out to lunch at McAlister's Deli - not Artie's, but it'll do in a pinch.
-

I did figure out one of the main clues immediately, but I wasn't sure about the solution until the end so that was fun. I think there is a lot they can do with the characters and I'm curious to see how it develops

Oh holy moly, I saw Big Eyes and really liked it. I can't believe I forgot that I went to it already
-
I still want to see Unbroken and American Sniper, but have decided to wait and see them at home
-
We had a little film festival in Sioux City that I used to be a part of. It was an afternoon one day and an evening the same day. It has now grown to the point that there are three days and each day is a different genre. I'm looking forward to it.
-
The festival is Feb 26, 27 and 28 they are showing 33 films this year. I'm not sure if they are all shorts or not. It was fun back when I was on the committee, but it will be fun to just go and not have to work
-
And they had to screed 80 films to cut it down to 33 this year. Yikes.
-
Time to get ready to head to flute choir. It's cloudy here. It's above freezing so I think it should be ok driving. Hopefully it will stay that way until I get home
-
DR Cillaliz, Richard and I watched GRANTCHESTER and liked it a lot. We'll tune in again this week.
-
I hope it recorded. I will know tonight when I turn on the tv. We have a movie from Netflix to watch tonight, or the last two episodes of Death in Paradise so we can mail back a disc tomorrow.
I am disappointed Netflix only has the first two season of Death in Paradise. I hope it won't be too long before they get season 3. My brother said season 4 has returned but I don't see the point in skipping a season.
-
DR Jane, DR Ginny or anyone who reads e-books.
For free on amazon.com (they may also have this for nook) the Buzz books coming out in Spring and Summer 2015. it's very interesting (especially for books groups) you get a summary and the first chapters of each book they are saying will be big in 2015.

Pearl White is mentioned in "Sunset Blvd." now I understand.
-
Last night at the theatre I saw Blithe Spirit with Angela Lansbury. It was really great. She was amazing (89 years old!!) and the play itself was really great also. I'd seen it before, but I don't remember it being this funny. If it comes to you town, take a chance a see it.
-
And now I have nothing new to report.

-
DR Jane glad you found your ring.
Thank you. Keith told me if I didn't find it he never wanted me to mention it. I know he was not happy. I once almost lost it and am now obsessive about where I put my ring which made it hard to believe it wasn't where it belongs when I'm not wearing it.

Cilla, I found your teller experiences interesting. Although I chat with lots of people I don't really know, I don't think it would have ever occurred to me to try to discuss anything at any length with a bank teller. Aren't there other customers waiting?
When I lived in Alexandria, VA I banked at Burke & Herbert Bank in Old Town. (DR Kevin will probably know it.) Oldest bank in Virginia, founded in 1852. Had never been bought out, still privately owned. The president used to have a parrot who sat on his shoulder--yes, in his office. I'd always run into people I knew there. Plus, one of the VPs was a very friendly guy and we'd always say hello. I admit it was fun going to that bank.

One day I went into the bank to get cash for a trip to NY--$100, I think. I happened to mention to the teller that I was going to NY. He immediately replied, "Oh, you'll need more than that!" But my hotel and train had been paid in advance by credit card and I use credit cards for most things anyway. I really only needed cash for cabs. I found it amusing that he thought I was taking only $100 for all my expenses.

Re: GRANTCHESTER.
I enjoyed it, too. Back in the 1990s I was a Robson Green fan. He was quite the heartthrob then. My, how he's aged. I guess we all have. He has a nice singing voice and he and Jerome Flynn had several hit CDs under the name of Robson and Jerome.

Nice photo. I think the dancing agrees with you.
-
Jane, I'm glad you found your ring.
Thank you. It was a great sense of relief. My finger felt very bare while we were out last night. We were invited to someone's house we talk to at the gym and it was the first time meeting his wife. I had a nice time but I had to not think about my ring.
-
DR Kevin, and anyone else, how hard do you expect to be hit by the storm?

She's a very nice person, too. She came backstage when I was doing LI'L ABNER at Bluth Brothers and was very supportive and complementary. My cousin's husband was an electrician on MURDER SHE WROTE for many years and said the same thing. She was very highly regarded by cast and crew.

I bet DR Vixmom is happy to be in Florida.

Quirky, to be sure, but I really appreciated the fact that if there was ever a problem I could talk to one of the VPs--RIGHT NOW--and we'd get things straightened out. Completely different from the usual bank where no one seems to be in charge. I've had one or two real horror stories with banks, which had a lot to do with the fact that the senior managers were in another city and quite inaccessible.
-
I'm glad Vixmom is taking some time off.
I don't think DR Chas has mentioned his vacation plans. I hope he'll fill us in at some point.

Thanks. This is a very clever marketing idea. I personally do not like to begin a book and not be able to finish it ;)
I normally don't like samples. But in this case I like it. You can read the summary and then start it to have a better idea if it something you'd like to read.
-
I've spent too much time today obsessing over those lost LaCie files. It's inhibiting my work.
DR Ben and Anthony suggested that maybe Tekserve can help me retrieve the files and I will call them tomorrow when I get home from therapy. I should be home before the storm lands, but I hope it's cold. I am sick of sweating my butt off in this overheated apartment. I shouldn't have to go out again before Thursday.

Honestly we had a number of customers who were lonely. Usually older individuals who just wanted someone to talk to. Sometimes there would be people waiting, but they'd often wait at the end of the line or they had a favorite teller and would wait to talk to them. It was a small town so the line wasn't really much of an issue.

Well.....American Sniper.....same kind of war movie.....different kind of war....
It's not bad in the way The Green Berets movie was about Vietnam....it seems to give a good idea about what it's like right now over there....
Grim.....Bradley Cooper certainly gives an Oscar worthy performance.....but I can understand why it can be a polarizing movie....just as it's a polarizing war.....

Thanks for the movie report. I don't know if we will see it, just because and not due to the protests.
-
Had fun judging - great group of singers this year.
-
Then had a quick and easy work session for the Kritzerland show.
-
Then had a patty melt and a cup of chicken soup and proofed another two chapters.
-
Now I'll relax. Please send strongest most excellent vibes and xylophones for not getting sick.
-
Jane - did I miss congratulating you on post 61000?
I missed a day or two somewhere in there, but promise to catch up.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Page five? Really?
-
Also, glad you found your ring!
-
That's Jane's ring, not BK's ring.
-
Nice post from another board:
"Did her daughter just give the hook to Debbie Reynolds??
She was kinda rambling and repeating herself. But still....It's Debbie F------ Reynolds!!
(on the SAG awards)"
-
Jane - did I miss congratulating you on post 61000?
That's ok because I missed the fact I have posted that many times ;D
-
That's Jane's ring, not BK's ring.
;D
Thank you.
-
Now I'll relax. Please send strongest most excellent vibes and xylophones for not getting sick.

Thanks. This is a very clever marketing idea. I personally do not like to begin a book and not be able to finish it ;)
I normally don't like samples. But in this case I like it. You can read the summary and then start it to have a better idea if it something you'd like to read.
It does look like a good site, and maybe one to go to in the future.
It's not a site. It's 2 e-books to download for free.
-
So, let's have some SAG awards winners.
-
Congratulations on the milestone, Jane.
-
Thanks for posting the picture from the competition, JRand. And thanks, Jeanne and George for the nice comments.
The dancing does seem to agree with me, Jeanne. My partner, Joy, and I won both of our championships yesterday and received first place ratings for each of the dances we did. That's fairly amazing to me since we screwed up a few steps here and there, but Joy's insistence on my learning the most basic steps as perfectly as possible seems to be the secret. So, I still have my work cut out for me. But I'm enjoying it.
-
Have fun celebrating!
Thanks, Jane! I did...and we all did. We basically just sat around several tables and chatted. Several told stories of the now-fired HR manager and at a couple, we all just dropped our jaws! We figured that our new(ish) director took so long to get rid of him because she wanted (needed?) to get enough evidence to justify it, even though he's an exempt employee and can be let go for any reason.
-
I rarely drink, but when I got there, a co-worker said that the first round is being bought, so I had a Bailey's/Kahlua/cream and it was delish. I've had this before. I didn't even get a buzz.
-
About an hour after I got there (and had my first drink), one of the employees of the union arrived and bought a round. I had another. I still didn't get a buzz...which is fine. After I left the party, I went to Subway and had a sub sandwich and now I'm home. :)
-
I'm now watching the season (series?) finale to "Galavant."
-
I totally forgot to record the SAG Awards, so I'm not watching them. Oh, well.
-
Jane - did I miss congratulating you on post 61000?
I missed a day or two somewhere in there, but promise to catch up.
I don't think anyone noticed. Sorry, Jane.
-
Yes vixmom is very happy to be in Florida
-
I have some concerns about the Vixter who will be left to deal with this on her own
-
Good evening, all. Sorry to have been E&T since...what, yesterday morning?
Enjoying Florida, and not at all happy to hear of the coming blizzard. It's supposed to have passed by Wednesday morning, and our flight back is that evening. Neighbor will be plowing the driveway, but it's a tough one and we can only hope our other friend's SUV can get us up it.
Well, aside from a few annoyances, we had an easy December and most of January. And now we're going to pay the piper.
-
Greetings, Vixmom!
We are in Port Orleans Riverside at Disney World.
-
I'm watching Galavant and it's pretty funny! I'm enjoying a lot more than the first couple of episodes.
-
Glad two of you folks are in Florida instead of snow storm central.
-
Watched a weird movie tonight called "The Whole Shebang" with Stanley Tucci, Bridget Fonda and Giancarlo Giannini. It was about an Italian family in the fireworks business. Sadly, fireworks on film don't really work. And these seemed especially cheesy.
But in a supporting role was a very funny Anna Maria Alberghetti.
-
We spent today at nasa it was a beautiful day We took the 3.5 hour history tour really interesting
-
Just spoke with the Vixter hope she is as ready for this storm as she thinks she is
-
I am exhausted so buddy bye time. Vibes for all
-
Well, "Galavant" ended with a bunch of cliff-hangers...they even acknowledged that in the end song. :)
-
So, who won the SAG awards?
-
I think I'm going to write the notes in about twenty minutes, schedule them, take some NyQuil and go to sleep so I can get eight hours before getting up at six.

Screen Actors Guild 51st Annual Life Achievement Award
DEBBIE REYNOLDS
-
And those are the SAG Award winners. :)
-
Michael Keaton not winning the SAG award is a big surprise to me.
-
The season (series?) finale of "Resurrection" just ended.
-
Like "Galavant," it had some cliff-hangers, but it ended like it sort of could be the series finale. We'll just have to wait and see. At least, I haven't heard anything about it coming back or not.
-
And also like "Galavant," I enjoyed these later episodes more than the earlier episodes.
