Well, you've read the notes, the notes flew on a wing and a prayer, and now it is time for you to post until the winged cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: POLYPHAGIA!
-
Topic of the Day:
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Charade
The Children's Hour
My Fair Lady
Robin and Marian

David Carroll continued from yesterday...HERE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPRuj6TtRKo) he is on The Donahue Show singing "Love Can't Happen" with Maury Yeston on the piano.
Just had to share. :)
-
Thanks for the video links, DR George.
-
Well, I did have to work late last night... but not all the way to midnight, which was nice.
-
Terrific video links, George!
-
DR Ginny - the St. Olaf Choir was really wonderful. Do you want me to send you a copy of the program?
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
According to the weather bug it's 4 degrees in Manhattan.
-
We will be going out anyway around 10am to get our taxes done.
-
Oatmeal, banana, walnuts and cinnamon and black coffee.

Over the weekend we watched a truly dreadful version of "No, No, Nanette" from 1940 with Anna Neagle and Victor Mature. It wasn't remotely the Nanette from 1925 or even 1971. It was on Moonlight Movies, one of the Roku channels. It was listed as the 1930 version with Bernice Claire, only the 1930 version is a lost film. Some of the soundtrack still exists on Vitaphone discs but the film itself is lost. The 1940 version tinkered with the plot and used only 2.5 songs from the show. There was some underscoring using music from the show but that was it. We watched until the end because we couldn't believe how bad it was.
-
Stay warm those of you in the cold.
I'm off to get ready for taxes.

good morning to all

Interesting, we just watched SABRINA last night.
I also like:
MY FAIR LADY
WAIT UNTIL DARK
CHARADE
ROMAN HOLIDAY
THE UNFORGIVEN, which we watched a couple of weeks ago.

Good morning, all.
Boy, am I ready for a day of warmth and rest. I do have to go out at some point, but that will be no biggie.
Coffee!
-
Some interesting dreams last night, which I'm still trying to recapture and mull over. The grand finale took place in one of my creations of a dramatic, almost "mythological" hillside setting which is one of my "themes". None of the dreams can be easily described -- to myself, let alone others.
-
Good morning, all! The news tells me that a huge 4:15am water leak at the lower Manhattan Holiday Inn has sent its customers out into the cold. How awful! I have to go out in the cold around 10:15 and I am not looking forward to it.
-
Joshie and I have an organizational meeting to determine the needed work before the Feb 27 band rehearsal for Paint Your Wagon. It's currently 4 degrees F outside. I want to go out about as much as I'd like a non-anesthesia hemorrhoidectomy.
-
DR George, I met David Carroll in 1983 or so, on the New Amstrdam Theatre Company's production of Roberta, for which I orchestrated the "I Won't Dance" and "Lovely To Look At" that are on the new recording. I had seen David in a lousy version of The Wind In The Willows, with a great cast including Nathan Lane and Vicki Lewis and a beautiful score. In Roberta, David played the football star, Judy Blazer was the Russian Princess, Paula Lawrence was Aunt Minnie, and Rusty Thacker and Loni Ackerman were Fred and Ginger. I liked David a lot, and my last memories of seeing him were backstage after Grand Hotel and a guest appearance, which was not too long before both of them died, with the late Wally Harper for the New York City Gay Men's Chorus.
Sad loss.

Nice to see DRvixmom with us again! Do we have DR JRand64 with us today?
Before my a;arm rang, I dreamed that I was in rehearsals for JUBILEE with Kristin Chenoweth as the "Begin the Beguine" singer. She would have been my choice for the role onstage or recording fifteen or twenty years ago.
-
OMG. Today is MY day (mine! all mine!) to spend on PAINT YOUR WAGON. Finally!
-
I can get back to SHE LOVES ME tomorrow. I just need to tweak a few things, and figure out how to play a couple of passages that are in no way suitably arranged for keyboard. One of them is completely laughable.
-
Monday morning greetings! It's been snowing steadily since I got up just before 8, but it's very fine and not accumulating very fast. We're on the northern edge of the storm that's roaring through Kentucky and Tennessee.
-
DR Ginny - the St. Olaf Choir was really wonderful. Do you want me to send you a copy of the program?
It's very sweet of you to offer, DR Singdaw, but I'm trying to put last Wednesday out of my mind. Thanks for thinking of us - glad you enjoyed the concert!
-
I iz here.
-
Well my highly anticipated first rehearsal for ANTIGONE has been postponed because of all of the [unpredicted] snow......so I guess my first rehearsal will be February 26.
-
I first remember Mr Louis Jourdan on NBC's Saturday Night at the Movies with Debra Paget in BIRD OF PARADISE.
Also featuring Jeff Chandler.....and for some reason the Yiddish Theatre's Maurice Schwartz as The Kahuna.

Good morning, all.
I have a bit of catchup to do. Yesterday was just too busy to get to the computer.

Well, it'll cost $50 to have the three evil trees removed, a heck of a lot cheaper than the trip to the emergency clinic. When will I ever learn?

David Carroll's voice, along with Judy Kuhn's, is one of the real joys of the Chess OBC. I respond as much to their performances as to the music, which I like a lot.
-
I hope everything is fixed today. I believe my last attempt to comment was regarding DR Jrand's brother seeing the post on facebook that the car wouldn't start, and then rushed over to help :)
I was missing a good many posts prior to that. I could only see a few here and there.
-
My goal is to be married at least 60 years. We "only" need to be 80 years old to manage that.
-
I just had confirmation our new carpets will be installed tomorrow. I cleared everything out of our bedroom possible, now to do our closet.
-
How could I forget about TWO FOR THE ROAD?
Thanks for reminding me DR GINNY.
-
We have watched TWO FOR THE ROAD too many times to count.
-
Excellent list Ginny.
-
How could I forget about TWO FOR THE ROAD?
Thanks for reminding me DR GINNY.
I don't think I've ever seen that all the way through. I know I've seen part of it. So, I put it on hold at the library.
-
I just got this email from our DR TCB: I can't get in to HHW today. Is this system ever going to be fixed? I'm beginning to take it personal.
-
And I am home from City Center, Joshie, and a surprise visit from Rob Berman, wh was there to rehearse with our leading man for PAINT YOUR WAGON. I know the cast but I am sworn to secrecy.
-
I'm up, I'm up. I think I got nine hours of sleep and have pretty much missed the morning.
-
Slow news day.....still snowing at my house.
-
I just got this email from our DR TCB: I can't get in to HHW today. Is this system ever going to be fixed? I'm beginning to take it personal.
I walked away for awhile and it finally loaded.
-
It's loading okay here - not perfect but I can get in, read and post.
-
I believe it's being worked on right now, but I'll check in a bit and see how they're progressing.

Lesley Gore (http://www.itv.com/news/2015-02-16/its-my-party-singer-lesley-gore-dies-of-cancer-aged-68/)
died of cancer today at 68. I have the most wonderful memories of her from television and listening to AM radio as a youngster.
-
I was just going to report on Lesley Gore. So sad.

So, DR TCB has reported this about the HHW site: The site won't load in. It just keeps searching for it.
-
Damn this thing is slow! But, at least, I am in for the moment.
-
DR JOHN G we have received about 2 inches of snow.....just south of us.....towns have gotten 7 inches.....so we are lucky.
There was no school today, so I guess they didn't feel the need to plow the streets.
-
Very sad about Lesley Gore......she was certainly of her time. And I've always thought Quincy Jones made Michael Jackson sound a lot like her.....

I should watch SKI PARTY again, just to watch her do "Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows."

Heard from web guy and he's working on it right now at the data center. He'll keep me updated.

Co-Written by Marvin Hamlisch.......
And featuring Deborah Walley singing "I'll Never Change Him" - Annette's solo that was cut out of BEACH BLANKET BINGO when SKI PARTY escaped.....I mean....was released.

And I am back, sort of.
-
This is the longest I have been on here in the last few days.
-
Page 3? I must not be the only one who has been having trouble.
-
Right here in River City?
-
Good afternoon. A lovely day in Arizona, and all of the birds were in bad light.
-
I believe it's being worked on right now, but I'll check in a bit and see how they're progressing.
Good because I was just about to give up.
-
I am confused why some people are having trouble on HHW. Yet I have not had trouble at all the past few days. You'd think it would be an all or nothing deal.
-
We went for a walk and I only needed to wear a t-shirt and jeans. I can't believe it is February. As lovely as it is here, happily, they are skiing up on the mountain.
-
Everything loaded quite well!!!
-
Spent the day with my mom. I baked gluten free scones for breakfast and then we went shopping. It was a lovely day.
-
Was David Carroll ill when he performed in the Macy's parade. He doesn't look very well.

I believe that most all of our ski resorts have closed due to lack of snow.
-
DR JENNIFER the servers for some locations might be different.
-
I'm still having trouble.
DR TCB I hope your ski areas get some snow. I'm relieved Mt Ashland will now survive another year.
-
OK, Laura, spill the beans.
Is your husband walking around in his underpants???

They can have ours :P

I don't know what the problem is exactly, but it obviously affects different dear readers differently - that's part of the problem in assessing the problem. But I think after today things will be better, so no one needs to give up. We've been through much worse than this, technically.
-
I have to urge to see this film, but this review is probably a lot more fun:

Yes, he was dying, which is why he left the show. Because of the legal tangles with the music and lyrics, the cast recording wasn't made until he was literally dying. He collapsed at the recording studio and died shortly thereafter, as I recall.

No one is completely giving up, just not checking as often or waiting around if it is slow.

David Carroll had done this demo of Skip's song "Time and Time Again" (sung with Janie Smulyan)

Hello, everyone.
-
FYI, Bruce: I tried repeatedly to access the site yesterday, but to no avail. Just now I was able to read the first three pages just fine, then page four hung. After my first post I received an error message telling me I couldn't post, and yet it posted. So, yes, it isn't right yet and is indeed peculiar.
-
Hey there , hi there, ho there!!
-
George by any chance did you record the SNL special?
-
I had a regular day at work
-
I've been busy around the apartment. I've lost 25 lbs so from time to time I have to do the try-on drill. What a jumble! Piles of "it fits," "too big," "still a bit small," and "charity." All that is sorted now.
Yesterday I went through my books. Too bad DR Ginny isn't closer. I filled two big bags with books to give away. I'll donate them to a local library. Even many libraries don't want books these days. Such a shame! I found one nearby that still accepts donations.
-
Vixmom is here so early!
-
Well, silly me. I put all my news in one post.
-
Hello, Vixmom. How are you doing?
-
Posting and scrolling are both very slow. I'll check back later. Hopefully, things will be back to normal soon.
-
If any one in NY goes to see Brooklynite please let me know. My friend's niece is in it, the one married to Leslie Odom.
-
Damn this thing is slow! But, at least, I am in for the moment.
Everything was fine earlier, and then a little while ago, everything came to practically a standstill. :P
-
Terrible. I'm having a very bad conversation right now.
-
I was thrown out again and couldn't log on on either iPad or laptop. Finally allowed to log on sign on the ipad
-
It took over a minute for tha post to load
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
That's a joke, folks.
No new notes but the site seems to be back up.
I couldn't get on at 4:30 this morning and I've been checking off and on all morning. It just came back up.
I'll check again later for more information.
-
I also was just able to get back on.
-
Good morning to all
-
BK posted some great videos on Facebook from an old series he did.
It's finally great to see the images match the audio I've heard over the years.
-
I'll also check back later at work.
-
And I am back after two hours to trying to get the site to load in.
Good to be back.
-
Likewise!
Good morning, all. In last night's thread! :)
-
Good morning. Likewise, in last night's thread.
-
After I posted that I had been having no trouble I had trouble. Could not log on this morning. But now it is fine for me.
-
Seems strange to be posting in yesterday's thread, but better that than not posting at all.
Good morning, all.
-
Let's move on.
-
Five!
-
Washington DC government isclosed down for the weather. Joshie, Rob Berman, and ZORBA are on hold.
What a bunch of wimps. You gotta be tough or insane or both to live in Manhattan. We should run the government.
-
New notes should be up soon.
-
DR ELMORE I always thought Betty Hutton and Gale Storm should be put in charge in Washington D.C. - those gals could get anything done.
Of course now it's too late to create the Hottentot Ticket.
-
They have given my Aunt Edith about 96 hours to live.....she is my mother's oldest sister....she has had a long full life....
-
Our thoughts are with you, Jrand.
-
I'm up, have posted the notes, am disgusted with our web people, and am going to try and get another hour or two of sleep. I'm told we became fully functional at eight this morning my time - twelve hours later.
-
Seems to be working okay now.
-
And I will post those videos here in tomorrow's notes, which will be coming on time.
