Well, you've read the notes, the notes were spectacularly good, and now it is time for you to post until the spectacularly good cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GAMBOGE!
-
Glad to hear that you had a good show last night, bk. There's not a better feeling in the world!
-
Time to make the donuts, DR vixmom?
-
Good morning, all.
I woke up at 4:44 AM to heed nature's call, and once back in bed I checked in on this here place via my phone. Within a minute I was back to sawing logs, or I would have been first. FIRST!
-
So, in the Just What We Needed department, we got thoroughly dumped on with who the hell knows how much more snow -- several inches, at any rate -- and we're waiting on Mr. Plow Man to come around and do his thing.
-
We'll I am playing hooky from church which is especially heinous as I am the assisting minister today
-
I can't face going out to shovel out again. I am going back to bed
-
Good to hear that the show was beautifully back on track last night.
During Avenue Q, we had one of those stinkers that you just want to put out of your mind forever. It, too, was the first show of the second week, so often a deadly affair. In our case, it was a "pay what you want to attend the brush-up" thingy, and some people truly got what they paid for.
-
I left a message on pastor's voicemail. I hope he hears it
-
Congratulations on the great show bk!
-
Vixmom, I know what you mean by not being able to face going out there today. This storm is a huge amount of insult upon injury.
-
And injury upon insult, in case it needs saying.
-
Good morning to all
-
I am going to a combination NASCAR/Academy Awards party.
A full day of eating foods I shouldn't be eating and watching two sports programs
-
I'm on my way to the vet to see if Kismet can have his satellite dish taken off him and that he has healed properly enough.
-
I'll try to check in from time via my iPhone, but the easiest way to do things.
-
Sunday morning greetings! The young folks in our household are going to church, but Richard and I are staying in. Too much snow and ice out there for us.
-
I checked in on this here place via my phone. Within a minute I was back to sawing logs
Sorry that my meager posts put you back to sleep, DR ChasSmith! ;)
-
Good morning, all! I slept poorly, with too many unsettling dreams, one involving apples and snakes, so maybe I am Adam reincarnate. Someone/something was whistling in the apartment just before I turned off the lights and that creeped me out a bit; I've heard voices in different languages but never a whistler before.
I've got three pages of a celesta part to copy for Friday's band rehearsal, a small shopping trip, and some tidying up here. Tomorrow, I have a day at City Center, then dinner with Annalene. Tuesday, i begin my IRS prep for my accountant on March 3, and that will take up most of my week.
-
Good morning!
-
I got a response to my email to the cable rep. I'll forward it to you, BK.
-
TCB--My sister-in-law makes buckeyes. They're really delicious. Dark chocolate covered peanut butter, which I believe is also mixed with butter. Not exactly low calorie, but who cares?
-
I guess we got off pretty easy in my area, snow-wise. My car appears to have only a couple of inches on it. Of course the roads are slippery, no doubt.
-
Off now to sing for the people.
-
The "Ethan" CD set arrived yesterday, and I can't wait to hear it properly on the Big Speakers.
-
Which will have to be tomorrow.
-
As I was saying.....
-
We received about 4 inches of snow early on Saturday morning.....so yesterday's activities were a bit more difficult than even expected.
I got up and started my car.....which was good....the first time in three days that is started.
I shoveled the sidewalk and the driveway. I put down salt on the sidewalk and some of the driveway. I walked the dog. I came back in and read my email and looked at Facebook. I got out my suit, shirt, and tie.
And then I remembered that I had left the car running......hopefully that charged up the battery a bit.....since it was running for more than 45 minutes.
-
At eleven a.m. my sister Paula came by. My brother Mike, our cousin Michelle, and I rode with her to the funeral home.
It was a very low key gathering. Many people were unable to be there because of the weather.....so much time was spent sharing memories of our childhoods and our dear aunt.
It was nice to see my cousins and their children AND their spouses....and my cousins' grandchildren.
But it was an exhausting day, as everyone knows.....because everyone has been there.
-
The DREAM-O-MATIC 6000 found MR BK's dream most interesting.
The location of the relationship with the flirtatious person being changed to NYC indicates that there is some regret about not pursuing someone in the past.....or a pondering that a relationship was ended because of the time spent pursuing the career.
The dream occurring during the waxing moon cycle tells us that a person or romantic interested from the past may suddenly reappear between now and March 5 - or a person may make feelings known.....
In any case, the next week or ten days should bring romantic feelings to the front.....so MR BK must be prepared to move forward OR move away.

DR TCB, to answer your question from last night: Yes, I've eaten Buckeyes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckeye_candy) and I've even made them once or twice. You have to like peanut butter a lot more than chocolate, because it's kind of overwhelming.
-
Oh yes DR ELMORE - it has it's own climate controlled environment in my living quarters.
-
I am caught up on work at the moment - I guess it's because I have so little work now - and i think I will begin a BBC series i've wanted to see for some time.
-
Excuse me! Is this the same site that is going to be hosting THE Oscar Viewing Party? Page 2??
-
And no posts in an hour?
-
I guess Ginny and I will have to tango!
-
Or make Buckeyes!
Speaking of Buckeyes, the Wolverines just wiped the floor of Crisler Center with them - Go, Blue!
-
I have suddenly taken ill......like motion sickness....it always happens when I watch 2001: A Space Odyssey......ugh.....
-
I just watched the first episode of THE GOOD COMPANIONS;Vivienne Martin, who played the Queen in the BBC broadcast of JUBILEE, is one of the leads, along with a very young Simon Green, who's on McGlinn's THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER recording of Sept. 2011
-
I have suddenly taken ill......like motion sickness....it always happens when I watch 2001: A Space Odyssey......ugh.....
One viewing from around 1969-70 was more than enough for me!

Almost time for the Oscar's Red Carpet. I am not sure if I will be able to post while I watch the show (since my computer and tv are not in the same place).
-
Today is the 85th birthday pf my friend, the wonderful Marni Nixon!
-
Three hours early, and the red carpet show is already on?
-
DR TCB, to answer your question from last night: Yes, I've eaten Buckeyes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckeye_candy) and I've even made them once or twice. You have to like peanut butter a lot more than chocolate, because it's kind of overwhelming.
Thank you, I am tempted to try them.

I've been waiting for mine to show up in the mail.
-
Do you have to lose a bet to be a red carpet announcer?
I don't know, but I think you have to be dumber than a pile of rocks to be hired by Fox News.
-

Seen any really good or really bad fashions yet?
-
Since tax work precludes me from doing a HOLLYWOOD GOWN video this year, I'll just reprise the Angelina Jolie's Leg one from a few years ago.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMe-0U24tw4
-
Yikes, did that video drive people away?
-
I went into the kitchen to serve up the stew and have returned to find that we are now watching the x files on netflix

Somebody please let me know when the fashion show ends and the real show is about to begin I don't want to miss the opening

We'll I am playing hooky from church which is especially heinous as I am the assisting minister today
Many of the churches in Louisville canceled services today because of the snow.

I love that one, Fred.
-
Oh dear Lord what a wacko day this has been.
-
I didn't fall asleep until three. I didn't set the alarm, figuring the latest I'd wake up was noon. I woke up at 12:55. I was out of the house seven minutes later on my way to the theater.
-
I arrived to be told we had no power. The city of Burbank and our theater landlord had been called and people were on their way. At 1:45 we got word that a squirrel had eaten a power line and electrocuted itself (squirrels are, apparently, suicidal or very stupid). This had knocked out a power grid affecting a portion of Burbank. The theater guy got there and took over. We had back-up battery power, so the work lights worked but not the electric piano (there's a real one there, too, so we could have used that), no lighting, though, and no sound. Then the city guy arrived and told us IF it was a simple fix we could be up in thirty minutes, but by that time it was already a little after two, and the cast didn't want to do the show in work lights with a real piano (there have been key changes in a couple of numbers that are done automatically on the electric keyboard). So, we did something I've never done in my forty-five years in professional theater - we cancelled the show. There was only a light audience anyway. As it happens, power came back about thirty minutes after we cancelled, but the entire lighting system had to be rebooted dimmer pack by dimmer pack, so there would have been no way to do the show.
-
After, about ten of us, including Sami and her mom, went to the Coral Cafe. I just got home in time for the red carpet I guess, so let's get our partay going, shall we?
-
Shouldn't we be on page sixty by now?
-
I forwarded the cox.net info to our guy and hopefully he can now deal with it and get it sorted out posthaste.
-
Thanks, John G.
-
Last load of laundry in the dryer.
-
Good morning. I am at the church. So it seems to be Cox.
So glad to see you back.
-
Unbelievable really - a squirrel. I think perhaps the squirrel should be made extinct.
-
Dinner eaten, dishes done, all dry laundry folded and put away, house vacuumed, birds fed, cats fed.....I think that about does it
-
Outside birds, I didn't get any inside
-
It's definitely cox and some incompatibility with one of our DNS servers - apparently an easy fix on our end now that we know and hopefully our guy can get it sorted out quickly.
-
Power vibes for BK and company. (Didn't anyone know there are no power outages in LA on Oscar day?)
-
I am caught up on work at the moment - I guess it's because I have so little work now - and i think I will begin a BBC series i've wanted to see for some time.
Want a full report. The Good Companions is one of my all-time favorite novels -- and musicals.
-
Squirrels jump from one wire to another and sometimes the hit the two live spots on both wires creating a circuit, they get electrocuted and the power goes out to whoever is on that part of the grid. It happened on the wires across the street from me a couple years ago
-
So John G....who are you wearing
-
And BK, who are you wearing?
-
I'm home! The silent movie was very good and Dennis James, the organist was as wonderful as ever.
-
So John G....who are you wearing
Kirkland (aka Costo's finest) and LL Bean. It's a festive combo that with the Kirkland slippers cost about $35.99 before tax.
-
No accessories.
-
Vixmom, the opening starts in about 15 minutes...ok 17 but
-
My friend Margo, who also ushered today, will be coming over and watching the Oscars with me. She might not stay for the whole thing, but she'll stay as long as she wants. :)
-
DR George, who are you wearing?
-
I love Bradley Cooper's eyes~
-
DR George, who are you wearing?
Moda Campia Moda shirt and Great Northwest Clothing Co. pants. ;)
-
I love Bradley Cooper's eyes~
They are dreamy!
-
I'm wearing Oscar de la Renta - literally. He's very heavy but he's my brother.
-
I think we need some fashion reports here.
-
You'll have to ask Margo who she is wearing when she enters your door
-
I like Lady Gaga's hair
-
Our guy is working with the data center now that he has info, although the info from cox makes no sense to them, they're trying to figure out just where this snag is.
-
But many thanks to dear reader KevinH for staying on top of this.
-
Guess I better turn on the TV.
-
You'll have to ask Margo who she is wearing when she enters your door
I'll make sure to remember to ask. ;)
-
It's definitely cox and some incompatibility with one of our DNS servers - apparently an easy fix on our end now that we know and hopefully our guy can get it sorted out quickly.
Thanks, BK!
-
Richard is wearing the gray hooded robe that I gave him for Christmas. He looks like Obi Wan Kenobi in it.

I'm still using my phone as a mobile hotspot, needless to say.

I just made a lime congealed salad for a friend's birthday. It's not my kind of food, especially now that I know what's in it. So, I hold it congeals and she'll like it. I'd hate to think I wasted all that time.
-
Make that 9!
-
I'm still using my phone as a mobile hotspot, needless to say.
Well keep it plugged in....it will be a long night
Not sure I'll make it to the end!
-
Richard is wearing the gray hooded robe that I gave him for Christmas. He looks like Obi Wan Kenobi in it.
:)
-
I was supposed to set small bowl with the the gelatin mix in a big bowl filled with ice and let it begin to set. I didn't have ice but I needed to thaw a couple of things, so I set them in the bowl with cold water and set the small bowl on top. The meat thawed before the gelatin began to set. Odd.
-
I know we we will only be watching until 9 when we must turn on Downton Abbey
-
Richard is wearing the gray hooded robe that I gave him for Christmas. He looks like Obi Wan Kenobi in it.
:)
Appropriate for a movie night.
-
Lady GaGa is wearing red rubber gloves
That's exactly what I thought.
I did like the pattern on the fabric of her dress, but not the style. :-\
-
Vixdad hates award shows
-
Wow, I'm really out of it. Robin Roberts introduced "the one, the only," and I'm wondering who he is. Chris Evans?
-
Lady GaGa is wearing red rubber gloves
That's exactly what I thought.
I did like the pattern on the fabric of her dress, but not the style. :-\
I heard someone say they were actually red rubber gloves

-
Why was Robin sitting on a wall interviewing someone?
I don't know. That was Patricia Arquette with her messed up hair

Matron 5 is still a thing? I think the Vixter listened to them in junior high
-
Did not care for the opening number - and Mr. Harris has just become too smug and smarmy in his award persona.
-
8 minutes until downtown abbey
-
I had to walk out during that song - terrible song, terrible singer, but I could not look at that idiot's arms filled with tattoos. What a jerk.
-
The humor, or purported humor is dreadful.
-
In other words, it's the Oscars as always.
-
Shouldn't we be on page ninety about now?
-
We should be doing a page a minute.
-
You'll have to ask Margo who she is wearing when she enters your door
I'll make sure to remember to ask. ;)
I remembered to ask, I asked and she answered: REI.

Or are you all watching these marvelous commercials?
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone? We usually have a lot of people at our partay, including GUESTS. We have all of one GUEST.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Page then? Really?
-
Since I'm not watching and have to get some work done, I'll be off and on for a while over the evening.
Enjoy, all.
-
Loved the samsung commercial
-
I arrived to be told we had no power.
That's too bad! Only once when I've been involved in a show have we had to cancel.
-
George if you are recording this and if I am lucky enough to get a copy. I hope you leave the commercials in. :)
-
George if you are recording this and if I am lucky enough to get a copy. I hope you leave the commercials in. :)
I can do that...I'll have to write myself a note on that, but I can.
-
I was getting my laundry out of the dryer and folding it
-
And we are watching PBS now
-
It's definitely cox and some incompatibility with one of our DNS servers - apparently an easy fix on our end now that we know and hopefully our guy can get it sorted out quickly.
Very good news!
-
I recorded Downton Abbey
-
I am caught up on work at the moment - I guess it's because I have so little work now - and i think I will begin a BBC series i've wanted to see for some time.
Want a full report. The Good Companions is one of my all-time favorite novels -- and musicals.
I really like the score of the musical...I only know the show from the musical cast recordings.
-
Team Oscar? Please.
-
Happy for The Grand Budapest Hotel - a lovely movie.
-
The jokes, dear Lord, the jokes.
-
Page ten, dear Lord, page ten.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
The site is starting to load slowly for me, but it's still loading
-
I want to see birdman
Love Edward Norton
He has a nice ass.
I will not contradict you
Vixmom, when you see "Birdman," you will see Edward Norton's ass in all its glorious glory. :D
If you didn't already know that it would be shown.
-
Happy for The Grand Budapest Hotel - a lovely movie.
One of the few I've seen - on the plane to Paris in September.
-
I di not know that George

Little glitchy here, too...

Shirley MacLaine. I thought she might get some boos after her recent remarks.

Two words: freeze frame.
;)

That was awkward with Steve Carell.

page 11!
-
Huh?
-
This is getting tedious.
-
Huh?
Yup.
-
That song was so grotesque. I heard the Lego movie was fun, but if that song is any indication of the worth of it I would have to doubt that.
-
No problems loading here - lightning quick.
-
Everything is Awesome.
-
Except we should already be on page 100.
-
And if they were smart and/or awesome, they would begin cutting ALL of Mr. Harris and these horrid jokes.
-
Well, we're up to two GUESTS.
-
But this is certainly our lowest attendance EVER for an Oscar bash.
-
Of course Jane is gone - it seems she spends half the year now traveling hither and thither and even yon.
-
BK, you're head towards a monumental milestone!
-
We're baaaaack.
-
Yes, prepare to post a photograph of that everything is awesome moment when I achieve 80,000 posts.

Shorts, live action.

Yes, prepare to post a photograph of that everything is awesome moment when I achieve 80,000 posts.
Once you hit it, make sure that you wait a bit to give me time to get it preserved for posterity.
-
Hello, everyone.
I haven't been feeling very sociable lately, but nothing to do with this site or anyone here.
-
Viola Davis' dress is gorgeous!
-
My entire ensemble tonight is from LLBean--jeans, turtleneck, fleece jacket, and slippers. I'm still an East-Coaster at heart.
-
So sorry to hear about your aunt, JRand. My condolences.
-
Belated birthday greetings to DR Matthew.
-
Hi, DR Jeanne!
-
Welcome back jeanne
-
Vibes of warmth and comfort to all DRs in the cold!
-
Thank you, Vixmom. I was pleased to hear of your marathon napping. Much deserved, I'm sure.
-
I hope all is well
-
Hi, Kevin! How much snow do you have?
-
i thought i'd be watching but i am home in bed in a lot of pain from my leg. going to go to sleep. i guess i will have a lot of pages to catch up on tomorrow
-
Oh dear pain free vibes for mike
-
I want everyone to feel well!!!
-
i thought i'd be watching but i am home in bed in a lot of pain from my leg. going to go to sleep. i guess i will have a lot of pages to catch up on tomorrow
~~~Feel Better Vibes for Mike!!~~~
-
I liked the Glen Campbell song and hope it wins.
-
Hope you feel better, DR Mike...
-
The humor is excruciating and this is truly the most boring Oscarcast ever.
-
I hope all is well
Nothing other than the usual annoyances. I think the last Mercury retrograde brought out even more snarkiness and nastiness than usual from some quarters.
-
Interesting that both live action short and documentary went to films about crisis centers.
-
Hi, Kevin! How much snow do you have?
Probably about 3 inches left. A lot of it melted today, thank goodness (not that there was that much, but it's a pain parking with the snow ).
-
As much as I like Neil Patrick Harris, I'm not really enjoying his hosting.
-
From what quarters came said snarkiness - we need names.
-
He's a horrible host because he just looks smug.
-
FEEL-BETTER-PRONTO VIBES TO DR MIKE!
-
The fact is, we just don't have any Bob Hopes or Johnny Carsons anymore.
-
i thought i'd be watching but i am home in bed in a lot of pain from my leg. going to go to sleep. i guess i will have a lot of pages to catch up on tomorrow
Feel better, DR Mike.
And here it is and I'll shut up until George photographs it for posterity. 80,000 posts!
And here it is and I'll shut up until George photographs it for posterity. 80,000 posts!
I got it...I'll post it in a moment.
-
Congratulations, BK!
-
Did he really just come out in his underpants? And there you have Mr. Meron and Mr. Zadan and shame on them for their clueless and crassness.
-
From what quarters came said snarkiness - we need names.
One was from a reply to a post of mine on the NYT. What's funny is that I have a good friend who engages in major verbal combat on some Internet sites, then gets upset at the really stupid things people say. I've always said, "Why do you even do this?" He's far more combative than I am. I post very little apart from HHW, but I did expect better from the audience at the NYT. Silly me. That, plus general snarkiness.
-
And here it is!!
(http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t127/georged55/BKs80000th_zps3bfec87d.jpg)
Congrats, BK!!
-
The Oscars and BK's 80000th on the same night! Yay!
-
Congrats, BK.
Feel better, Mike!
-
Hi, Kevin! How much snow do you have?
Yes. Alexandria needs somewhere to put the snow.
Congrats, BK!!
Congrats to BK!
-
The fact is, we just don't have any Bob Hopes or Johnny Carsons anymore.
I agree, but you'd think a few people could be trained groomed.
-
Patricia Arquette for best supporting actress!
-
Congrats, BK!
-
I'm happy with the Arquette win and unhappy with her ridiculous speech - do they just take stupid pills?
-
Shouldn't we be on page 200 by now?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I know this has been said before in other cases, but why is it that an actor can't memorize a speech? Isn't that part of the job?
-
I think I'll be leaving soon. Have to get up in about 7 hours.
-
I know this has been said before in other cases, but why is it that an actor can't memorize a speech? Isn't that part of the job?
They don't want to "jinx" it...or something like that.
-
Leaving?
-
These wretched songs are killing me. There is a nice Grateful song, but it's not this horrid thing.
-
Awful.
-
Give it to the damn Glen Campbell song.
-
Visual effects.
-
I'm so bored of this show and the awful presenters.
-
KevinH is getting close to 5000.
-
I'm so bored of this show and the awful presenters.
It's only 90 minutes in. Only two hours to go.
-
The Imitation Game Hen
-
Enjoy the show.
TTFN.
Back to the oscars just in time for best animated film
-
KevinH is getting close to 5000.
Thanks for noticing, DR FJL. I think I'm the only one (except for DR Kate, who joined relatively recently) who hasn't even made 5 figures yet.
-
I did it see big hero. Did anyone here see it?
-
"Big Hero 6" for best animated film, which I didn't see.
-
Back to the oscars just in time for best animated film
You didn't miss much, DR Ginny!
-
That song was so grotesque. I heard the Lego movie was fun, but if that song is any indication of the worth of it I would have to doubt that.
It was a cute idea. I did not find it enjoyable to watch.
-
I did it see big hero. Did anyone here see it?
I actually didn't see any of the nominated animated films.
-
Glad I recorded Downton Abbey--something to watch tomorrow.
-
I know this has been said before in other cases, but why is it that an actor can't memorize a speech? Isn't that part of the job?
They don't want to "jinx" it...or something like that.
I guess that makes sense, DR George!
-
I'm sure I'm the only one who called the short animated film going to Feast. Why? Because in 1971 I wrote a musical called - Feast.
-
Will I hit 90,000 posts tonight?
-
I'll say the show is moving along, but a complete bore and Mr. Harris should be retired as host immediately.
-
I saw the opening segment online. Dull. Hard to believe something Anna Kendrick was in was dull.
-
It's raining here.
-
Did they do the in memorium segment yet?
-
Why is this woman talking and when will she go away?
-
Oh there's Eddie "I changed my mind and won't perform that sketch I rehearsed after all" Murphy
-
Oh dear someone cut holes in that poor lady's dress
-
I like her dress
-
Empty seat in the front row? I thought that was a no no
-
Hello?is this thing on?
-
Glad vixmom is here for the levity. We need more levity because we're certainly not getting it from a host who just said he pooped in his hat in a movie.
-
Will I hit 90,000 posts tonight?
PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
We need more hot posts.
-
Did they do the in memorium segment yet?
Nope, not yet.
-
It seems I just cruised past a milestone myself
-
I love how they think that withholding someone named Lady Gaga and someone named Jennifer Hudson is a smart idea - there won't be anyone left watching this borefest by the time they're on. It's been two hours and seems like seven.
-
Will we never get to page 300?
-
I'm thinking about eating an apple.
-
We shall see.
-
No where near as exciting as bk's 80,000
-
We should be having a page a minute here - what IS going on? Where is Jrand?
-
Why are people just sitting there like so much fish?
-
There is so much to tear apart here.
-
Vixmom, Congrats on your millstone!
-
Here's the memoriam section.
-
I'm thinking about eating an apple.
I had a Honeycrisp earlier - yum!
-
The Imitation Game Hen
Ore-Ida Tater Tots
In honor of the movie Ida.
-
The underwear thing is a takeoff on Birdman
-
I wish I could have lunch with Meryl Streep and just have her tell me things
-
I loved the memoriam slide show.
-
I liked that the pictures were shown full screen
-
I can't understand Jennifer Hudson.
-
How do they pick the order? Is it chronological?
-
Nice in memoriam ruined completely by this wretched Jennifer Hudson and her screeching.
-
How do they pick the order? Is it chronological?
I think it's random.
-
I liked that the pictures were shown full screen
I agree.
-
Boy we lost a lot of the greats and I'm glad they kept it current with Louis Jourdan.
-
I can't understand Jennifer Hudson.
I'm with you can't let go and forever were all I got.
-
Page 15? Really?
-
Nice in memoriam ruined completely by this wretched Jennifer Hudson and her screeching.
I didn't mind her, but I didn't think the song was necessary at all.
-
Congrats, BK and Vixmom, on your milestones.
Sounds more interesting than the show itself.
-
How do they pick the order? Is it chronological?
I was wondering that too, DR vixmom. But it can't be chronological because Louis Jourdan died very recently and his picture wasn't shown near the end.
-
Last year we had 47 pages of postings. This year? 15?
-
WHERE IS JRAND???
-
I'm watching Two for the Road. Quite enjoyable, except for all of the dubbed voices, such as the very young and gorgeous Jacqueline Bisset.
And it seems odd that Albert Finney's shirts come in blue stripes and red stripes. He even has a swimsuit in stripes.
-
I just got a text message from Verizon saying I've used 75% of my data for the month, which luckily ends Tuesday. I hope I won't have to use the hotspot for much longer to get on HHW.
-
Sorry I think her dress is silly looking
-
Well, I'm afraid it's time to say Goodnight.
-
Goodnight!
-
Film editing: Whiplash
-
Sorry I think her dress is silly looking
Looks like an apron.
-
Good night, KevinH.
-
Hey a thank you where he thanks the people who worked on the film with him. How refreshing
-
I thought Selma wasn't nominated. Why was there a clip?
-
Best Documentary feature: Citizenfour
-
WHERE IS JRAND???
Indiana
-
Goodnight!
Good night Kevin I hope the cox problems are resolved soon
-
Must see Whiplash - a shame the DGA didn't have the screener to send us.
-
Hi, Guys! Checking in to see how the Oscar party is going.
-
Hi, DR Edi!!!!
-
I got a screener for Whiplash from the Producer's Guild. But I went to see it in a theater, which is the way to see it. I went to see it twice, actually! I'm so glad that JK won, after working on The Closer for 6 years, and very happy that Tom Cross, the editor won, because he well deserved it!
-
Hey, Ginny!
-
I was rooting for my friend Richard King for sound editing, but he didn't make it. Lots of tough competition this year.
-
Hi, Edi! Welcome back!
-
Edi!!!!!!!!
You have been missed!!
-
Page 16 Dance!
-
Edisaurus is here.
-
Whiplash was my favorite film...JK Simmons was fantastic. They shot it in 19 days on a shoestring budget. I love it when a film like that upsets the over-inflated budget films!
-
Hello, bk!
-
Wow, the song from Glory - so anachronistic and terrible. Give it to Glen Campbell and stop this madness, and then abolish this category until an actual songwriter shows up.
-
I have a question. What are you supposed to do with your screeners? Are you required to,return them?
-
I think the producers need to be replaced instantly by - me.
-
Hi, Guys! Sorry, it's been a tough year for me and I've been absent in many places and many ways.
-
We are mandated to destroy them immediately after watching them. They are supposedly watermarked so that they'll know if you give them to someone. When someone explains to me how that's possible I'll believe it.
-
I think the producers need to be replaced instantly by - me.
I'd vote for you to produce next year's Oscars!
-
You are supposed to break them in half. Supposed to. But I may want to watch them more than once!
-
I just can't get into rap it seems so monotone and unintelligible
-
We are mandated to destroy them immediately after watching them. They are supposedly watermarked so that they'll know if you give them to someone. When someone explains to me how that's possible I'll believe it.
You see them for sale on eBay all the time...and I've purchased several over the years, myself. ;)
-
I know, bk...I would like to see an explanation of that myself! :-)
-
Awwww...they needed to show more of the orchestra!
-
Best song is next!
-
Rooting for Glen Campbell...
-
I liked the john travolta bit
-
And the Oscar goes to "Glory" from Selma.
-
Oh well...
-
Is John Travolta wearing a wig??? It sure seems like it.
-
I think the producers need to be replaced instantly by - me.
Need a researcher?
-
Is John Travolta wearing a wig??? It sure seems like it.
It's a well known secret that he's practically (if not totally) bald.
-
Lots of people were moved by the song. At least it was better than "It's Hard Out There for A Pimp" and some of the other lame songs that have won in the past.
-
And the horrid "song" just won. You all let me know if anyone remembers it twelve months from now. You all let me know how many cover versions of it there will be over the next two decades.
-
Who is the crying man?
-
Are we not getting to page forty-seven?
-
And pontificate they are - play these buffoons off the air.
-
No one is marching with your damn song, you nitwit.
-
No one can say we didn't get to page 17.
-
Is John Travolta wearing a wig??? It sure seems like it.
It's a well known secret that he's practically (if not totally) bald.
I did not know that
-
TNT shot a promo with him on for a tie-in to WILD HOGS. The shoot was delayed until his hair arrived.
-
Who is the crying man?
Which one? The black man (he's from England, so he's not "African American") who was sitting and standing in front of Oprah played Martin Luther King, Jr. in the movie Selma. Chris Pine was also shown to be crying.
-
Lots of people were moved by the song. At least it was better than "It's Hard Out There for A Pimp" and some of the other lame songs that have won in the past.
Oh that pimp thing was a terrible "song". I could not believe it was even nominated let alone won
-
Who is the crying man?
Yes George. I did not see the movie so I didn't recognize him
In fact the only nominated film I think I saw was the grand Budapest hotel
-
Love the dress but she appears to have some seaweed wrapped around her neck
-
Is this a tribute to "The Sound of Music"?
-
Hey songs with understandable lyrics and melodies and stuff
-
And now, Lady Gaga.
-
Go Lady Gaga
-
Wow...she sounds good!
-
She dresses funny but she has a lovely voice
-
I didn't realize that she could sing that well. But I still don't understand why we need this number...
-
Loved that!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yeah, but WOW
-
Hi Edi!
-
Julie Andrews!!
-
Well, seeing Julie Andrews was a nice payoff!
-
I always liked Julie Andrews. But then I read her autobiography
-
Oh, OK...50 year anniversary. I missed that part.
-
I may have to get me copy if the tony Bennett ladygaga cd
-
I watched Downton and then caught up on the Oscars by fast forwarding through stuff I didn't need to see and here I am all caught up Whew!
-
I may have to get me copy if the tony Bennett ladygaga cd
That's what I was thinking.
-
Best Original Score: The Grand Budapest Hotel
-
Desplat had a good chance of winning. :-) Glad he won for Budapest!
-
Loved Lady Gaga & Julie Andrews!
-
I don't understand Lady Gaga - her name or her persona or the wig or the ridiculous body filled with tattoos. Enough with the tattoos - it's just revolting.
-
Yes but she can sing
-
Julie on the other hand had no visible tattoos and was her usual classy and gracious self. I did laugh out loud when singing Climb Ev'ry Mountain, she got to the bridge and the key dropped a third so she could hit the high notes at the end.
-
I may have to get me copy if the tony Bennett ladygaga cd
That's what I was thinking.
I recorded her concert with Tony Bennett and that was great.
-
I watched Downton and then caught up on the Oscars by fast forwarding through stuff I didn't need to see and here I am all caught up Whew!
Vixdad is losing his patience with DA he wants some of e story lines to end already
-
I'm glad Mr. Desplat won for Grand Budapest, which was his best work this year.
-
Hi, Edi.
-
I have yet to get through the first episode of this season's Downton Abbey - it just seemed old and tired.
-
I keep meaning to get back to it, but alas.
-
Best original screenplay: Birdman
-
Thoroughly enjoyed "Two for the Road." Now I'm starting a Leroy Anderson bio, but it's four hours long or so, so I doubt I'll finish it tonight. There's supposedly an entire hour of filmed interviews with Russell Nype and Pat Stanley about Goldilocks, which sounds great.
-
I have yet to get through the first episode of this season's Downton Abbey - it just seemed old and tired.
Agreed.
-
We kind of lost interest in Downton Abbey, too...
-
I'm still enjoying it. Only one episode left this season.
-
We kind of lost interest in Downton Abbey, too...
I never started watching it.
-
Best Adapted Screenplay: The Imitation Game
-
Great speech.
-
I really liked The Imitation Game
-
That speech almost redeemed the entirety of the dreadfulness. Good for him.
-
Love the Cadillac commercial with the Edith Piaf soundtrack!
-
Very nice speech!
-
That speech almost redeemed the entirety of the dreadfulness. Good for him.
He was born in 1981. He's only 33 or 34 years old. He looks like a little kid.
-
Director category is strong!
-
Best Director: Alejandro Gonzαlez Iραrritu for Birdman
-
Does it bug anyone else when they see people chewing gum at big events like this?
-
My goodness, we seem to be closing in on three and a half hours. Thank you producers.
-
Does it bug anyone else when they see people chewing gum at big events like this?
And the chick who kept her hands in the pockets of her gown the whole time she was presenting...
-
Yay...they're playing Randy's :When Somebody Loved Me", which SHOULD have won an Oscar. Now that's a movie song!
-
I would like to see Michael Keaton win.
-
Best Lead Actor: Eddie Redmayne
-
No surprise there...but I was hoping...
-
YEAH!!
-
For those who find Travolta as creepy as I do:
http://entertainthis.usatoday.com/2015/02/22/john-travolta-wins-oscars-creepiest-moment-with-scarlett-johansson/
-
Sorry Edi, I really loved Eddie's performance and was hoping he'd win
-
They're already harping on Joan Rivers having been left out of the in memoriam.
She directed the dreadfully unfunny Rabbit Test and she ripped the fashion of many waiting to get into the Oscars, but was she a movie person?
-
Best Lead Actress: Julianne Moore
-
I haven't been able to watch Still Alice. Too close to home.
-
I know what you mean edi
-
I haven't been able to watch either, but I do want to see it
-
STILL ALICE is my book group's book/movie selection for August.
-
Best Picture: Birdman
-
Birdman!
-
Nice.
-
Well that's good news , now when I want to see it I can tell vixdad it's because it was the oscar winner and he'll never suspect it's because I want to see ed norton's
-
'night!
-
Good night, all.
-
Well that's good news , now when I want to see it I can tell vixdad it's because it was the oscar winner and he'll never suspect it's because I want to see ed norton's
You can act very surprised when it's shown.
;)
-
Gratuitous Post #555
-
Nice medley at the end!
-
Gratuitous Post #555
Lol
-
Hi and Goodnight, John G!
-
Happy for the Birdman win!
-
Edi I hope you find your way back here on a more permanent basis. We have missed you!
-
Gees, it took me a while to remember when Ed Norton showed his butt, but now I do remember
-
Three hours and forty minutes, of which approximately ten were interesting, none of which involved Neil Patrick Harris, who took a writing credit. Oh how we miss B. Vilanch, but we've got him for the Kritzerland show.
-
I'm happy about Birdman too.
-
Wind Chill -13 right now.
-
Goodnight all,
-
Yes, Cillaliz, Eddie was terrific. I just feel like Michael Keaton is underrated and has turned in many good performances for so many years so it would have been nice for him to win!
-
Thanks, Ginny. I hope to be here more in the future, but I know you understand, too.
-
I loved Neil Patrick Harris.
I was thinking about whether they should have included Joan Rivers even though she wasn't really a movie person. I think that she was very much associated with the Oscars for a long time. And personally there were many people that they did list that I had not heard of.
-
Yes, Cillaliz, Eddie was terrific. I just feel like Michael Keaton is underrated and has turned in many good performances for so many years so it would have been nice for him to win!
I agree. I would have been happy if he won too
-
I'm still enjoying it. Only one episode left this season.
I haven't watched tonight's episode yet. But I still love Downton Abbey.
-
I was cheering for Boxtrolls, because my brother in law's brother in law, Kent Melton, did the maquettes for the animation.
-
But the winner Big Hero 6 had a director from Iowa, so I guess that's ok
-
Best Director: Alejandro Gonzαlez Iραrritu for Birdman
I am sure that this guy is nice. But having to listen to him give 3 semi boring speeches was too much.
-
Gotta turn in...it's been a long day. Goodnight, y'all!
-
I loved the Sound of Music number. And was all teary when Julie Andrews showed up at the end. That was really nice. I was thinking that Lady Gaga would sing the songs some crazy way. But she sounded very good.
-
I thought that the John Travolta and Idina Menzel bit was funny.
-
Nice in memoriam ruined completely by this wretched Jennifer Hudson and her screeching.
I really like jennifer Hudson, although for her to sing after seemed odd to me.
-
As much as I like Neil Patrick Harris, I'm not really enjoying his hosting.
I couldn't disagree more. I thought he was very funny.
-
That song was so grotesque. I heard the Lego movie was fun, but if that song is any indication of the worth of it I would have to doubt that.
I didn't care for the movie, but I like that song. And i loved the number they performed.
-
I was cheering for Boxtrolls, because my brother in law's brother in law, Kent Melton, did the maquettes for the animation.
That's pretty cool.
-
I have turned off the DVR here in my TV room (the DVR up in my bedroom is recording the Oscars to my DVD burner), and I will now watch the new Twilight Time Blu-ray of "Stormy Weather." :D
-
Looks like the party is over.
-
Maybe we can get to 600.
-
Sorry I missed the party, but Nicky wasn't feeling well today.
-
The least I could do is sit in my recliner so he could sleep on my lap.
-
He seems to be doing a little better.
-
I thought NPH did a nice job.
-
I am sure that there are plenty of people who would disagree with my opinion.
-
I wish that Michael Keaton had won Best Actor, but the rest were pretty predictable.
-
I enjoyed Lady Gaga, and I loved the appearance of Julie Andrews.
-
As usual, the playing off music varied from winner to winner.
-
I am sorry that I missed DR Edi.
-
I was surprised that the broadcast was as long as it was. It seemed to move along very quickly.
-
It's fun chatting with myself.
-
At least I am not arguing with myself.
-
Who would win?
-
Am I the only one who couldn't understand a single word of Jennifer Hudson's song?
My friend Margo also had a problem with it.
-
I hoped that the Glen Campbell song would win.
-
Just made a rough mp3 of the two new songs I've done for the Sami project and sent them along for her to learn. It is so hard for me to play, read lyrics and sing at the same damn time.
-
No one can say we didn't get to page twenty-one.
I am glad that it wasn't just me.
Well, I am sure that someone could say it.
-
I'm watching "Stormy Weather." It's an all-black cast but a couple of the actors (the characters are actors in a show) are putting on make-up to do a scene in black-face.
Different times.
Yes, I have seen the film.
-
I can't remember if it is in BABES IN ARMS or BABE ON BROADWAY that Mickey Rooney does a number in blackface. So much for innocent fun.
I've never seen the whole film...just snippets, and obviously not that scene. I had no idea.
I came across a clip on YouTube with Judy Garland in blackface.
-
When I was a kid, there were a lot of movies that they showed on TV, where some of the black actors did numbers in blackface.
-
Brrrr! It is going to be in the 20's tonight in Olympia.
-
Well, I need to get to bed. Good night, George!
G'night!
-
Good night, Tom!
-
Lena is now singing "Stormy Weather."
-
Will we never get to page twenty-two?
-
And surely someone can tell me if Mr. Travolta is now wearing a complete wig - it sure looked fake to me. And his face looked like it was plastic, too.
I don't know if he's had work on his face, but here's a picture of his real hair:
That's from a while ago - I just found two other photos and it's much worse now.
-
I just finished "Stormy Weather." It's a great movie and Twilight Time released a wonderful Blu-ray presentation!
-
I'm real excited for the CD!
-
The CD is amazing!
-
And has not only the complete score and songs, but bonus material that was recorded and filmed but not used - some of that was on the old CD, but we unearthed four more of those tracks.
Nice!
