Well, you've read the notes, the notes were tired, and now it is time for you to post until the tired cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CAPTIOUS!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
And boy, are my arms tired.
-
I think EVERY day should be pshaw day.
-
No, DR Ben - I do not yet have a remote car starter.
It has been recommended to me.
More than once. :)
-
Along with an electric mattress pad.
Apparently you turn it on some time before you are ready for bed. The warmth seeps up through the bed, and when you get in, it is toasty warm. Then you turn if off, or you roast overnight. Or so I'm told.
-
In my house, the lone thermostat is contained in the apartment downstairs. They have it cranked so high that we sleep all winter without any covers at all. Thankfully, we are also not paying the heating bill.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee!
-
Good morning to all

I hate to say that it was so long ago that I am going to have to look up what movies came out in the 70's

I got the LOVE AND DEATH, too, and what a joy. All these years, and I never got around to having it on any home video format. Well, actually that goes for most of Woody Allen's films, though one of my first laser disc purchases was TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN. I should pull that one out and take a look at it for the first time in probably twenty years.
But I've really been enjoying the Allen renaissance on Blu-ray, and have everything issued so far. It has been most gratifying to reconnect with someone who meant so much to me in those glorious '70s. And '80s. I sort of lost touch with his films in the '90s and beyond, but I look forward to ketchuping with those as well.
So, the TOD. The seventies comedies. Well, first and foremost, just about everything Woody Allen and Mel Brooks gave us. I know there was other wonderful stuff, but I shall have to think about that for a bit. I'm sure I'll be cribbing off other people's answers, too.

Good morning, all.
Pshaw, Singdaw (hey, it rhymes). If everyday were Pshaw Day, then jejunosity of it all would just get to us, right? (A "Love and Death" reference.)

TOD:
In addition to the wonderful titles already mentioned:
A Wedding
The In-Laws
Breaking Away
Harold and Maude
What's Up, Doc?
Paper Moon
The Sting
Freaky Friday
Heaven Can Wait
Start the Revolution Without Me
-
Walt Disney studios released many family friendly comedies which I saw and probably enjoyed but would not for part like today.
The above films I can watch over and over again.
I very rarely go see any "comedy" films from the past 15 years or so
-
TOD:
Besides some of those already mentioned....I will add "What's Up, Doc?"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=US0gl8skWcw
-
"What's Up, Doc?" is surely one of the top gems of the decade.
-
Madeline Kahn was TIRED in "Blazing Saddles".

And the word of the day is: CAPTIOUS!
And The Song Of The Day Is: A ROOM WITH A VIEW
-
Good morning, all! I would add the 1970s update of Wycherly's The Country Wife, "Shampoo."
I ran into a dreadful occurrence yesterday involving my 2014 taxes and I am trying to correct the disaster this morning. Calamities upon calamities is the current status of my pathetc existence.
DR JohnG, I believe my leading lady Annalene is playing Suzie on that broadcast of The Good Companions. Our date for tea today has fallen apart because of our schedules not meshing, and that's a bummer since she and Simon fly out tomorrow.
-
Tax vibes for DR Elmore!
-
(First post in two hours and forty-five minutes??)
-
(Just to keep things moving along, here's one half an hour later.)
-
(Okay, one more half-hourly post. But I've got things to do. Someone else will have to take over these duties.)
-
Tax vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
HEALTH VIBES FOR DR JOHN!!!!!
-
I am home from City Center, coffee with Annalene and simon, and bank. Back to the taxes!
-
DR Jennifer, last night we FINALLY watched the final 2 hour episode of THE MENTALIST. We enjoyed it very much. It was a good way to end, IMHO.
Spoiler?
It left it open for a spin off or special tv movies. :)
-
I'm up, I'm up, after ten glorious hours of blessed sleep. Awoke at eleven and am probably going to get some food shortly.
-
Had some interesting news today - I've been told I can't share it for two weeks and I'm trying to find out why.

She was the only one who really made me forget the original cast. To put it mildly, Luz Robertson is no Judi Dench.

Glad you got to see them before they left.

I'm a day late with this question for BK:
What's the status of the new book?
-
Tax vibes for DR Elmore!

Hmm...that sounds ominous. ::)

This morning as I was starting to get ready for work, right below my right eye it suddenly started to get really puffy. I took an allergy pill and rinsed off my face, but I have no idea why it's doing it. My eyes have been bothering me lately and I have sort of felt like I"m catching a cold. I decided to take the afternoon off and come home and rest. I have work I can do here, but I also have the time to rest, so I may just sit
-
There were Llamas on the loose in Sun City, but thank heavens they have been captured....lol. Gotta love the hard breaking news on CNN
-
Thursday afternoon greetings! I had to get myself out of the house earlier than I like to go put out an AAUW fire before tending to Mom and grocery shopping.

Must be a slow news day...
-
DR Cillaliz, I was concerned when I saw you here in the middle of the afternoon! Hope you feel better.
-
Part of it is I'm just tired and have nothing on the schedule this afternoon or tomorrow so I decided to take the afternoon off. Taking allergy pills always makes me spacy so that's another reason. I'm not sick, just taking the afternoon off
-
I stopped and bought a whole chicken. I'm going to cut it up and bake it

And yesterday I was having a conversation about berserk llama syndrome.
-
Hope the swelling goes down soon, Cillaliz.
-
Thanks John G. It's better than it was this morning. I probably would have taken the afternoon off anyway. :)

One of my routes to Mom's takes me past a llama farm.

The status of the new book is waiting on Mr. Geissman, who, as always, is busy with other stuff. I'm hoping next week we can get that part done, and then it's about six weeks beyond that.

Verdict watch still on....

DR John G, that's the movie I've been trying to think of all day! It has a great chase scene through the library where Goldie's character works and she defends herself by pushing a full book truck down the stairs at the bad guys. My friend Becky (also a then-young librarian) and I saw the movie together and decided to remember that tactic. Fortunately, neither of us ever had to use it!

I think Ron reminded me of it.

I often had that problem when we had cats. Rinsing them in distilled water reduced the problem.

I am not allergic to cats but the combination of their fur and dust, or whatever, really bothers me.

It sounds like you had a fun day.
-
DR Cilla do you have Alaway or Zaditor allergy eye drops?
-
One of my favorites. It's Lerner and Lane, "One More Walk Around the Garden," sung by Hal Linden, Len Cariou and John Cullum.
I've watched or listened to it maybe five times in the last two days:

The cold is coming in quickly. Will probably drop 30 degrees tonight. And who knows about that snow tomorrow.

Rinsing the cats?!?!?! Um no, I don't think they would tolerate that. I'm not allergic to cats, that I know

I have regular eye drops that really helped. I took a Claritin and feel much better

I"m going to night one of the Siouxland film festival tonight. It's foreign and art house films. Apparently two film makers flew in from Paris to see the world premier of their movie. They are all short films. Should be a fun night

Well, I must be off. I'm working concessions for "Comedy In the Box (http://wcpa.squarespace.com/upcoming-events/2015/2/26/comedy-in-the-box-february.html)." I'm bringing my Kindle to read in the lobby. The comedy shows are well attended, but they aren't always as funny (or the kind of funny) as I would like.
Until later!

DR John G, Annalene told me today that when they did the BBC Radio concert of THE GOOD COMPANIONS, she was five months pregnant with her daughter Rose.
I will miss her.

As predicted, most of the schools opened two hours late today, as did the federal government. I ended up taking the bus to the Metro (rail) instead of driving. I started to get out of my parking lot and thought I was going to hit some of the other parked cars since it was so slippery.

TOD: Most of DR George's movies! Not surprisingly, "What's Up, Doc?" was the first that came to mind before I read anyone else's lists.
-
Thank you DR Kevin.
-
DR Kevin how much snow did you end up getting? Craig's school was closed. Was it the same in your district or did they have a delayed opening?
-
Back from a rather strenuous tango class. The doctor said nothing about exercise, so I hope I'm not overdoing it while on all these pills, inhalers, etc.

Hello, 5 guests.

I'm listening to the cut songs from Goldilocks that Leroy Anderson wrote. Toward the end of this feature, it mentions a musical version of Gone with the Wind that Anderson started to write with Ogden Nash.
Somehow I can't get my mind around Nash and Scarlett O'Hara. Weird.

The newscasts around here are calling it the "llama drama."

George, you mentioned FREAKY FRIDAY. It is being turned into a musical by the authors of IF/THEN and NEXT TO NORMAL, Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey. It is expected to come to Broadway next season.

I ran some errands today, including going to the Tacoma Mall (I HATE THAT MALL). I was only gone for two hours, but I was so worn out that when I got home, I didn't have the energy to do anything but watch the news.
-
Of course, I have had things to do for the last three days. Usually, I try to space them out so that I can rest between activities.
-
I had my appointment with my doctor a week ago yesterday, an I have yet to hear from the medical office that is the next step in getting my scooter or electric wheelchair.
-
Nicky seems to be even more tired tonight than I am.
-
Yesterday the Old Actors' Group met at a coffee stand / café called Espresso Yourself.
-
The place was really very small.
-
Luckily, two of our members had other appointments, so there was only three of us at the table. If all five of us had been there, we would have had to put to tables together.
-
That would mean that we have had half of the tables in the place.
-
Well, they also had a couple of those high bar tables with bar stools, but that was it.
-
I did have a really good roast beef sandwich, except they were a little heavy with the horseradish mayo.
-
One more post!

Page Five!

Just me and 1 Guest
-
I have a pretty good idea who the Guest might be.
-
Next week I am going to go and learn how to fire a gun.
-
Boy, I never thought I would type that sentence.
-
It is a different world than the one I grew up in.
-
And living alone and being in this wheelchair makes me feel a little more vulnerable.
-
I am not sure what will come from learning to shoot, but it is something different.

I am...I didn't go in and watch the comedians. I stayed out and read a book on my Kindle.

That was the first title I thought of, also.

Harold and Maude: I think that was the weirdest movie I ever saw with my mother. She didn't get it.
I just bought the Blu-ray. I haven't watched it, yet.

George, you mentioned FREAKY FRIDAY. It is being turned into a musical by the authors of IF/THEN and NEXT TO NORMAL, Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey. It is expected to come to Broadway next season.
I didn't know that.
-
Didn't BK record a song from an earlier musical version?
-
Yes, I recorded a song from the musical of Freaky Friday by Mary Rodgers and John Forster. It's a little odd to me that they're now doing ANOTHER musical based on it. What's next, a new musical based on The Matchmaker, with a different score. Oh, the madness. And frankly the songwriting team is about the last I would hire for a comic musical, but that's just me.
