Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of that Kern fellow, and now it is time for you to post until the Kern cows come home.

And the word of the day is: MULIEBRITY!
-
And a happy haineshisway.com birthday to occasional dear reader and lurker Iris.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Thanks, Bruce for the birthday wishes.
-
And Happy Iris Day!
-
It's kind of snowing here. The storm may be worse on Long Island but it's not bad right now.
Anthony just left to go uptown to get an appointment with VITA to have our taxes done. It's a lot like an important audition. A million actors arrive at the Equity building very early on the first Monday in February to get a limited number of appointments for free tax assistance by trained volunteers. We try to get a time on President's Day so I don't have to take off work but that doesn't always happen and we take what we can get. People begin arriving at the office anywhere from 4-5 am and by 5:30-6 there are well over 150 people. Appointments go very quickly. If you don't get an appointment you can do a walk-in and take your chances. If you get there early enough for a walk-in you can usually be seen.
Anyway, our taxes (both federal and state) should be done within the next couple of weeks.
-
I'll be in the office in a couple of hours. We don't have anything planned for tonight because of the weather and also because Anthony got up at 3 am to get ready to go uptown. We will probably wait until Wednesday because Anthony has a dentist appointment tomorrow at 6 pm.

Oatmeal with walnuts, cinnamon and a banana and black coffee.

Good morning, all! I am debating moving my physical therapy to tomorrow and staying inside today. Decisions, decisions . . .
Last night, I turned off the TV around 8:00, read a bit of the new High McDonald book on Georges Bizet, and slept quite well. My last dream had something to d with an American history class I was attending, leaving it early, and then I seemed to be in a really tacky musical number.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to E&T DR Iris !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anthony got to Equity at about 4:15 am and there were 24 other people waiting for him. He's about to get his appointment (they are starting at 7 am). He'll be home soon.
It's a slushy mess out there, Larry. I would move the appointment and stay home. Even with boots it's a wet mess!
-
I didn't remember that DR Ben's birthday always falls on Groundhog Day. :)
-
Strange how that happens.

-
Good morning, all.
Snow day!
Seriously. It's not a blizzard or anything, but it's a slow moving, slick, nasty snowfall that has a couple of friends' offices closing right off the bat. And they are places that don't like to close. I'm just glad I did my shopping and got other errands done over the weekend.
-
A very very Happy Birthday to DR
Groundhog Ben!!!

Most of my day is going to be spent slaving over a hot keyboard.
-
Our little She Loves Me band meets in two weeks.
And I just learned that our violinist (sadly, just one little violin) was the original concertmistress for The Lion King.
-
And, I believe, has a couple of other Broadway credits.
So that will be nice.
-
Happy, Happy Birthday to DR Ben!

Thank you Kevin. Are you walking around in slush too?

Good luck, Larry!!

I'm up, I'm up. Didn't fall asleep till two, woke up at four, fell back asleep around six and slept till eleven. So whatever that is that is.
-
I've salvaged so far backups from Feb., May, June, and July 2013, and downladed them. I'll know in another couple of days if they've stuck this time. In the meantime, I'm leaving the LaCie on my desktop so i can continue to retrieve items fr the next couple of days. I'm hpng that it does. If not, I'll call Tekserve and see if they can retrieve the backups from it.
-
Anthony got to Equity at about 4:15 am and there were 24 other people waiting for him. He's about to get his appointment (they are starting at 7 am). He'll be home soon.
I hope he stayed warm but at least getting up early paid off.

We just received an email reminding us that 48 years ago today we graduated high school. Living in Southern California we never thought about the fact it was Ground Hog Day.
This means 48 years ago plus 2 days Keith proposed to me. :)
-
"They" said it wouldn't last. Revenge is sweet ;)

We had half years which I think is much better. Each year was divided by semesters. First you were B grade, then A grade. Our winter class was much smaller than the June graduates that followed us. Classmates.com lumps us all into one year.
-
I could really see the difference when Bryan & Craig were in school, instead of only a half year difference in age the full year seemed much greater at times.
-
That's a good school policy DR JANE...
-
Back from a delightful day at the conference. Met up with my grad school friend at a mystery writers panel, after which we went to lunch and another author panel at the Hilton. From there she went to catch her train home and I taxied back to my hotel.
-
DR Jane, you can tell Keith that the shuttles ran throughout the blizzard and received many appreciative tweets at #alamw15. Please give him my extra thanks!

We also had half years in Detroit and I would have graduated at the end of January 1969. Several elementary teachers wanted to "double promote" me, but my parents refused. I took the second half of 8th grade in summer school 1964 and graduated in June of 1968 instead. That explains why Richard's younger brother and are only 5 days apart in age but graduated from high school a year apart. The half year thing was a big city thing and not done in Middletown, OH.

You were still in the age range of the full year students which isn't too bad. My parent's refused to skip my brother even one semester.

It appears that my flight to Dayton for tomorrow has not been cancelled. People who were scheduled to leave yesterday and today have had lots of problems. I realize it could change for me, but I'll hope for the best.
-
My father, who was born and grew up in Detroit (actually River Rouge) was also a half year student. He graduated in January of 1941 from RR High School.
-
Hello, everyone.
Oh dear, I see I missed lots of birthdays. Let's see if we can correct that.

Ginny, I enjoyed your photos from the Chicago storm.

I'm sending whatever computer skills I still possess to you. Remotely.

May the weather hold and your flight home be on time!!!!
-
I recall a surprise storm in Denver causing me to miss my connection to San Francisco. I was very disappointed when I did not get the next flight to SF and had to take the following one. It turned out I was lucky as the first flight was also delayed and people from that flight were on standby for my SF flight home. Had I not been unlucky to begin with I would have likely spent the night at a SF hotel.
-
Happy Happy Birthday to Dear Ben!!!!

Happy Birthday to (Lurker) Iris!

Thanks, DR Jane! There's a little snow in the forecast for tomorrow afternoon, so we'll see...
-
I started the morning by going out to shovel the snow off the drive, walk and stoop and clean off the cars while I was at it the snow to turned to rain teh snow turned to slush and I was soaked and freezing
-
I'm waiting for delivery of the smallest Chicago-style deep dish pizza I could order. It will still be more than I can eat - who wants some?
-
Then I came in showered and went to the office to be greeted with great joy
-
(that was nice)
-
then I saw my desk
-
(not nice)
-
Thanks Dear Deb.
-
The only saving grace was that the snow north of us was so troublesome that most of the offices there were closed and it was relatively quiet for calls and emails
-
This afternoon it started to snow again in earnest. From my office window (I now have a window at my desk to my great joy) I could see all the parking lots in the area emptying and all the roads filling up bumper to bumper I saw several fender benders and one accident that incapacitated two cars which then had to be removed by flatbed truck
-
The Boss (surprisingly) told us we could go home I decided to stay , those who left promised to "mass text" once they arrived home safely it took most of them close to 2 hours to get home (all live within 15 - 20 miles of the office)
I stayed until 5:45 - called in my pizza & wings order to our favorite pizza joint, cleared off my car while it warmed up, picked up my pizza and was home by 6:30 - no traffic at all and the roads were plowed and salted
-
I have decided that I wish to retire to Florida,
-
I would likw the retirement to start tomorrow , please
-
Please deposit a million or two into my paypal account

A woman is suing the restaurant chain P.F. Chang's over the prices of their gluten-free options. According to Nation's Restaurant News, Anna Marie Phillips believes that the surcharge on the restaurant's gluten-free menu "violates the Americans with Disabilities Act" by forcing those who cannot eat gluten to pay more. Currently, P.F. Chang's charges gluten-free diners an additional dollar per item, compared to the regular versions of the dishes. The lawsuit argues that the pricing discriminates against consumers with celiac disease.

Is this woman going to sue EVERY restaurant or store that charges more for gluten-free stuff? :-\ They ALL do!

I wrote that before seeing Jane's post Great minds :)
-
Wild Celebrity Apprentice tonight. Good to see Joan Rivers. This must have been shortly before she died, she's pretty hoarse
-
DR Jennifer, my swim cap has become all sticky. Do you have any suggestions how to fix this?
Buy a new one. :)
I usually use the material ones that don't get sticky.

It isn't very old. I liked this because I can/could easily fit it over my hair. What kind do you buy?

No specific brand. it's just material instead of plastic.
My niece gets hers at a special swimming store and they seem to last a long time. Maybe more expensive caps last longer? Her last cap she won (they give them as prizes a lot if you win races at swimming meets).
Sorry i can't be more helpful.

Well, it's time for me to leave work. I'm not going home, though. My parents got a discounted stay (I think) at a casino near the beach. Anyway, they want me to sleep over for two nights to watch their cat. My mom made stuff for tacos, so I'll be fed. I just need to let out Henry (the cat, named for Henry Fonda) every morning and to make sure that he's back in before I leave for work.
-
They live about 11 miles from my work, whereas I live only 1 mile away. I don't like early mornings, and now I'll have to deal with that, AND the commute...granted, it's only for two days. I'll survive. ;) They have a laptop and a computer, and I'm bringing my new tablet, so I'll still be connected.
Be back later!
-
Just finished watching "Jersey Boys." I found what Clint Eastwood brought to the movie to be everything that was wrong with the movie.
Good cast, fine performances of the songs, but everything from the drab look of the film to the ham-handed pacing was wrong. One of the weird things is how minor he made the music seem, cutting songs short so there could be more dialogue.
-
I don't want to work tonight.
-
Six!
-
Oh, my...a lull. :-\
-
I'm at my parents' house and am watching TV now.
-
I watched tonight's two episodes of "Antiques Roadshow" and now am watching "Castle."
-
Henry, my parents' cat, is fine and has been fed, as have I. My mom left some taco stuff and it was quite good. :)
-
There's more than enough for tomorrow night, and whatever is left will be taken with me to my home on Wednesday.
-
I am on my iPad briefly. Internet is screwed, but repairman is due on Wednesday. Sorry, but it doesn't look like anyone is missing me.
-
Eight pages on Saturday, seven pages on Sunday, and already six pages today. Looks like I have no worries while I am gone.
-
Oh, oh! WIFI is getting wonky.
-
Well, I hate to do this (no, really I do!) but I'm going to go to bed. Nothing's on TV that I want to watch. I have a couple of shows on my DVR at home, but that's at my home. I have my Kindle, so I have stuff to read.
-
So, good night, all!
-
Back from a fairly spectacular show - the consensus was one of our all-time best.
