Well, you've read the notes, the notes wore yellow rubber galoshes, and now it is time for you to post until the yellow rubber galoshes-wearing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WINNOW!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all! After a rather unsettling dream that seemed a mashup of JURASSIC PARK and CLOVERDALE, I was wide awake around 4:45 this morning. After an hour, I decided to get out of bed and prepare for the day.
-
good morning to all

TCM has started their annual oscar winning film broadcasts. I already have a bunch taped. I started with Grand Hotel the other night and plan to finish it over the weekend.
-
and that was a great review in Cabaret Scenes
-
From yesterday
DR Ginny
I have spent the afternoon "finishing the hat" - my 4th red baby hat, to be exact. They are for a heart health awareness project at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati:

She gave us a song cue and here it is
Finishing a hat...
Starting on a hat...
Finishing a hat...
Look I made a hat...
Where there never was a hat.

Good morning, all.
Well, I was progressing through this cold just fine until last night when I suddenly felt this tell-tale sensation in my ear. Sure enough, within ten minutes I knew I had an ear infection. Just like that. So I have no choice but to call for a doctor's appointment and get antibiotics. Or whatever they give for ear infections these days. Last one I had was twenty years ago.
-
Before doing that (they open in a few minutes), I wish to immortalize the last words of DR vixmom last night:
Sorry I jeep fixing of godnigt
Poetry. Sheer poetry.
-
Very very nice review, BK.
-
It's Friday. Really Friday.
-
Okay, they'll see me at 10:15. I wonder what this will do to my wallet. I'm officially in Medicare now but I haven't yet gotten my supplemental insurance for prescriptions and whatnot, so I'm probably in for some sticker shock at the pharmacy.

Congrats on the Cabaret Scenes review!!!

The Prezzy-dint is going to be in Indy today.....I will do my best to ignore this event.

TOD:
Nada......working on lines.
-
On Wednesday night I watched a movie titled EDGE OF ETERNITY directed by Donald Siegel....with Cornel Wilde and Victoria Shaw and Mickey Shaugnessy....
I had never even heard of this 1959 film.....it was filmed on location in Kingman, Arizona, in Mohave County. There was a lot of filming at the Grand Canyon with airplanes and helicopters....it was very exciting in color and CinemaScope. They also used a "dancing bucket" across the canyon for the exciting ending.... Special credit was given to U.S. Guano who owned the equipment.
I saw it on Encore Retro channel, but it might be available elsewhere.
Shaw drives a yellow 1958 Thunderbird convertible and wears some great clothes, her brother drives a 1958 Edsel station wagon, and her father drives a 1958 Lincoln, although we only see it parked in the carport.
-
I love THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO. It's one of my favorite Woody Allen movies.

I am not looking for a come-back in yellow galoshes. What I'm looking for is those clearish plastic things that you wore over your shoes on rainy days, and they only just covered your shoes. They didn't go as high up your leg as a boot, like galoshes do. So, they weren't nearly as ugly as yellow galoshes. They were meant more for grown-ups because grown-ups would never want to be seen in those silly yellow galoshes that their children wore. And they fastened with a loop on one side that you pulled over to the other side and slid over a button. I would love to have a pair of those now. Where I work, the gutters get so flooded when it rains that I can't possibly leap from the street to the sidewalk without drenching one foot in a puddle. Does anyone here remember those clearish plastic things you wore over your shoes? I don't even know what they were called. I've tried a few times to see if I can still buy a pair, but I can't find them online. If anyone knows where I can still buy those, please do tell.
-
Friday morning greetings! After waking up at 5am Wednesday for my suitcase and 6:30 yesterday for my medical test, I enjoyed a sleep-in today. Soon I'll take a basement walk, get cleaned up, visit Mom, and go grocery shopping.
-
TOD:
Not sure what we'll be watching this weekend. I shut down my Netflix account because they are having problems with the post office. Since the first of the year, discs are taking an extras day or two in the mail, so that cuts the number of discs you can get in a month by between a third and a half.
Maybe I'll finally try Redbox.

Here's how my former employer, Dayton Metro Library, "Goes Red" for women's heart health today:

TOD:
Got the last of the Strauss Festival tonight with Heldenleben on the program, plus Itzak Perlman on Sunday. Perlman sold out his show, so he added 65 or so seats on stage with him.
I doubt I'll get to any DVDs, but I am listening to some Cole Porter from the 1920s as well as Stephen King's Revival, which is fun, but the middle has begun to sag a little.

TOD - I'm wiping my iPod and starting over. Things aren't playing right, things are disappearing, we'll see if this helps.
-
Thanks, DR Kate, for that quote by Pope Francis. If only someone could send that to the Archbishop of SF, who at the moment, is acting like the Pope's messages about judgement don't apply to him.
-
It has been pouring rain and extremely windy since last night. Throughout, we keep loosing power. I need a new backup battery for my computer and so I continuously have to restart my computer, good thing I haven't been on it much and am busy cleaning drawers and cabinets today.

From DR TCB:
Is everyone familiar with those bed pillows, the ones with the armrests. Well, I have had several over the years, but I always hoped they would be very comfortable, but they never were. So, I finally bought one last year from Hammacher and Schlemmer. And surprise surprise, it is wonderful. It has heat and vibration, and a cup holder, and a reading light. It is the greatest!
Shhhh, don't tell Keith, he will want one.
-
TRAVEL VIBES FOR DR VIXTER!!!!!
-
DR TCB I looked for your bed chair/lounger and couldn't find it. I'm guessing they don't carry it anymore.

I like how you accented the kitchen in red.
-
All caught up before I loose power again.
-
Nice to see you, Kate. What's been happening with your house after the flood?
Loved "Cradle Will Rock," even if it has some problems. Any chance to hear the music in that is great.
And I'm a sucker for Clue, the Movie, largely because of the cast: Madeline Kahn, Eileen Brennan, Leslie Ann Warren.

Thank you, Elmore. I have the files downloaded from your upload.

Hello All:
I'M BACK!!! :) ;) :)
Welcome back, Kate! Sorry I missed you.

RULE BRITANNIA, BY DAPHNE DU MAURIER
THREE SHORT NOVELS, BY DOSTOEVSKY ( I love short stories)

If you love short stories, you should check out the stories of Fredric Brown. I LOVE his science fiction short stories.
-
And yes, "Fredric" is how you spell his first name. :)

I have added a blender and toaster DR JANE since that picture was taken.....you can see the coffee maker if you scroll over....
-
Thank you, Elmore. I have the files downloaded from your upload.
Mother Goose, too?
Yup.
-
When one of my sisters in law saw it for the first time.....she said: "Oh, yes....I had a lot of red accents in my kitchen - back when it was popular....."
-
She is my third sister in law with this one brother.
-
Oh, my. :-\
-
DR George, the DVD just arrived. Thank you!
-
My PAINT YOUR WAGON score and CD just arrived!

I went back and scrolled over on the photo. We have dark red accents in our kitchen. I like it though I didn't think to add red books.

I assure you, considering how many red counter top appliances, dishes, etc, are for sale red is currently popular.

We did errands and passed a number of small waterfalls that did not exist yesterday. All is well here thanks to work we have done over the past years. Keith went outside to do a little digging to divert water in one area.
-
DR George, the DVD just arrived. Thank you!
You're welcome! And thanks for the e-mails! ;D

Today, I became a Redbox customer for the first time (I had a coupon for a free rental.)
Very simple process. I no longer have to depend on the mail for my next Netflix, and I can just rent the movies that actually interest me, rather than signing up for one month. Netflix is going to have to fix their problem with the U.S. Mail or their DVD/Blu-ray business is going to disappear very fast.
So, I rented A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES with Liam Neeson. I understand it's pretty good.

It is very good and convenient for first run films. You still need Netflix for anything older and for all the wonderful PBS shows.

Well DR JANE I guess you and I will have to be content with being behind the times. I got all my red cookbooks at the Goodwill store - most of them were $2 - and some of them are interesting!
-
Good deals on your books.
-
A lovely package from DR George was also awaiting me when I got home today.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, DR George! :)

Amy, I know exactly what you are talking about. My mother wouldn't wear anything but those. I haven't seen them in twenty years, but then I haven't been looking.

North Korea's doing, no doubt.
-
Well, you've read the notes, the notes wore yellow rubber galoshes, and now it is time for you to post until the yellow rubber galoshes-wearing cows come home.
I never had yellow galoshes. I believe mine were red. (Second hand probably.) I did have a yellow slicker, like every other child in my kindergarten class. And when it rains, like it is raining today; I can still smell that certain smell that comes from wet vinyl in a small enclosed room.
-
We haven't lost power but the internet keeps going out.
;D
I'm guessing it is weather related. We are lucky to have power.
The news reported a landslide near us. I think it would have been beneficial to say how far up the road it is and not just that it is near the lake. I certainly isn't near our part of the lake, that we were very pleased to see has filled up drastically. We had never seen the lake water so low.
North Korea's doing, no doubt.
-
Good evening!
-
Thank you, George!
-
I cannot recall ever having galoshes. I have often thought the clear ones to go over shoes made more sense.
I asked Keith and he recalls having black ones. Either I had them and don't remember or my mother didn't think I really needed them in So. California since she grew up in England.
-
After a very cold couple of days, it's going to be in the 50's over the weekend, possibly as high as 59 on Sunday!
-
Really! Enjoy the weekend.
-
Good evening.

DR Ginny did you see the new Maisie Dobbs book, A Dangerous Place, at the ALA?

DR TCB I looked for your bed chair/lounger and couldn't find it. I'm guessing they don't carry it anymore.
That is really weird. I thought that I had bought it from them. This one is similar, but it isn't it.

Yes, I did, and passed up a free copy, thinking my bag would get too heavy. One more wouldn't have hurt, right?
-
Silly!!! You should have taken it. Oh well, I'm sure your library will have it. Goodreads sent me a notice today the book will be out in March and I truly was surprised I hadn't seen it in your books ;D
-
Tonight, thanks to Netflix, we have THE PARADISE season 1, disc 3 to watch.
-
Silly!!! You should have taken it. Oh well, I'm sure your library will have it. Goodreads sent me a notice today the book will be out in March and I truly was surprised I hadn't seen it in your books ;D
I think I saw it Saturday when I hadn't yet found the FedEx office in my hotel. Knowing I'd be able to ship a box home changed my strategy when I got back to the exhibit hall on Monday.
-
Sorry I was tied up fixing the godngt on my jeep
-
I laughed , I cried I feel loved
thank you all
it was the lousiest day of a really lousy week and you made me feel better and I am glad to be here
-
DR Jane my library just got the new Lisa Gardner book, Crash & Burn.
Also did anybody else watch and love the CBS show Unforgettable (that CBS annoyingly cancelled after a cliffhanger)?
I loved that show. It looks very likely that A&E will be picking up the next season. I am super happy about this. I loved this show, especially with the changes they made in the last season.
-
My eBook library doesn't have it but I save a reminder to look again.

Ah. A lull.

Thanks Sing! Vixdad just took me to the IHOP where I had my beloved 1/2 order of chicken crepe.. Chunks of broiled Chicken breast, spinach, onions ,mushrooms and holandaise .....so good
Why don't you get a full order? That way you could have a second meal of it the next day.
-
Home after a very long day. Did have Dino's Pizza and was still hungry so had a Subway Club, too, later.
-
The Friday Night Blues
-
I got my Wolfgang Puck oven today. Now I need to take a course on how to use it.
-
I guess I will start with something easy, like a roast.
-
Or perhaps a turkey breast.
-
Or maybe I should start with cookies?
-
It was in the high 50's today, but it was still wet.
-
We are in the midst of a Pineapple Express, so it is going to be wet and warm for another week.
-
I saw Ashland on the news tonight. Wind storm or landslide.
-
They said we had high winds gusts here, but I didn't feel them.
-
I really want to see the DVD of NIGHT WILL FALL that George sent me, but I guess I need to be in the right mood to watch it.
-
Tired.
-
I hope that Vixmom can relax this weekend. It doesn't do much good to take a vacation if you come back to 70 hours a week of working your rear off.
-
I didn't even leave the apartment today. I did have all the curtains open so that I could watch the weather, but that was it!
-
I guess I should sign off and get ready for bed.
-
G'night!

I had a really strange week. I was very upset about the thing at work. It was made very clear to me that there would be not deal in a case that I thought had been worked out a couple months ago. I really felt like I got sandbagged by someone who I've known for 20 years. It would be more of a mess if my client and I didn't agree that she should fight this. This is a winnable case, so maybe it's best the deal went away. After talking to my client this afternoon I'm getting excited about trying the case. It's very high profile locally and will probably go to trial this summer.
-
I lost 2 hours and 45 minutes of my life watching Boyhood
-
I still have to write my brief, but I'm feeling so much better this weekend than last that I think I can zip right through it tomorrow

I've got to go to the office in the morning and then will work at home the rest of the day. After having an afternoon off and a movie night with my friend, I really feel like working tomorrow.

There was a big raccoon under my window tonight. I chased it away, but it's time to stop feeding the birds and squirrels for awhile. I do not want the raccoons hanging out too close to my house.
-
Plus it's going to be warmer this weekend and will be melting. They can find food without me feeding them

Lets see. I don't know much more than this. It is nice to have the living room looking a lot cleaner than it was. I may even have a fire in the fireplace tomorrow. That may be nice while I write my brief. I have some of those manufactured logs, I got them a few years ago, but I think they should still work.

Ok time for bed. I'm going to turn off my phone. Paul likes to call before 8:00 AM on Saturdays to go to breakfast. It's one of the only times I can sleep all week, so I really have to mute the phone or he'll wake me up before I want to get up.

Well, it wasn't very interesting but it got us to page 6

I love that bed rest thing, TCB. I have the good old pillow with tiny little arms thing. It isn't comfortable but I used it when I was injured and was able to sleep. I'm thinking about getting one like yours. It would be nice when I want to read in bed
